Scratch Garrard from QB list

Share

Fox Sports (Jay Glazer) is reporting quarterback David Garrard needs surgery for a herniated disk in his back and will not be under consideration to play for the Raiders in the wake of Jason Campbell’s broken collarbone.

Garrard said he was called Sunday night. The Raiders have also been linked with Josh McCown and Carson Palmer, although the Palmer scenario appears like a longshot.

Exla, the team does need a #3 though. I certainly wouldn’t deal any picks to a team to get a QB. Orton should be out of the question for sure.

But maybe Bouman is worth a look to be the #3. Or someone mentioned bringing Colt back since the UFL is imploding again.

Lechler should not be the #3.

  • realtruraider

It looks like they have found a backup to Boller.
THERE WILL BE NO LET DOWN

Only two players out there that somewhat knows the Raiders playbook. Trent Edwards and Charlie Frye
    ++++++++++

Why do they have to know our playbook? If we get someone today they will have almost three weeks to prepare to start after the bye week. That is plenty of time to get up to speed for most QBs….just because we are used to low IQ QBs around here doesn’t mean they are all like Jamarcus.

  • RaiderSam

Is it me, or didnt it seem like Garrard was a packing a little weight? Of course he had a herniated disc. Yeah, Todd Bouman , Josh McCown and/or Patrick Ramsey sound about right. Orton is the only possibility and that’s basically Campbell 2 with less mobility….just when DHB is turning his season around this happens and what was with Boller missing those open receivers.

“We play with the hand we are dealt”

    uh, House wins.

Boller throws a good deep ball, better than campbell, which isn’t really saying much. And he has a quick release. he can run as well. they will build him an offense that will suit his skill set. we still need a suitable back up though.

  • RaiderReggie

Kyle Boller is going to be the starter. We need a veteran backup. Charlie Frye or Trent Edwards.

  • DeuceDeuce

Boller then after the bye Pryor.

Hope boller has had his head in the playbook.

  • raiderjhawk

Some of you guys are crazy! Boller is better than any qb that anyone in here has mentioned.

Palmer hasn’t been good as of late and I don’t want Orton, the Donks would be idiots to trade him to us anyways. Edwards doesn’t know the playbook, he barely made it out of pre season so the plays he learned were basics. Frye is fragile but would be a serviceable back up till JC gets back.

JC isn’t an elite qb so we are going to be running a lot more then we already were.

The seasons not over yet fella’s no need to throw in the towel.

  • Thec07

    uh, House wins.

If the house is RAIDER NATION agreed….

  • OK gentlemen, scratch your balls over this one:

    Campbell = Pastorini

    Boller = Plunkett

    2011 = 1980

Could this really happen? Bollers’ man balls will be present vs KC.

  • VanHeathen

You guys who think Pryor is going to be ready need to rewatch yesterdays game…
Any good team we play downthe line will do to Pryor EXACTLY what we did to McCoy…
Those kinds of beatings will kill your career before it really starts…this kid needs to sit and develop.

  • Brett Favre for back up to boller

  • raiderjhawk

I’m just surprised that the Favre talk hasn’t flared up yet. That’s an easy one to run with.

  • No Mas Diamante

I personally think this team has been doing well despite the qb play.

    Bring in Charlie Frye.

  • Kirk

Use Boller now, get Pryor ready.

We weren’t going to win the Super Bowl with Jason Campbell anyway.

But we might with Pryor down the road.

  • RaiderReggie

Boller will be fine after a full week of practice and a bye week after that.

  • kellygreenninja

Todd Bouman, 1900 and some odd yards over 12 years. It’s ridiculous how quarterbacks are picked and placed on rosters in this league. Granted, he’s not on the roster yet and probably won’t be, but still the fact that he’s being looked at is mind boggling.

  • Frye: NO
    Edwards: NO
    Favre: NO
    Palmer: NO
    Orton: NO
    Gradkowski: NO
    JaRussell: NO

    #1 Boller
    #2 Lechler
#3 Pryor (move Pryor to #2 after week 12)

Dude, WTF? Jason is still a Raider. Why are you speculating about his personal life? He’s been nothing but humble and grateful to be in Oakland

Speaking the truth. He could be my cousin and I still would be thinking the same thing. If you cant speak your mind on your teams blog then where else to speak it. Not hate speech. Truth (not even tryin to be funny)…

Yea, and it took their offensive coordinator three and a half quarters to realize that all you have to do to counter that is max protect, and throw the ball downfield.

  • Favre or fry
stick wit boller as the starter tho

EXACTLY!! Its not always the QB’s fault…

  • Kirk

I saw Shanahan call four screens in a row to counter the Raider’s rush.

And it worked every single time.

    By Bill Williamson
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that it doesn’t appear Trent Edwards is interested in returning to the Raiders at this point. He was cut this summer when Kyle Boller beat him out for the No. 2 job behind starter Jason Campbell, who is out for several weeks, and perhaps the season, with a broken collarbone.

I think the only way the Raiders would bring back Edwards is if it was as a backup to Kyle Boller. Oakland coach Hue Jackson said Monday the team is preparing to go with Boller, but it will continue to look at other options.

Meanwhile, Cincinnati coach Marvin Lewis reiterated that quarterback Carson Palmer is retired in the eyes of the organization. The Raiders reportedly have tried to acquire Palmer. The trading deadline is Tuesday. With David Garrard unavailable because of a back injury, it appears the Raiders’ best bets are either sticking with Boller or trading for Kyle Orton from Denver. Right now, I’d say the Raiders will roll with Boller and re-access down the road if necessary.

  • ghostraiders

    1 boller 2 lechler 3 Pryor. ..??

    +++++++++++++++++++

Now this blog is getting stupid!!

  • ElkGRaider

    Boller it is… :/

A little disapointing but then again…was Jason all that great? He made some really bonehead plays. Plays you would question a highschool QB making. Raiders will be fine. Give Boller those 1st reps. Get on the same page. All you have to do is make the slant, screen, and hitch routes!!!

  • How about Jeff Garcia. Not that far to Gilroy. lmfao. Surprised no one mentioned him. He got pissed he was not alowed to compete with JaLoser.

  • Get Garcia and we have two hotties as QB wives.

  • raiderinparadise

    I ALREADY POSTED THIS BUT…

We are 4-2, and we had a the mouth breather Campbell at the helm. That shows how we can win without a good QB. Boller has a chance to savor a playoff season, he knows this is a great oppurutnity. Al Saunders and Hue Jax will have him comfrotbale in a gameplan for a KC win, then he has a bye week to work more and get his act right.

    Perfect timing for him.

  • TheToozFan55

ha-ha! dakota, your phone call had me rolling !

  • KRAWFDADD

All these people trying to be skeptical of Boller,I love the Raiders to death but Boller is Marc Wilson 2011 in all actuality.A turnover machine with a strong arm.We now must resort to the ground n pound ala NY Jets n hope our D can be stout week in and week out

  • JB

Garrard & Edwards are not available. It appears the same with Carson Palmer. I don’t know who they are giving a workout to this week. Some guy who knew HuJack was mentioned but I’ve never heard of him. I expect Troy Smith to workout also as Hujack was his coach while at Baltimore. Smith was mobile & had a strong arm. His main problem was his 6’0″ height. I guess HuJack will do what’s best for the team. So, I’ll leave it in his hands.

  • priesttj

There is a guy on here with the name that is apropriate for this right now. HueKnows what he needs to do and Hue knows it’s waste of time to try to get a starter ready for the immediate future it will take a guy 5 weeks to start for this team and do a decent job. Yeaah a Carson Palmer is a better player than maybe everyone we now have but it would take so long it’s almost not worth looking at that guy as a legit starter any closer than 5 weeks. So it’s Kyle Boller whether we like it love it or hate it.

Even Pryor will take 4-5 weeks to be ready to start so it’s Kyle Boller again. He was chosen by Hue jackson for this eventuality, he knows what he can and cannot do he knows how to call plays for him to be successful. Everyone else doesn’t have to agree with Hue jackson’s decision but he made it 6weeks ago that if this were to happen that Kyle Boller would be th next guy up. Now who he gets to back him up and be ready if something happens to Kyle or someone to play eventually when they are ready is another question altogether.

Who that will be is up for debate but who starts over the next 3-5 weeks is not. I think they will get someone who can help us if kyle goes down and Terrelle Pryor isn’t ready but if Kyle goes down IMO Terrelle is going to make sure he’s the guy and when he goes in he’ll play much better than anyone thinks he will. Just one man’s opinion but if I was a betting man I thinmk those two guys are going to get it done. It might not be pretty but they will get it done. Stats aint important, wins are…………period

  • joker94583

Thank goodness it won’t be Garrard. Mc Cown? Please! If it can’t be Palmer then throw Pryor out there, season is done anyway. We won’t get passed SD with Boller.
