Boller opens at QB vs. Chiefs
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Sunday, October 23rd, 2011 at 1:18 pm in Oakland Raiders.
The mystery is over.
Kyle Boller took the field as the starting quarterback Sunday at O.Co Coliseum against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Results of Boller’s first drive were disastrous as Kendrick Lewis intercepted a Boller pass and returned it 59 yards for a TD.
Carson Palmer, acquired for a first-round draft pick and a first- or second-round pick Tuesday from the Cincinnati Bengals, will be the backup and it remains to be seen if there is a plan to get him some playing time.
The Raiders also have Terrelle Pryor active, and he has already been in to take a snap in spread formation, which is suited to his skills as a runner-passer.
Coach Hue Jackson declined to name a starter during the week, waiting to see if Palmer would be ready after being off for the last six weeks and having not played in a game since last year’s regular-season finale.
With the bye week coming up, the Raiders have until Nov. 6 to get Palmer ready to face the Denver Broncos at O.co Coliseum.
ESPN reported earlier Sunday the decision would be up to Palmer whether he starts, which runs contrary to Jackson’s position Friday that he would make the call.

No dropoff from Campbell huh?
Boller is the worst backup in the NFL!!!
25 Turnovers to 12 TD’s in the last 5 years!!!
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:19 pm
So when do the Palmer chants start?
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:19 pm
PALMER PALMER PALMER!
Hue, this is what you get for listening to Davis’s guys. I know you’re trying to be nice and show him some respect. But he’s gone. Win. Win. Put your players in and win!!!
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:20 pm
Come on Hue. You’re getting a little too damn cute and cocky…
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:20 pm
That INT was due to the slick play on 3rd and 1
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:20 pm
Raiding Texas, the fans were chanting palmer right after the pick.

Exactly.

October 23rd, 2011 at 1:20 pm
Sullivan,
I don’t understand why you keep taking jabs at Al Davis.
Give it a rest
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:21 pm
OMFG!!!
WHAT ARE YOU DOING, HUE???
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:21 pm
I have a deep-rooted hate for Boller, from the days he went 0-11 at Cal.
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:21 pm
This game will do 2 things:
1. Show that JC is better than most thought
2. Show why Run DMC is the MVP of this team
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:21 pm
Unfortunately Boller inspires nobody.
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:21 pm
I’m not a big fan of Hue’s trickery, but I thought that was a good play they ran with Pryor.
Rookie mistake, won’t happen again.
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:21 pm
KC just stacks the line now.
Of course Boller’s just checking down.
Game plan’s already ditched.
Hue, wtf are you doing? Put Palmer in now!!!
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:22 pm
Half time adjustment = Palmer
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:23 pm
Before Hue saved Boller in 2010, he was completely out of the league in 2009.
Wasn’t on a team.
I highly doubt there is any other QB that is a #2, who has twice as many turnovers as TD’s over the last 5 years.
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:23 pm
I feel sick… smh
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:23 pm
Lmao somebody thought this guy was worthy of a 1st round pick and could lead a franchise
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:23 pm
We’re already ditching the game plan and keeping the game out of Boller’s hands. And KC knows it. They’re not stupid. I don’t understand this at all. What is Hue doing? Why is he giving Boller 9 lives?
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:23 pm
I think Palmer is coming in
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:23 pm

Nah, won’t take that long.
If Boller is just going to tuck it and run, he won’t be in there long.

Exactly, they were expecting a run with our backs and that play took the ball out of Boller’s hands, that’s all good in my book

October 23rd, 2011 at 1:31 pm
I can’r believe we got Curry for a 7th and 5th.

October 23rd, 2011 at 1:34 pm

Yup, get Boller on out of here.
I would rather see Pryor out there running bootlegs etc
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:34 pm
LOL….at the people saying we would hang 40 on them.
I looked it up.
Boller never scored 40 in the Pro’s, and only once in 31 games in college.
No stats on High School though.
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:34 pm
They have to get Boller out of there.

October 23rd, 2011 at 1:41 pm
