Halftime: Chiefs 14, Raiders 0

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Sunday, October 23rd, 2011 at 2:32 pm in Oakland Raiders.

The Chiefs held on to their 14-0 lead as Kyle Boller threw his third interception at the Oakland 12-yard line on a telegraphed pass intended for Darrius Heyward-Bey.

Moments earlier, Boller had hit Heyward-Bey for a 21-yard gain and scrambled 19 yards to the Chiefs 36 as the Raiders threatened for the first time since Michael Bush got stuffed on a fourth-and-1 play off a direct snap.

The Raiders had five penalties and four three-and-out possessions to go with three interceptions by Boller.

Darren McFadden missed much of the first half with an undiscclosed injury.

The half ended with safety Chinedum Ndukwe interception a desperation pass at the 1-yard line and the Raiders (or Boller) being booed off the field.

    We look bad.

  2. RaidingTexas Says:

    PALMER!

  3. marios Says:

    What was that?

  4. YoungAmerican Says:

Who was it that said we’d be fine with Boller? Show yourselves…

  5. raidermigraine Says:

Think Palmer will start after the half?

  6. Albert Bigelow Paine Says:

Mix it up with Palmer and Pryor in the second half. That was worse than Jamarcus.

  7. Mum-O-killowe Says:

Do not put Palmer in this game. He is not ready, and the O-Line is not doing well, and no DMC and no SeaBass

  8. Just Fire Baby Says:

2009 Boller was out of the NFL.

Why did we bring him back?

  9. raidermigraine Says:

I knew Boller was bad but I had no idea he was this bad…I have a headache.

  10. RaiderDebo Says:

Have a new appreciation for the “out of bounds” deep balls by JC. Boller has been terrible, but even though they’ve improved, our receivers still aren’t ready for prime time.

  11. JT Says:

Boller is fun to watch, he runs for 20 yards next play he hits his 3rd INT

  12. Chris in NY Says:

O-line sucking today as well. Don’t get me wrong, Boller has been worse, but o-line is looking real shaky all of a sudden.

  13. BabySlash Says:

    Too many injuries…

Campbell, McFadden, ShoNasty, Jano, McClain, CJ, Chekwa, Giordano…not to mention all the injuries we already had early with Huff, MM, Murphy etc.

    What a shame.

We can still win this game anyway! CODE BLACK!

  14. Mum-O-killowe Says:

Cut Boller now, not any later.

  15. big fan Says:

Maybe this is boller fvck you at hue cuz he knows he aint gonna be #1

  16. raidermigraine Says:

I kind of hope Palmer doesn’t play today if he’s not ready. I don’t want him to get hurt.

Good decision to let Grads walk and resign Boller.
    ===================================================
    Or keep Frye.

Oh well….if Grads had stayed maybe they don’t sign Boller…Its clear the Palmer signing had to happen.

Hue and the front office get an F for not having a backup plan though

    100% agree

  19. aig-raiders Says:

I lay the blame so far squarely on Hue Jack. He didnt ease Boller in to get him into rythm. Made some really bad calls. We’re lucky it’s only 14-0. Hope Hue gets better in the 2nd half.

  20. Mum-O-killowe Says:

Still need to draft a QB. Need depth.

  21. BabySlash Says:

Oline is sucking it up too.

BOLLER is the worst I have seen in my life…..

All you Soup haters take it and stuff it.

  22. big fan Says:

Maybe Hue just didn’t have the guys ready to play? Boller is at the top of the ineptitude but it sounds like the o-line is leaky too.

  23. Albert Bigelow Paine Says:

Now we all know why the Raiders gave up two potential first round picks.

  24. Chris in NY Says:

You don’t want to get him hurt, but if Palmer comes in and leads us to a TD drive to start the second half that place is going to explode and there will be a huge momentum swing. This is an important game. Not a must-win, per se, but one we definitely should win and a divsion game.

  25. raiderfankirk Says:

Please PALMER. PALMER. PALMER! !!!!!! LETS GET IT GOING PEOPLE.

  26. JB Says:

    PALMER PALMER PALMER PALMER PALMER

I was just about to post this same thought. Too many trick plays. Too many deep attempts with a sh!tty QB. This is Hue’s fault as much as Boller.

Agree, but that OL looks bad so Palmer would have to hit short passes…. Boller is getting hit on each pass play.

KC D line came to play. Raiders O Line is flat.

  36. BabySlash Says:

The problem is that Hue is still trying to outsmart the other team. He should have never even had Boller throw anything but short stuff.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I’d vote Pryor. Spent too much on Palmer for him to get hurt before he even knows the playbook. Let the new kid get some reps. Boller is the WORST!!!!

  41. Albert Bigelow Paine Says:

Hue knows that Boller is crap. So, yeah, I blame Hue for this first half. All he had to do was play it conservative.

    ———————————————

Or, I dunno…have a better backup plan before the start of the season. O-line play has always been shaky. The probability of Campbell getting hurt was always high. Oh, the pundits will have a ball ripping the Raiders this week.

Not a bad idea, what if we have another Cam Newton type QB… you never know.

  55. Albert Bigelow Paine Says:

I feel like we are reliving the past 7 years all over again. Might is well have Josh McCown out there.

  56. BabySlash Says:

Yeah NO PALMER…he’ll just get hurt. Put in Pryor and let him do his thing. Boller is a piece of GARBAGE! a turd making 1.5 mil.

  57. 901Raiders Says:

I game like this would happen on a day the Chargers lose and we can get 1st place in the West. Hue and Boller need to get it together. We can still win this game….

  58. Surge92 Says:

SD lost. If we somehow manage to win this game, we’re in first place, aren’t we?

  59. Just Fire Baby Says:

O-line is garbage because KC is sending 6 or 7 guys into the backfield each play, and we don’t have enough people to even block them 1 to 1.

  60. aig-raiders Says:

Hue’s big problem is he often fails to match the offense to the QB’s limitation rather than force teh QB to play in his offense.

  61. raidermigraine Says:

Yeah this game is still winnable but probably not with Boller.

  62. big fan Says:

I didn’t think we’d be much worse with Boller than we were with JC.Boller is making the mistakes I was afraid he would.HOWEVER,Hue’s play calling isn’t doing him or the team any favors.

  75. ENGLANDRAIDER Says:

Jackson needs to do a whole lot better with that play calling.
He sends in Pryer, who hasn’t played a single down, on a QB sneak?!!!!!!!!!!!
He goes for it on 4th and short (again!) and sends in Bush as QB!!!!!!

And Boller sucks as we already knew.

  76. SnB offense defense specialteams Says:

What about Pryor? Does he know enough of the playbook?

  77. PlunkforHOF Says:

  78. Pretty Rick Says:

So I’m delusional for sayn we should play Pryor perhaps even start him this week. Let’s see Pryor or Boller? If we’re gona throw a game away Id rather see what Pryor can do, cuz we already know what Kyle Boller can’t do.

  165. BabySlash Says:

Leave BOLLER in and let him taste defeat….no reason to risk Palmer.

  166. ArtilleryShell Says:

here we go will this be history

  167. Pretty Rick Says:

Good,,,wait until we’re down 21 and then put Palmer in. Great!

  168. Mum-O-killowe Says:

    Pull Palmer now.

  169. big pep Says:

here he comes, wish him luck..

  170. Surge92 Says:

    About time!

  171. BabySlash Says:

    Hue is delusional

  172. GForce21 Says:

Not a good start, Hali already at Palmers knee

  173. PlunkforHOF Says:

    Spark?

  174. big pep Says:

oh schty no, that mother is hurt.

  175. morilla Says:

Man, Bush just seems slow hitting holes.

  176. BabySlash Says:

Carson almost blew out his knee on the first play…great Hue.

  177. RaidersMom Says:

Good luck Carson and God be with you!

  178. davidon Says:

Christ don;t let him get to his knee!

  179. RaidersMom Says:

    Yes !!!!

  180. raidermigraine Says:

Oh God. Carson, don’t get hurt!

  181. Surge92 Says:

If anything, putting Palmer in there at least energizes the offense.

  182. RaiderTW Says:

I saw this…. On a Monday night, 2nd half Raiders comeback 31 pnts with Shannny coaching.

  183. Dhidee99 Says:

    YOU MUST BELIEVE!!!!!!

  184. SilverAndBlackBleeder Says:

    Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  185. SilverAndBlackBleeder Says:

    Killin’ me!!!!!

  186. Dhidee99 Says:

21-28 RAIDERS :-) THIS IS SOME GOOD KOOL-AID

  187. ArtilleryShell Says:

See, he got tweaked by Hali. Pretty scary. At least Pryor can scramble, and they probably are about even in terms of knowing the Raiders playbook

  188. JT Says:

    Battle keeps those legs moving

    a 6 yard gain!

  189. ArtilleryShell Says:

Do our DB’s ever look back for the ball?

  190. ArtilleryShell Says:

Those guys better block their AZZEs off for Palmer, even if they have to hold, don’t let him get hurt/touched. Who is our O-line leader?

Boller should be cut after this game. I would go re-sign Charlie Frye

    ——————–

I agree. Frye was far more capable.

  192. ArtilleryShell Says:

I would just let Pryor scramble and look to score on broken plays outside the pocket, and let him run if he doesn’t see what he likes.

  193. ArtilleryShell Says:

I liked Frye better, too, but he did regress this offseason. Trent Edwards at least didn’t throw ints

  194. ArtilleryShell Says:

That’s the kind of hittin I’m talking about Mitchell just clocked Battle

But how does Mccluster break a tackle

  195. Surge92 Says:

    Yes! INT!

  196. ArtilleryShell Says:

Maybe the goal is to just get the team to be excited again about the prospects for the future. You can see why Hue had to do something, given Boller was his backup.

  197. ArtilleryShell Says:

Yeah, DVD had running room, too
