Raiders take QB drama to kickoff

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Sunday, October 23rd, 2011 at 11:42 am in Oakland Raiders.

The Raiders released their inactive list for Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs but made no announcement regarding their starting quarterback.

Both Kyle Boller and Carson Palmer took reps before the game, with Boller going first.

Palmer, acquired for a first-round draft pick an conditional pick Tuesday with the Cincinnati Bengals, came out early on his own to work out on his won at O.co Coliseum with practice squad wide receiver Eddie McGee.

Coach Hue Jackson declined to name a starter during the week, waiting to see if Palmer would be ready after being off for the last six weeks and having not played in a game since last year’s regular-season finale.

With the bye week coming up, the Raiders have until Nov. 6 to get Palmer fully integrated into the system to face the Denver Broncos at O.co Coliseum.

ESPN reported earlier Sunday the decision would be up to Palmer whether he starts, which runs contrary to Jackson’s position Friday that he would make the call.

Declared inactive for the Raiders were quarterback Jason Campbell, place kicker Sebastian Janikowski, cornerback Chimdi Chekwa, cornerback Chris Johnson, fullback Marcel Reece, guard Bruce Campbell and wide receiver Chaz Schilens.

Another player that can shake off the injury bug is bruce campbell

  • Just Fire Baby

What’s the point in Bruce Campbell having a roster spot?

If he can’t stay active halfway through his 2nd year, can we use the spot for someone else?

  • Sullivan44

Some radio host was going nuts the other day because people won’t give Tebow a chance, whatever. He was hoping Tebow “shoves the ball up all everyone’s @#$#”@$. That guy must really be losing it now.

  • devilr8er

Agree, high upside for bruce, but he is starting to turn into the roster spot killer

I have a feeling Tebow is going to be back on the bench by the time Denver comes to Oakland.

  • devilr8er

    Fk’n jets-stop the chargers

  • Plunder

Pretty sure Chaz practiced all week. Considering it’s Chaz, he may have hurt himself late in the week…

Could be Hue doesn’t want 6 receivers active. Maybe he wants Murphy to get some extended time.

  • Raiders for life

    Chaz-groin.

  • EMRaiders

What? they just don’t know what to say anymore. First it was Palmer for sure, then Boller, then Pryor, now it’s up to Palmer if he feels like playing. What’s next? Lechler?

  • Thec07

    Free Norco Bob….

  • TheToozFan55

yeah, devilr8r, i hope jets can make a comeback! But probably doubtful.

  • John David Booty

Raiders hangin 40 on KC today.

Chaz with a groin late in the week. What a shocking development…

    Wouldn’t surprise me.

  • hendu

Thec07,with ya on NB,what the heck did he say and to whom? How are you doing,Thec?I think a tight game,as usual when these two teams meet. Go RAIDERS!!!

  • Sullivan44

I’m reading some of Norco Bob’s past comments. The similarities to Brien are more glaring now than ever. I thought of this before, but can’t believe I was ever gullible enough to give them the benefit of the doubt. Jesus flippin christ if they aren’t the same person.

  • John David Booty

Cam is a beast. Tebow sucks.

  • Chris in NY

Watching some of this Denver-Miami game. I’m convinced that if you gave the announcers the option to bail out to go call a WNBA game instead they’d pounce on it.

    Some of the lowlights:
    - Two teams are a combined 0-for-15 on 3rd downs!
    - Denver has more punts than passing yards in the 3rd quarter.

But Miami is letting them hang around at 6-0 and this has the feeling of one where Tebow runs one in late to give Denver the W. Look for Skip Bayless to hail Tebow’s intangibles and “will to win” tomorrow morning.

  • Chris in NY

Jets are not looking good against SD. Getting every call from what I’ve seen but still not making much noise. Down 11 halfway through the 3rd.

  • http://raiders.com Albert Bigelow Paine

I’m watching two of the worst games I’ve seen all year. Denver and Miami / Bears and Tampa.

  • devilr8er

I love how ignorant donkey fans are. They really thought Teblow was an upgrade over Orton. Quinn would be a major upgrade over Teblow

  • devilr8er

    Yeah catching t

  • TheToozFan55

chargers starting now on the 5. hope the jets stop em’ here……………

  • devilr8er

catching the jets game, I think they are on a downward slide this season.

  • Sullivan44

The Broncos went with Tebow because the sports media, an extension of the NFL’s front office anymore, told them to.

  • mcfadden20.

    code black

  • devilr8er

Well Elway is over his head if he is going to make decisions because of the sports media

  • Chris in NY

One of the worst slates of games in recent memory so far today.

I am cleaning up so far with Chicago, Houston and hopefully Miami can hold on. Need the Jets to rally.

  • Thec07

If you never met Nbob you can’t say sheet….

  • RaiderRetribution

Raiders should trade our fifth round pick in 2012 for Tebow, use him as our power back should we lose Mr. Bush toFA.

  • Chris in NY

Those England games almost always seem to disappoint. Not exactly the best demonstration of American Football on that stage.

  • devilr8er

Teblow in silver and black- I cant see it.

  • RaiderRetribution

As deep as we are at wr not having Mr. Schilens for a week or two or three is not that big of a concern anymore for Raider nation .

  • RaiderRetribution

To devil, Tebow would not be the first born again playing for the Raiders.

  • Plunder

Apparently Matt Ryan hurt his ankle. Looked pretty bad from what I’m reading. Haven’t seen it myself…

  • TheToozFan55

Jets at Chargers 2 or 3 yard line

  • devilr8er

    TD Jets

  • Chris in NY

    JETS punch it in.
