FB Reece returns to practice after missing four games

Fullback Marcel Reece’s injured ankle finally healed enough so that he could return to practice for the first time in a month. He missed the past four games.

Reece suffered his injury against the New York Jets. Coach Hue Jackson hasn’t provided many details about the nature or extent of the injury, and Reece hasn’t been in the locker room during media access the past month.

However, it appears as if Reece is on track to return to action Nov. 6, against the Denver Broncos, the game after the Raiders bye week.

Cornerback Chimdi Chekwa also is at practice today and in line to play Nov. 6 after missing the past three games with a hamstring injury.

The outlook isn’t as bright for running back Darren McFadden (foot), tight end Kevin Boss (concussion), cornerback Chris Johnson (hamstring), safety Matt Giordano (neck) and linebacker Rolando McClain (foot/leg).

All five aren’t practicing, and their status for the Broncos game is uncertain. Jackson isn’t required to provide an update on the status of injured players until next Wednesday, and don’t expect one, either.

Kicker Sebastian Janikowski (hamstring) is on the practice field. He isn’t doing much once again. However, Jackson apparently is convinced that Janikowski’s hamstring injury isn’t a concern moving forward because the Raiders waived kicker Dave Rayner on Tuesday morning.

The Raiders signed Rayner on Saturday so that he could kick in place of Janikowski against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

Defensive back Ron Parker was waived Saturday to make room onthe 53-man roster for Rayner. On Tuesday, the Seattle Seahawks signed Parker.

Defensive tackles Richard Seymour and John Henderson, and safety Michael Huff also aren’t practicing. No word on what ails them.

Jackson speaks with the media in about an hour. Updates are forthcoming.

Quarterback Carson Palmer spent a fair amount of time working on sideline throws to his wide receivers in an attempt to get down their timing.

Palmer’s throws more times than not arrived on target and with plenty of zip. Palmer and the receivers said they intend to get in plenty of extra work during the four off days later this week so that they are in synch for the Broncos game.

I’m emphasizing this point, because you have had an unusual man crush on Jason Campbell since he got here.

Every QB that has come here since Jason, you have tried to find something wrong with him.

Now for the record, I support Jason Campbell and am rooting for him. He was the best option for the Raiders to win NOW before he got hurt!

But if you wanna talk about ENTIRE CAREERS and entire BODIES OF WORK, Campbell has nothing to brag about himself.

But you put blinders on when it comes to Campbell’s flawed and woeful performances, but emphasize Palmers.

Even tho it is obvious that Palmer has accomplished more in his career and has better numbers over his career, than Campbell.

That double standard is what’s making you look bad, and I’m gonna keep callin it like it is.

Cincy has been a mental asylum and multiple players have wanted out but you act like this is only applicable to Palmer because he didn’t want to play there anymore.

Like he is the first player in the NFL who has ever been disgruntled, or refused to play somewhere!

So I guess Eli Manning and John Elway aren’t leaders either right. After all, they refused to play for certain teams as well right?!?

Kind of agree, but f all that. We traded 2 first rounders for the guy and he’s on the books for 12 Mill next year. We were a team without expectations, and now we put them on ourselves because of what we gave up and the cost. Every Raider fan has to determine what will make this trade worth it. I’m hollering AFC divisional playoff round or bust. Anything less is unacceptable unless we barley make the playoffs this year and make it the next few years as well. But there is no “awhile”. When the org made the business decision to reach for him the way the org did, they’re basically promising the fans quick returns on investment. We have to hold them to that. In Hue we trust. He’ll either go down forever as HUE JACK CITY the legend or HUE-Jack-Ass if this Carson experiment doesn’t pan out.

Other teams have had training camps for their rookies too. You see right now, teams don’t have time to work on play book and timing and cadence and protection issues. You work on those in camp. Right now, teams have games coming up, they need to implement the game plan, work on that opponent and practice that weeks game plan.

So who in the organization keeps Hue in check if he doesn’t tone things down? Is it Mark Davis? This is about the Raiders and winning and Hue needs to be reminded he is not bigger than the team. Mistic-

What you are doing now is called Grasping For Straws!

Your exact statement about Jason Campbell and Carson Palmer is…and I quote…

“He(Campbell) never complained or demanded a trade or quit like Palmer.”

Is Palmer, the first player in the NFL to complain or demand a trade?!?!?

So is EVERY player that demands a trade a QUITTER? Or is it just Palmer????

Is John Elway a quitter? What about Eli Manning? Is every player who wants out of their team because of what they perceive to be dysfunction, a QUITTER?

I’m still waiting for an answer, because your criteria for so called leadership is flawed man. And flawed in a major way.

If your criteria that you have created for Palmer, can not be applied evenly and equally to EVERY STAR PLAYER IN THE NFL, than it is fatally flawed!

Jason has developed into a GOOD NFL QB. He is better now than he was in Washington and he deserves a tremendous amount of credit for helping turn our franchise in the right direction.

But he had FLAWS too fam, and major ones. His inability to execute an NFL caliber QB slide, cost us TWICE against Cleveland. Once resulting in a FUMBLE and Twice resulting in his injury.

He did the same thing in his FIRST start for us against the Titans, and over a year later, he still hasn’t corrected that aspect of his game yet!

So it became time to pass the baton to the next man up who can lead us to a possible championship!

That man is Palmer. Stop questioning his leadership and trying to find fault with him, because of your flawed, double standard, criteria for leadership.

He’s our starter, and you need to back him JUST AS MUCH as you backed Jason Campbell! Straight up!

2009 1st round WR draft picks:

    DHB – 27/434yds 16.1ypc 1td
    Craddiva – 20/205yds 10.5ypc 0td
    MacClin – 37/489yds 13.2ypc 3tds

    Nicks – 32/508yds 15.9ypc 3tds
    Brit – 17/289yds 17.0ypc 3tds

And we all know DHB would have had crazy more yds and more tds if Campbell wasn’t throwing OOB and Boller could hit the broad side of the barn.

Yes! Didn’t Roethlisberger take Pitt. to the big game his rookie year?

Saying it may “take years” to jell might be true..to totally jell 100% but there’s no reason he shouldn’t be a QB that gets us big wins right away…ala other first year QB’s who have done so.

I agree, it will take time for the receivers to get used to him.

With that thought in mind, is it worth considering bringing in a receiver he’s used to working with…who he has “jelled with” to some extent? That would be T.O.

I agree 100%. Boller is not only NOT an effective offense mover, but he’s one of those horrible QB’s who can literally move u backwards and turn the opposing defense into an offense.

Reminds me of the Bears when they had Chad Hutchinson..or Todd Collins.
