Raiders-Broncos game declared a sellout
By Jon Becker
Thursday, November 3rd, 2011 at 12:16 pm in Oakland Raiders.
Just heard from Steve Corkran, who is covering practice, that the Raiders have declared Sunday’s home game against the Denver Broncos a sellout. The game will be telecast locally on KPIX (Channel 5).
That’s five consecutive sellouts for the Raiders this season.
Cork will post any news from practice a little later today.

Then why, still to this day, is Walt Colman not allowed by his employer to step foot in the Oakland Coli?
*********************
Because that is common place when there is a questionable call history between team and ref.
Read this link. Mike Carey doesn’t do Jaguars games either. Is there a league-wide conspiracy towards Jaguars games? Same thing with Hocholi and the Donkeys.

Right on cue, Nob Raider returns, desperate for another big dose of humiliation!
Nob, just because you have no clue how to party serious or get fly with the shorties, does not mean you have to get so worked up and frustrated.
It must take your mommy an hour to unbunch your Golden Girls signature panties.
Remember, you’re my minion for a reason. You’re here to learn and be taught how to get wiggity with Kool Moe Dee by the ultimate party master.
Now roll a fat spliff, stop being such a Brenda Walsh, and call up your BFF Peemore Bush so you can spoon the sadness away.

Great news on the sell-out.
Tebow hasn’t faced a crazy road crowd yet in his NFL career.
Last years Donkeys game was not a sell-out, and the rain forced a below-average showing.
Other than that, he had the Dolphins game when it was about 50/50 and 3 home games.
Need to next level this schmuck this weekend on the crowd noise.

Sure refs get it wrong for other teams but they like getting it wrong for us. Better believe it. We don’t have every call go against us, some go in our favor, but having PI flags picked up, unprecedented fumble-overturns, having clear TD catches overturned on MNF.
Oh yeah, it’s there. It exists, JFB. The truth is out there (X Files music).
November 3rd, 2011 at 12:44 pm
JLofty-I agree. If the unis were reversed those holds are called. While it is true the officiating sucks,it sucks more consistently against the Raiders.Just ask ex-players and coaches.
November 3rd, 2011 at 12:45 pm
I watch a LOT of Sharks games, and have for most of the last 2 decades, and NHL refs are WAAAAAAYYYYY better at their craft than NFL ones. They make mistakes and all but they get it right most of the time and appear to allow things to even themselves out over time.
November 3rd, 2011 at 12:48 pm
JLofty, I’m an ex-hockey player and fan of the sport and you’re absolutely 100% correct.
Officiating in hockey is the best, NBA the worst with the NFL 2nd worse.
In the NHL, players have a degree of control on their own game that players in other sports couldn’t possibly dream of having and it’s way more consistent.

I hear you. The worst calls to watch are on fast breaks to the rim. The refs anticipate contact. Its like the defender has to stay 3+ ft away or its an automatic and-one. That and the pump-fake jump into the defender…

NBA officiating is terrible but it isn’t a team thing.Certain players play by different rules. It is one of the reasons the game sucks.A foul by one player isn’t a foul by another. In the NFL they single out teams.NE can do no wrong yet if the Raiders play the same game the flags fly like it’s the 4th of July.It doesn’t happen to just the Raiders, but it happens to us more consistently.

One of the problems with the officials is they aren’t accountable to the public. The league will back them to no end,yet punish them behind closed doors.Their fines and any discipline by the league should be made public-just as it is for the players. Then everyone could see it is not limited to the Raiders or certain teams as people like JFB believe.

We Wouldn’t Expect Him To Spend Much More Time In Jacksonville
A few months ago, Jaguars offensive lineman Khalif Barnes was arrested and charged with a DUI. Turns out, the video of his arrested has hit the Internets, and it’s safe to say he doesn’t exactly feel all that comfortable in Jacksonville.
“This is unbelievable, man, unbelievable being a pro athlete in Jacksonville. I can’t wait to get out of here. Can’t wait,” Barnes said while handcuffed in the back of a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office patrol car. “Especially if you’re black.” About 20 minutes later, still in the patrol car, he said, “Of all the places in the — world that I came to this — hick town. They — hate us here. “Why you even want to have a pro team here? What’s the use? They don’t even — respect you.”

“If you get this on tape, this is very unfair. I passed all their tests,” Barnes said immediately after being handcuffed and placed in the patrol car off Butler Boulevard.
Barnes declined comment, but his lawyer said he regrets the statements.
“Khalif has never been arrested before. Because he was upset, he said some things he wishes he hadn’t said,” Barksdale said. “Without question, Khalif loves Jacksonville, is excited about the upcoming season and hopes to finish his career as a Jaguar.”
Jaguars spokesman Dan Edwards said the team hadn’t seen the video and couldn’t comment on its contents, which were described to him. The Times-Union offered to show him the video, but that offer was not accepted.
Co-owner Wayne Weaver responded in an e-mail that the Jaguars dealt with the drunken-driving incident appropriately.
“He understood that his conduct was unacceptable, and he apologized for embarrassing himself and his team,” Weaver said. He didn’t address Barnes’ comments on the video.
Officer D.E. Cullen pulled Barnes over Nov. 10, saying his 2007 Mercedes passed him doing 101 mph near Butler and Gate Parkway. In the video, Barnes denied driving that fast and said his three passengers could confirm that.
Cullen said in his report that he smelled alcohol and noticed Barnes’ eyes were watery and bloodshot. Barnes agreed to a field sobriety test and admitted having one drink at a club before the 10:30 p.m. traffic stop. He told Cullen the odor was from a bourbon-flavored tobacco dip in his mouth.
Later, the 309-pound lineman said he struggled with one part of the test because his legs were tired from practice that day. He didn’t appear to slur his words. He insisted he wasn’t drunk.
“You’re lying,” he told Cullen when the officer told Barnes he appeared impaired. “You’re like a Republican politician right now.”
Police said a blood-alcohol test administered at the jail showed Barnes’ level was .12 percent. Florida considers a driver impaired at .08. Barnes was benched for that weekend’s game, a 13-10 loss to Houston, and coach Jack Del Rio admonished him publicly.
“I thought he acted extremely selfishly from being out that late in the first place on a Friday night, to putting himself and other people in our community at risk,” Del Rio said in his post-game news conference.
Weaver said Tuesday that Barnes was fined the maximum amount but wouldn’t say how much. He said Barnes received counseling as a follow-up to the discipline.
Barnes appeared cooperative before his arrest, but his tone changed rapidly afterward. Though he never threatened the officer, he repeatedly blamed his arrest on racism and called Cullen a “KKK devil that hates all colored people.” He accused Cullen of arresting him “just because I’m a Jaguar.”
“I can’t wait to get out of your nice, wholesome city … your racial equality city,” Barnes said during the 50-minute video.
Cullen didn’t respond to most of Barnes’ diatribe and didn’t appear on the video to provoke the situation.
Barnes was the third Jaguar arrested on traffic charges in a two-month span last season. He questioned why police focused on him and his teammates instead of criminals responsible for the city’s high murder rate.
“You’re going to make your quota this month, and how are you going to do it? You’re going to get a Jag player,” Barnes said.

This is Huge’s first time as a head coach at any level. He is also the defacto GM now another gig he has NEVER held. I’ll cut the man some slack for a while.
I liked Hagen, thought he was both classy and modestly effective but TJ’s correct in that we need a slot WR and he has been and can be a good one.
How the cut was handled is another matter that I clearly don’t have any insight on as I was not privvy to the conversations that took place.

Didn’t like the Hagan for TJ move because:
1. Hagan younger/faster guy could have developed with wr’s as the 3rd down chain mover
2. Hagan seems to have blended well with his teammates even working with them during the bye week
3. Hagan a good role model vet works hard keeps his mouth shut
4. TJ known to complain about getting more touches
Now that TJ’s here gotta root for him and look for how he can be an upgrade over Hagan:
1. Security blanket for Carson while he’s learning other Wr’s tendencies
2. Tough mother fcker can rub off on Wr’s
3. Yes he dropped that ball in Balt, but he’s contributed in much bigger games
4. Some of the difficult balls Hagan couldn’t get to proabably would have been caught by TJ, the guy has caught anything close to him throughout his career, excluding the big drop in Balt

very important game for the raiders…i would say even more important the the chargers game. because:
1. We get to see what Carson Palmer has left in the tank. ( not expecting a great game, but would love to see how he manages the offense”
2. We get to see how Hue does with play calling ( w/o DMAC). This is important because Hue has tried to get too fancy at times and hasent used his weapons effectively

November 3rd, 2011 at 3:09 pm
Palmer just needs to hand the rock off to bush and jones all day. If I see an unbalanced play calling with more passes than rushes I will be pissed and think we are going in the wrong direction by hue trying to force the issue. Hope that’s not the case, I just want our d to play lights out and us to rack up lots of rushing yard.
November 3rd, 2011 at 6:20 pm
Everybody is underestimating the broncos… We barely beat them in the opener and Tebow is a threat to our weakest defensive link…. The middle of the field… Expect Tebow to try and gash us up the middle when the pocket breaks down… We need to do a better job on spying him than last year or it could get ugly… Offensively, I don’t know what to expect yet….. It’s like a whole new team without Campbell or McFadden…. Either way the pressure is now on Palmer to perform like a former first round, pro bowler, and most of all like our future cuz that’s what he cost us… But if he excels and becomes a threat on the field and not just some game manager, then he was worth every pick and penny….. Donkeys 13 one eyed pirates 31…. Palmer throws 2 touchdown passes while taiwan jones gets his first rushing TD

Mark is more into the business side of things compared to his old man. Those words came out of Al Davis’ own mouth.
The Niners have been buying their own tickets and giving them away for years, just to stay they sold out.
November 3rd, 2011 at 7:25 pm
The old man didn’t care about public perception when it came to not selling out and blackouts.
Mark does things a bit differently, because he is probably tired of the team being perceived in a negative light….public relations wise.

Raiders best bet is to milk the clock, and get good special teams and field position – problem is, we dont know SeaBass status. It could be an interesting game, to me, if Tebow plays the way he did v. the Lions and the Raiders pass rush, hits and wraps and they gang tackle, they should be ok. They have to put the Broncos in 3rd and long and confuse defenses.
