I want to see a nice, easy, Gruden/Gannon style victory this week. I want to turn my t.v. off when we go up 31-17. I don’t want to turn my t.v. back on, and see a score of 31-24, with Minnesota lining up for an onside. Come on, guys. Let’s play with class this week. Let’s make it official, we’re a good team in this league. Let’s go into a bad team’s stadium with our lunch boxes and hard hats, take care or business, and get back on the plane. No more letting bad teams play with us.
November 15th, 2011 at 10:22 am
But of course, I gots to keep it real. Mark me down for:
Raiders 31, Vikings 24.
Raiders will jump ahead 31-17, and nearly blow it, in Raider fashion.
But I don’t want to see that. I want us to go in and beat a team we’re supposed to beat, and do it easily.
November 15th, 2011 at 10:22 am
This is a game we should win. A game that could build momentum. A game that can change the course of a season, and thereby maybe the near future of a franchise.
This is exactly the type of game a Cable lead team would choke on.
Hue, prove yourself this week. No excuses.

November 15th, 2011 at 10:31 am
Hue finally got back to the winning recipe …. pound the ball and use play action downfield. Palmer should never throw for more than 25 passes, if he is, that means we are trailing in in the game. Pound the ball !!!!!!
Seabass might break the FG record if he 100% and gets a chance in that dome.

tom brady is like a q.b. god dude . see yall needa calm down for a second. rodgers looks amazing this season but i remember when kerry collins looked great . rodgers has a better team than brady and his scheme is gettin it done.
***********************************************
This is in fact the STUPIDEST statement ever made on this blog. The facts are the exact opposite.
Dont get me wrong, Brady is great, but he is a product of the scheme and great coaching and years of confidence building due to winning and accolades.
His 3 superbowl wins are due to a great defense and clutch passing to go along with a great running game. There’s a reason now that they struggle defensively that they havent won a championship since 2004.
Brady never dominated passing until Randy Moss came. They set records together, years after Brady had his confidence go through the roof thru years of having a great team around him.
Plug in matt Cassel the following season and this Machine STILL goes 11-5.
Rodgers is doing this with his arm. Take him out of the equation and this team is pedestrian. They would go 6-10.
It is just like Peyton Manning and the Colts. When Peyton goes out, they arent even an NFL team. He is MVP. Rodgers is MVP. But for Brady, the system and scheme is MVP.
Brady is a system product. Real fans can differential a special QB from a guy who’s confidence and entire career has been built upon CIRCUMSTANCE.
Rodgers, Manning, Brees >> Brady
These are real pure passers. Quarterbacks.
Brady gets it done with 3 yard quick screens and slants, and tempo passing to welker and his tight ends.
Sorry. It’s just the truth.
Rodgers can make every throw on the entire field and can do it with his eyes closed.
I knew they would win the game last year VS Pittsburg because the steelers defense is built on blitzing and when you have a QB who can beat the blitz, they are exposed as the frauds that they are. They can capitolize on weak teams and weak QBs and win their 11 games per year, but when it comes down to having to play real honest defense against good QBs, they get exposed.
November 15th, 2011 at 10:32 am
I think our players just need to realize that it’s ok to put their foot on an opponent’s throat. It’s ok to win. Really, guys, it is. There’s no law against winning football games. Your wife isn’t going to divorce you for winning a football game. It’s ok, really. You can beat the turd out of teams that you know you’re better than. I promise you guys, everything will be ok. It’s sports. That’s the object of the game. Some of these guys are just so used to losing, it’s almost as if they think it’s impolite to win.
November 15th, 2011 at 10:32 am
FYI it was nice to finally see some screens used and working. all clicks when we run the ball well.
November 15th, 2011 at 10:33 am
I wonder if Hue sticks to the ground game if we get stuffed early. He may whip out his crank and have Carson sling it deep often to take advantage of minnys awful secondary.
We’ll see if he learned anything from the donkey loss.

November 15th, 2011 at 10:34 am
Vikings run D is solid, very.
Its all up to our o-line and Carson audibles to create run lanes.
November 15th, 2011 at 10:35 am
You change your game plan week to week. If Hue just wears it on his sleeve that he’s going to run the ball 40 times, defenses will catch on to that. Opponents have to know what we’re a multi-faceted offense. We’ll hit you wherever there’s a weakness.
November 15th, 2011 at 10:36 am
We will have trouble with the Viqueens if they pound peterson and use a quick passing attack. Our defense can be exploited with that formula.
November 15th, 2011 at 10:39 am
If the same team that went into San Diego goes into Minnesota, we’ll handle Peterson and a quick passing attack just fine.
November 15th, 2011 at 10:40 am
The Vikings could be a much better team in the W/L column. McNabb was awful for them, Ponder has been much better. Peterson is licking his chops while looking at McGahee, Tebow success, Harvin goes into the read option/wilcat at times with AP. Our D better play lights out.

November 15th, 2011 at 10:46 am
The formula to beat the Viqueens is to score early, take the crowd out of it and take a comfortable lead. Therefor less carries for AP. Force Ponder to make throws.

Brady has 3 rings in 4 appearances in superbowl. With no elite WR or TE until Moss. I get what your saying about Cassel, but thats a tribute to bellichek … not to say Brady isn’t good. You ever watch Mallet or Hoyer in pre-season? Studs. Brady is one of the best players or ever grace the NFL at the top position. You guys are really dumb if your going to try and say Brady isn’t the best. Rodgers been doing it for what???? 2.5 years???? I dont know about spot on… Brady has NEVER had a GREAT running game. They had ok running games at times in the past, but never great. I don’t know why so many people have such a hard time giving Brady the credit. He is a damn good quarterback, on of the best ever. That is indisputable. Rodgers is in the midst of the best season a QB has ever had, if he remains true to form all the way through the season it will be one for the ages. No question Rodgers is an amazing QB, but I just don’t see how anyone can say Brady ISN’T

It is an impossible comparison. Just like when people say Lebron or Kobe are better than Jordon. You can never match them up in their prime so it is all opinion. Field day for CP and our WR’s!!!!
I don’t normally call blow outs, but I smell one coming.
November 15th, 2011 at 11:05 am
Let me put it another way:
If you were to put Manning (1st of all), Rodgers, or Brees on a bad team, I truely believe they are immediately a 10 win team or more. Because of those guys right arms. Heck even Carson from what we’ve seen thru 2 games…we’ll see down the road.
But if Brady moves to that team…I have my reservations.
There is no question he is great as far as fire, passion, leadership. But I think his immeasurable success is not due to him being a spectacular QB. It is more attributed to what he is asked to do, and how he was able to grow into his role.
A major part of success in sports is confidence. And his career and circumstances have put a ton of confidence in him over the years.
He looks great since 2007 firing those throws to his receivers, but even Dante Culpepper had a record season with Randy Moss going downfield.
Without Moss, what throws does Brady really make? Tight End down the seam, check (Jamarcus Russell was competent at that too), quick slants and screens to welker. Timing. Thats about it.
Look at the throws Rodgers, Brees and Manning make. All of them. All the time.
Just saying…if you examine it.
November 15th, 2011 at 11:05 am
Yeah but I still wouldn’t call Brady the best either! Someone asked me last year if I would take Brady on our team…I said no! Reason being is because I am not sure he would have strived here! He was at the right place at the right time…Brady is a good qb, a darn good qb, but you have to admit, he was a product of the system, also a darn good D which he had during the SB years!

I’ll 2nd that Wilt was the greatest of all time. They changed the key because of him. At Kansas, He ran the 100-yard dash in 10.9 seconds, shot-putted 56 feet, triple jumped more than 50 feet, and won the high jump in the Big Eight track and field championships three straight years(wiki). World class volleyball player. When he could not join the NBA for a year, he played for the Harlem Globetrotters and on film handled the ball like Magic.

Brien knows the truth. I supported Jason Campbell as our 2011 QB because there were no better options available.
However, I always maintained that he could never take us to the SB and that we needed to look for the QB of the future.
Palmer is that guy. He fits the bill for the next five years.

I have no doubt that our offense will score enough points to beat Minnesota. The real question is, and justifiably so, can our defense show up for 4 quarters, and not have the stupid mental meltdowns that cause us to give away so many games.

I 1st saw Wilt at the L.A. Sports arena when he was with the Phil. Warriors. That was the year he averaged 50 pts a game. Wilt, Hal Greer, Billy Cunningham, Wally ? and Luke Jackson. That was the year Elgin Baylor averaged 38 a game. Dble Ot, Wilt scored 70+ and Baylor 63. Lakers lost. They has Darrel Imhoff at center, the former Knicks center who Wilt got 100 on.

We HAVE to jump out to an early lead, and force them to put the game in Ponders hands, and out of AP’s. If AP gets more than 25 carries we lose.

“We continue to point out that the U.S. economy and the earnings season have been quite a bit better than expected,” said Brad Sorensen, director of market and sector analysis at the Schwab Center for Financial Research.

It’s a great day to be a Raiders fan. Isn’t it?!
Who’s better, Elway or Brady?
Having seen both of them (and other greats) play for years, in person, I have to say Elway’s the best/most talented QB I’ve ever seen on a field.
Elway was NEVER surrounded with the talent Brady has had at his disposal. If the Raiders acquired Elway in the 80’s, as Al tried to do, Elway would’ve probably at least doubled his Super Bowl trophies.
Brady’s an all-time great, no doubt…but Elway did everything Brady does, and then some with his legs. Elway elevated “average” pro players to greatness…Brady elevates above-average players to greatness. With a little help from upstairs too, ya dig.
Even with a stacked roster, and all those “hollow” records from the Randy Moss days (championship?), Brady’s not a better QB than Elway. Same stratosphere, but no way is he better.

Arum didnt like the fact that the Money camp already has taken the May 5th date at the MGM without talkin the Arum first. Now they are claiming Arum doesnt want the fight? I think the heavyweight division of pro boxing has been the first true casualty of UFC style fighting. It’s just too slow for what fight fans want to see today. It’s too bad, too. Ali, Frazier, Foreman…Even Tyson and Hollyfield just 15 years ago. But there hasn’t been much since then. The fast pace of UFC style fighting has made heavyweight boxing boring to fight fans.

Maywaether doesnt help himself with his antics, bravado and outlandish claims.. and i agree his chin hasnt really been tested enough to know how he will respond, he did get chicken legs vs mosley,
if Manny hit him like manny caught hatton he may not get up..
But money bullied marquez, at will he took his shots an didnt even get hit for 12 rounds, i think money wins unamious, but i dont see them ever making the fight..
and as years go by they will always say the two needed to fight but never did..which would be a shame…
i was also extrmely dissapointed with David Haye in his title fight, thought we were about to see soemthing special.. nahhhhhh

Playoff predictor now points Raiders’ way
November, 15, 2011
Nov 152:00PM ETEmailPrintComments215By Bill WilliamsonESPN.com’s Insider playoff predictor has been illustrating just how fast change has occurred and how unpredictable the AFC West has been the past few weeks.
For the third straight week, the predictor projects a new winner in the division. This week it is Oakland. The predictor believes the Raiders will get in the playoffs at 8-8. It figures Oakland has a 53.3 percent chance to make the playoffs. Two weeks go, the predictor tabbed Kansas City, and last week San Diego was the projected division winner.
But Oakland is the clear favorite at this point. It is 5-4, and the other three teams in the division are 4-5. Oakland has the easiest remaining schedule in the division. This race if far from over, but Oakland is now in the driver’s seat
November 15th, 2011 at 12:57 pm
i was also extrmely dissapointed with David Haye in his title fight, thought we were about to see soemthing special.. nahhhhhh

The fight will happen…but they both might be way past their prime when it does.
Money wont be able to counterpunch Manny without being hit. Marquez had to go offensive in that fight (Money would win an easy decision if he didnt).
You want to talk about fake? Talk about how Mosley didnt throw a hard punch after that. Watch the fight again. It was almost like an “oops…my bad” hit.
David Haye could talk it up but maaaaaaaan did he not show up. Not quick enough to get thru that jab. And how the heck does a heavyweight fighter use a JAB and win through a WHOLE fight. Who they heck wants to see that?!?

Fair enough. I was surprised how close they were stat wise.
November 15th, 2011 at 1:43 pm
Yeah thats interesting how close the stats are, bush kind of goes unnoticed.. not often that bush doesnt get the yards like 13-14 carries for 40 odd yards, he always grinds out a decent total when given the oppurtunity..
lets just say someone will pay him at years end.
November 15th, 2011 at 1:45 pm
I just hope it’s us.
But when Bush gets the start he puts up McFadden number minus the 60 yards TD.

November 15th, 2011 at 1:49 pm
McFadden is a complete RB when healthy. Bush is a deserving starter and in all cases were fortunate to have such a great duo. Panthers have Williams/Stewart …. Giants have Jacobs/Bradhsaw ….. its concievable that Bush could stay as long as we give him a solid contract. The organization gave him a chance drafting him 4th round after he broke his leg in the midst of a heisman season for his senior season that he fully missed. He might be working a carwash if it weren’t for AL.
November 15th, 2011 at 1:49 pm
This exchange grabbed my attention:
12:53 Comment From loyal:
Who do you see in the afc championship game?
12:53 Steve Corkran: Patriots and Raiders.
Right on, Steve-O. I love it! And I think there’s a good chance he’s right. When we get McFadden back with Palmer flinging these deep rainbows, Bush plowing into the secondary. Moore and Ford scorching the earth. And, hopefully, the defense rising to the challenge like we know it’s capable of when it plays with heart. We will be dangerous. Very, very dangerous.
I recall going into that Pats game I was worried about getting embarrassed. But as I was watching it, I came to this realization: we were the more talented team … and Palmer brings us another dimension. We didn’t get the win that day. A couple of breaks went their way and we had a couple of turnovers at inopportune times. But I trust my eyes when I watch a game more than the outcome. The Patriots have Brady, which is huge. But we have the better roster top-to-bottom.
November 15th, 2011 at 1:50 pm

Bill Russell was listed at 6′9 1/2. Like Kevin Garnett listed at 6′11″. Both over 7′. Remember what Chamberlain said, “no one roots for Goliath.” Met Russell once when he came into my dad’s store. November 15th, 2011 at 2:05 pm
McFadden to me was the best RB in the league through the first 6 games this season. Bush is also excellent. Was very happy when we got him in the 4th round. Both can pick up tough yards, punish defenders and do damage in the passing game.
McFadden’s explosiveness makes him the hands-down winner though.
Sorry, MB. Love ya and you’ve been great whenever given a shot to start in your career here.
November 15th, 2011 at 2:06 pm
Sadly the A’s will probably be a casualty of the Great Wall Street Heist. I imagine they’ll move to another locale. West Coast baseball is just suffering right now and there’s really not enough room for two MLB teams in the bay area. But the Raiders are staying put. Probably a Fremont stadium, keeping the Oakland Raider name.

If Bush and McFadden are really good friends, and Bush understands that he will be given his opportunities during the course of the year, and the Raiders pony up and give him a decent contract and we make a playoff run this season I think Bush might come back.
If not, then we just sign another RB….usually a lot of them are available in the offseason. Not a big loss. If we ship out McFadden, we will not find another McFadden for a decade or two.
November 15th, 2011 at 2:13 pm
Al’s Mark is no dummy. If a shiny new stadium opportunity arises (his daddy’s dream), Mark will be interested…no matter where it’s at.
Sure, he’d be more interested in certain places over others, but there’s no way Mark isn’t looking at the LA stadium plans. A predominately private stadium concern would probably be able to deliver what they promise, too…as opposed to the politicians who screwed it all up in LA, and in Oakland twice.
Mark MUST listen to stadium plans, even if it means they’re outside the Bay Area…otherwise, he wouldn’t be doing his job. If the city of Oakland, if the East Bay, want to keep the Raiders, they need to get with the times. There are ways to get things done…and it takes bold strokes to do it…but, it’s time. The Raiders are going to get a new stadium. Somewhere.

No matter how good DMC is…MBush29 is a starter-quality RB, and he gets it done when he’s in there.
Replacing 4.5 yds per carry, with soft and reliable hands out of the backfield, isn’t as easily done as said. If DMC were to miss the rest of the season (thankfully, he won’t – gulp), MBush would be the workhorse back to ride when called upon. He answers the call the way a starter does.

I agree and backed MB at the time as well. Playing FB and playing RB are completely different positions with very few overlapping skills. A true FB is more like a MLB or offensive lineman.
Trying to move Bush to FB was just one of those dumb Tom Cable ideas. Not quite as bad as the Lechler-Seabass Harlem Globetrotters fake FG, but certainly not one of his better calls.
November 15th, 2011 at 2:25 pm
David Stern is losing it? He is simply using scary language to try and manipulate the players into panicking and taking the deal. The owners have hundreds of millions in the bank, and they have the ability to think long term. The players are trying to make enough money right now to secure their families. They miss a few paychecks and it will be full on panic time for the players.
I am rooting for the players in this. A flexible salary cap benefits the Lakers.

DMC is a special (read: fast) talent…and a wonderful weapon to have. When he’s on the field. And when he’s not, the Raiders running game does not collapse. That’s because MBush29 is just as good as DMC, just different.

Backs are a dime a dozen you never see them drafted that high anymore unless its a rare superstar like AP or DMAC.
We will draft a guy in the third round next year to replace Bush like we drafted 2 CB’s last year and the year before to replace Nnamdi.

Restructure DHB’s deal? DHB made all of his money in year 2…..when there was no salary cap. I think DHB has a pretty pedestrian payment schedule for his remaining years. DHB made like $22 million in 2010. Can’t get that money back.

“The Raiders are Oakland.”
To you me and our fan base yes they are.
But no one is doing anything here in the Bay Area to keep them here.
The only hope we have of them staying past their lease is if we share a stadium with the 9ers. If someone was building a stadium in the Bay Area right now I would see it differently but I doubt we renew our lease when it runs out in 2013.
So its either LA or Santa Clara.

How many drops does DHB have this year? How many do the other WR’s have?? DHB hasn’t been a problem.
November 15th, 2011 at 2:48 pm
DHB will make a little over 1 million next year. No reason to cut him at that price. Like Dakota said he already got paid.
November 15th, 2011 at 2:49 pm

Wimbley, Kelly, Routt, Huff and McClain should be the main targets for restructured deals. I think Kelly has already restructured. Wimbley and Huff are stealing.
Wimbley’s contract should have been cut in half when he let Teblow burn him late in the game on the same play he got us with in the first half.
Wimbley is a one-trick pony and a liability against the run….does not deserve that much money.

—
I have to say, I agree 100% with the train of thought you are expresing with these posts.
I look at this team and think there i NO REASON we should have to worry about teams like Minnesota; on the road or not, and yet…i’m worried cuz of what i saw with Denver (twice), Cleveland (shoul’ve won going away) Jets, heck EVERY GAME including San Diego…should’ve dominated.
I too, i’m sick of still being worried when we’re up two TD’s. Finish it and add on. Nothing wrong with that.
November 15th, 2011 at 2:51 pm
1- Somebody mentioned Mat Millen as the GM in todays chat. Pray that it doesnt happen. He destroyed the lions for several years as a GM, bad picks. Some hated Al Davis as a GM now they are suggesting Mat Millen?
2- Whatever happens during the rest of the season, if raiders collapse or not, will determine McFadden status. If the raiders collapse, trade him for a 1st round pick, and sign Bush. By far a better decision personnel wise.
November 15th, 2011 at 2:53 pm
JT, I heard Reggie Mckenzie, from Packers, is being interviewed for GM position. It would be great to hire someone from a team like the Packers who know what they are doing. Just think about it, the Raiders will be run like a real NFL franchise.

Palmer’s remaining contract is going to have to be dealt with too…..I know we lose Campbell’s $5 million off the books, and we also save money by not having a first rounder next year, but he makes a ton. Not sure who else is a FA other than Bush…..Branch?

Re-Post
This is where the versatility of Marcel Reece pays off in a game like today. I expect to see Rock a couple plays on offense. Marcel watchin one eye on Allen and the other one Carson will help pocket protection.
Then there’s this:
That puts the onus for improvement squarely on cornerback Cedric Griffin, whose comeback from a second reconstructive knee surgery – he has torn the anterior cruciate ligament in each leg – has been a struggle. He hasn’t missed any time, but his production and ability to stick with opposing top receivers has been spotty.
http://www.vikings.com/news/article-1/Packers-Pose-Big-Challenge-For-Vikings-Secondary/72eb9b0a-ad02-4705-a998-d311c8aa3d78
Source
Make what you will out of it, Chris Cook is not in the plans of the team, there best corner isn’t playing. I’d like to see Denarius gets some touches. I can see a reverse or two. He’ll blow by Cedric Griffin, it’s a matchup to take advantage. Our speed is a great asset, here, so is our muscle.
Minny’s OLine is flaky. Johnson does not do a sufficient job protecting the blindside of Minnesota’s quarterbacks. More often than not it is his frame standing over his fallen quarterback as he allows another sack, Hutchinson isn’t the force he was. Herrera go on and on. Houston and Bryant should have a sack a piece.

People are still drawing up Raider stadium scenarios overlooking that management has changed drastically. Everything’s different now. Mark Davis is not Al Davis. Some think the team might be moved to LA. Does that mean they repackage Al and send him South too. Somehow, I don’t think so. The Raiders are born & bred in Oakland. They are Oakland’s team and they belong in Oakland. this team reflects the city it represents. Moving it out of Oakland would be a travesty.
November 15th, 2011 at 3:38 pm
Honestly though.. there’s a lot of sh!t head raider fans in Oakland as well.. there’s sh!t head fans in every city.

With Al Davis dead, the Raiders have to be the #1 target of So-Cal.
And no amount of nostalgic whining, from somebody who wasn’t even there, is going to trump the figures.

Let’s talk about mystique. Where does the Black Hole come from. When they removed and reconfigured the L.A.seating on the perisyle entrance by the Olympic torch, they put new seating in that area called the “Pirates Cove”. When they returned to Oakland, a similar area was created, “The Black Hole.”

I’m from northern Cali. You gonna try to argue that one? Seriously? I’m down in LA plenty and have seen it first hand.
Chew on this:
SAN BERNARDINO – The Oakland Raiders, a dozen years after fleeing Los Angeles, finished the 2006 regular season with a 2-14 record — the worst in the NFL.
Despite the teams’ embarrassing performance, silver-and-black attired Raider Nation fans significantly outnumber any other sports team appearing daily at the main San Bernardino County courthouse in downtown San Bernardino.
Criminal gang prosecutors are unimpressed.
“Generally speaking, those wearing Raiders gear in Southern California are associated with gangs,” said Cheryl Kersey, who leads the hard-core gang prosecution unit for the San Bernardino County district attorney’s office.
“Most Southern California gangs have adopted the Raiders, probably 90 percent,” Kersey said. “We rarely see other attire from other sports teams.”
In her office, Kersey has five black hats confiscated during search warrants involving gangs. She said they are used to train law enforcement on recognizing gang symbols.
One is a Raiders hat doctored to reflect an Inland Empire gang connection. The others are also black with lettering reflecting gang names.
Gangs first pick their colors, then find a team that coincides with them, Kersey said. Black is popular among Hispanic gangs in Southern California, she said.
Raiders gear dominates the courthouse because gang members must adopt the team as their own when they join, she said.
“You pledge loyalty,” she said. “No individuals are allowed.”
Gang membership dictates the cars members drive, the women they date and the teams they like, Kersey said.
“If they weren’t a Raiders fan before joining a gang, they certainly will become one,” she said.
Gang prosecutor Doug Poston said the Raiders’ bad-boy image — a pirate with a swashbuckling attitude — is the attraction.
November 15th, 2011 at 3:43 pm
The key sign that the Raiders will be in play is an exibition game in L.A. Like the preseason game in Oakland when they were in L.A.

Lets say Mark wants to move the team to LA, but Oakland gets to keep the Raider name and history, but things fall through and Oakland can’t support a team and the Raiders become history, what team would you then root for? The new LA Team?
I know Brien would jump on the 49er bandwagon, what about the rest of you guys?
—
Just like what they did with the Browns? The Baltimore Ravens are really the “original” Browns and then Cleveland got an expansion team and called them “Browns”. Wonder if any old school Browns fans root for Ravens.
So Oakland would have an expansion team called the Oakland Raiders and Mark would comeup with a brand new LA team name, brand, logo etc. but THAT team would be Al Davis’s old Oakland Raiders franchise?
I don’t know, that would be weird.

The main barrier to the Raiders moving in the past was Al Davis. Because, nobody wanted him as part of ANY package.

Not necessarily true.
Most of us got into the Raiders for the Image thing, but a lot of it was because we identified with them. They came from Cali, they were bad@sses, they were a winner at the time and they had Al Davis, with his middle finger to the world. We appreciated that he wanted to be in LA bad enough to go to court for it.
My experience is different, because I was a fan of the football team before anything. The colors and history are appealing but Bo Jackson and Marcus Allen really brought me in.
So happens there is no red or blue in the Raiders colors and that works well in LA.
November 15th, 2011 at 3:53 pm

That whole thing remained. I think alot of people saw them as the “anti LA” despite playing there. Or better said, the Raiders seemed to have embodied the “bad boy” part of LA. That was the image, and alot of people didn’t like it.
I think that is why there is still quite a contingent of Raider love in LA today; Raiders embodied that “anti hollywood” image, and many embraced it and still do.

I admit I have limited experience with the “Oak/LA” Raider issue, but I flew to LA from Chi. for a business trip and decided to go to the famous Venice Beach (rained all week i was there but that’s another story) and popped in this bar right off the beach and watched SD play the Jets (at home in the playoffs) and to my surprise almost EVERYBODY in that bar was rooting AGAINST SD and there were a ton of Raider shirts, hats, etc. being worn and I felt right at home.
It seemed everywhere I went in LA area I would see Raider bumper stickers, guys wearing Raider stuff etc. and I would chat some of them up and ask about their allegiance to the Raiders. I’d tell them I was from Chicago and all that and one asked me “why aren’t u a Bears fan then?” I told him that’s just the way it is, and that I grew up loving the bad boy Raiders. He eemed surprised. He told me there’s tons of Raider fans in LA.
Anyway, I have much love for the folks out there. I’ve been lots of places and the folks in Southern Cal. were some of the coolest folks I’ve ever met.

By Bill Williamson
The NFL has honored Oakland Raiders running back Michael Bush as the AFC offensive player of the week for his performance in a 24-17 Oakland win at San Diego Thursday.
Bush had 157 yards on 30 carries in the win. He had 78 yards in the first quarter.
Bush’s big game showed how dangerous Oakland’s running game can be. He is the backup to Darren McFadden, who has been out since Week 7 with a foot injury.
It is not known if McFadden can play Sunday at Minnesota, but he is expected to be back fairly soon.

I remember going to the l.a. memorial coliseum… the attraction was always what was happening in the stands not on the field.. you had the entire raiders sideline looking up to the stands instead of concentrating on the game at hand..pathetic..
—————
Haha, I remember that as a kid when my Dad would take me. We had binoculars and I always remember us finding fights in the stands. I remember one Denver game that got out right brutal. I think we counted and saw 13 fights break out. Also, that Denver fan that wears that barrel was about 10 rows in front of us. He got doused with beer and everything else. He left during the 3rd quarter.

Ghost, I think he got some type of stress fracture which is usually healed by not applying stress for a few weeks!
Most of the time a stress fracture cannot be detected by x-ray or MRI…the best treatment is resting.

Can’t wait to watch the Donkeys game on Thursday.
Will be in El Paso with el jefe who is a Tebow fanatic to the Nth degree.
If Tebow flounders, I will get every excuse in the book. If he flourishes, free drinks all night I’m sure.
Can’t lose.

I’d say Montana and Elway are the relatively recent Jordan and Kobe of the NFL…..and Brady is more like the Clyde Drexler of the NFL….HOFer, All-time Great, Champion…but not quite in the top top rung.
***************
You clearly has mental issues. Tom brady is the best, check every stat, every record, every W-L %, he has 3-4 more years of a high level left too. Elway didn’t get the SB wins till he had the best RB in the game in Terrel davis at the time. He was old and that team rallied around him. Brady been to a superbowl when his “star WR” was troy brown. enough said. STFU.
Elway? really? elway!? omg. your delierious.
==========================================
Elway went to five Super Bowls winning the last two. Quick, name all the Hall of Famers Elway played with, and name all the Hall of Famers Tom Brady played with. Also, remember passing rules were greatly liberalized in the last few years. There is even “The Brady Rule” where opposing defensive linemen can’t go low on Q’s. Imagine guys like Namath, Elway and Fouts playing without dlinemen diving at their legs their entire careers and pass blocking and defending favoring passing attacks.

You got to think Tebow is going to fall flat on his face on the Prime Time moment against a D that can get in his azz, but I learned about 5 years ago that you aren’t going to make any type of living betting against Tim Tebow.

Of course I was kidding when I said “Darren who”, but there is one tried and true way for players to heal quickly: and that is when their backup comes in and tears sh** up.

As far as Ponder this weekend, I liked the kid in college and think he may be a decent pro. Strong arm, very, very mobile and athletic, smart and plays with poise.
One thing that lingered with him in college was that he would get “dinged” often. I think that is something that we can maybe exploit a little, rough him up and force McNabb’s out of shape azz onto the field.

Hey guys , just curious who won the rookie of the week .. I know bush fedex ground player did DWOW win another rookie of the week award or not ?
November 15th, 2011 at 6:27 pm
Ponder is a hard working smart guy. I think he already has a Masters degree. I thought he looked real good yesterday in only his 3rd start. I hate to say it but I think we are going to have our hands full in this next game. Again, it’s load the box time for AP and let’s see if Palmer can have another perfect rating thru 3 quarters.

I’m very nervous about this game… I can’t remember the last time we beat Minnesota. . I’m sure its been awhile. . I expect a tough hard fought game.. I hope we blow them out.. be that’s wishful thinking. . The easiest game we’ve had this season was vs the browns. And we almost screwed that game up… I say we win 27-24..

Good Stuff from the Chat..love this exchange tho:
Q: who replaces cooper next year?
A: Might be Joseph Barksdale or Bruce Campbell. Coach Jackson will give Campbell one more shot to show what he’s capable of doing. Campbell needs to work hard during the offseason and show up to camp healthy, though.
Five Freakin Questions Later We Get:
Q:Any Pro Bowl worthy O-Lineman this year? They’ve kept the QBs pretty clean.
A:At this point, Jared Veldheer, followed by Stefen Wisniewski and Cooper Carlisle.
Its Sh!t like this that bugs the living f()ck out of me about Raider Fan sometimes…”Who is going to replace Cooper next year?” “Oh, you mean the guy that should go to the Pro-Bowl this year”

Interesting that they make Bush player of the week when the headline of the game said ‘Palmer Leads Raiders over Chargers.’
Bush rocked, but I thought DMoore was huge as well as Palmer.

All true, but McFadden takes that screen and one of those runs to the hizzy instead of Bush…probably two runs..a Healthy McFadden for the Chargers game, and it would have been blow out city USA…
