RB McFadden, WR Ford, DT Seymour not at practice
By Steve Corkran
Thursday, November 17th, 2011 at 10:50 am in Oakland Raiders.
Running back Darren McFadden, wide receiver Jacoby Ford and defensive tackle Richard Seymour aren’t practicing today, as has been the case all week.
This all but rules out McFadden and Ford from playing Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings, given coach Hue Jackson is hesitant to use players in games when they don’t practice at all in the days leading up to a game.
In Seymour’s case, he still might play because he isn’t suffering from as severe an injury, as are McFadden (foot) and Ford (foot). He has a sore ankle but still made it through the San Diego Chargers game last Thursday night.
“He’s going to be fine,” Jackson said of Seymour on Wednesday. “Richard will be fine. Again, we got some guys that we got to make sure we take care of and look out for. This is a long season, and you got to make sure we get guys to the game healthy.”
McFadden watched part of practice Wednesday, without wearing a protective boot on his right foot, according to Jackson. That qualified as “huge progress,” Jackson said. McFadden was not on the field this morning, though he might make another appearance within the next 90 minutes.
Taiwan Jones is fielding kicks in practice. He is the leading candidate to handle that chore against the Vikings if Ford can’t play.
Cornerback Chimdi Chekwa isn’t at practice, which portends a setback from the hamstring injury that has dogged him the past several weeks. He practiced Wednesday and appeared to be making solid progress toward a return to full health. More on that later, once we get a chance to speak with Jackson and Chekwa.
Free safety Michael Huff (ankle) is practicing and showing no ill effects from the injury that sidelined him for the Chargers game.
“I ran a little bit at practice today, got some more reps, so I’ll definitely be ready this week,” Huff said after Wednesday’s practice.
Huff has missed two games this season after not missing any his first five NFL seasons.

Bcz,
It’s a simple question.
If Al Davis really didn’t care about blackouts because he was such a rebel and a maverick, why did he ask for an extension so many times to beat the thursday deadline?
November 17th, 2011 at 10:54 am
Rebels don’t ask for extensions, Bcz. lmfao

“He doesn’t play like a rookie, he doesn’t act like a rookie, he doesn’t study like a rookie, he doesn’t practice like a rookie,” Palmer said. “He comes to work like a veteran, like he’s been here for a handful of years, like he’s got a bunch of experience and makes plays against veterans.”

You guys are lost. Pay attention.
1) With the rare exception of a team buying out the last thou or so of seats to prevent a blackout of a nationally televised game, teams do not buy up huge chunks of tickets. Makes zero sense. No reason to do it. 2)Niner fans have kept their seats through the prosperous years, and the lean years. Choosing to blow a Sunday when the team isn’t doing well is up to the holder.
3)IMPORTANT FACT. The stick has one of the worst accesses in the NFL. Horrible parking, with it spread out all over. Takes forever to park, and get in, especially if lots are flooded. You look at the stands during kickoff, and again in the second qtr. and you see a huge difference.
4)Yorks have proved to not only not be “skinflints” as the dumbazz above stated, but have routinely spent and spent. They pay their players AND their coaches very well.
5)Considering the 49ers had up to 20,000 on a waiting list for season tickets, really ignorant to say Eddie D had to buy even one ticket.
Now you know.

Just finished reading an excellent article on Denarius Moore..
Denarius Moore is the perfect sleeper, because he doesn’t say much. Correction, “Denarius Moore doesn’t say anything,” Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer said.
From the day the rookie receiver stepped on the field at training camp, Moore has been quietly making loud catches. And the wows – the finger-tip 46-yard catch plus two touchdowns against the Chargers last Thursday – and the hows – he somehow lasted until the fifth round of the NFL draft – just keep coming.
“He’s the best rookie I have ever seen,” Raiders tight end Kevin Boss said. “He makes incredible plays … almost every day since camp.”
Backup quarterback Kyle Boller was so impressed that first week of camp, he called his dad just to tell him about the fifth-round pick out of Tennessee.
“He’s just a natural,” Boller said. “There are certain guys who just have a knack for the game. He is so fluid running routes, has a great feel and knows where to be. Plus, he attacks the ball and has great hands. It’s ridiculous how he slipped to the fifth round.”
The 148th player selected, the 6-foot, 195-pound Moore has 23 catches for 396 yards and four touchdowns, plus 45 yards and a TD rushing. Nineteen of those catches have been for first downs.
Not only does he not say much, but Moore isn’t overly impressed by what he has accomplished thus far. Take the catch Thursday, when he caught the back end of the ball with his finger tips while on a dead run and his arms fully extended.
“I didn’t know it was anything special until after the game, when all my family and friends were texting me about it,” he said. “Then I watched it again and yeah, it was pretty good. But at the time, after I caught it, I was just thinking about the next play. …
“If it’s in the area and it touches yours hands, you’re supposed to catch it.”
And this guy’s a rookie? Some experienced receivers would have done a cartwheel and some pelvic thrusts after a catch like that.
Just like Boller and Palmer, Jason Campbell – the Raiders’ starting quarterback the first six games before getting hurt – said Moore immediately caught his eye.
Early impression
“From the first day, it was effortless for him,” Campbell said. “The game isn’t too big for him. He’s just so smooth, and he goes and gets the ball.”
So, everybody here can see it. How in the world did the scouts miss it.
“I don’t know and I don’t care,” Raiders coach Hue Jackson said. “We draft good players, and we got a great one in him. He is a playmaker, and that’s the best compliment you can give a receiver.”
Moore was a playmaker in high school – his Tatum (Texas) High team won two Class-2A state titles and he was also the state champion in the 110-meter high hurdles – as well as in college. At Tennessee in 2010, he averaged 20.9 yards per catch – second-best in the nation – and was the only player with a pair of 200-yard receiving games.
Inconsistency hurt
But Moore also had three games with less than 20 yards, so maybe scouts knocked him for consistency.
“He always had explosive-play ability,” Tennessee coach Derek Dooley said, “but he only really had a five-game stretch with great production. I am sure that was a question mark.”
Well, scouts could have gone a long way to answering that by looking at the Vols’ quarterback situation, and what happened when they switched from Matt Simms to Tyler Bray. After Moore had 18 catches for 257 yards in the first seven games, he had 29 for 724 in the last six – including a six-catch, 228-yard performance against South Carolina, and seven catches for 205 yards against Kentucky.
Tennessee receivers coach Charlie Baggett thinks Moore also got too easily frustrated early last season, and it affected him on the field.
“He would lose patience and get upset, and we told him there’s only one football and we can’t get it to you every play,” Baggett said.

More free facts.
Al Davis always felt the Raiders were a team that fans would always support. Felt he could sell out any stadium. Actually felt he could screw over fans and they would still support the team at the gate.
He cared about every $ coming in, and resented that Niner fans bought season tickts year after year, while his meddling chased away fans. Blackouts are the ultimate embarrassment to Al. Says he’s wrong on how many Raider nation are out there. Was a fact he knew many fans jumped ship, and followed the Niners, and never came back.

I agree the raiders need a loyal fan base in the seats and larger season-ticket holder population. o.co is a small NFL stadium and it doesn’t even sell-out. This year has been great but still could be a better environment. The chiefs game last year was the best I seen it. With AL done, I know investors and diff people will be more willing to work with the raiders and the community and build it back up, hopefully a new younger generation of fans start to fill the seats too. bottom line: raiders get back to the top, the movement will revivie the fans and season tickets will go up fast.

True, all teams have fairweather fans, but no one as big as SD! Only when they were winning have you seen them (and yes, I used to live in SD). Raiders have always had the top merchandise sales, and even during the 2-14 campaign, there were always silver and black everywhere! And not just in the Bay….

The Vikings’ Adrian Peterson, widely viewed as the best running back in the NFL, said McFadden is one of the few other backs in the league he will make a point to watch.
“There are not too many guys that I watch or I’m excited to watch, but he’s one of those guys,” Peterson said in a conference call. “He’s a north-and-south player, great speed, quick feet, athletic, catches the ball well. Just like me, I’m sure there are things he would love to improve on, but outside of that, he’s a guy I respect, and I like the way he runs the ball. I can’t say that about a lot of other backs.”

Yeah, Raiders have lots wearing silver and black. You need to read up to figure out why so many wear the colors but don’t have clue one about the team, the schedule.

Chekwa on IR …. Bryan McCann signed to roster.
November 17th, 2011 at 12:42 pm
Minnesota lost a lot of games early in the season with collapses in the second half, like us.
It’s clear that our defense is still susceptible to a really good runner, in this case Peterson, and to anyone who moves outside the pocket, and Ponder can do that.
What concerns me most, however, is playing on the really fast track of artificial turf. Teams who aren’t recently used to playing on it or those not used to playing on it frequently (us), often have early adjustment problems and Peterson is already enough of a problem.
Secondly, ever notice how team not used to playing on turf seem to fumble more than usual? At first thought, it wouldn’t seem that artificial turf would correlate to more fumbles (since the ground can’t cause a fumble under the rules), but I think what happens is that runners and receivers not used to the fast track have body and mind reactions to the difference and get careless with the mechanics of holding on to the ball. Any action that is suddenly faster than that one is used to, whether riding a bike, driving a car, playing an instrument up-tempo, or carrying a football, poses greater risk, and the players and coaches, I hope, have considered that risk management is important here.
November 17th, 2011 at 12:43 pm
I know a lot of Cowboys fans… they were mad when Bryan McCann was let go, he is gonna be a solid player! Good signing for Oakland!
November 17th, 2011 at 12:44 pm
He’s the guy who picked off Eli Manning last year, and returned it 101 yards. Then in the next game he returned a 97-yeard punt return for a tocuhdown. Also in Madden 12 there is a achievement named after him. So I say it’s a OK pick up

The Oakland Raiders have signed defensive back Bryan McCann, formerly of the Baltimore Ravens, and placed rookie CB Chimdi Chekwa on injured reserve.

Really?
Let’s hope CJ37 & DVD get back quickly – in time to face Aaron Rodgers
He would carve up guys like Sheppard & McCann!

Whoaaaa now, Chris Johnson is terrible, Lito is an upgrade in a big way..CJ gets PI every set of downs.. i dont care if he got cut.

BM20,
you’re judging CJ37 based upon 2 games in which he was playing HURT?
tough crowd!

I dunno RRockstar.
DVD and CJ over Mccann and Lito?
It might be a draw, but I would take the latter. Mccann will surprise a few…he can play. Lito has the vet knowhow.

#34, great read. I loved what I heard about Moore in camp and he hasn’t let anyone down. He may go down as the last Raidre great Al drafted.
Then there’s this “And this guy’s a rookie? Some experienced receivers would have done a cartwheel and some pelvic thrusts after a catch like that.”
Aaron Curry would’ve jumped into the stands after an INT like that, based on the way he celebrates a team mates sack!

When you feel you have to go to another teams board, to point to a comment a simple fan made, it means you feel you need help.
Of course rich people buy bigger blocks.
I replied the Niners are not buying up tickets, that the fans sell out the stadium.
You just proved my case.
Thank you.
Now go take your meds.
*****************************
Um the other teams board was relevant becuz you said Raiders had most badnwagon fans in NFL….i countered and said the niners and then showed you what niner season ticket holders were saying. PEDOchet just like onthat same site I showed you where one ofthe members of that site proved Al Davis was responsible for the 49ers success…funny thing is when Al died the York/Debartilo family seconded what I said
That board isthe biggest 49er board on the internet so it was quite relevant
And by you admitting richer people buy up bigger blocks just adds more points for the B@uce. Those empty seats you see at Candlebtch is exact proof of that! Those rich fks give tix away and if no one wants them…no biggie to them…anyone who lives up here knows this. and those same rich people bought season tickets wayt in advance becuz they thought niners would win forever and when they didnt show they were elite all you saw was orange seats in SF….so again you lose lol
My meds are Don Julio and Fat Tire while yours is listening to Modest Mouse and watching re-runs of the Care Bears

No im not, hes a liablity and he gets beat repeataly, “bar” his pick 6 vs the broncos early last year hez been ghastly .. he gives PI on 6 yard out routes.. No other CB gives up yards like CJ..

did we sign him off somebodys practice squad or off the street?
Exactly my point.
I figured TJ Housh would look old & slow. He does. I figured Lito would look better than Ron Parker. He does. Still not a world beater
I can evaluate talent. need a return man? sign Johnnie Lee!
November 17th, 2011 at 1:06 pm
i don’t dog on any raider for no reason, i commend dudes trying to play hurt and anyone on the field has my full support, but CJ is not good…Id have Lito in a second, just look at the body of work its not even close.

Bcz,
It’s a simple question.
If Al Davis really didn’t care about blackouts because he was such a rebel and a maverick, why did he ask for an extension so many times to beat the thursday deadline?
