Seymour is no lock to start
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Friday, November 18th, 2011 at 12:52 pm in Oakland Raiders.
Defensive tackle Richard Seymour missed practice for the fourth time this week. Coach Hue Jackson remained optimistic Seymour will play against Minnesota, but he sounded a little more guarded than on Wednesday and Thursday.
“I feel good about it, but we’ve still got to see,” Jackson said Friday following practice. “I was surprised he wasn’t able to go today, but that’s part of it. Again, we’re going to make sure we’re going to caution on the side of health for this football team.”
Another notable development was that safety Michael Huff sustained “a little bit of a setback” and will be evaluated Saturday and Sunday morning. Both Huff and Seymour were listed as “questionable,” as was fullback Manase Tonga (knee).
Also questionable are cornerback DeMarcus Van Dyke (hamstring) and safety Mike Mitchell (ankle).
Listed as probable are place kicker Sebastian Janikowski (hamstring), safety Matt Giordano (quad) and center Samson Satele (knee) and tight end Kevin Boss (knee).
Running back Darren McFadden and wide receiver Jacoby Ford are both out of the Minnesota game, along with corneback Chris Johnson (groin) and quarterback Jason Campbell (clavicle).

Defensive coordinator Chuck Bresnahan isn’t kidding when he said the Raiders need to be successful against the run if they want to beat the Vikings.
And that has far more to do with the fact that Adrian Peterson is, perhaps, the league’s best running back. The stats bear out the fact, as well.
In Oakland’s five victories, they held the opposing teams to an average of 69.6 yards rushing (3.5-yard average) and allowed only one touchdown. In its four losses, Oakland’s defense allowed an average of 209.3 yards rushing (6.3-yard average) and eight touchdowns.

I still think Hue is making a mistake by trotting Jano out there when he’s not 100 per cent. He’s no use to the team beyond about 35 yards, can’t kick off effectively and is most likely prolonging his recovery every time he goes out there.
The guy could be a major weapon in the playoffs. It makes no sense to me that he’s not being shut down to completely heal so that he’s ready if and when playoff time arrives.
Letting Rayner go was not smart.

Stuff from the Minn Star Tribune. The viks don’t seem too worried about Oakland.
On a conference call with Oakland reporters this week, Vikings coach Leslie Frazier delivered his latest endorsement of Adrian Peterson as the best running back in the NFL. Frazier continues to gush about Peterson’s well-rounded skill set, his ability to be both a finesse runner and a power runner.
“I mean there are times defenders really don’t want to tackle Adrian Peterson,” Frazier said. “They’ll hope someone else gets in the way before they get to him. He strikes fear in opposing defenders in the way he runs.”
This week, Peterson gets a chance to attack a Raiders defense that ranks 25th against the run. And if he hasn’t already proven, as Frazier asserts, that he’s the best back in the league, Peterson does have an outside chance Sunday of becoming the leading rusher in Vikings history.
He’s 191 yards away from breaking Robert Smith’s franchise record of 6,818 yards.
Of course, to threaten that mark, Peterson has to hope the Vikings can stay close with the Raiders. In last week’s lopsided loss in Green Bay, he had only four carries for 5 yards after halftime.
Walk DMC
Don’t expect Darren McFadden back in the Raiders backfield Sunday. The official word that McFadden won’t play might not come until Friday evening or possibly even as late as Sunday. But McFadden is still dealing with a sprained foot suffered Oct. 23. He just got out of his walking boot early this week and was again a bystander at Thursday’s practice.
Raiders receiver Jacoby Ford will also miss Sunday’s game because of his own foot injury.
Sapp’s role
Just what will the Vikings ask Sunday of cornerback Benny Sapp, signed Wednesday to join a decimated secondary? Defensive coordinator Fred Pagac envisions Sapp splitting time with Marcus Sherels at nickel back.
Pagac and Frazier will continue to evaluate Sapp’s conditioning and assess how he’s moving around.
“He has good retention of what we had been doing,” Pagac said.
Added Frazier: “He’s worked out well in these two practices we’ve had. He’s not in tip-top shape obviously, but he’s well-enough where we wouldn’t be afraid to put him in the game.”
Special skill
Cullen Loeffler, who has played 121 consecutive regular-season games for the Vikings, missed practice again Thursday. Loeffler suffered a rotator cuff injury in Monday’s loss at Green Bay. He expects to return to practice Friday and feels optimistic about playing this weekend.
If he can’t, the Vikings will need to find a replacement on the open market. At practice the past two days, Jared Allen has handled long-snapping duties in Loeffler’s place.
“[Allen] brags all the time about he’s the best in the league and the best in college when he came out,” Frazier said.
As for the possibility Allen would handle snapping duties Sunday if Loeffler remained hurt?
“Zero chance,” Frazier said. “Zero chance. … Not in a game, man. We want him rushing the quarterback.”
Injury update
Guard Anthony Herrera (knee), safety Husain Abdullah (concussion) and Sherels (death in the family) all missed Thursday’s practice. Linebacker Erin Henderson returned as a limited participant but is still dealing with tightness in his hamstring. Tight end Visanthe Shiancoe also tweaked his hamstring Thursday.
Wide receiver Michael Jenkins (knee) was a limited participant for the second consecutive day.
Etc.
• The Raiders are the most penalized team in the NFL, flagged an average of 10 times per game for 86 yards this season.
• The Vikings rank third in the NFL with 27 sacks so far. Allen has half of those. Oakland’s offensive line however has allowed only 11 sacks this season, second best in the league.
• Where has Toby Gerhart been with only 17 carries in nine games? Frazier’s straightforward response Thursday: “It’s tough when you’re Adrian Peterson’s backup.”
November 18th, 2011 at 1:58 pm
Originally I felt we paid too much for Palmer, although I realized that it was necessary. If the Raiders can keep him healthy, they are going to have a bona fide, top notch, A#1 QB. I am ecstatic!

I stand by my words, dead as a doorknob. Code Black means you step up, not fall on your face like a slapped on little bich, like we did with the broncs and chiefs.
It’s like you saying “we’re #1″. Even you know that’s ridiculous. Or like you saying you’ll kick someone’s ass. All talk. Just like CODE BLACK. Just means you can’t accept I’m right.

I think you might be right about this. Loadholt their RT did not look very good last game, and really has not looked very good all season. Lamar Houston has. Maybe the ever popular zone load blitz that Fritz Shurmur and the Packers executed for years to over load that right side with either a corner or a safety in addition to Houston could be the proper medicine to overdose Loadholt.

I dont care what you say about how he throws it, he’s a winner, he can throw it, he can run it and he can find a way to win …. if I’m a NFL owner or coach I’m drooling over his skill-set, I know I want this guy on my football team.”

Twocents, How about the FAA, should it be abolished?
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is the national aviation authority of the United States. An agency of the United States Department of Transportation, it has authority to regulate and oversee all aspects of civil aviation in the U.S. The Federal Aviation Act of 1958 created the organization under the name “Federal Aviation Agency”, and adopted its current name in 1966 when it became a part of the United States Department of Transportation.
The FAA’s major roles include:
Regulating U.S. commercial space transportation
Regulating air navigation facilities’ geometry and flight inspection standards
Encouraging and developing civil aeronautics, including new aviation technology
Issuing, suspending, or revoking pilot certificates
Regulating civil aviation to promote safety, especially through local offices called Flight Standards District Offices
Developing and operating a system of air traffic control and navigation for both civil and military aircraft
Researching and developing the National Airspace System and civil aeronautics
Developing and carrying out programs to control aircraft noise and other environmental effects of civil aviation

About the FDA –
It is well known that the FDA not only regulates the food, but also the drugs (medicines) that are available to you. And it is known that a lot of medicine companies have made considerable “contributions” to the FDA in the past, and still today. Big Pharma and the FDA are making money off of each other, and worst of all, at the expense of our health.
Of course the FDA is actually the government, and the dirty politicians involved.
The food industry has it’s hands in the cookie jar as well.
And it is also known that the FDA does hold off making available some drugs that would benefit some patients suffering from terminal conditions like cancer and the like.
Go youtube “fda corruption” and “fda exposed” for some more interesting details.
Not making this up.

On the other side, coming from a third world country, I do appreciate the regulations the FDA has when it comes to the food and restaurant business. I have seen some pretty nasty stuff where I am from due to lack of enforcement of laws.
Not to say there isn’t any nasty restaurants here in the US that should be shut down, but the difference is that those restaurants will eventually be shut down, and not allowed to operate and continue to make people sick without even a warning or fine.

Me too LA 2 Bay, corn syrup is good. High Fructose corsyrup is bad. They even put it in ketchup, and mustard now.
whats funny is I buy a brand of ketchup that specifically says no high fructose corn syrup…

Don’t doubt it. There is corruption. But private corporations regulating themselves is not the answer. Let’s keep money out of politics.

Well, I think the major issue here is America’s diet.
I’ve told people on here before, most people just need to get past a lot of these trademark social issues.
Our diet and our health go hand in hand.
With the corporate nature of food production and consumption being what it is, the idea is to get as much junk out there for as large a profit margin as possible.
It’s gonna be really bad for the younger genration of ‘test’ kids who have had all this sh’t plugged into their minds and bodies and the home-cooked meal from healthy, scratch ingredients is becoming less and less common.
And this will mean more people in need of healthcare, more people in need of drugs.
To other civilized nations, our diet/healthcare is a complete joke and it should seem that way to us as well.
And I’m as guilty as anyone when I do my Cali routine but outside of In N Out (which is actually run in a much more professional fashion then any other fast food joint I can think of — take care of their employees more too), I try to hit the local spots and mom and pop joints.
And we’re all guilty of fueling the corporate giant that is the NFL.

Agreed, but I see Kell’s point of ‘well the need is there, just make it run better.’
Well I think if we can wean off our consumption habits and the growing dependency on Rx drugs, the need for the FDA is reduced proportionally and therefore, it’s corruptability.
This is wishful thinking though, folks. I think it’s going to get worse before it gets better.
It would take a lot of people to wake up and fight and the fact is, most of America grumbles and mouths off here and there, but they’re just too complacent or too comfortable to get it together.

But many folks don’t want to hear this. In fact, you hear some pretty asinine rebuttals to organics by folks that are in denial and simply can’t bring themselves to paying the extra cost of organics.

That’s just the thing. The corporations have such a hold on politics that the two have almost become one, if not already.
Honestly, I don’t see how we can fix the problem unless we blow up the whole system and start anew. Which is what the “Occupy” movement was about at the beginning, before people put their interests ahead of the cause.
Money rules the world. There’s no way around that. Money is not the problem however, it is corruption and greed. The banks, food and drug industry, and about every other industry you can think of that needs the government to pass laws in order to make a cheaper product that they can charge more for has a politician in bed with them. The first few weeks were kind of shaky with fielding. He’s improved the last couple of weeks. Having that kind of speed, innate feel and outright just a guy who can make plays, not utilizing that, trying to exploit it 2 the fullest is a mistake from a gameplaning perspective. I understand what Hue’s trying to do and I’m all for it. The kid’s scrappy and tough. #17 returning punts till further notice, Nation.

Alright, back to football talk.
It is now more obvious than ever that the Raiders are holding their future in their hands. KC losing their QB and Denver losing Moreno, that leaves SD with a bit tougher schedule to contend. Denver is not all lost yet, but Tebow will fade out. I’m not hating on the guy, just saying that he will not be able pull his tricks with most of the remaining teams they have to play.
KC without Cassel is lost. More so than they were with him.
SD is the only team I see giving us any worries when it comes to winning the west. And I have been saying it all season, I think the last game vs them will one that will put one team in the playoffs and the other out. Of course the Raiders will be in.
But that can be avoided if we win, so here’s how I see us ending up:
11 11/20 @ Min W
12 11/27 vs. Chi L
13 12/4 @ Mia W
14 12/11 @ GB L
15 12/18 vs. Det L (possible W)
16 12/24 @ KC W
17 1/1 vs. SD W
So we could very well end up 9-7 or 10-6, which has been my original guess for this team all season. Notice we have 3 home games vs 4 aways left.
But if we can eek a win vs Chi and Det, we can end up 11-5. I don’t see us beating GB, and aside from the Chi game, all the other games are very winnable.
It is up to the Raiders to decide to strap on their boots and go kick some a$$.
As always, GO RAIDERS!!!

I was lured in to thinking that Sullivan was actually in real life a Raider fan but now we know the truth.
That’s fine. He has a right to root for anyone he wants but he finally revealed himself to be nothing but a big fake and a liar.
Good luck with your Niners and quit saying “we” when referring to Raiders. We’re dysfunctional as u say. Why would u want to be asociated with that?
You’re such a dik.

Sandusky44, are you even a Raider fan???…
————–
A fan? Well, considering where I live, there are two teams on my newscasts. Niners and Raiders. I love the Niners for their class, their effort, their teamwork, their coaching staff, and their owners.
I love the Raiders for the drama, the dysfunctional fan base, their deceased owner who was the joke of the NFL, and for their cool colors.

I’m saving this post for whenever this azzwipe decides to say “we” when referring to the Raiders or pretends to be a fan.
Just be the niner lover you claim to be. Be yourself and quit living your fake existence.
Thanks for finally owning up to your allegiance.

Sullivan, You wish “your” team had a real QB, don’t you? The Oakland Raiders have the best fans in the NFL, and the most passionate. We are going to go into Minnesota and kick some ass!

Detroit has no running game. We will definitely beat them. This game Sunday will tell it all. A win Sunday and I guarantee you we will go 10-6.

I really think we can beat the Bears and the Lions, but it starts with beating the worst team in that division the Vikings. If we can’t beat them, then Not only will we miss the playoffs, we will be watching Denver in the playoffs instead of us..a team that TRULY doesn’t deserve to be there with that 10th grade offense they are running over there in hickland USA.
No. This game is the season. We serve these guys a sh!t sandwich in thier own roller rink then I think we will have the confidence to take on Urlacher, Peppers, Briggs, Cutler and Hester in our House. It all boils down to this. If you want to be the best you gotta beat the best. It is time to shut up and put up.
This team is maddeningly inconsistent, if we ever get a chance to watch this team live up to it’s potential week in and week out, we will be a lucky fan base indeed. That is what is so awesome about Carson, he actually gives us Everything we need to live up to our potential. Keep this dudes knees clean and he will throw guys open all day long.
It’s this Jekyl and Hyde defense I am worried about. But that is a different post. I’m hitting the sack, been a really long day.
November 18th, 2011 at 9:45 pm
It just shows how nobody really has confidence yet in this Raider team.
Hub Arkush on PFWeekly said “We all (on the staff) picked Minn. to win, and then we looked at each other and said why are we picking Minn.? (laffs). It’s becuz the Raiders who can look like world beaters one week and then absolutely awful the next. I just think going on the road against Minn. that it may be another game where Oakland decides not to play”.
November 18th, 2011 at 9:50 pm
…also Hub Arkush added that he thinks Seymour maybe the best player on the team and that he (Seymour) for whatever reason just doesn’t show up for games. His thought that with Seymour injured, and the Raiders facing Peterson, it’s another reason he’s taking Minnesota.

Code Black
exists because things that Sully, myself, and other rational “haters” wanted, were finally put in place.
Zone D to help our run defense.
Paying for a legit QB instead of taking retreads and failures.
Allowing coaches to coach without interfering.
Getting rid of scholarship players.
We were right all along.

November 18th, 2011 at 9:57 pm
I’m part of the guilty party of those who aren’t too much of a Bresnahan fan. With that said, at times I’m not sure where to lay the blame. Is it the system not accentuating the strengths of our defensive players? The discrepancy between our yardage we yield in wins to losses is mind boggling. Are we running out of gas, tired, not focused etc?
Of course the injuries do not help but with what we’ve had, we’ve played great and atrocious. I thought with our offense sustaining drives, the defense would be ready to knock heads off. I hope we can keep up what we did against the chargers.
November 18th, 2011 at 10:01 pm
Alex 7,
Don’t lump yourself in with Sully. I’ve read some of your posts and I think you are at least being “honest” with your “hating” and that you are deep down an actual fan of the team.

6. What are some of the emotions or feelings that arise when you participate in this or any other sports chat site?
As many are aware I almost always type “Mr.” before each Raider player’s name as many of us have been very critical of a player’s play/production, but we should not attack/judge their character as a man, human, or American based on their performane as many of us have; so it is one way of giving each individual dignity & respect, whether it’s Mr. Jamarcus Russell or Mr. Marcus Allen.
7. What significance would you say this, or any other sports chat sites in which you are a participant, holds for you in relationship to your private, or public, or business life? Is this a positive or negative significance?
Not much although I discovered I have met a couple of people in Spokane, WA that have been on cct’s forum. When I’m busy with work, I’m not on this chat line for a long time, when I’m off and nothing to do or in a saving mode I can be on this site through insidebayarea.com multiple times a day.

# EMRaiders Says:
November 18th, 2011 at 8:20 pm
^^^^^^^^^
Beating the teams they are supposed to beat vs Minny and Miami are MUST wins!
Beating Detroit and especially KC the next time around is a MUST win also!
November 18th, 2011 at 10:27 pm

2. When I log on to participate in this forum I am hoping or anticipating that…

Three to Focus on: Raiders @ Vikings, Week 11
November 18th, 2011 | Author: Chris Benson
Despite losing their starting quarterback in Week 6 and then having to deal with injuries to key offensive players such as Darren McFadden (+5.8) and Jacoby Ford, the Raiders sit atop the AFC West with the Chiefs and Chargers fading fast. It wasn’t pretty at first, the home shutout against Kansas City and another home loss to Denver, but the Raiders got back on track in San Diego and took control of their own destiny. Michael Bush (+11.1) and Denarius Moore (+6.3) have thrived filling in for McFadden and Ford, and Carson Palmer is getting better every week. After two embarrassing home losses and a big win on the road, will the Raiders continue building momentum as they travel to the Metrodome, or will the Vikings be the next team to pump the brakes on the Raiders’ playoff aspirations?
Even if they aren’t able to achieve the latter, the Vikings need to be competitive in this one after an ugly blowout on Monday night at the hands of the undefeated Packers. At 2-7, they certainly aren’t going anywhere this season, but marginal players know they need to perform well to have a chance at having a big role in 2012.
Both of these teams field a quarterback who has been starting for less than a month and favor their effective running games. Both have the pieces to effectively stop the run, though the Raiders sometimes lapse in that department as was the case two weeks ago against the Broncos. If neither team is able to impose their will in the ground game, it’ll come down to who is able to make the throws when they have to, especially on third-and-intermediate distance downs. That doesn’t bode well for Minnesota.
Vikings offensive line vs. Raiders pass rush
Unless you’re the Denver Broncos, you’re going to have to throw the ball sometimes no matter how heavily your game plan favors the run. When Christian Ponder does drop back to pass, he’ll need to get the ball out quickly or risk taking some shots from a physical and talented Oakland defensive line. Minnesota’s offensive line hasn’t given Ponder – or Donavan McNabb before him – the greatest protection this season and anything less than their best efforts here could cause problems. The Vikings are especially weak in pass protection off the edge. Tackles Charlie Johnson and Phil Loadholt have allowed a combined 12 sacks and their cumulative pass protection grades (-8.7 and -14.9 respectively) leave much to be desired.
Kamerion Wimbley (+28.4) will look to take advantage of this when he rushes from the edge in the nickel. Second only to Von Miller in our 4-3 OLB rankings, Wimbley put on a dominant four-sack performance on Thursday Night Football in his last appearance and though he won’t be rushing against backups this time around, he’s more than capable of making disruptive plays against this pair of tackles. On the interior, long-time stars Richard Seymour (+15.1) and Steve Hutchinson (+10.2) will have the opportunity to try and beat each other. Even without taking Wimbley into consideration, all four starting Raiders defensive linemen grade out well in pass rushing, while only Hutchinson has graded in the green in pass protection for the Vikings.
Raiders offensive line vs. Vikings defensive line
In both the running and passing games, Minnesota’s defensive line has a distinct advantage over the Raiders’ offensive line. The most interesting battle in the trenches is between left tackle Jared Veldheer (+3.2) and DRE Jared Allen (+25.6), with rookie left guard Stefen Wisniewski providing help. Veldheer grades out as the Raiders’ best offensive lineman with Wisniewski being the only other starter with a positive grade, while Allen would be the best player on most defensive lines.
While the rest of the Raiders offensive line grades out poorly, Allen has plenty of help. DLE Brian Robison (+9.4) has cooled off considerably after a sizzling start, but showed he could be a pass-rushing menace over the first five games. Kevin Williams has been one of the best interior rushers in the league his entire career and plays the run effectively as well. Players like Erin Henderson (+15.7) have no trouble filling the gap and finishing plays. Bush isn’t really the type of runner to force a lot of missed tackles, so the Raiders’ rushing attack could be in trouble if his line can’t keep the Vikings out of the backfield.
Raiders wide receivers vs. Vikings secondary
As Palmer becomes more and more comfortable with his talented young receivers, the Raiders passing game should become more and more proficient. Will this be the week it breaks out? Against a Vikings secondary that has been one of the worst in the league this year, it’s certainly possible. The Vikings have lost their veteran leader in the defensive backfield, Antoine Winfield, not to mention their best-performing cornerback, so Cedric Griffin (-1.0) and especially Asher Allen (-12.4) need to play better than they have to keep the Vikings’ secondary from being victimized. Allen has allowed 26 of 36 balls thrown into his coverage to be completed this season and though he hasn’t allowed a catch of more than 26 yards, those small chunks of yardage add up quickly.
With Ford out, Moore and Darrius Heyward-Bey will shoulder the receiving load for the Raiders. The rookie Moore seems to be emerging as Palmer’s favorite receiver and should have some playmaking opportunities against a Vikings secondary that has only one active player, Griffin, with a positive grade in pass coverage, and he has been penalized eight times. Heyward-Bey wasn’t even targeted once against San Diego despite playing 59 snaps. He was beginning to emerge as a reliable target when Jason Campbell went down, but he hasn’t been on the same page with Palmer yet. With Ford out, it’s time for Heyward-Bey to get back on track or risk losing a role in the offense.

November 19th, 2011 at 7:13 am
What to think of the broncos being back in the race?
short term:
Maybe not bad, going into the vikings game. Remember how we played the week when the other afc teams lost before?
long term:
will the broncos be in the race till the end?
- depends on defense, that makes it low scoring games for now
- depends on more trickery: later in the season, when teams adjust to the tebow offense, i see fox adding orton to the mix, who can go deep(er) in some plays.
November 19th, 2011 at 7:56 am
Rising are you talking about Boise St. or Denver?
November 19th, 2011 at 8:04 am
Bey does not run good routes. That is why Palmer isn’t on the same page with him. He expects his WRs to be where they are supposed to be.
It’s been a problem haunting Bey since he became a Raider.
November 19th, 2011 at 8:14 am
The other problem with Carson getting better is the Raiders ability to score too fast. This gives the opportunity of our incosistant defense to take the field which makes me nervous.

No disrespect intended, but young man or woman, while you can, get yourself a real major, something that sociology is not not. You can, of course, do sociological studies down the road if that is your interest, as the social sciences can (but often don’t) offer much to society, but understand that those who are respected in the field are only those who have strong roots in the hard, not the soft, sciences.
Major in mathematics, applied or theoretical, or, if you’ve the smarts, in physics. It is these people who are the ones who’ve recently torn into the sloppy studies and research that the disrespected pop science of sociology has produced over the last 40 years.
Since the advent of the internet, a myriad of soft science practitioners have taken a beating and their field along with it; the only ones who haven’t are those with impeccable credentials in the hard sciences. It is they who have returned some semblance of respect to some aspects of social science, but there are very few who are respected, and all of them have the kind of intellectual background I urge you to get.
Try math. Dump sociology. Take a look around you at the “quality” of the minds in that field. What’s that tell you? You’re not doing yourself any favors if you stay put.

That is a fact. Do the research.
Everybody has different opinions about the gov and big corporations, but if you sit there and think there’s nothing going on behind closed doors, than you need to do your research.
And yes, back to football.

Politicians are puppets to corporations and the wealthy elite who run this country. We don’t have a democracy here. This is not a country run by the people. We have an Oligarchy. We haven’t seen a democracy here since the 1800s. Some of you have some reading to do.

Thank you Morilla, it is sad to me to think that there’s people out there who actually think that the government and their corporate buddies are out there to help out the people.
Sure, they will make a donation here and there or act like they care when a tough law needs to be passed, but they will make that money back in tax breaks and that law will end up benefitting some multi millionaire in the end.
Like I said earlier, money rules the world. But money is not the problem. It is the greed and corruption it spawns. Unfortunately I think the current status quo can no longer be salvaged. I hope I am wrong, but it is almost like we need to blow the whole thing up, and start over. And NO, the NWO is not the answer either.

Two steps to return to democracy.
1. Ban all television and radio advertising of political campaigns. Candidates will use web sites, social media, personal appearances and organized debates to be heard.
2. Limit campaign contributions to $200 per person or corporation.

Diff between JC and Tebow, one guy doesnt panic in clutch situations and one guy can’t handle it. Tebow is a lousy passer but dude can certainly lead his team in pressure moment. That is an attribute that ranks higher than arm strength imo.

No, “IMO” about it.
That is fact.
And I don’t think Tebow lacks much arm strength, it’s just his accuracy and mechanics that are abysmal.

Routt employs the ugliest CB technique in the league for a supposedly top tier DB. I can’t stand the guy. He is fast and has proven to be pretty good at keep up with the other WR. But I dont know why QB’s dont challenge him more often. He can’t play the ball, doesnt turn around and just play the WR’s face. Rivers just threw it up there and Routt couldnt do a darn thing about it.

Student R8R,
Can you read? Evidently not–unfortunately, it seems you prove my point.
I said that social scientists w/out a strong background (that excludes the actual MAJOR of sociology) are not respected…and they aren’t.
Those who do social science research which IS respected have strong backgrounds in the hard sciences. That is, they don’t major in sociology. They either major in sciences that demand rigorous application of logic or they have an abiding interest in and background in such *hard* sciences.
Typical of a basket weaving major like sociology is an assignment or research project that would look to posters on a football blog for data compilation.
Get a _real_ education by majoring in something that requires actual intellectual and scientific rigor. You can then apply that background to studies in social science, but you’ll be useless as a thinker if all you do to prepare yourself is to get a degree in the soft, light, pop-culture major of sociology. No scientist will take you seriously.

Now, the blog becomes a data search for a kid purportedly collecting info for a college class in sociology? (Tells you what you need to know about sociology, as I said.) And what kind of data would you trust comes from such blusterers as occupy this space in time?
Point made. I couldn’t agree more. Bring it back to football, once and for all, for everyone.

If Seymours questionable then just sit him…. Playing hurt will only hurt the team….we need to get healthy …a bye week with 1 game, then a 10 day break and were still not healthy?…
Crunch time is here…don’t mess with it… Sit Seymour unless he’s 100%…..

Huff should sit and get healthy for Cutler and the Bears. The Vikings aren’t a big passing threat but are a big rushing threat so play Mitchell at FS then replace w/ Giordano if we have a 2 score lead which is when they would start airing it out.

_______________
i don’t know if there was a back and forth but are you seriously bashing this guy for his major in college? And you’re a teacher, a person who’d supposed to motivate and cultivate young minds? Then you say we should stick to football when you go on about your conservative agenda or I’m a woman and my dad loved the Raiders blah blah blah… You’re a horrible person

I am *seriously* telling him to pursue a major that teaches rigorous thinking, one that prepares him to not only get a job that will allow him to support himself and his family, but a job that will lead him to help society and I can tell you a sociology major doesn’t prepare him for THAT.
Yep, it’s because I was a teacher that I am so familiar with the “business” of higher education: college admins and profs in certain fields insure high enrollment figures in their fields by offering puff courses in puff majors.
Ever wonder why we have so few American engineers and doctors? Why we have to import them from India or Pakistan?
Tell your kids to study hard the subjects that really benefit society, the ones that cure cancer, rid the third world of malaria, the ones that find new sources of food and water for impoverished peoples and people everywhere, the ones that build new bridges, the ones that explain human achievement with the truth, not with fiction.
I don’t care what you think of me. I know the field of education and I know its cons.
Back to football.

I like Rick Perry’s part-time congress idea. Not a fan of Perry himself, but I didn’t know that a handful of states do this already (like Texas).
Cut their salary and significance right in half.
======================================
While on the surface this may seem intriguing but any idea coming out of Texas should be scrutinized with a micron-scope. lst off a part time congress would benenfit the executive and judicial branches in a check and balance system. Since Perry would then appoint judicial nominees, a ton of power would then procede right to Perry or whoever the executive would be. Since Perry has the intelligence of a post and the compassion of P.T. Barnum, I would nix that idea right away. Imagine someone with the intelligence of Rick Perry with his finger on the button. Didn’t we learn this lesson from the last morons that came out of Texas?

What’s up gay boys? You may be asking yourselves why John Jarndyce is a Raider fan and not a fan of a team like the Vikings. All that purple does look nice, though. I’m just a bad boy at heart. I guess that’s why I like the Raiders so much. Did you all know there was a gay Raider bar? It was called the Velvet. Sadly it closed down. You guys would have fit right in with all your black leather.

How will the Raiders maintain their lead in stupid penalties at critical times if Seymour doesn’t play? Worst trade EVER!!!
