Hue doesn’t expect fine
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Monday, November 21st, 2011 at 3:02 pm in Oakland Raiders.
Raiders coach Hue Jackson said he has talked with NFL representatives about his issues with the officiating and is ready to move on.
Jackson said he spoke his mind and “feels very good” about the discussion, declining specifics on who he talked to or what was discussed.
He said he does not expect to be fined for being critical of the league’s officiating.
In other quick hits:
– Wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey is doing well, wearing a neck brace _ Jackson called it a “sympathy” brace _ and wouldn’t even rule out having the receiver face the Chicago Bears Sunday. He said he also wouldn’t be surprised if Heyward-Bey didn’t play.
– Center Samson Satele has begun concussion protocol, Jackson said, and he thinks he will be cleared to play pretty quickly.
– Michael Bush has carried 30 times in each of the last two games, and with Taiwan Jones hobbled with a hamstring pull and Darren McFadden still in doubt, could be in line for 30 more.
“That’d be 90 in three games _ that’s pretty good,” Jackson said.
The coach said he thought Bush was not showing signs of strain under the work load. Bush has 599 yards rushing, just 15 yards behind McFadden for the team lead.
– Jackson said McFadden is not being hidden nor does he have an injury worse than has been reported (mid-foot sprain). He said he simply doesn’t want to put McFadden on the field unless he’s 100 percent.
– Raiders players as well as Jackson figure the Bears will be formdiable opposition without quarterback Jay Cutler (broken thumb), noting that backup Caleb Hanie acquitted himself well in last season’s NFC championship game agianst Green Bay when Cutler left due to injury.

Saying you don’t understand what constitutes a legal hit anymore is way different than saying the ref’s blew calls. Hue didn’t say the ref’s sukked, even if he meant it that way.

Yeah I really really like Chaz Schilens, even tho he scultpures his eyebrows and prob hangs out in SF with jeff garcia, he is a good WR when healthy and put in postion to make plays, he makes them.
6′4 225, fast and huge vertical.
can’t ignore his great hands too.
because of his injury history we will never have to pay him more than minimum.
He is a great blocker too.
I always like to see him used in the red zone. Murphy has quickly become a special teamer and rotational WR.

~~~“The thing about it football is a game full of personal fouls,’’ Curry said. “They’re all personal. It all depends on whether a referee decides to throw his flag or not. Every hit we make, they’re all borderline.
No, they’re not all borderline. Someone show these fools tape of what is legal and what isn’t because it sounds like we’re in for 10 & 100 every game from here on out.
~~~“You can call a personal foul on every play, you can call a holding on every play, you can call a facemask on every play. It just depends on what the guys feel like calling.’’
No they can’t(well holding maybe), unless they are making it up. Is this guy for real? Is this him trying to defend his 3 personal fouls in 4 games? I like his play but he sounds like a goof.
November 21st, 2011 at 3:33 pm
Curry is saying that the refs are interpreting what happens differently.
With all these new rules and all the refs have the finger on the trigger-flag the whole game.
Since Goodell apparently wants them to be doctors (notice concussion symptoms) lawyers (bring attention to hits so they can fine players) and refs all at once.

Say what you will about Giordano, as all comments about him are valid, both pro and con. However, that was a sharp, direct up field return, and he finished it by slamming the two defenders and maximizing his return yardage. Job well done.
Also, love that leaping catch by Brandon Myers. Oh, ya, he’s our best tightend blocker.

They are bordering on done as a team.

there’s not enough time for an official to see a play, think there is NO penalty, then go “oh wait, it’s the Raiders”, and then throw a flag.
Brain just doesn’t work fast enough for that nonsense to occur in the middle of a tough job.
The officials were just terrible Sunday, for both teams.
That “holding” call on Minnesota when a receiver pancaked our DB took away a TD at the time.

Giordano has made plays to win games. That’s what matters, in our losses, it has never been from Giordano, in our losses its been a lot of factors, people and diff elements.
Giordano is a nice veteran, with plenty of skills left .. locker room guy … he is a secondary coach out there, I’m sure Rod Woodson would tell you great things about Giordano.
November 21st, 2011 at 3:51 pm
Steelers have complained for years about officiating. Ravens did too earlier this season.
Jets’ Plaxico had obvious PI (drilled in the back a full second before a hail mary landed) ignored at end of game.
Crew couldn’t keep track of downs or time outs.
It was just awful, not so much biased.

RoMcClain?? McClain’s presence in the middle is HUGE. He doesn’t need to make as many tackles as some are demanding…he needs to be accounted-for on as many plays as possible. For the most part, McClain’s done a good job in that regard.
Would I like McClain to be a little more aggressive? Yes, but…not at the expense of being in the right place most of the time. If some of his detractors would look a little closer, they’d see the plays he makes. Other QB’s see what he can do…he occupies an immense amount of space, and moves in that space very well. McClain’s doing just fine for a 2nd-year pro…just short of Pro Bowl level.
=======================================
I do not agree with one word of this and frankly He is not playing at NEAR a pro bowl level. And all you need to see is the AP touchdown yesterday. lst down from 12 yards out and no one lays on hand on him because McLame is getting pushed back into his own guys. The Raiders are once again at the bottom of the league in run defense. The defensive line has played well, the safeties have played well. Uh, what does that leave?

Oh I know, You guys knew all about the Tuck rule long before that play Because it gets called all the time. Right..Never called before, never called again.

Another supposed fan, who doesn’t follow the NFL.
Raiderhaterhater,
The tuck rule also was enforced in the NFL playoff game on January 9, 2011 between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens.
The tuck rule was also enforced on October 2nd, 2011 during a game between the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals. When the Bengals Andy Dalton was tackled by two Bills defenders and the ball was returned for a touchdown by the Bills Bryan Scott. After reviewing the play, the officials ruled that Andy Dalton was tucking the ball, reversing the touchdown and giving the Bengals control of the ball.
The tuck rule was also enforced on October 30, 2011 during a game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Cincinnati Bengals. Andy Dalton started into his throwing motion but decided not to throw the pass. The ball came out of his hand and traveled backwards striking the umpire. Dalton fell on the ball at the one yard line but it was later ruled an incomplete pass.
Now apologize for being so stupid.

So, since 2001 we can account for that penalty 4 times. Personally, I think I remember it being called once. Multiply all teams times 16 games times 12 years and out of almost 400,000 different plays, it has been called 4 times? Sounds about right.

———————-
Thats crap when he suffered injury and wasnt playing defense looked real bad. Anyone with any knowledge of this game can see that. Mlb do not have more tackles then safteys in this passing league. Common people if ya dont like someone on this team fine. But dont hate with comments that have no merit.

there’s not enough time for an official to see a play, think there is NO penalty, then go “oh wait, it’s the Raiders”, and then throw a flag.
…………
Actually, that’s just about what happened on the p.i. non-call against New England. Blatant p.i.. Ref throws the flag. Suddenly another ref comes jogging up, they have a meeting, ref that threw the flag picks his flag up and they announce there’s no penalty on the play. Even the announcers were appalled. Well beyond 5 yards, NE defender just about tackles our guy. You don’t have to be a conspiracy nut anymore to think major sports in America are rigged to the tilt. It’s plain as day.

Jano at 50% is better than 75% of NFL kickers. As long as he’s not having to run down returners, Jano’s injury shouldn’t get any worse…he’ll take care of it.
DMcFadden on the other hand?? DMC at 50% is not better than even 50% of NFL starters. And with the explosiveness and agility required of RB’s, his risk of re-injury is significantly higher than Jano’s.
Jano can take us places with 45-yard FG’s. DMC takes us nowhere on an injured wheel…and why risk aggravating his injury to the point of losing him for the year? Keep DMC on the shelf until he’s 95-100%.

Overall, I’d have to say Romac has been a disappointment.
Can’t tell you how pissed off I was watching him JOG after Fred Jackson in the Buffalo game. I can accept a player not measuring up to his lofty draft status. Mistakes are made, busts happen. What I can’t accept is anything less than maximum hustle. That’s intolerable. Saw it in Buffalo that day, haven’t seen it since.
What’s maddening about Romac to me, is that he appears to read and diagnose plays pretty well, and although he certainly isn’t fleet of foot – he’s pretty adept at coverage due to his length and his ability to anticipate. Makes me wonder why he has such a seemingly negligible impact on run defense. If you can diagnose screens and swings, you should be able to read runs. He’s got the size and strength to be a formidable run defender. It just hasn’t happened. Hope he picks up his game.

Not sure I agree. I would sign someone else to kick with the hopes Jano gets back to 100% by week 17 and the playoffs. Then he can be a true weapon kicking balls from 50 plus. Any Kicker on the waiver wire can hit a 45 yarder with reasonable regularity imo. Get Jano healthy!

McClain needs to hire the training team that worked with Dmac. He is just way to slow and format have the explosive quickness that is needed for a MLB. Also, he needs to cut weight and trim up. Lean mass. If you ever see him in person, you’ll notice that he looks kind of soft. And his lower half is disporpotiantely much larger than his upper body. It’s werid looking. His lower body is massive.

It is true that those calls in the Viking game were B.S…but I hope the team doesn’t think the bulk of the penalties are not legit….the false starts, the encroachments and lining up in the neutral zone….hands to the face and that holding (BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL) are frustratingly real.
If the Raiders could cut the penalties in half…they probably give up 3 to 7 points less per game.

November 21st, 2011 at 5:17 pm
SnB ODS,
Here’s the thing.
Hue’s been around this league. He’s not stupid. Encroachment, offsides, hands to the face…holding… other teams he’s been with never get these calls like the Raiders do. A lot of these penalties happen on every single play…but the refs let it go most of the time. But when they’re doing a Raider game? They call everything. Sure, the right way to approach it is to make sure you commit no penalties. But it’s a physical game and every play someone is going to commit a borderline penalty, it’s inevitable. And the refs are going to ding the Raiders just about every time when with most teams they only call the serious ones. And, of course, we the darling franchises they hardly call anything.

November 21st, 2011 at 5:18 pm
Is there a troll trying to get my attention? Oh, yes there is…
The only thing that limited Al Davis’s search for a new home was Al Davis. And recently the economy, of course. There were plenty of suitors…and at least one community willing to pay the Raiders just for the time spent exploring their options.
Had Al not wanted to stay entrenched in California, he would’ve faced many more suitors still. Contrary to KK’s and MR’s cries otherwise…they owe homage to Al Davis for staying loyal to the area in the first place.
There isn’t a responsible metropolitan official, or public-private entity, that would ignore the potential of adding a multi-million $$ generating business, such as an NFL team, to their area’s economic base. Al or no Al.
There are ways to do these things, and relatively soon it wouldn’t be surprising to hear of a stadium proposal for the Raiders to ponder…just hope it’s in NorCal.

Hayes, that was 20 years ago when cities were lobbying Al to bring the team there with the proposal of stadium funding. And in recent years, cities have avoided Al because of the way he left those cities hanging. The Raiders hadn’t had a 7 year drought yet in 1989. Nobody knew they would eventually suck as bad as they did. So don’t act like cities were lining up to get Al in the past Gruden era, because they weren’t. LA wanted nothing to do with Al Davis. Oakland wanted nothing to do with Al Davis. Nobody wanted anything to do with Al by 2011, when he passed on.

According to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune, it would require a “miracle turnaround” for Norv Turner to stay on as the Chargers’ head coach in 2012.
“It will take a miracle turnaround for Norv Turner to be the coach beyond this year,” said Acee on NFL Network’s Around the League segment on Monday. The Chargers have dropped five straight games and are in last place in the AFC West. ESPN’s Jerry Rice also blamed Turner for the Chargers’ 2011 collapse on SportsCenter Monday. “Norv Turner is one of those coaches that just can’t you over the hump,” Rice said. “I played under this guy.” The Chargers appear headed for their second straight playoffs-less season.

I hate to be a conspiracy theorist but as Jerry Mac is fond of saying what is the common denominator. Since 2002 we’ve gone through numerous coaches all driving home penalties. The only common denominator I see is it’s the Raiders. Maybe it’s not so sinister as a conspiracy but a refs predisposition to call the Raiders closer than other teams. I think it’s good Hue said something fines be damned. Hell it worked for the Zen master Phill Jackson in the NBA.

^^^^^^^
Overall I think he has been average and fine, especially since he is in the middle of a 4-3 base scheme most of the time and asked to play all 3-4 downs and cover! He is not been perfect, but Chuck B is not utilizing him as well as he could be because of the base 4-3 the Raiders run 90% of the damn time.
If RoMac was playing more in a base 3-4, he would be playing above average IMO.

Isn’t he great, the referees should always call flags any time someone gets near his ugg boots…he practiced and practiced really hard to learn how to tuck the ball. YOU’VE CHANGED YOUR HANDLE OVER TWO DOZEN TIMES..you sorry mouse of a man…that’s because you end up as roadkill, under each and every name.
HELL..JUST LAST WEEK YOU ALREADY STATED “I don’t even know if I’m going to post anymore”..to that effect…THE EXACT SAME THING YOU DID AS OAKGLEN.
I’m just one of many who enjoys slapping you around, little boy.

You are so full of BS, TJ.

that you don’t work for the Raiders.
That you just know someone who works for the organization, likely in janitorial.
So why make that silly comment?

Rico and B are different people. They use to go at it real hard and rico was pretty sharp about lots of things.
Also Rico said he called KK office and yelled. Then other people did it when rico posted the well known website. KK freaked out and went to someones house who he swears is rico and rico said it was not
But KK got banned and rico did not

I’d like to see the Raiders get bigger and faster at Running Back. Like a Michael Bush, if as advertised. I probably wouldn’t make a big deal out of Fargas or Rhodes
November 21st, 2011 at 7:45 pm
“rico was pretty sharp about lots of things”.
Oh yeah i rememeber trying to argue with Ricochet and he was able to twist everything around an i ended up feeling stupid. Thus annoying me !!
I try to stick strictly to RIADERS now !! except when asking where Ricochet went !!
November 21st, 2011 at 7:45 pm
Charged Up was here before 2008. I remember. We didn’t have to log in back then. He was always calling us myopians.

3-4 years ago, KK wasn’t as far over the edge. Internet tough guys brought out the worst, and best, of KK, though. What he did to Richo is classic.

time to turn some heads down the stretch. When mcfadden is back and Ford, Palmer will be 100% fine. He already calls a no huddle and audibles. Campbells head would explode if asked to do either lol.
I want another shot at patriots in playoffs.

November 21st, 2011 at 7:57 pm
LoL mamba …. so true campbell would start the cadience and then just call timeout …. i also noticed campbells audibles almost always resulted in lossed yardage lol.
not exactly the point of the no huddle or audibles
November 21st, 2011 at 7:58 pm
I think Hue needs to go balls out on his pissed offedness against the refs. Call their BS, make some noise. The more he complains, the more he makes the league look like a bunch of conspirators. The league will want to save face and call off the dogs.
Keep it up Hue, do not let up. Call them for what they are, full of BS.
The squeaky wheel gets the grease.
CODE BLACK!

- Raiders in the driver’s seat
- Tebow giving false hope to millions of people waiting for the second coming
- Chargers and Chiefs working on 2012 draft picks

YES exactly!! Get the D on the back foot, and then lose yards with a nothing call…. counter productive realy.
