No Thanksgiving surprises
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Thursday, November 24th, 2011 at 10:24 am in Oakland Raiders.
No sign of Darren McFadden or Jacoby Ford as the Raiders completed the early portion of practice Thursday and began the team session.
Wide receivers Darrius Heyward-Bey and Denarius Moore were present, but neither was moving around much other than tossing a football with wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal.
Defensive tackle Richard Seymour wasn’t at practice, and could end up in the same role as he did against Minnesota _ as a defensive tackle in pass rush situations. Defensive end Lamarr Houston was suited up and on the field.
Wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh, who was absent Wednesday on maternity leave, was back on the field.
Running back Taiwan Jones was slowly making his way to the field, not suited up, making him an unlikely participant against Chicago.
Brian McCann was fielding kickoffs. Also fielding a few was Tyvon Branch, who held that role for a time as a rookie. Branch then gave way to Rock Cartwright.
A few post-practice notes later . . .

I bet Moore and DHB don’t want to give Murphy and Chaz a lot of snaps.

Now that we have another QB besides Kyle Boller, Hue has to really think about not getting into a situation where he would have to play Boller,(in fact boller should not even be in the NFL). So with that said– instead of even thinking of using Pryor as a WR with all of the injuries we have there,it would be better that he be planning on preparing Pryor to play QB in the event that Palmer would go down. This is the NFL (not for long) and QB’s are 1 big hit from serious injury. Look at the success that Tebow is having in Denver…you cant tell me that Pryor is not better than Tebow, we cant turn to boller if palmer goes down.
We already know what boller can and cant do, but we dont know what Pryor can do as Carsons primary backup, we would have nothing to lose, but Boller cant go back out there.

Nnamdi carted off eagles practice field today
November 24th, 2011 at 11:11 am
I dont see why we cant hue use ausberry as a WR since he was one in college and he is a big body. Im thinking that since we are short on WR why not make ausberry it for a week
November 24th, 2011 at 11:14 am
I agree and I think it is why we heard how Pryor was shadowing Palmer in his daily preperation and game planning! Not seen with Sanjay Lal LMAO! It’s also why we have Campbell preping to assume the role of #2 as he prepares to return in the near future! If Boller was seviceable in this Offence Campbell would be expendable, but him still being here means it’s Boller who is expendable!with a 2 and 12 record as a Starter! LMAO! Without connection to hue what is he doing here? Maybe due to Grads and the Cable experiment?
November 24th, 2011 at 11:17 am
P.S. Congrats Hous!
November 24th, 2011 at 11:22 am

Plunk,
It was a Super Bowl party event, and I was with about 6 or 7 other guys at a table asking him questions and interacting with him.
He said basically that he feels there are plenty of other Raiders who belong more than him, specifically Flores, and than kind of joked that it is hard to make the HOF when you were never even one of the best players on your own team.
November 24th, 2011 at 11:35 am
Wow….Suh is an idiot.
He might get suspended for a game. He has used up his get out of jail free cards already.
November 24th, 2011 at 11:36 am
I asked Plunkett about Jamarcus and the new coaching regime, this was 2009.
Plunkett talked up Hackett as the best in the business.
November 24th, 2011 at 11:38 am
Man we just cant get a any continuity going with our lineup.. If we can get through bears game unscathed, gets some troops back … Facing dolphins right as they peaking for the year, i had previously thought that game a lock for the W bu that could be a grind too.. Dmac where for ought thou?..
November 24th, 2011 at 11:39 am
They should use suh as a short yardage back..
November 24th, 2011 at 11:42 am
The Raiders are having a great thanksgiving
Detroit’s SUH has been thrown out of the game today and most likely will be susupended. He jammed a player’s helmet in the ground several times while twisting his neck, and them stomped on the guy’s arm with his cleat….
Scratch SUH.
November 24th, 2011 at 11:42 am
I feel really sorry for Green Bay. Looks like someone big is due to go down soon.
November 24th, 2011 at 11:44 am
We play lions or dolphins first?????
November 24th, 2011 at 11:44 am

November 24th, 2011 at 11:56 am
Watching two teams that we will face in the next few weeks.Do I dare say that if we our weapons healthy,we can beat the Pack? Well I am saying it! And I hope they are still undefeated when we face them.
We also get to scout next weeks’opponent in an hour…
November 24th, 2011 at 11:57 am
#31…
The only Woodson that’s a Raider as far as I’m concerned is Rod.
November 24th, 2011 at 11:57 am

November 24th, 2011 at 11:57 am
I think we match up better against the Packers than most teams.
Going into Lambeau though, in early December will be a shock for some of these young guys.
Probably be the coldest game they may have ever played in.
November 24th, 2011 at 11:58 am
We need the RAVENS to lose tonite! These guys must not get that #1 seed-their 12th man is one of the best in the league
November 24th, 2011 at 11:58 am
32…I believe a healthy Raider team could ( can) play with anybody….we still don’t know how good our team can be…
November 24th, 2011 at 12:00 pm

Yeah, all the old timers talk that guy up. You should hear Gannon and Garcia gush about him. But I think he was the wrong fit at that time. A continuation of the mad scramble that came as a result of firing Kiffin, who has turned out to be a damn good coach. Had a good thing going in 2008 and ruined it with this regime change.
November 24th, 2011 at 12:02 pm
Everyone was expecting a tight game this morning in Detroit.Hell, they laying an egg to look like the Lions of old.
November 24th, 2011 at 12:02 pm
I’m hoping for a snow storm in Greenbay when we play there….with a Healthy McFadden and Bush, I’d like our chances better….
November 24th, 2011 at 12:03 pm
This might be the only time I’ve ever said or will ever say these words-GO RAVENS.

Losing Smith early hurt them. Also CB Houston is a big loss, Suh gave GB a TD and then some.
Ohhhh, TD Lions…

Maternity leave?
Don’t you mean paternity leave, Jerry?
I hope TJ kicks your @ss for that one.
November 24th, 2011 at 12:17 pm
Seymour’s role with the team should be relegated to strictly 3rd down and obvious passing situations.
It’s the only way he’ll make it through the season.
November 24th, 2011 at 12:26 pm
Reese is good option to play receiver as well especially since we have Tonga playing above average at FB.
November 24th, 2011 at 12:28 pm
Lol…Greenbay isn’t gonna run out the clock are they… Rodgers is still throwing …..

November 24th, 2011 at 12:58 pm
Carl weathers…I’ll second that…the one and only: “Rod Woodson!!!”

Ndamukong Suh is going to kill that guy…if he doesnt Cliff Avril, or Nick Farley will. That team has just scratched the surface, but Stafford has GOT to stop throwing picks.
November 24th, 2011 at 10:17 pm
bill cower seems to think suh plays like he does because of the lions front office ,meaning its acceptable to the big dog ,and they condone it because they havent done anything about yet ,i wonder how long that will last.should the franchise be fined as well as suh if so look for the sh@t to roll up hill for once
