Final: Raiders 25, Bears 20

Sebastian Janikowski kicked a franchise-record six field goals and Michael Bush scored on a late 3-yard run as the Raiders remained in first place in the AFC West with a hard-earned 25-20 win over the Chicago Bears Sunday at O.co Coliseum.

Janikowski connected from distances of 40, 47, 42, 19, 37 and 44 yards without a miss, breaking the previous club record of five field goals he shared with Jeff Jaeger.

The Raiders improved to 7-4 to remain atop the division while Chicago slipped to 7-4, its hopes of making the playoffs almost certainly reduced to being a wild card because of the presence of the unbeaten Green Bay Packers in the NFC North.

Chicago scored on a 29-yard pass from quarterback Caleb Hanie to Johnny Knox and on field goals of 50 and 53 yards by Robbie Gould and with 2:11 left on a 9-yard pass from Hanie to tight end Kellen Davis with 2:11 left.

The play was set up by an 81-yard rainbow from Hanie to Knox, who pulled the ball in with one arm despite tight defense by free safety Matt Giordano.

Raiders’ rookie David Ausberry recovered the ensuing onsides kick after Giordano had the ball knocked loose by Charles Tillman.

With the score 18-13, Oakland finally broke through on Bush’s 3-yard run with 3:47 left, a play that was set up by a perfectly thrown 48-yard strike from quarterback Carson Palmer to wide receiver Louis Murphy against a trailing Tim Jennings.

Bush crashed through on the next play to give the Raiders a 12-point lead, much to the delight of a sold out crowd delighted to see Oakland improve to 3-3 at home.

It capped a 74-yard drive during which the Raiders had a third-and-1 first down wiped out on a holding penalty by Samson Satele, only to have Palmer come back and hit Chaz Schilens for 14 yards and the first down on the following play.

The last time Chicago got the ball back was at the 4-yard line after a 51-yard punt from Shane Lechler, who earlier had a team-record 80-yard punt and also pinned the Bears back at the 3 on another possession.

Hey, thanks to you all that advised me on the little bas%$ards egging my house. we put up floodlights and fake signs that the house was under video surveillance. spent 3 hours in fry’s yesterday looking at systems, but problem is that none are really capable of I.D.ing someone or license plate from distance we want. Husband and i spent last two nights “in waiting” outside. Nothing. Hopefully it’s over.

Imagine the Broncos / Chiefs ratings down the road. Orton vs Tebow.

Imagine a Raiders / Bengals playoff game and those ratings.

So what’s the point? Why does it seem like 90 % of your posts are attempts to discredit the Raiders?

I have more respect for a “Charged Up” than guys who lie about their allegiances and won’t man up as to what their real agenda is.

yeah Tooz, glad we got Palmer. There’d be about 4 teams asking for him now.

They were talking this week about Palmer on ESPN and the guy said “You gotta figure the Raiders got lucky that their starter was the first one to go down this year cuz it was gonna be a matter of whichever team’s QB went down next, that team would have gone after him”.

File that in the “for what it’s worth” category i guess.

We got Palmer at the trading deadline….. the only way another team would have gotten him after that is if the Bengals cut him. ESPN is so stupid

No, the Vikes and the Care Bears got a break with no Darren Mcfadden, and then tonight with no Jacoby Ford or D Moore.

    That is also very true.

Ha. Good point. Sometimes you just take for granted that since these guys get paid a million dollars a year to do their job of analyzing sports that they know what they’re talking about.

They don’t know anything more than most of us here do.

  • ghostraiders

this game should’ve been over a long time ago… chefs are done as are the chargers after tonight..

  • Raiders for life

Raiders have had no McFadden, Ford and today Moore. Can you imagine what this team can do if they were completely healthy?

    ###################

Plus…..IR’d Shonasty, Ricky Brown, Chimdi. Then questionable or out T. Jones, Soup. Then as an added bonus half the Raiders starters are nicked.

  • silverback

Some here said Chaz and Murphy weren’t up to the challenge. They were good enough to make some plays and Murphy sealed the deal. Glad to see Murphy contribute.

    lol nice find

Been listening to the Bears postgame out here. They don’t even mention that we had:

-The best player on our team OUT.
    …and
-The fact we started our 3rd string receivers.

All they talk about is Hanie. Well big whoop.

They can talk about how it would’ve been different if Cutler had played. WE can talk about how it would have been if we would’ve had (arguably) the best RB in the league in the game and our starting wideouts. Or how our lack of scoring td’s in the redzone today was more on us than on their spectacular defense.

All that being said, we still end up posting 25 pts. on ‘em. Let’s talk about that.

  • BewareofRaiders

Can you imagine the season if we didnt get palmer and stuck with boller…..ouch

  • mcfadden20.

can we get a pick 6 ? since Steelers O is doing their best Raiders impersonation against Bears

  • hwnrdr

F Bear fans…well, they were out in full FN Force today…6 FGs and a TD did enough today…I hope that doesn’t happen again, but…a win is a win, and against a very good Bears D…GO RAIDERS!!!

  • silverback

Hard to say if Dmac would have got going the way the o-line was getting handled in the run game. But I believe he would given the Bears more to account for and could open things up.

  • ElkGRaider

A win is a win gentlemen. Get healthy…on to south beach…

Maybe I missed it, but did we actually come away from this one without any new injuries?

Sdlly is still in mourning over the niner loss on Thursday. Ruined his whole holiday, and then to cap off his weekend the Raiders win?

He is in total misery right now.

  • Gerard

If u look it up you’ll see that even in the Raider “glory years” of the 70′s and 80′s you see alot of close final scores.

Even the 13-1 year (Super Bowl) there were a few real close ones; against some bad (at the time) clubs. 14-13 or 21-20 or 17-13.

The thing is, at the end of the day… they WON.

Raiders (even with Cutler’s absence taken into consideration) were a 4 pt. fav. going in to the game.

    They even covered the spread.

This one will look and feel better in the morning.

  • eastoaklandraider

I think the game plan will be simalar in MIA we just need a few more tds instead
Of FGs and we should handle MIA easy. Not scared of Matt Moore. Maybe DHB can get a few pointers from brandon marshall
