McClain at scene of Decatur incident

Raiders middle linebacker Rolando McClain was at the scene of a fight Wednesday where gun shots were fired in his hometown of Decatur, Ala., the Huntsville Times reported.

McClain was not at practice Wednesday and was on the injury report as “did not participate’’ because of an injured ankle. It’s not clear why he was in Alabama and not with the team.

As the Raiders went through warm-ups and drills before practice Thursday, McClain was not on the field with the team.

“We are aware of the incident. At this time we have no further comment,’’ a Raiders spokesman said.

According to Lt. John Crouch, police received a report of gun shots at 10:20 p.m. and reported to find one person injured in a fight. The victim refused treatment.

McClain, according to Crouch, was present when the fight happened and the incident is under investigation.

Last Jan. 28, a Chevrolet Tahoe McClain was driving was shot at in Decatur. Police found a slug near the rear hatch of the vehicle.

Raiders coach Hue Jackson meets the media following Thursday’s practice.

Sounds as if Hue is being too easy on guys not wanting to practice. As a first year Head Coach, maybe Hue is trying to be their buddy and their coach at the same time.

I would say the same thing…but hey…we are 7-4 and leading the division. Must be doing something right…

Come on man..what in the hell are you doing in Alabama? Guess Florida aint that far away, probably was going to hook up with the team at the Hotel on Saturday, but geeze..guess he got excused from the Walkthrough on Friday..weird..
Perhaps this will be a reminder to him about how much he has to lose…

I don’t know if taking plays off is the right term but he makes a great play on the ball on one play then gets absolutely negated on another and doesn’t seem interested in fighting off the block. He’s tough to read.

  • No Lo

Fine his big ass, big time. The previous posts were correct. The Raiders are in the middle of a playoff run and don’t need this type of distraction. Now, the police are involved(from another state, mind you) and they can create a big a mess. He needs a Raider initiation: a good ass whuppin from Seymour, Tommy K, and Big John. If he feels the need to get into a fight pick on somebody your own size. Like the 3 aforementioned Raiders. Please Hue. Kick this dude’s ass.th

  • morilla

Totally unacceptable. Hue has just as much of the blame as the dude who can’t stop hanging around hood rats.

Don’t need Rolondo going all Barrett Robbins on us….. Not now… We have unfinished business ..

Come on ya’ll…neighborhoods ain’t got nothing to do with it….yea, a high risk area is more likely to have ish pop…but if you’re wildin’ out, it can take place anywhere

Should he be suspended for Sundays game?

    Thoughts?
    ++++++++++++

Hell no. Im sure he has a perfectly good excuse for being there, ain’t his fault some idiots got crazy. I wouldn’t personally have been there, but who knows what sort of situation he had worked out with Hue..Do I think he should have been back in Oaktown? Yep. But suspended for the game? Hell no.

  • MikieG

I really don’t see the big deal here fellas..
    Fines, Suspensions, Distractions???

Dude didn’t even get arrested, probably got asked a few questions and Dee Dee Maoed the hell out of there.

I think you guys might be overreacting a bit.

  • ElkGRaider

Shouldnt that ankle be in a boot or in bubble wrap? How is he walking around with his boys??

  • RaiderDave

Go to Alabama for a specialist? Maybe if I were looking for a klansman or hick! Isn’t it a shorter trip, when you’re in Cali, for a top of the line doctor? Only excuse to leave Cali is to see a specialist from NY. C’mon McClain, don’t pull a Michael Vick and hang out with punk friends who will just bring you down like crabs in a bucket!

  • raiderinparadise

    overeacting?

for the record i never backed mcclain and always questioned his attitude/dedication.

his mind is elsewhere. he doesn’t care about a playoff run, then he should be penalized by the team. one way to start a bad distraction in the crucial point of the best season in years.

    bench him Hue.

I know blackstock is bad, but whatever, McClain thinks he is above everyone.

He is better at Modern Warefare on x-box than MLB anyways.

We shouldn’t be all that shocked at an athletes actions…They are overpaid and glorified by US….To think that he would be rehabbing or film studying be would be naive….Too few guys on this team dedicated to football like Curry…..I guess we like our entertainment……
