Raiders middle linebacker Rolando McClain was at the scene of a fight Wednesday where gun shots were fired in his hometown of Decatur, Ala., the Huntsville Times reported.
McClain was not at practice Wednesday and was on the injury report as “did not participate’’ because of an injured ankle. It’s not clear why he was in Alabama and not with the team.
As the Raiders went through warm-ups and drills before practice Thursday, McClain was not on the field with the team.
“We are aware of the incident. At this time we have no further comment,’’ a Raiders spokesman said.
According to Lt. John Crouch, police received a report of gun shots at 10:20 p.m. and reported to find one person injured in a fight. The victim refused treatment.
McClain, according to Crouch, was present when the fight happened and the incident is under investigation.
Last Jan. 28, a Chevrolet Tahoe McClain was driving was shot at in Decatur. Police found a slug near the rear hatch of the vehicle.
