McClain speaks, Ford and Moore running around

Wide receivers Jacoby Ford and Denarius Moore worked out with a team trainer Monday morning, once again seeing if they are far enough along in their rehab from foot injuries to return to practice this week and, perhaps, play against the Detroit Lions.
Ford ran with a nice burst, though he wasn’t seen making any sharp cuts or planting on his injured foot. He said afterward that his foot is getting better but he still isn’t sure if he is going to be able to practice with his teammates this week.
“There’s just certain things out there that we just worked on today,” Ford said. “We wanted to see how my straight ahead running was, just to see if I can actually do that and get up on my toes. That went pretty well today.”
Ford has missed the past four games as a result of the injury he suffered against the San Diego Chargers on Nov. 10. Moore has missed the past three games with an injury he received against the Minnesota Vikings.
It’s to the point where the Raiders need all hands on deck, given they are one game behind the Denver Broncos in the AFC West, with three games to play, and without much margin for error.
Still, Ford said, he won’t play again until he is certain that his foot is sound enough to where he can make a difference at receiver and on kick returns.
“I wouldn’t say I would want to rush back and not be able to be my regular Jacoby Ford out there on the field,” Ford said. “I definitely want to be the same player I was before I got injured. I wouldn’t want to go out there if I don’t feel confident in myself to play to the best of my abilities and hurt the team instead of help the team.”

WIMBLEY SILENT
Outside linebacker Kamerion Wimbley declined comment today, when approached for an interview.
In particular, I sought clarification on why the Raiders were penalized on Wimbley’s fumble return for a touchdown — defensive end Lamarr Houston got called for clipping during the return — even though the return was overturned when the officials ruled that Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ arm was moving forward when the ball came out of his right hand.
So, for that, we will turn to coach Hue Jackson, when he has his news conference at 2 p.m.
It seems odd that the penalty still applied, even though it occurred after the incompletion.

SCHILENS FINE
Wide receiver Chaz Schilens confirmed that he left the Packers game early on as a result of his aggravating the foot injury he suffered against the Miami Dolphins the previous game.
Schilens said his foot is “fine” and that he expects to play against the Lions.
“It’s just a little sore, that’s it,” Schilens said. “It will be all right.”

MCCLAIN SPEAKS
Raiders middle linebacker Rolando McClain spoke with the media Monday, despite saying last Thursday that he was “done” giving interviews for the rest of this season and the rest of his career.
Not sure if he changed his tune on his own accord or if the threat of a huge fine by the NFL — players are required to speak with the media — did the trick.
Either way, McClain spoke for more than five minutes on an array of topics. I shall post the entire transcript in a few minutes.
McClain was asked for comment about his role in an incident in Decatur, Ala., almost two weeks ago in which he was
arrested and charged with four misdemeanors, including third-degree assault.
A childhood friend of McClain’s accused McClain of holding a gun to his head, threatening to kill him and then firing the gun next to his ear.
McClain’s lawyer said his client is innocent. Coach Hue Jackson said he is confident, after speaking with McClain, that McClain isn’t guilty of all that he is accused of doing.

No Cortalnd Finnegan on the wish list?

    —————–

Could be nice, but the front seven should be the priority as age and depth are both huge issues.

I’d love the Raider front seven to be:
    Williams – Poe – Houston – Shaughnessy/Bryant
    Curry – Ruud – Wimbley

HUH??? Did you guys watch the last two games?? lst off, our team did not even show up. For either game. And if that is not bad enough, Miami got absolutely rolled yesterday by a mediocre Philly team. That makes things even worse. If Richard Seymour does not make a game saving tackle on Sanchez on the last play of the jet game, and Huff doesn’t pick Schaub, this team could easily end 5-11 or worse. And that is coming off last year into this one with momentum.

    ===================================================

MCClain ALWAYS makes the wrong gap read. You would think just out of sheer luck he would hit it once in awhile. Guys in the 2nd level should not have to continually make stops. That has been the problem here the last 6 years. BTW, it was Mitchell who took himself out of the play as well.

  • 18yearsold18yearfan

Raiders fans are some of the most bi polar dumb fans ever. Before the season 75% of you were expecting is to win at the most 7 games many were predicting 4 or 5 wins and were but hurt that cable wasn’t the coach anymore. You were talking about how easy our schedule was last year and how we would be lucky to win that many games with our much harder schedule this year. But when hue got this team playing good you switched your expectations so much higher that you now want to fire hue it makes no sense

  • Mistic1 Tha Supavillain

4 lowest QB ratings in the NFL:

    Rex Grossman 71.8
    Carson Palmer 70.8
    Curtis Painter 66.6
    Blaine Gabbert 65.3

    ELITE ?!?!?!?

  • bcz24

I think the one thing someone in here pointed out that REALLY speaks to the problems is this, there is no one field leader. Carson may be that guy next year, but he is still trying to find his way in the Silver and Black, and poor decision making aside, he isn’t getting much help. Our receivers dropped more balls than were intercepted yesterday. Guys you would expect to be leaders just aren’t. DMAC, sure he is probably the most explosive RB in the game, also the most injury prone. Bush will always just be DMACs backup. McClain… he is just a criminal. Seymour gets tuned out when he leads the league in personal fouls and ejections.

Tebow wins because there are 53 guys on the Bronco roster that will give everything they have for him. Carson doesn’t have that and neither did Campbell for that matter. If JC had a bad game the team would fold up just as fast as they do for Carson.

You can blame Hue all you want, but this is still the house Al built. Al was always more concerned with raw athletic ability than any of the intangibles REAL winners bring to the table. This team ALWAYS folds under even the smallest amount of adversity. Its just a collection of over-paid athletes. Not a team.

  • 18yearsold18yearfan

Palmer is NOT elite. NOT ELITE

  • hackraid

For the last 3 years, people in Houston were screaming fire Gary Kubiak. Now look at them. They got a D-coordinator and now he can just do the offense. Last year, Hue just ran the offense and look what happened. Now he has to constantly look over Breshnehan’s shoulders and try to fix the run defense. We rank 26 in total defense,29 in rushing defense, and 28 in points allowed. People talk about Tebow, but look at what his defense is doing. If your defense played like that we would be alot better, and have more possesions for the offense

    ————–

Yes. I thought this would end when Al wasn’t running the defense anymore. Bres just does the same thing but blitzes more. NO OTHER DEFENSE in the league, and certainly not any elite defenses, leaves safeties and linebackers in man-to-man situations against WRs as much as the Raiders do.

One thing none of you have said is how Palmer was just getting beaten to sh** back there yesterday and he stood there the entire game and took it and played. That IS called leadership. Somehow I just don’t see Jason doing that.

  • nwr8r

I agree Palmer is not playing well, but he has the ability to play better. Who would any of you want instead? You can bash Palmer all you want, but honestly, who would you rather have at QB right now given the circumstances?

next years draft and FA we go all in to fix the D…

we start by getting rid of the DCO…

  • 18yearsold18yearfan

I never liked Palmer I wondered why he got the Brett Favre treatment the last few years when nothing he did wrong was his fault but when we traded for him I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt but he’s not good. The only upside is with him we only gave up one 1st round pick and not two

  • fingers

Bresnahan needs to go for sure…. Our defense isn’t just bad…. It’s embarressing …can’t stop the run… Can’t stop the pass… Our team speed looks slow…the Tackeling issue drives me up the wall .. Our team can’t Fk’n tackle…. Not real pleased with the offense… But my biggest issues are with the defense…our front 4 looked like dancing Bears yesterday and on Miami…
Better sweep these last 3 games…and they better show some desire to win… Tackle ..and get them to the turf..

    =======================================

This is the NFL. Every team has injuries. Some of the great stories in sports are when guys go out, other no name guys come in and play even better. Our team no one showed up. You have to put that on the coach. Even with Cable we were never out of a game in 25 minutes like we have the last two weeks.

  • hackraid

Maybe we can get a 3-4 coordinator. If Goethel comes back that gives us 4 linebackers and Wimbley can play the linebacker, rush the passer end.
    Ryan Grant; WTF!!!!!! C’Mon Man!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • RaiderAD

why all the Palmer posts? this is insane – the guy gets under center, looks left, looks right and sees two guys that don’t make half the rosters in the NFL, let alone START

and when he turns around the guy behind him is a back-up plodder

injuries at key positions have derailed this season – though it is not over….a 10-6 Raiders team may just end up in the playoffs – it is very possible

further – our run defense remains horrible….as I’ve previously posted, we have never been as stout against the run as we were when Matt Millen was in the middle -a long time ago

so this fixation on Plamer is misguided

and one last thing – if Jason Campbell slides feet first versus Cle, we win the next two games, vs KC and Den, and would at least have some cushion to await the return of our playmakers

    peace

  • Raiderbuck

And of course every time something good happens to the Raiders, fumble pick it up and run it back for 6 – the refs throw flags. Zebras sux – complete and utter horse pucky.

  • YoungAmerican

SO NOW HE IS THROWING dhb under the bus for his own crappy passes?!?!?!

    ————

No, throwing him under the bus would be saying “Darrius got abused by CWood, who basically ran the slant route for him.” Which is what happened.

CP was at fault for the first pick of the game, as well as the end zone pick. Both terrible decisions, forcing the ball into an impossible situation.

  • fingers

Palmers made some bad decisions for sure…. Personally , I need to give him somemore time….six games just isn’t enough time for me to judge the trade or how much he has left….I’ve seen him make some throws that show me his arms still strong… It’s his decision making I question so far….same with Hue… He’s made some head bonehead decision but I gotta give him the rest of this year and next to come to a conclusion ….IMO …

Im calling BULLSH!T there buddy. Cable lead us to plenty of stinkers in his tenure, and Cable NEVER had to play against a team the calibur of what GB is right now. At our BEST we would have lost by 20 yesterday. Thats not on the ROOKIE HC thats on the GM that built the team. We can’t afford quality depth because we have half our salary cap tied up on 4 defense underachievers. These ‘diamond in the rough’ guys that we find in the later rounds every year, they ARE THE QUALITY DEPTH for other NFL teams.
