WR Moore returns to practice; McFadden, Ford still out

By Steve Corkran
Wednesday, December 14th, 2011 at 11:41 am in Oakland Raiders.

Wide receiver/punt returner Denarius Moore provided the Raiders with a bit of welcomed good news by returning to practice Wednesday.
Moore has been sidelined with a sore foot since he sprained it against the Minnesota Vikings on Nov. 20. He is fielding punts and catching passes on the field right now.
Meanwhile, running back Darren McFadden is nowhere to be seen. He has missed the past 52 days with a midfoot sprain and there still isn’t a timetable for his return this season, if at all.
Wide receiver Jacoby Ford (foot) and running back Taiwan Jones (hamstring) are working on an adjacent field with a team trainer. That portends their being a realistic shot at one or both returning in time for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions.
Wide receivers Chaz Schilens, Darrius Heyward-Bey and Louis Murphy also are practicing despite getting banged up at some point against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
Defensive tackle John Henderson (knee) and free safety Michael Huff (hamstring) are not practicing today. Both suffered injuries against the Packers. Cornerback Chris Johnson is not practicing, and he was not on the field as a spectator, either.
Center Samson Satele (shoulder) made it to practice despite his injury against the Packers.

why did Hue give up all those picks now ?

    —————————————————–

Well Marc Davis gave up those picks because he thought he would have McFadden, Moore, and Ford to compliment Palmer.

Would have been one of the top offenses in the league.

Cp played horribly last game. Cp played horribly versus KC and Den but I give him a pass on those. Yet his passer rating in all of these games was higher than JC’s versus SF last year… Care to comment on this?

All I know is that Carson Palmer has thrown 13 interceptions “THIS YEAR”. At least Jason Campbell protected the ball and check down to the tight end or running back when the called play was not available. With the best punter in the NFL, that was smart of Jason Campbell and thats what Carson need to do. You can’t give your opponents a half field and expect to win. Carson Palmer has a strong arm and is trying to be superman out their getting picked off. Carson need to play smarter and check down if the play is not there PERIOD!

    ———————————
Agree man! I like the way JC managed the game and I like the way Palmer distributes the ball around the field. JCs problem is he did not take enough chances and not a lot of touch on his deep ball, but he was improving. Palmer, fogets there is another team on the field at times and thinks he can place the ball anywhere. He can’t! His decision making in Greenbay blew me away!

    Question:

would Al Davis give Tom Cable the same pass most Raider fans are giving Hue Jackson for losing games due to having so many injured players?
    *********************
I’m gonna go with yes. Tom Cable was 4-8 his first season (interim) and 5-11 his first full season, and HE ‘earned’ another season

Doesn’t the performance of your QB affect the whole TEAM . Look at the COLTS … There defense has always sucked , especially against the RUN . But put a dope @ss QB back there (Peyton.M) and they are superbowl contenders. That was why Palmer was brought in as a supposed upgrade to LEAD us to a playoff spot . But he has sucked this year and thus affected the whole TEAM with his turnover prone game. Blame the defense ,ST or coaching, but it all starts with the QB !

  • DeuceDeuce

We will stay in the 7-9 to 9-7 range until we upgrade the right side of our o-line and learn to stop the run.

I still think the Palmer trade will be a good one..

Who is disputing that? Hue? Carson? No. They have both said they need to get that corrected. You act like Campbell was perfect, or was BENCHED in favor of Palmer. Campbell CAN NOT PLAY… this argument is meaningless…

If Palmer can stay healthy and get his arm strong and not make those bonehead passes we may be able to do something. he has to stop forcing the rock around!

A QB battering-ram’s career will be short-lived. Even if the style of play were revolutionary (it’s not), it won’t last long.

    —————————————————–

Well you could argue that there would be a much bigger pool to draw from so the position could sustain a higher turnover rate.

You think a lot of these players who never get a chance would take their chances on a 3 or 4 year career?

And if you factor in the guys who can actually throw as well as the guys who are smart enough to “run smart”, I think we could see those years stetch out to somewhere close to what it is now.

Really smartass? What were our defensive rankings BEFORE Palmer came on board?

Remember the Buffalo game when this defense gave up 35 points in the second half? Campbell threw only 1 int in that game… and it was the final play of the game AFTER this sorry excuse for a defense had quit.

“you said newton would be terrible n the nfl

    newton owns you

you said jc would fail in oakland”

Stop putting words in my mouth you don’t like it when people do it to you so stop it!

I never said JC would fail I have supported him all along I said I had my doubts about his ability to be a consistent starter because of his past in Washington big difference between that and hoping a guy fails. Same with Newton I didn’t say he would fail I said I doubt he was as good as he was hyped up to be and that Andy Dalton would be just as good.

I can admit when I am wrong but don’t put words in my mouth.

    Most important question about QB’s:

Would we be better off now with Boller running things until Campbell healed?

No. We likely would be out of the Playoff hunt already.

Getting Palmer was the right thing to do.

He may even turn into a passer before it is all over. The sky is the limit for this kid.

Your right, when you spend that much Multiple playoff appearences are expected. If in week 15 next year we are 7-6 and our playoff hopes are teetering and Palmer is struggling I will be the first to say Hue fvcked up real bad. Hue will not survive next season without a winning record and a playoff appearence (unless extenuating circumstances occur, as have this year).

I wasn’t talking about the compensation we paid Cincy, I was talking about what Palmer was brought here to do THIS SEASON. Of course expectations are MUCH higher going forward, based on that compensation. But you wont be able to judge the trade and compensation until at the EARLIEST the conclusion of next year. NO WAY can you judge based on Palmers first 6 starts, with most of his offense weapons on the sidelines or playing through injury.
