Being raised and living far away from the Bay Area , I remember as a kid hearing about the A’s and their attendance and how they barely broke 1 million fans during the back to back world series titles. I had always thought that was weird and wondered why. It left me with the impression that the folks out in Oakland didn’t care much about sports.

I know that’s not true, but this is going back to Charlie Finley days. When Al took ‘em to LA, I had thought it was becuz of the lack of interest in the Raiders.

I have since learned different of course, but that was the impression left on an “outsider”.
