Keeping track of Hue Jackson reports from various NFL analysts:

Charley Casserly of The NFL Today on CBS said he spoke with both Jackson and his agent, and that Jackson has not been fired. Casserly said Kennard McGuire, the agent for both Jackson and new general manager Reggie McKenzie, told him McKenzie “planned to come in this week and evaluate the entire organization.”

Jay Glazer of The NFL on Fox reported McKenzie was to meet with Jackson Monday and that it was his feeliing Jackson would remain as head coach.

The Raiders made no announcements Sunday and aren’t expected to say anything until Tuesday, when McKenzie is introduced at a 2 p.m. press conference.

Reggie McFailure has done nothing thus far to improve this team.

Hey Reggie! Oakland is that a way!

This inaction on the part of our so called “GM” is inexcusable.

    FIRE MCLAME-O ASA-Yesterday.

So I read this blog as it’s a good source of information and discussion on the team.

As for Hue, I’ll say this:

If he has lost the team, as in they don’t respect or believe in him or his offense, that’s beyond repair and I expect McKenzie to be able to sense this and make the move.

But for a first year head coach, here’s what he had to work with:

-Youth and cast offs on the O-line
-3 quarterbacks, none all pro level
    -Star running back gone
    -Horrible defense
-Death of the owner (leaving him as arguably the most senior football guy on the team)
-Overpaid players he did not choose (minus Palmer)
    -A defense he doesn’t control
    -Loss of star cornerback

Gruden started in a eerily similar situation, went 7-3 in the first 10 games and 1-5 down the stretch.

His second year once he had “his guys” he still went 8-8. He was run out of town two years later and minus Callahan’s lightning in a bottle season we have not recovered since.

Al was responsible for the defense, we all know that. And arguably our defense hasn’t been great since the return to Oakland (we’ve had a few ok years, but in general it’s ok against the pass and horrible against the run).

If the offense still believes in Hue (and I trust McKenzie to be able to sniff this out), he needs to stay. Lack of continuity for players and systems has almost destroyed this team.

And for the comments his trade was a waste: we were in the hunt all season to the end of the game against SD. All it took was 8-8 and a better division record than ours to make the playoffs in the AFC West. We wouldn’t have won in SD or Minnesota with Boller. I don’t blame the guy for trying to win now.

    My 2 cents….

    Breaking news…

A league source close to the Raiders has confirmed that Reggie McKenzie’s first order of business is picking new drapes for the new home with the wifey. They quote Reggie as saying, “Wife always comes first.” The source says the fate of Hue Jackson and other coaching staff rests in how agitated or not the wifey makes Reggie during this home-decorating phase.

  • PlunkforHOF

Chris.. put me down for no problem.. however if Reggie keeps him, well I’d have to support it.

I know. You prompted me to throw one out there, lol.

I would think tomorrow is DDAY for Bresnahan, right?

Or will Reggie wait for the 15 th? Wouldn’t it make sense to go ahead and do it tomorrow?

  • fingers

Bresnahan is as good as outta here IMO… I just can’t see how they’d keep him… Not sure it will be announced at the presser but I’d expect it will be real soon… We may learn Hue fate very soon also

    WTF, where are you Cork?

  • canadianraider

i come home…turn on the computer and read this page..rarely saying anything..but man…its redundant how everyone complains about things they shouldnt be complaining about like the offense…our offense is good enough to get to the post season…dont expect our o to be with the elite such as the pack the pats or the saints..but our offense is right up there with the other teams in the playoffs…if our defense was as good as it was last year we would have played last weekend possibly this one as well….change what needs to be changed and stop mentioning things like the qb or the offense for the sake of discussion..its old and its soooo wrong

Hue Jackson and Reggie McKenzie will meet prior to the press conference tomorrow. My sources say Coach Hue’s job is safe.

  • fingers

If McKenzie wants to go in a new direction for a Hc I’d think he’d want to cut ties with Hue quickly and start the search… Unless he already has a HC in mind …..I still think Hue gets at least 1 more season … Just a hunch

  • fingers

    Albert… Yep… I’ve heard it both ways …

  • dbaz09

Great points by Mark L… the problem with Hue Jackson, however, is that he was way over the top with his reaction to Al’s passing after the Houston game, his presser after the SD loss came across as shady and even his snub of Norv after the game was revealing. Translation: we may have an LA street hustler on our hands and can the front office trust him. I suspect the players have enough street smarts to have drawn their own conclusions.

  • fingers

Canadianraider… Lol… We have a need to nag and complain… And if theirs nothing to nag and complain about , we”ll make something up to complain about

    Nice post Mark L

I thought the samething about Hues reaction to Al’s death…. Hate to say it but it seems it was a little ( lot) of a put on ….

  • Hue is an emotional guy. I don’t think he was faking it.

  • fingers

Albert… Maybe some people are a lot more emotional about that kind of thing…I don’t feel right judging another persons grief .. So I probley shouldn’t have ..

  • canadianraider

what # was the post from Mark L please?…lol fingers..ur right its not our fault we chose a team that stresses us out every year..not consistency except the fact they consistently shoot themselves in the foot..hmmmm maybe plax burress belongs on our team

    not consistent*

Keep an eye on LSU RT Alex Hurst. He might declare for the draft.

They should give him a damn award or trophy for that WTF are you talking about that dweeb is the biggest media hater of Al Davis and the entire Oakland Raider organization there is. He hates us I would punch Kawakami too if I could.

That little wimp said to Herrera he would sue and own part of the Raiders if he hit him…what a slimy little weakling if you ask me he should be punched for how he writes about our team.

  • djohnnyg

Raider offense is unique. Not like the Saints, GB or NE, but it has its own “flavor”.

None of those offenses has the “gamebreaker” at RB and the Raiders don’t have the “crafty white guy” like GB and NE, and those teams don’t have nearly the WR speed Oakland has either.

On paper, you’d almost think we were better on offense than those guys.

I know guys would say the difference is we don’t have the QB those teams do, but Carson Palmer is no slouch imo.

I’ve been wondering how the players really feel about Hue. It’s hard to tell if Hue lost the whole team or just the Defense, seems like some players did quit on him. It will be interesting to see if McKenzie is the type to take the time and evaluate the staff or come out firing both six shooters.
Some exciting times coming up for Raiders fans.

Canadian… I hear ya … It was a family decision for me… I was born just north of Oakland in Richmond and our whole family lives and dies Raider ….maybe it will be aggravating with our New GM… Hoping so ..

    ===========================================

OF COURSE he told Herrera he would sue. Herrera’s a big guy. No way Kawakami survives a fistfight with him.

And he shouldn’t have to. Herrera’s little tantrum made our organization look like even more of a laughingstock. John Herrera is symbolic of everything wrong with the old way of doing things, and hopefully he’ll be dispatched sooner rather than later.

regarding hue’s emotion during the houston game..part of me felt sympathetic but afterwards i couldnt help but wonder if it was all for show..did he have to sit on the sidelines knelt down knowing the cameras were on him?..if it were someone like Madden still coaching us i wouldnt have a doubt it was genuine..but hes been on our team for 2 seasons….i dont know but maybe it was a bit too much….even in the locker room when he was crying…was he?..i didnt see a tear..i just hope it wasnt an act…maybe im wrong…ill give hue credit cause i dont know him personally so who am i to judge

  • fingers

    Canadian ..sorry… I meant ” less” aggravating

  • DKnight007

It’s funny cause some of you cried and whined and about Gruden being too emotional and talking too much and all the man did was lead the Raiders to 3 AFC West titles and built a Super Bowl contender.
