    Duck

    from 32nd to 24th isn’t a dozen.

    =======================================

I was looking at yardage. From 32nd to 20th, in one year.

  • SnB offense defense specialteams

Wade Phillips had a roster of young players like Cushing, JJ Watt, Conner Barwin…with true difference makers like DeMarco Ryans and Jonathan Joseph.

The Raiders have NOTHING compairing to that.

WE have Tyvon Branch and Matt Shaughnessy that could be comparable talents.

    The rest?

    You will be disappointed.

  • Twocents

I even like the way McKenzie looks. Really, would you give any sh*t to him?

  • http://www.raiderettes.com Sullivan44

Twocents, you like the fact that McKenzie came in here, all but announced that he would hire Winston Moss, then suddenly went mute and started interviewing retreads and no-names?

  • 303Raider

    Sully,

Lol, thanks for your honesty. I know it’s been 9 years since. We’ve competed.

We are on the bottom part of the up-curve. It’s like when the market tanked in March of 2009. Buy Raider stock today, the future is bright, Al is gone, RIP.

Gonna take Reggie a minute to air out all the stank from 9 years of losing, 7 years of 11 losses or more.

We need to believe and support our Raiders now more than ever.

    ………

That’s what a lot of fans said about the return of Shell in ’06. Uh, no thanks.

  • SnB offense defense specialteams

and the Raiders have no draft picks to get a JJ Watt cause they traded it for a QB with 2-3 years left in the tank.

  • alex7

    twocents

honestly curious. what have you liked about McKenzie’s moves since coming to Oakland?

Coaching search = scattered, coaches are turning him down, only 2nd interview guy so far has ONE year experience as DC, so is technically more raw than Hue.

Fired a guy with a known, quantifiable talent (offense, points) after one season (best season in last 10 years).

    Honestly, what’s been great?

    ============================================

When did he “all but announce” he would hire Moss? I must have missed that during the presser.

  • http://www.raiderettes.com Sullivan44

Alex, what’s scary is that a lot of the reputed Davis worshipers are now in McKenzie’s corner. What does that tell you?

McCoy foolishly turned him down because he thought he had the Dolphins job.

  • alex7

    SnB

    Palmer + later round NT

is better than JJ Watt + Pryor/Boller/JC

I mean, this we agree on, right? 10 out of 10 times if the goal is to score points and win games.

  • Twocents

Sully, I think McKenzie said he had a short list. I have no problem at all with what he has done. Cover all the bases, that is what I’d do.

  • DutchRaider77

Twocents, you like the fact that McKenzie came in here, all but announced that he would hire Winston Moss, then suddenly went mute and started interviewing retreads and no-names?

    ___________________________________________________

Source, never heard him say this in any related press conference? What is your source? Just the story that if Big Mac said years ago if he was made GM, he would hire Moss?

  • ghostraiders

If hue Jackson is so great, why can’t he land at the very least an O coordinator position? .. nobody wants him.. not even as o coordinator. ..LOL. the guy has character issues. Anywhere he goes, he will sharpen his knife to stab the head coach in the back. That’s why Fisher didn’t want him in St Louis. .

  • alex7

    duck,

so again, nothing he’s done has been great, right? Not even “good.”

As the Silver article correctly pointed out, many of the NFL people he interviewed (notice the plural) stated our HC next year would be a downgrade. Sure is looking that way.

  • http://www.raiderettes.com Sullivan44

Ghost, who other than the Raiders were looking at McKenzie as GM?

  • alex7

    Ghost

Hue doesn’t need to be great after his first HC year. He has to be better than the guys we’re interviewing right now.

No rational non-Al-worshipper can say that

new HC + new DC will be better than Hue + new DC.

  • Gooooooooooooogle NEW AND IMPROVED

    Grudens comin back
    Grudens comin back
back to the silver and black
    Grudens comin back

    Like it or not
    Like it or not
    Gruden is hot
    Like it or not

    Grudens comin back
    Grudens comin back
back to the silver and black
    Grudens comin back

Theres only one coach who can grab this team by the balls and mean business people, and thats Gruden. He’s back already. In his heart, he never even left. Reggie gone and done right. Gruden is back.

  • SnB offense defense specialteams

Hue was only made head coach because of a “unique” hiring arrangement.

Hue is not head coach material. He proved it in Oakland. Couldn’t manage the team…and only focused on his responsibilities as an average offensive coordinator…who then threw everyone from the bridge but himself.

Raiders deserve AND WILL GET better.

  • alex7

    daaaaaang Sullivan

    excellent observation.

The SAME guys that thought Al Davis was doing everything right,

now think McKenzie is doing everything right.

History, repeat, history, repeat. All because he “was a Raider!” and had Brett Favre + McCarthy’s system.

    Like giving Jim Caldwell kudos.

  • http://www.raiderettes.com Sullivan44

    SnB, no pressure.

All the Raiders have to do to prove their new HC is an improvement over Hue Jackson is win 9 games. No pressure at all.

  • alex7

    lol SnB

if top 12 O two years in a row is AVERAGE

    give me more of that.

  • alex7

I like how we just had our best season since the Gruden teams, and we trash our rookie HC.

Apparently some in here thought we were really good? Particularly on D?

    Why?

I don’t see a 49er banner. Maybe it is regional marketing.

  • ghostraiders

Sully. . No one..they only interviewed McKenzie. . Which I didn’t like. . But oh well!! … I just want McKenzie to hire thieves best qualified hc available. . Good luck with that. But it was obvious Jackson and McKenzie were going To butt heads.. hue had to go.. but I admit I initially wanted him to stay on for one more season…

    YYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

Grudens comin back, all this other tripe is just a smokescreen. Welcome back Jon Gruden.

  • http://www.raiderettes.com Sullivan44

I love how 95.7 first said they were a Raider and Niner station. Didn’t take them long to sell out and just go for that peninsula Niner market. Aholes.

  • 303Raider

It will take 2 years to be able to say if Reggie was a good hire.

We all have wanted a GM for some time and now we have one.

He comes from an organization that during his tenure won 2 SB, has had only 2 QB’s, and appeared In the playoffs numerous times.

I said years ago that The raiders would not start winning again until the Old Man died or retired.

Gonna take Reggie some time. I liked Hue, alot, but a new GM never keeps the old coach, never.

We are going throug a new ERA, and I for one and optimistic. It can’t get worse, can it?

Take your time Reggie, it’s not like our division is gonna change, no matter who you pick as our next HC, take our time.

  • Back By Popular Demand

Wow! Is Gruden really comin back? I hope everyone can dig it cuz Reggie is da man.

  • ghostraiders

525.. Haleluya!! I didn’t want the corner butcher.. Mike Tice as the HC. ..thank God.. hope you’re right. .

Blister I wish you were right, but if Reggie wants to announce his HC by Saturday Grudens name would have come up by now….bad feeling it’s Allen or Morningweig.

  • alex7

Nah, Reggie gave our HC 1 year, Reggie gets 1 year.

:) It’s all about winning, right?

Better win 9 games next year, or it was a failure.

Actually, the coaching search has been excellent. He’s interviewed a wide range of candidates from all over the NFL:

    One interim coach
    One assistant head coach
Two offensive coordinators (one a former HC)
    One defensive coordinator

I’m not seeing a problem here.

  • alex7

If Al had hired Morningweig or a 1-year DC who’s team ranked 24th?

    Pitchforks!

When McKenzie does it? “Great hire!” Just watch.

    Sheep.

Mark was stuck. Chicago was going to interview him the next day, and probably offer him their job. It was either offer him the job then, or lose out. I’m glad we got him.

  • Twocents

If McKenzie picks Gruden then I have really misjudged the man. Gruden is the white version of Hue.

  • ghostraiders

Sully. . You’re right about 95.7. Those guys are a bunch of aholes. . I can’t stand tierany and davis. . A jets fan and a 9er fan.. screw that show.. I hate those fools..posers! !

Lovie Smith is an exception. I should have clarified by asking can anyone point to a time where the new GM who came kept the current coach AND had success the following year?

If Coach Gruden were to return, it would not take him long to jump right in and get cracking. He’s in the booth and already knows whats goin on in Oaktown. Prolly kept a closer eye on the Raidahs than most teams.

Bring in a loser coach from another team and all he knows is the team and the players hes had for the last season or 2.

Gruden knows his way around the halls of Alemeda and the bowels of the O.

Gruden. Only choice. Logical choice. Nothing else will be acceptable.

Put an end to the insanity and the dysfunction. Here Gruden. Its a no brainer.

    ==============================================

Todd Bowles: Interviewed for multiple HC jobs, and went 2-1 as an interim head coach.

Marty Morhninweg: Former HC who’s run one of the NFL’s top offenses for half a decade.

Dennis Allen: Up-and-coming defensive coordinator whose unit showed substantial improvement with very little personnel turnover.

Winston Moss: Assistant head coach for one of the NFL’s most successful teams for several years running.

Again, these are all good candidates. But go ahead and continue to hate on anyone not named Hue Jackson or Jon Gruden. Yawn.

Pete Carmichael: OC for another of the NFL’s top offenses.

  • alex7

Holmgren kept Mangini. Team was actually better back then.

Good thing new Steelers GM Kevin Colbert didn’t fire little-known coach Bill Cowher in 2000.
