Raiders without more than head coach right now; Tice scratched

Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie is in Mobile, Ala., for the Senior Bowl. He arrived there Monday, with eight scouts in tow and no coordinators or assistant coaches. For good reason: all effectively are out of work.
For now, at least. The Raiders removed the coaches page from their official website. That lends further credence to McKenzie’s stance that whoever he hires as the replacement for the fired Hue Jackson will be allowed to hire his own staff.
Given that, some, most or none of the coaches from Jackson’s staff will be back in 2012, even those whose contracts haven’t expired.
Defensive line coach Mike Waufle and wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal already bolted, with Waufle going to the St. Louis Rams and Lal to the New York Jets in the same capacity they served the Raiders.
During his few days in Mobile, McKenzie intends to interview some prospective candidates for the Raiders head coaching vacancy.
His scheduled interview with Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Mike Tice on Tuesday has been canceled, according to multiple reports from Chicago.
“I was disappointed I wasn’t able to complete the interview process,” Tice told ESPNChicago.com. “But let me say this: I’m very excited about the opportunity and the new position I have with the Bears. I strongly believe everything happens for a reason. And I think there are some great reasons to be in Chicago.”

    389. lol! I’m sure they could care less if one grammar school teacher gets offended by their lack of syntax. Honeslty, have U ever read ANY raider sites other than this one?

RN times, Silver and black pride, TFDS all horrible. At least this one has the right info most of the time and yeah, the best insight.

No need to argue with you. Have your opinion. I’m sure they could care less. i9 know I couldn’t.

    —————-

Well if you’re trying to be any kind of journalist, even if it’s just in the form of taking 2nd- and 3rd-hand information and repeating it in your blog as if you sourced it yourself, you SHOULD be concerned about your grammar. If they can teach it to elementary school students, why can’t you learn to properly use the English language? The only reason is laziness, and why am I supposed to believe the insight of anyone who is too lazy to use the spell check feature in Microsoft Word?

You’re right. They’re all horrible. That’s why I prefer to read sites where the writer is A) a professional, and B) has some means of contacting people close to the situation.

We dog Chucky B and Al Davis, but sometimes players have to play. There have been guys that have excelled in al’s system.

To be sure, al made big contract mistakes. However, these check cashers took advatage of Al Davis’ trust and confidence on them to be great.

It is completely unprovable. You will NEVER know what the play called required of the players to say they were put out of position versus, just didn’t know what the fck they were doing.

    ____________________________________________________

How about the Buffalo game, shouldn’t we have been playing some type of press coverage? Do you remember the quotes from the D-lineman? That they were not even being blocked, the pass was getting off so fast that the pass-rush was non-factor?

Or just the fact that Bres was being out coached and out schemed:

    Curry on Devone Bess?
    Houston on Antonio Gates?
Practice squad safety and middele linebacker on the BEST RECEIVER IN THE LEAGUE!

Or the texans game? 10 men on the field in the final play of the game?

  • FormerlyGoodOle00

    395. ?????

Of course you can tell which players where and the plays called!

Bres is an idiot who failed to make proper adjustments based on opposing Os, who he had to field and their strengths weaknesses.

Again and again from the Texans to Detroit to SD he kept calling the same crap, getting us killed and costing us games.

Link to ESPN, saying Raiders hope to finalize negotiations with Allen.

They always say “Start with the ability to beat the opponent in your own division.”

Perhaps Reggie figures that Allen will give us a heads up on what he figures will be a persistent challenge from Elway for the division title?

    396. McFadden’s injured too much period. BUT if anyone can lead an O over an elite D at RB its DMC.

    —————-

Well, even in 2010 – he struggled against the Steelers, Colts, Dolphins, and Texans. And only one of those teams was an “elite” defense at the time.

This season, the Patriots shut him down and the Texans contained him once again.

The NFL has changed. Offenses can’t lean on RBs, even if the RB in question is an “elite” guy. Again, how much good have AP and MJD done for their teams? Ladanian Tomlinson ever get SD to the big dance? What did Jamaal Charles do for KC against the Ravens in the playoffs in 2010?

    ———-

Yep. Had a pretty good day against the Patriots in 2009 (or 2010? I think it was ’09…), though. And Ray Rice is, I think, the best, most complete, most reliable running back in the league.

A VERY nice asset for the Ravens to have (especially as a 2nd round pick), and helps take some pressure off Flacco. But when push comes to shove? Teams have to make things happen through the air to knock off elite opponents.

Actually, I AM excited if it’s Allen.

Young coaches, like Gruden, are often consumed by their passion. They are also open to trying new things, open to looking for the kinds of guys others might not look at, and their enthusiasm is often infectious.

I think that what is most important is the coaching team, the people that the HC gathers to him, and the responsibilities and freedoms the hc gives his team members. You can’t be held accountable for anything if you’re never given some freedom.

    —————–

The Raiders’ offense stagnated because they rolled with Bush and Cartwright for the rest of the season, with Bush playing 30+ snaps a game – something he is NOT built to do.

Have to spell the guy. Should have promoted Lonyae Miller, at the very least. Needed another warm body, with fresh legs. Need a guy who opens up the playbook a little because Bush can’t run off tackle.

The Raiders didn’t need a gamebreaker. Just a guy who could help keep Bush’s carries around 15-20 by specializing in the things Bush doesn’t do effectively.
