ESPN: Allen is Raiders’ choice as HC
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Tuesday, January 24th, 2012 at 9:41 am in Oakland Raiders.
The Raiders are negotiating with Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Dennis Allen to become their head coach, according to ESPN.
Citing “multiple league sources,’’ the network reported Tuesday that other candidates, including Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg and Bears offensive coordinator Mike Tice have been informed they are no longer under consideration.
Tice, according to reports in the Chicago media, removed himself from consideration Monday night.
Allen, 39, would be the first Raiders head coach with a defensive background since John Madden was hired by Al Davis in1969 to succeed John Rauch. Before being hired by Denver, Allen was a defensive backs coach with the New Orleans Saints and also worked with the defensive line in both New Orleans and Atlanta.
General manager Reggie McKenzie is in Mobile, Ala., scouting for the Senior Bowl and told CSN-Bay Area Monday he hoped to have a coach named by the end of the week. McKenzie said at the time of his hiring he wanted his “own guy’’ as head coach and dismissed Hue Jackson after one season.
Allen’s strong candidacy is somewhat of a surprise given that he and McKenzie have no known background. McKenzie reportedly interviewed Allen for the first time last week in Denver while the Broncos other candidate, offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, pulled out of the running to concentrate on the vacancy in Miami.
In terms of defensive philosophy, Allen told the Broncos Web site heading into the 20111 season “We’re going to be built off speed and athleticism. We want to be a very fast, violent, aggressive type of defense.’’
Defensive collapses against Buffalo, Denver and San Diego in the season finale helped keep the Raiders out of the playoffs.

442. Dung American,
The knock on Taiwan wasn’t his dyslexia it was his inability to stay healthy.
The injuries and under performance of WRs and TEs truncated the Raider attack as well allowing teams to key on Bush.
BTW,Bush ran 30 times only TWICE in week 10 and 11 after that it was 24, 10,23, 18 and 19 times.

Only Raider fans can complain all year about how our offense isnt the same and how we cant win without DMC, then suggest we trade him in the off-season. LOL. Classic.
—————–
The Raiders’ offense stagnated because they rolled with Bush and Cartwright for the rest of the season, with Bush playing 30+ snaps a game – something he is NOT built to do.
Have to spell the guy. Should have promoted Lonyae Miller, at the very least. Needed another warm body, with fresh legs. Need a guy who opens up the playbook a little because Bush can’t run off tackle.
The Raiders didn’t need a gamebreaker. Just a guy who could help keep Bush’s carries

All the things that Bush does & doesnt… DMC does.
That logic you used is weak. All we needed to do was give the ball to someone else more?
Why not you? We could have just suited you up and ran you off tackle. Right?

I think everybody misconstrued what Reggie meant when he said he wanted his guy. He didn’t mean he wanted his buddy or someone he was familiar with, he meant he wanted his coach to be a guy he interviewed, and hired. Dennis Allen is now Reggies guy.
January 24th, 2012 at 9:47 am

is Dennis Allen known around the league as a bright young defensive mind?
is he a discipline guy or a players coach?
a dummy like Cable or an egghead like Jackson?
He’s been a coach in the NFL since 2002 and he’s working his way up the chain. Is he ready for HC though at 39 years old and only 1 year as Coordinator under his belt? I’ll be interested to know who “his guys” are for OC & DC

Bush played nearly every offensive snap down the stretch. Didn’t say he CARRIED 30+ times. I said he played 30+ snaps. Reading comprehension seems to elude you as much as grammar does.
With Jones and McFadden both injury prone, and Cartwright far removed from being an effective NFL running back, the Raiders needed to bring in another player. They didn’t, and it limited what they were able to do offensively.

ALLEN IS A GREAT CHOICE
people need to not focus on the points and yards the broncos gave up u to some teams this year. YOU CANT BLAME THE DENVER DEFENSE FOR HAVING TIM TEBOW AS THEIR QB AND THE OFFENSE PUNTING THE BALL EVERY POSSESSION. the offense ranked 21st in time of possession. to put that in perspective, the top teams in regards to time of possession were, Houston, Pitt, SD, ATL, and SF, its no coincidence that each of those teams had great ranked defenses.

———————
DMac does WHEN HEALTHY. He wasn’t.
Different players have different specialties. Certainly that isn’t something that escapes you, is it? Plenty of running backs out there aren’t every-down guys, but are effective in certain packages.
Bush limited the playbook because he was, for all intents and purposes, the ONLY true running back the Raiders had on their roster. And he’s most effective on inside runs or as a receiver out of the backfield. Doesn’t quite have the speed to beat the defense to the edge.
A player who could take on the plays Bush couldn’t do, even if it was only 5-10 snaps a game, would have been a huge asset to the offense. Especially towards the end of games, where too often the Raiders found themselves in 3rd-and-long because of failed running plays.
Not bringing in a guy who would have allowed Bush to take an occasional breather was one of the biggest failings of Hue Jackson in 2011.
You don’t need a gamebreaker at RB. Do either of the teams in the Superbowl this year have a gamebreaker in the backfield? How about the Superbowl last year? How about the year before?

The knock on Bush has always been endurance. Dude gets winded. He’s a big man. There’s nothing wrong with that, but the Raiders needed to understand the limitations of their player, and bring in guys who can do the things he couldn’t and keep him fresh.
No successful NFL team has one running back playing 95% of the offensive snaps.

is he a discipline guy or a players coach?
a dummy like Cable or an egghead like Jackson?
He’s been a coach in the NFL since 2002 and he’s working his way up the chain. Is he ready for HC though at 39 years old and only 1 year as Coordinator under his belt? I’ll be interested to know who “his guys” are for OC & DC
If it’s Saunders for OC & Richard Smith for DC, color me NOT IMPRESSED

Depending on who this kids Coordinators wind up being, it’s going to make or break whether I give this kid Allen a chance or not.
Is this kid going to bring discipline back to this team?
Is this kid going to be another Jon Gruden or is going to be another Lame Kiffin??
I think this choice is a reach to say the least.

———————–
Those guys don’t take over games like McFadden, Peterson, MJD, and Foster can. They MIGHT break off a long run every now and then, but that’s more a product of playcalling and execution by well-rounded offenses (or offenses that don’t allow defenses to play the run aggressively) than it is the product of sheer natural ability.
But the important thing is that those players get enough done to help their offense stay on schedule. Having a player like AP is nice, but it won’t get you to the Superbowl. It won’t even get you past the conference championship.

When Allen had a chance to implement his own scheme, he went 4-3. But one could argue the Broncos had better personnel for a 4-3 than a 3-4. Very little depth at LB, and the 4-3 move really helped Robert Ayers. They also had no real 0-tech NT who would allow them to run a base 3-4.

When you think of the Raiders getting gashed on running plays, is it teams pounding it on us up the gut play after play with the DTs back on their heels or blown out to the side …

Is it typically a handful of huge gains run off tackle and the linebackers either get sucked up into a hole are out of position, can’t shed blocks, etc.

“McClain, scheme and coaching are the defenses problems with stopping the run. Probably in that order.”
I would agree but also: sloppy tackling, the inability to shed blocks, missed gap assignments, and guys taking bad angles on plays are the problem.
These are fundamentals they are taught in camp and throughout the season. Hue Jackson was not paying attention to these things because he was interested in promoting himself even over spending time with his QB for game preparation.
The one last big part of this is “Desire” and that is on the players. Tackling is a state of mind, you have to want to bring a guy down to the ground and want to bring him down HARD!
Some guys have this mentality and some just don’t. So no matter what “Scheme” is installed until these fundamentals are addressed and until you fill the roster with guys who have the “Desire” to tackle hard you will see the same problems we have had over the last 9 years on our defense!

Allen must hate Pat Bowlen and John Elway to come to the dark side. If his defense can make a hack like Tebow look like a winner, just imagine what he can do for Palmer.
——————————————————— Wouldn’t you be pissed if your defense was keeping your team in games and not getting any credit!!! It all went to Tebow!!

Yes he is the hero. The Broncos were expected to finish dead last in the division and they over achieved on defense. Hue inherited an 8-8 and couldnt improve on that when he had JC/Palmer vs Donkey Tebow.

When you think of the Raiders getting gashed on running plays, is it teams pounding it on us up the gut play after play with the DTs back on their heels or blown out to the side …
or
Is it typically a handful of huge gains run off tackle and the linebackers either get sucked up into a hole are out of position, can’t shed blocks, etc
—————–
Both, sadly.
———————
Don’t have the stats handy to back it up but that’s not how I see it. I see a defense that holds opponents to a lot of 0, 1, 2 yard plays while getting good penetration in the middle of the line. Then allowing a 70 yard run off tackle because all of the LBs and DBs can’t get off a block on the same play and McClain is either too slow, too soft, too undisciplined or too lazy to make plays he should be making.

Allen is kind of like Winston Moss. Not a ton of a body of work to base an opinion on or get excited about, but at the same time, probably not enough of a body of work to say the hiring is a fail on Reggie’s part.
I guess we’ll see. Interesting that the first post-Al Davis coaching hire comes from the arch-nemesis Broncos. Hopefully Allen is smart and doesn’t gush about his time with the Broncos in his introductory presser.
I am curious to know what those who were on the fence about keeping/firing Hue think now that they’ve seen in the replacement process. Regrets?
January 24th, 2012 at 10:36 am
As I said before. Here’s what I like about Allen:
The Broncos steadily improved on defense, in spite of having to field lower-tier guys.
Woodyard and Mays were starting at LB.
Bruton and Carter were starting at S.
Bunkley and Thomas were starting at DT.
Andre Goodman was starting at CB.
Allen also took an undrafted FA in Chris Harris and turned him into one of the best nickel DBs in the NFL last season.
January 24th, 2012 at 10:36 am
I see a defense that holds opponents to a lot of 0, 1, 2 yard plays while getting good penetration in the middle of the line. Then allowing a 70 yard run off tackle because all of the LBs and DBs can’t get off a block on the same play and McClain is either too slow, too soft, too undisciplined or too lazy to make plays he should be making.
——————————————————
So our defense, which McClain is a part of, does it’s job for most of the game against the run, but gives up 1 or 2 big plays per game that are all McClain’s fault?
Cmon, Chris.
If McClain is good enough to be in the middle of the defense that give up 0, 1, or 2 yds a lot, how can you not give McClain any credit there?
January 24th, 2012 at 10:37 am
Denver Post:
“Many in the NFL who know Broncos defensive coordinator Dennis Allen say he will be a head coach in the league someday.
Someday might be a finalized contract away as Allen has emerged as the Oakland Raiders’ man for their vacant head coaching position. Allen, according to multiple league sources, is meeting today with Raiders officials, including newly-named general manager Reggie McKenzie to try to work out a deal.
Allen interviewed with the Raiders, in Denver, last Tuesday, the same day Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy cancelled an interview with the Raiders in order to attend a second interview with the Dolphins.
Allen, who just finished his first season with the Broncos, is considered an up-and-comer in league circles. He joined coach John Fox’s staff after a stint as the New Orleans Saints defensive backs coach.
Allen and the rest of the Broncos’ coaching staff along with vice president of football operations John Elway travelled to Mobile, Ala., on Monday to scout potential draft prospects preparing for the Senior Bowl.”

Bill Williamson:
“Raiders could use a defensive boost: Even though he was a first-time coordinator, Allen had a major impact in Denver. The Broncos were last in nearly every major defensive category in 2010. However, under Allen’s guidance, Denver’s defense improved immensely in 2011 and was a big reason why the Broncos improved from 4-12 to 8-8 and why they ended up as division champions. Oakland has a lot of talent on defense, but it has been giving up way too many big plays. If Allen gets the job and straightens out this problem, Oakland could be dangerous.”
So he took a last place defense and turned it into an asset. Sounds like just what we need in Oakland.

He’s better off being able to focus on his area of expertise.

Marty M. would be the best choice. He will be a HC again and will be successful. His stint in Detroit is like Shanahan in L.A. Now Marty has been around and has a lot more experience and has coached with some great talent. He will be a great hire for some NFL team. Remember where you heard it first.

January 24th, 2012 at 10:27 am The Broncos had no business being 8-8. We choked our way to it.
Thats how.
—————————————————
So I didn’t know that the Broncos:
- Owner/GM died
- Majority of their offensive weapons were hurt during the season
- Best Player only played half a season due to injuries
- Starting QB out for the season
- Replacement starting QB spent last year sitting on a couch watching games on Sunday.
- Best pass rushing DL was on IR.
- Replacement QB never played with entire starting offense due to injuries.
If this happened to the Broncos then this Allen guy is a perfect fit for the Raiders becuase it happened here too!
Allen’s Defense got lit up by Christian Ponder and the explosive Vikings Offense for 381 yards…WITHOUT PETERSON. Brady smoked this guy for 6 TD’s! I don’t remember one time last season when the Defense carried the Broncos. Tebow (your next starting Raider QB)would just pull games out of his a$$ every week.
You can’t tell me that this guy was the best available prospect and be serious.

Denver lost its last three, giving up more than 40 points in two of those three games. Should’ve lost four straight at the end but were saved by Barber running out of bounds, Prater hitting a 59-yarder, and Barber fumbling in OT.
Denver’s D was really up and down all year. If you ask me the one thing this team needed was more consistency on D but whatever.
In the end, Denver’s D was 24th in ppg. The Raiders were 29th. Denver’s D was 20th in yards per game. Raiders were 29th. The difference between the two Ds was about 30 yards per game and a little less than 3 points per game.

They only went to 1 NFC Title game in that time period in 2008/2009 season.
When I say deep into playoffs…I’m talkin Title games and getting into the Super Bowl!
Plus the biggest stats for me with Morninghag is the numbers below:
NFL Head Coaching Record Team Year Regular Season Post Season:
Won Lost Ties Win % Finish Won Lost Win % Result
DET 2001 2 14 0 .125 5th in NFC Central
DET 2002 3 13 0 .188 4th in NFC North

“The one last big part of this is “Desire” and that is on the players. Tackling is a state of mind, you have to want to bring a guy down to the ground and want to bring him down HARD!
“Some guys have this mentality and some just don’t. So no matter what “Scheme” is installed until these fundamentals are addressed and until you fill the roster with guys who have the “Desire” to tackle hard you will see the same problems we have had over the last 9 years on our defense!”

Allen’s defense shows what happens when you have a couple playmakers, and then a bunch of guys who just buy into the system and do their jobs.
Personally, if he’s the guy I’m looking forward to seeing what his defense can do when his team’s offense is capable of putting up more than 13 points a game.

According to Gutierrez, Al Saunders is the only Raider coach still under contract.

I’d be cool with keeping Saunders, Wylie, Wiz, Henry & Skipper for offensive “continuity”
Jackson & Lal are solid asst coaches, but it’s not impossible to replace them with guys looking for work at the Senior Bowl to get similar results imo

From Mile High Report:
DEFENSE
Scoring: 21.2 PPG, 21st in the NFL. This again measures how many points opposing offenses scored on Denver’s defense. This number is 6.4 PPG less than last season. Considering Denver was last in the NFL in 2010, this is a good improvement in just one year. The Broncos definitely benefited from the return of Dumervil and the additions of Miller, Harris and Bunkley. They will need to continue to add depth and talent this off-season through the draft and maybe free-agency.
Yards Per Touchdown: 118.2, 15th in the NFL. Considering Denver was 30th in 2010 at 99.3, this is a good improvement in year one under Fox and Allen. Even though they struggled against the top quarterbacks (Stafford and Brady), they played well at times.
Plays Per Touchdown: 21.95, 14th in the NFL. Again, there was a ton of improvement in this area. Denver gave up yards but was a considerably more efficient on defense than last year, an area they were 31st in the NFL, allowing opponents to score 7 points every 16.76 plays.
Third and Fourth Down Conversion: 33.480, 5th in the NFL. If Tebow and the offense are going to be criticized for failing to convert third downs, the defense should be credited for doing a good job forcing punts and field goals. This is Denver’s best ranking in the NFL in efficiency, by far. While teams did gain momentum and made tons of big plays at times, Denver came up with plenty of their own.
Negative Plays: 17.5, 12th in the NFL. Denver forced a sack, tackle for loss or hit the quarterback on 19.3 percent of their plays. They would have been much higher, but Dumervil was just getting into shape about 5 or 6 games into the season and Von Miller suffered an injury with about 5 or 6 games to go in the regular season. However, that one third of the regular season they were healthy at the same time, Denver put a ton of pressure on the opposing offenses. Again, Denver will need more players to have a consistent impact on defense so these two don’t have to play perfectly every week.
Quarterback Rating: 53.28, 27th in the NFL. This number just confirms what our eyes, saw – our secondary is either young and inexperienced or old, injured and/or slow too often. Opposing quarterbacks often took advantage of this when Von Doom, Dawkins or DJ Williams were unable to apply pressure. With Syd’ Quan Thompson recovering from injury and the much needed playing time for Rahim Moore, Chris Harris and Quincy Carter, this young secondary will hopefully continue to grow this off-season. Andre Goodman was picked on all year, but he wasn’t the only one who struggled. Denver’s entire secondary will need to improve. Denver also will need to do a better job pressuring the quarterback from the front-four. While Thomas and Bunkley did a good job defending the run, some times there was no push on the interior of the defensive line. This is the other area that needs to be addressed in some way by EFX.
Defense Unit Ranking: 63.048, 19th in the NFL. While Denver was efficient in some ways, they struggled as a whole, especially against the better offensive teams they faced. The Broncos can take pride in the fact they were the last ranked team in 2010 in this defensive rating. Denver performed well on third downs and against the run, but again, will need to improve in pass defense before they can become a good defense on a consistent basis.

Ok 2011 Dungver stats TOP 29:42 vs opp 32.04.
2011 Raiders TOP 29:55 vs opp 30:13.
So Denver opponents get about 1 extra drive per game.
January 24th, 2012 at 11:08 am
You mean winning like the…idk Super Bowl? Like the Saints?.. When Allen was on the coaching staff there?..
Like turning a team with little to no talent on the defensive side of the ball from a 5-11 team to 8-8?..
And a playoff win… Like that??..
————————–
Your saying that this guy was the reason that the Saints won the Super Bowl? Hell of an accomplishment for a DB coach. And if 3 extra wins gets you a head coaching job then wow your standards are pretty low. And i seem to remember that playoff win vs. the Steelers was a shoot out and not a Defensive battle. In fact and injured Ben almost led the Steelers back to win that game….against a team that lost its last four games and then got beat down the following week. Yeah I see your point. Great hire.

January 24th, 2012 at 11:18 am
http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_18875430
Though he had never been a coordinator before, Allen commanded respect from his players almost immediately.
Defensive players said they trusted that their new head coach, with Fox’s own background as a defensive coordinator, had selected the right guy to put in charge of turning around a unit that finished last in the NFL in total defense last year.
“He must have a military background, that’s the first thing I thought of. Must have been in the military or had that in his family background, some way or another. That’s the way he carries himself,” cornerback Andre Goodman said. “His thing is discipline, discipline, discipline. Do everything right, all the time, and never let up.”
While polling players for words to describe Allen’s personality and coaching style, three came up every time: intense, discipline and teacher.
Players said they respected Allen’s attention to detail when it came to installing the new defense and his ability to make each player understand his new role.
“You know how you get a teacher that’s real stern but not over the top? That’s how he is,” veteran cornerback Champ Bailey said.

Can’t say I’m a fan of Gutierrez, but the “mystery candidate” is interesting, whether Allen is the choice or not.
***
Indeed!
Moss is out of the running according to Packers sources, but he’s still one of the 3 remaining candidates?
Marty Mornhinweg, Pete Carmichael Jr. and Mike Tice are out. McCoy & Capers are out.
“mystery candidate” rules out Todd Bowles.
YA can probably figure this out for us …

If you have to harp on players to see the ball, take good angles, strip the ball, good tackling, shed blocks, fly to the football etc…. Said players shouldn’t even be playing in the NFL. You learn that sh!t in pop warner and high school.
It amazes me when they talk about that stuff at a pro level.
January 24th, 2012 at 11:50 am
Here is what Champ Bailey has to say about Allen..
Allen has a knack for relating to today’s players, Bailey said.
“He’s intense, he’s detailed, he knows football, he’s a great teacher,” Bailey said. “I like the way he explains things because he makes it to where you can understand what he means. It’s not like you’re sitting there trying to figure out, ‘What is he talking about?’ He knows exactly how to talk to his players.”
Bailey said some guys are good coaches but bad communicators, “and I think half the battle is getting to know your players and I think over time, he’s going to get even better at it because he’s still getting to know us.”
“I think a lot of success from coaches depends on their personality. Because you’ve got to know what it takes to get guys to play hard. And it’s sad to say but sometimes at this level, you have to be a good motivator, and he’s good in all those areas.”

I have been saying this all year long!!!
Hue was the head coach and after Al Davis passed he had complete control over all aspects of the team. He could have put some extra attention on the Defense if he wanted to and he could have made sure they were working on fundamentals like the ones you and I have mentioned in here many times.
The last piece of this that is on the players is “Desire”. Tackling is a state of mind you have to want to bring a player down hard to the ground. Some guys have this desire, others (Like McClain) do not!

Im not wild about allen as head coach, i wasnt that impressed with the donkey’s defense. When you have two outstanding rush ends it can mask a lot of stink on the defense. I would rather have had moss, although the defense in gb wasnt stellar this year, it was very good last year, and he was the assistant hc during for the former superbowl champs.

Jerry Sandusky has been apprehended at an unidentified location near Penn State which presiding law enforcement officials have described as a “homosexual lovenest” consisting of a small guesthouse.
As reported earlier Sandusky fled the mortuary responsible for the internment of Joe Paterno after Paterno was discovered lying in his casket with his slacks pulled down around his knees. When authorities were notified of the situation and came on scene Sandusky ran from the funeral parlour and exited it by car.
Acting on a tip from an anonymous caller, police then raided Sandusky’s alleged lovenest and found him there, along with two black men, one, whom police identified as Hue Jackson, former head coach of the Oakland Raiders, and a second man, who identied himself as, “Boyd, Jerome Boyd.” All those present in the “lovenest” were naked from the waist down.

But I’d still characterize that chance as a long shot. I heard Tuesday former Baltimore coach Brian Billick would be interested to returning to the sideline if the right job opened. However, it is not clear if Oakland would have interest.
The bottom line is, these report are indications that Oakland’s 14-day search may be winding down.

Lopez, Mark wants a new stadium “yesterday”; and I want a new Lear Jet today. The question is, based on what?
Unfortunately, Mark demonstrated in that press conference an conscionable lack of business acumen and has probably never heard of the second rule of acqusition, namely:
“Value seeks its own level.”
1) The Raiders have lost 20 of their last 29 seasons since they last won the Superbowl in 1983, in LA.
2) According to Forbes Magazine Raiders are 31st in overall value and revenue earning ability of all teams in the NFL.
3) This Raiders haven’t come close to selling out home games in any single season recently, except for this year when they purchased their own tickets.
4) Therefore, the Raiders lack leverage, in the form of value and hard cash, to go anywhere, except stay in their current facility. (Would you build a $1.5B dollar stadium for them based on the past 29 season losing history? extremely doubtful!)
5) The Raiders have to bring several AFC championships and a SuperBowl, including a real movement toward establishment of a dynasty. (Anything else is a waste of time discussing.)
6) Brand new $1.6B stadiums don’t grow on trees and are not subject to losers.
7) Mark has made his 1st public mistake asking for a stadium, and has embarrassed himself and the club.
Thank God AL is dead.
9) I hope you now have the wisdom to understand your postings are ridiculous.
Please enough of your postings about this nonsense already !!!

I will say this one time, and one time only. A man cannot be a real man when his wife has more power than him. And this same truth applies to Al Davis. There was no way any coach could truly be successful with him having so much power. But the Raiders are past rock bottom, and now the only way to go is up. The choice for a defensive minded coach by Reggie is the first step in the right direction because even the lowest, and most ignorant of Raider fans knows our defense is the first place that needs to be addressed. Now, to the coordinator positions.

The Cardinals were just as bad as us, with some horrible attendance records, and they built a top 3 stadium on the outskirts of town.
Got a quasi-municipality to get some municipal financing, and made it happen.
January 24th, 2012 at 12:51 pm
I know what many of you may be thinking when you read the “mystery” candidate?
My sources says it is Mark Davis!
He is currently putting together a short list of “loyal” potential coordinators of Herrera, Bres, Art Shell, Tom Walsh…
IT COULD ALWAYS BE WORSE!

I hope he is a better head coach than he is a defensive coordinator. He only ended up like 24th in defensive rankings meaning that 2/3rds of the defensive coordinators did a better job than him.

Chubby Checkers = Reggie McKenzie
Say what you want as that’s your individual opinion and we’re all entitled to that. However, Hue and our coaches had the benefits of working with our players, some one year and some two years. NOW, you can bring in anyone you want, with all the credentials, but they’re still starting from scratch. They have to learn what the players can do and what they can’t do.
You don’t fire a head-coach after one year, who was your offensive coordinator, who lost his star running back, the best in the league and some of his best receivers… and then boot him for a Dennis Allen or a whomever.
No, Chubby Checkers (aka: Reggie Mckenzie) screwed up and I for one, feel we screwed Hue and that we’re heading in the wrong direction.

Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie disputing reports that Dennis Allen has been offered the head coaching job, telling CSN Bay Area’s Paul Gutierrez that it’s “not a lock, irregardless of other people’s reports.”
McKenzie denies that he’s already in negotiations with Allen, as was reported earlier. Allen does have a chance to jump-start those negotiations in his second interview with McKenzie Tuesday night, and the fate of the other candidates hinges on those talks. “He could [lock it up],” McKenzie said. “Depends. He’s got a lot of stuff he needs to answer.”

Keep the RAiders IN Oakland
Privet All the California teams want to move into NEW stadiums, Mark Davis says he is working with Oakland but if a deal can’t get done in then he is willing to Move to Santa Clara or LA. 1 group headed by Magic Johnson & another by the LA Times & Espn LA are try’n to get an NFL team to LA. Right now LA Times & (espn la) are targeting the OAKLAND RAIDERS, The Good Thing is that both groups want some ownership & control. Oakland is in danger of losing all 3 Pro team by 2017: A’s, Warriors, & Raiders if they can’t get news stadiums. The Raiders are actually the team working hardest to stay in Oakland but have 2 solid back up plains. If you want the Raiders to stay vote No in LA times poll, contact Oakland city council & city hall let them know you want the Raiders to stay, & email the Raiders & let the know you want them in Oakland. Below is a link where you can see Coliseum city a plan for New Stadiums for the Oakland Teams as well as a convention center & mall. Paul G from CSN Bay area reporting that it’s between three candidates: Allen, Moss and a 3rd “mystery candidate.”
I remember when I was a kid Big John Studd and Ken Patera were slated to tag team wrestle Andre the Giant and a “Mystery Partner.” This was back in the mid-80s and local speculation was that the mystery wrestler was going to be Hulk Hogan, who was of course huge at the time.
Night of the event. Out comes Andre and his mystery parter is … Special Delivery Jones.
That’s kind of how I feel this Raiders coaching search is going. So don’t be surprised if S.D. Jones is the next head coach of the Oakland Raiders.
P.S. – That was the legendary “Haircut Match” at which Patera and Studd knocked Andre out after the match and shaved off his giant mop top in the center of the ring. People were horrified.

What do we need urgently more in the Draft¦ RG, DT, LT, CB?????? Don’t worry we will have picks come draft time
^^^^^^^
LB’s, a good NT, more LB’s and a big CB. Then a RT.
Find a true blocking FB and maybe another TE who is pass catcher and can cause mismatches.
I wanted to the Raiders to draft Henry Hyonski last year in Round 6 or 7 and he was there in Round 6.
I would have rather had Hyonski ahead of Richard Gordon.

Chris Simms is at the Senior Bowl looking to get into the coaching business.

DD,
seriously?
Wasn’t he just arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated with marijuana in New York last year?
WIKI = never wrong!

No joke.
I thought he was cleared in that case?

I just hope that the Raiders retain Al Saunders as the Offensive Coordinator. He knows the team and they know his offense. We need to keep going in the direction that we are going in there.

Could we trade the Flag Factory we have at CB for a 7th rounder? I dont think Routt would get us anything more than a 7th.

I hope Big Mac is scouting us some Milddle Linebackers! Slowlando is getting fatter by the minute!

Hopefully, but doubtful.
Chubby Checker is probably too busy scouting out some all-you-can-eat buffets in Mobile, Ala., this week.

I agree. If Allen or Moss or mystery guy wind up with the gig, than there is no point in switching to a new offensive terminology and bringing in a whole new offensive coaching staff.
Keep Saunders, Wylie, Wiz and even that Penguin looking RB coach Skipper.
I think Bones Fassel should stay also.
Allen and Bones can have a competition and see who can get bigger and stronger and gain the most weight first! LOL

Reggie should have the right to hire his own guy and his doing his due dilligance by interviewing so many canidates. I’m sure he is hearing alot of interesting perspectives on our team.
Regtgie came highly recomended by some well respected people. Way too early to bash the guy.

Reggie seems to be a deliberate man, from a deliberate organisation.

Hue was fired because Reggie wanted his guy, end of story.
I’ve been calling all a
Ong for. defensive HC, good news with that
AND
He is from our Division!! I live in Denver and I can Tell you this guys is a good, hard nosed, tough coach. He got the Donks defense to improve. Don’t look at the Stas as hey were horrible the first 7 games. When the went on that win streak they were holding opponents to 17 points on average. Also That offense with Teblow would punt the whole game so more Kudos to Dennis Allen!!!

They were using a hybrid of Jackson and Saunders. Most of the stuff came from Saunders. They only used about 50% of his playbook. He has one of the largest playbooks in the NFL. We need to keep this guy no matter what.

mystery guy could be Gruden? we still have hope.

I doubt if Chubby Checkers’ new headcoach will be running “fake punts” that go for 48 yards, or “fake field goals” that go for long gains. Most coaches don’t have the bzlls.
I’ll watch the new coaching staff and I’ll wish them sucess because I’m a Raiders’ fan first. However, I wish we still had Hue and I would have liked to see how sucessful he could have been. I also like Wisnewski and Woodson as first year coaches and I hate to see us lose both of them.
Ya, thanks Chubby Checkers, you freaking idiot.

“Defensive collapses against Buffalo, Denver and San Diego in the season finale helped keep the Raiders out of the playoffs.”
Don’t forget the defensive collapse against Detroit and the near collapse in Minnesota against a Peterson-less Vikings team.
