McClain to stand trial
By Steve Corkran
Wednesday, January 25th, 2012 at 6:41 pm in Oakland Raiders.
Raiders starting middle linebacker Rolando McClain was ordered to stand trial May 17 for allegedly punching a man, threatening to kill him and firing a pistol next to his ear.
Decatur, Ala., municipal court judge Bill Cook Jr. set the trial date for McClain, 22, and Jarodiaus Willingham, 23. McClain was charged with third-degree assault, menacing, reckless endangerment and discharging a firearm in the city limits.
His lawyer entered a not guilty plean on McClain’s behalf after McClain waived arraignment. His lawyer entered a not guilty plea Dec. 2. All the charges are misdemeanors under Alabama law.
McClain’s attorney, Billy C. Burney II, said McClain denies firing the gun and being involved in the fight. McClain was excused from practice at the time by then-coach Hue Jackson so that he could attend the funeral of his grandfather.
Jackson allowed McClain to play in that week’s game against the Miami Dolphins after speaking with McClain and coming away with the impression that his player wasn’t guilty of the things he was accused of doing.
McClain could not be reached for comment. When asked about the incident soon after it occurred, McClain said he didn’t have any comment.

There’s a handshake verbal contract. They are all at the Senior Bowl scouting talent. They’ll sign the paperwork as soon as that’s over. Hopefully they’ve called Al Saunders & told him he’s still employed as the OC. I’d hate to lose him & have to start the offense all over again.
Al Saunders is there with them.

I bet the people that are talking schit about McClain are the same people that talked schit about DMC and DHB after there second year. It sounds like the same schit. we are not going to cut McClain or trade him. How many of you would of traded DMC and DHB before there 3rd year? Yeah thats what I thought, most of you.
If you can’t learn from those two examples that you don’t give up on a top 10 pick until they have atleast played there 3rd season, well then I guess you will never learn.
With a new defensive minded headcoach that doesn’t take no schit, could do wonders for McClain and some of our other under performers.

McKenzie mentioned at his press conference that you can’t give up on young players.I doubt McLain is going anywhere. The one who better watch it is McFadden.Remember,in GB they had Grant who kept getting injured so they went and drafted Starks.
January 25th, 2012 at 7:51 pm
McClain needs a offseason with a legit NFL defensive mind, I am hoping Dennis Allen can do for McClain what Hue did for DMC and DHB.
January 25th, 2012 at 7:56 pm
Ebony, sub-moron McClain needs to get his contract rescinded by the Raiders for moral reasons, and sent back to queer-nation with a banana between his teeth for the ape/half-monkey that he is.
I hope he burns over his crimes. Hopefully he f around in Alabama from whence he came and get capped between the eyes while entertaining some ni.ga nonsense in ghetto.
January 25th, 2012 at 8:00 pm
Big deal: we were 8/8 under Hue as an OC then H/C. Of course the offense got a lift when JaMarcus was dismissed, with or without Hue or Cable. When McGlassToes finally decided he was going to run we received another boost, irregardless of Hue. The fact that Ford then Moore were drafted gave us a boost also.
We finally drafted some good O line components for which AL was responsible, and not Hue, finally giving us some sort of line.
Hue admitted when we lost to Buffalo he discovered the losing character of the team, and had neither the moxy nor intelligence to confront and manipulate a dying old man, whose face was full of running sores. (I wouldn’t have faulted Hue for applying a chokehold on AL, putting him to sleep early.)
Then Hue began making horrific mistakes in play calling, game management, clock management etc. which cost us games.
Worst yet, was Hue’s unwavering support for Jason Campbell who has neither the talent nor football moxy to lead us to the playoffs. After all JC’s bottom lip hangs down to his knees; he is an apt game manager but patently stupid. JC’s winning record derives mainly from the fact we played all bottom tier teams with him at the helm, that had losing records. That is nothing to shout about.
Hue’s most egregious negligent act was his hiring of Carson Palmer, which Hue claimed as the “greatest trade ever”: greatest trade for CP and Bengals on a washed up QB, injury prone, who gave up on his former team after earning $120M in 8 seasons. Palmer was no better than JC, was immobile, a statue in the pocket, couldn’t scramble and was completely non-elusive: thus high INT and fumble ratios, in failing to avoid the rush.
Palmer will never be better than he was this season. If CP still “has it” why did no other team pick him up?
As a result of the CP trade, Hue forewent the Raiders immediate future in draft picks and cash. Fact of the matter is Boller, if given a chance, and/or Pryor would have produced the same 8/8 figure.
Now then, Hue lied, exaggerated, misrepresented our chances in getting to the playoffs knowing full well that we wouldn’t make it: he admitted it in his loud press conference after the SD fiasco, then threw the entire team under the bus.
I for one believe we are well rid of Hue the Pimpin Magnificient. Fact is Hue is a bully: action cannot support his talk, cannot solve the trouble he himself created, runs like the yellow dog he is from trouble.
Of course, once he became ego-manical toward the end of the season, he sealed his own fate. So it is written.

The McClain fiasco doomed this team and Hue. It was exactly Hue’s mismanagement of this situation that caused the late season meltdown, a coin flip away from losing five straight.
It is really amazing how one moron knucklehead thug can spoil 50 other professionals. I can’t believe it happened, but we all saw the photo with the stupid grin, and how Hue failed to do anything about it, and just swept it under the back door rug.
Hopefully the league does the Raiders a favor and suspends this loser for a considerable amount of time.
Dump the moron RegMac. Get this team straight.
Obviously the Raiders biggest need is clearing out the garbage. I personally don’t care how long it takes to get the Raiders to get to a championship, as long as I can see the team is heading in the right direction.
Hopefully, RegMac and his guy Allen can get it done, they’d better.

Al Davis thought his Wallet could make this defense great!
D Allen is a teacher, no-nonsense, Violent Defensive Coach!
McClain, Routt, Houston, Branch, will all improve dramatically after Allen slaps them around!
ReggieMac will be get soem undrafted free agents and second tier gems to fill in the gaps.
Seymour or Kelly will be cut so we can allocate some of that money to another Corner and LB.
It’s going to feel great once we have a Defense that will stop people.
We have allowed the most run yards in The NFL since our SB appearance, last year we gave up 2000 yards rushing and over 4000 in passing. D-Allen is going to look like a miracle worker.
I bet we end up next year a top 10-15 defense in yards and points allowed!!
Thanks mark Davis for hiring reggie and thanks ReggieMac for bringing in a Defensive HC!!
Our “culture” is finally changing!

January 25th, 2012 at 9:04 pm
wondering about how Palmer thinks about all this.. He’s elite when he wants to be but has alot of tread on the tires. He’s also tradeable at this point, next year not so much. Maybe a high 2nd rounder this year and conditional in 2013. Would love to see Pryor get a chance. Kid’s got talent and he’s smart – hopefully Saunders took him under his wing a bit this year..
January 25th, 2012 at 9:07 pm
One big loss when JC went down is the scramble for 1st downs on 3rd and medium, Pryor brings that and more.. With D’Allen seeing what was successful with Teblow it might work. Watching college highlights Pryor has a better arm and accuracy and a great work ethic. Just sayin..
January 25th, 2012 at 9:07 pm
The HC isn’t going to run the defense. His coordinator will.He may want a certain system, but the DC will run it.That is what Maddens interview points out.
January 25th, 2012 at 9:08 pm
Interesting to think Saunders coming back – really one of the best OC’s available out there and if they can trade Palmer and get JC back for a reasonable amount – let him and Pryor compete and spend the draft picks on defense.
January 25th, 2012 at 9:09 pm
I always listen to Madden Football on Sirius, every Wednesday at Noon.
Everyone has said this was the best direction for The Raiders.
Even though there has only been 2 SB winning QB’s since 1993 that have NOT been all world QB’s, Ravens in 2001 and TB in 2003, your defense has to be good to give you a shot.
January 25th, 2012 at 9:12 pm
DMAC will be a beast next year – he’s in a contract year – and the oline is very good even as is – get a vet WR (not Vince pls) to be the possession wr with this oline, speed on the outside, and running game we have a solid offense. D has talent, no heart, D’Allen can fix that. The division is weak – we could easily win it with the 3rd place schedule.
January 25th, 2012 at 9:12 pm
He might have also seen how easy it was to stop that offense.I can’t understand how people haven’t seen Pryor play at all at the NFL level and want to turn the keys to the franchise over to him.I’d like to see him get an off-season of work plus at least one preseason under his belt before he is even considered the backup.
January 25th, 2012 at 9:13 pm
Palmer must STAY,imo!
January 25th, 2012 at 9:15 pm
You heard it from the old mot first.
McClain will use a “I was under so much pressure and distress because of my grandma just died.” defense.
January 25th, 2012 at 9:16 pm
* Denver – stuck with Tebow, defense takes a step back
* Chargers – still dangerous but aging and the team has given up on Turner – sans Rivers maybe
* KC – Romeo is a paper tiger, they have serious problems with personnel starting w/Cassel, Bowe and that D.
2012 should be our year. Getting a strict D oriented HC is exactly what we needed. McKenzie doesn’t come off in interviews but I think we are going in the right direction with these hires.

Campbell is gone.Palmer will be the QB next year.It was funny.I was listening to the radio this morning and they were discussing available QBs this off-season and Campbell wasn’t even mentioned as someone who could go somewhere and lead his team to the play-offs.Remember,the Rat got a 4th from the old man and nobody else wanted him.Think of an inferior Alex Smith.

January 25th, 2012 at 9:23 pm

January 25th, 2012 at 9:24 pm
Or.. keep the team intact sans drafting nothing but LB’s and Dline in the draft and make a run with what we have. Bottom line, if DMAC, Ford, Reece and Moore don’t all go down at the same time at the tail end, we win the division easily and get that Steelers win at home with a chance at redemption in NE. Niners suck btw!
January 25th, 2012 at 9:25 pm
But.. with our age and the connection with Palmer and Hue gone, and the ‘new age’ as GM puts it – makes sense to start with the probable hiesman 3rd runner up this year – Pryor.

Front 7 is a joke IMO. Combo of players and coaching.
We need to spend every pick we can come up with to draft Defensive players…

Hue sold us out w/Palmer and to be honest he was average at best. I go to all the games and I don’t see a guy at this point in his career to build a team around. Pryor – his is admittedly a mystery of sorts at this point – has serious potential. He has better than Cam upside…

why is everyone so down on Pryor – this blog and others.. Cuz what McShay (that POS) said??? Look at his stats, this guy is solid – not a pocket passer at this point – but you’re going to just discount this dude? No way.

I am high on Pryor…IMO once he gets his shot he will do well…

We need athleticism at the QB position – with Palmer we don’t have it. He has an awesome arm when setting up with a clean pocket but that’s no longer the reality in this league. I say trade him now, sign JC, and get some help on D. We’ll see how it goes…
January 25th, 2012 at 9:32 pm
Who is down on Pryor?I’d just like to see him preform at this level before handing him the keys. Why do you have a problem with starting a proven very good to elite QB and letting Pryor sit and learn for a few years like Rodgers did in GB?
January 25th, 2012 at 9:33 pm
When it is all said and done, the NATION is going to surprised by Pryor…
January 25th, 2012 at 9:35 pm
Big picture, D’Allen needs to build on Hue/Cable started and I think he will – looking at the QB draft unless you’re in the top 25 there’s nothing there and we have a guy who would have gone top 10 had he not sold his jerseys for a frikin tatoo. Cam stole laptops and sold them and he’s a frikin rookie of the year. Really? Having this guy for what we paid is an opportunity.
January 25th, 2012 at 9:35 pm
CDE-It seems both the QBs in the SB fit the ‘no longer the reality in this league’ mold.

The HC isn’t going to run the defense. His coordinator will.He may want a certain system, but the DC will run it.That is what Maddens interview points out.
**********************
Exactly. This also goes for Hue as it applied to offense. Hue should have let Saunders call the plays so he could be the HC instead of the OC that he actually was. If he was acting as the HC, he would have had more time to stay on top of Bresnahan’s a$$. Like Madden says, the HC needs to act like the HC and let the coordinators do their own jobs. Hue acted like the OC and that’s one main reason he’s no longer here.

This is actually the best situation for Pryor, and the Raiders, short term and long term.
He can sponge off Palmer until he is ready…

Everyone is. This kid is probably the most scrutinized and ignored elite college QB in the last decade. I promise you if he had been thrown in there against KC instead on Boller/Palmer and then again against Den (both blowoff losses) and had played the rest of the year (we would have missed the playoffs anyway) we would be so much better off with our 1st round and 2nd round next year. Surely firing Hue was part of that…

Need to move Wimbley to the RDE spot full time and coach him to be terror and do what he does best and that is get to the qb and cause disruption in the backfield.
Move Houston to the UT/3TECH DT spot and Shauny is going to be plugged in at his LDE and he will hold that down. Seymour and Kelly ran rotate at the other DT spot.
However this team needs to add another young BEAST DT, who can eventually replace Kelly and Seymour. I also like D Bryant to stick around and play more RDE on run downs and play inside and from time to time as a backup.
The key is the Raiders adding LEGIT LB’s this year. Preferably two vets and add two rookies to develop.
Also need to add a vet CB who can start and add a young safety.

Can Pryor be the guy to take us the SB? I don’t know that. But what I do know is Palmer doesn’t have it anymore and he cost us big time and if we can get even one of those draft picks back – and give a young, winning, potentially game changing QB a chance.. you have to take that.

DKnight – like where you’re heads at. Let me throw this..
Curry at MLB. Wembley at weak. Pick up a vet or stud vet or rook at strong. McClain is a backup at best. I was skeptical of Curry but watching him live he’s the only dude with passion who can hit and something to prove, he’s the guy we need in the middle.

Shauny is going to ball out this year. Losing him was huge and it showed. Put Houston inside where he belongs in rotation with the ‘old men’ who need help. Draft looks like ILB, DE, Safety, OLB, Dline…
January 25th, 2012 at 9:58 pm
CDE #114,
My thoughts exactly CDE. Except, Raiders using Pryor after JC went down would still be 8/8. Had JC not gone down Raiders would still be 8/8.

AD – yup – and now here we sit with no 1st and no 2nd (maybe a 1st) in ‘13. McKenzie has his work cut out – D’Allen is a great start – but the kid better learn some swag… nah wat I maeannn

McClain fits right into certain sterotypes and will be the cause of his own demise for engaging in nig.ar nonsense. But it is all on him.
JaMarcus was the same way. Couldn’t even speak standard English, but instead substituted ghetto slang was lazy and fat and enjoyed purple drank more than lasting fame and fortune.
Because these boys don’t grown up with a daddy to whip their azz’s for bad behavior, they feel entitled as high-profile college athletes.
Then it all goes away, and rather quickly at that, and they wonder why? Look at TO who earned $80M during his career and is now dead broke and in arrears for $500k to his babies mamas: 4 kids by 4 different women, all as big as refrigerators.
Also, under the 1st Amendment and freedom of speech in an open and public forum such as this content of an individual’s speech is protected unless same person advocates illegality or such speech instigates “a clear and present danger” of violent behavior.
A person’s thoughts and speech are his own. Thank God for the U.S. Constitution.
January 25th, 2012 at 10:10 pm
CDE, I know we no picks but at least Hue was dismissed. Also, hopefully, McClain will be in prison and gone from the scene.
January 25th, 2012 at 11:50 pm
Save some salary cap room
Dump McClain now. He hasn’t gotten any better in 2 years and he won’t The only thing he does somewhat well is cover downfield. He constantly picks the wrong gap. He has no clue how to take on a lineman
