McClain to stand trial

By Steve Corkran
Wednesday, January 25th, 2012 at 6:41 pm in Oakland Raiders.

Raiders starting middle linebacker Rolando McClain was ordered to stand trial May 17 for allegedly punching a man, threatening to kill him and firing a pistol next to his ear.
Decatur, Ala., municipal court judge Bill Cook Jr. set the trial date for McClain, 22, and Jarodiaus Willingham, 23. McClain was charged with third-degree assault, menacing, reckless endangerment and discharging a firearm in the city limits.
His lawyer entered a not guilty plean on McClain’s behalf after McClain waived arraignment. His lawyer entered a not guilty plea Dec. 2. All the charges are misdemeanors under Alabama law.
McClain’s attorney, Billy C. Burney II, said McClain denies firing the gun and being involved in the fight. McClain was excused from practice at the time by then-coach Hue Jackson so that he could attend the funeral of his grandfather.
Jackson allowed McClain to play in that week’s game against the Miami Dolphins after speaking with McClain and coming away with the impression that his player wasn’t guilty of the things he was accused of doing.
McClain could not be reached for comment. When asked about the incident soon after it occurred, McClain said he didn’t have any comment.

I hope McLain goes to jail.

Before he kills somebody, or he gets kills.

  • zopi

The McClain fiasco doomed this team and Hue. It was exactly Hue’s mismanagement of this situation that caused the late season meltdown, a coin flip away from losing five straight.
It is really amazing how one moron knucklehead thug can spoil 50 other professionals. I can’t believe it happened, but we all saw the photo with the stupid grin, and how Hue failed to do anything about it, and just swept it under the back door rug.
Hopefully the league does the Raiders a favor and suspends this loser for a considerable amount of time.

Dump the moron RegMac. Get this team straight.

Obviously the Raiders biggest need is clearing out the garbage. I personally don’t care how long it takes to get the Raiders to get to a championship, as long as I can see the team is heading in the right direction.
Hopefully, RegMac and his guy Allen can get it done, they’d better.

McClain needs to spend the the sumer with Ray Lewis and learn what the game is all about.

Usually this board is ok about racism. We get occasional morons like tweedy but, you know what, it’s a free country, and even as offensive as some of that sh*t can be, they are constitutionally protected. Ironic, I know. Racism is just a indicator of a small mind.

  • SharkCatcher

McClain is going to be a beast and he’s going to do it as a Raider..you don’t like it..? Go root for the 9ers…….easy e…easy e can eat a big fat …. ( and so can you)

  • No Mas Diamante

I too believe McLain will be okay. He needs to be quicker tho. Is that even possible for him?

I don’t think anyone is fine with it unless they agree with it.Still,it has no place on an Oakland Raider blog or anywhere for that matter.

What I meant is that it’s never really an issue from what I read. Only a few real racists here. If you’re a a racist then you shoulnd’t be watching football.

Ray Lewis would make McClain his B for sure.

  • CDERaider

Does this mean we can cut him?

especially an oakland raiders blog, have to wonder if some of those fools ever been to a game..

  • Raiders for life

I guess at this point we can only hope that Reggie’s evaluation of talent is as good as advertised. Ultimately Romac’s fate as a Raider are in the GM’s hands.

There’s a handshake verbal contract. They are all at the Senior Bowl scouting talent. They’ll sign the paperwork as soon as that’s over. Hopefully they’ve called Al Saunders & told him he’s still employed as the OC. I’d hate to lose him & have to start the offense all over again

    ^^^^^^^
Starting the offense all over again, would not be a wise move IMO.

Been to lots of games. The kid’s heart is just not in it. Hope he gets some religion soon.

  • Raiders for life

Naw, he just needs 3 cleats, 2 on his feet and 1 in his azz.

  • lefty12

If McClain’s heart isn’t in it,he won’t last long with this new GM and coach.

  • MiamiRaider78

Maddens last bit about coordinators being promoted to head coaches but still playing the roll of a coordinator sounded like he was talking about that guy that was here before.

  • CDERaider

These are serious charges. Sure he has good representation and he won’t do any time but his bill will be big. Motivation? Hopefully D’Allen drops the gauntlet and he plays like he’s capable. Lose 20, get ripped and start being the monster that he was.

  • DKnight007

McK and Allen need add at least two vet LB’s that will push and teach McClain to be a better pro and compete against him and get on his azz when need be.

  • CDERaider

Same goes for most of the team, actually…

  • 303Raider

Al Davis thought his Wallet could make this defense great!

D Allen is a teacher, no-nonsense, Violent Defensive Coach!

McClain, Routt, Houston, Branch, will all improve dramatically after Allen slaps them around!

ReggieMac will be get soem undrafted free agents and second tier gems to fill in the gaps.

Seymour or Kelly will be cut so we can allocate some of that money to another Corner and LB.

It’s going to feel great once we have a Defense that will stop people.

We have allowed the most run yards in The NFL since our SB appearance, last year we gave up 2000 yards rushing and over 4000 in passing. D-Allen is going to look like a miracle worker.

I bet we end up next year a top 10-15 defense in yards and points allowed!!

Thanks mark Davis for hiring reggie and thanks ReggieMac for bringing in a Defensive HC!!

    Our “culture” is finally changing!

  • lefty12

Miami-the interview with Big John should be mandatory listening, especially for all the experts on here.

  • CDERaider

wondering about how Palmer thinks about all this.. He’s elite when he wants to be but has alot of tread on the tires. He’s also tradeable at this point, next year not so much. Maybe a high 2nd rounder this year and conditional in 2013. Would love to see Pryor get a chance. Kid’s got talent and he’s smart – hopefully Saunders took him under his wing a bit this year..

  • CDERaider

One big loss when JC went down is the scramble for 1st downs on 3rd and medium, Pryor brings that and more.. With D’Allen seeing what was successful with Teblow it might work. Watching college highlights Pryor has a better arm and accuracy and a great work ethic. Just sayin..

  • lefty12

The HC isn’t going to run the defense. His coordinator will.He may want a certain system, but the DC will run it.That is what Maddens interview points out.

  • CDERaider

Interesting to think Saunders coming back – really one of the best OC’s available out there and if they can trade Palmer and get JC back for a reasonable amount – let him and Pryor compete and spend the draft picks on defense.

  • 303Raider

I always listen to Madden Football on Sirius, every Wednesday at Noon.

Everyone has said this was the best direction for The Raiders.

Even though there has only been 2 SB winning QB’s since 1993 that have NOT been all world QB’s, Ravens in 2001 and TB in 2003, your defense has to be good to give you a shot.

  • CDERaider

DMAC will be a beast next year – he’s in a contract year – and the oline is very good even as is – get a vet WR (not Vince pls) to be the possession wr with this oline, speed on the outside, and running game we have a solid offense. D has talent, no heart, D’Allen can fix that. The division is weak – we could easily win it with the 3rd place schedule.

  • lefty12

He might have also seen how easy it was to stop that offense.I can’t understand how people haven’t seen Pryor play at all at the NFL level and want to turn the keys to the franchise over to him.I’d like to see him get an off-season of work plus at least one preseason under his belt before he is even considered the backup.

  • hendu

    Palmer must STAY,imo!

  • raidermot

You heard it from the old mot first.

McClain will use a “I was under so much pressure and distress because of my grandma just died.” defense.

  • CDERaider

    * Denver – stuck with Tebow, defense takes a step back
    * Chargers – still dangerous but aging and the team has given up on Turner – sans Rivers maybe
    * KC – Romeo is a paper tiger, they have serious problems with personnel starting w/Cassel, Bowe and that D.

2012 should be our year. Getting a strict D oriented HC is exactly what we needed. McKenzie doesn’t come off in interviews but I think we are going in the right direction with these hires.

If we stay 4-3 I want us to get a new mike. Mcclain is incapable of play the position. He is actually playing out of position as he is am ilb in a 3-4.

    ————————————————————————————————————–

Maybe Allen will get one of his guys to join him here. This could definitely happen:

    Jonathan Vilma

  • CDERaider

I read/heard all the stuff about Pryor but the proof is in the pudding – basically the guy is an elite athlete who has won big time at every level, works hard, has the ‘want to’, and has the deep ball. Just sayin..

  • lefty12

Campbell is gone.Palmer will be the QB next year.It was funny.I was listening to the radio this morning and they were discussing available QBs this off-season and Campbell wasn’t even mentioned as someone who could go somewhere and lead his team to the play-offs.Remember,the Rat got a 4th from the old man and nobody else wanted him.Think of an inferior Alex Smith.

  • hendu

    Hey CDE,get over it,Palmer is the QB,and SHOULD BE,period

  • hendu

CDE,are you Mystics cousin,brother,3rd cousin,Uncle?Carson Palmer is our qb

  • CDERaider

Or.. keep the team intact sans drafting nothing but LB’s and Dline in the draft and make a run with what we have. Bottom line, if DMAC, Ford, Reece and Moore don’t all go down at the same time at the tail end, we win the division easily and get that Steelers win at home with a chance at redemption in NE. Niners suck btw!

  • CDERaider

But.. with our age and the connection with Palmer and Hue gone, and the ‘new age’ as GM puts it – makes sense to start with the probable hiesman 3rd runner up this year – Pryor.

I am also intrigued by the prospect of Pryor. I would like to see him get a full training camp, and pre season games under his belt, depending on his progress would be good with him as the number 2.

Per him he knows Saunders War and Peace sized playbook…

Funny how some of the Semi’s say he won’t be a QB in the NFL without him ever playing a down yet…

  • CDERaider

why is everyone so down on Pryor – this blog and others.. Cuz what McShay (that POS) said??? Look at his stats, this guy is solid – not a pocket passer at this point – but you’re going to just discount this dude? No way.

  • Thec

drafting nothing but LB’s and Dline

    +++++++++

Front 7 is a joke IMO. Combo of players and coaching.

We need to spend every pick we can come up with to draft Defensive players…

  • CDERaider

Hue sold us out w/Palmer and to be honest he was average at best. I go to all the games and I don’t see a guy at this point in his career to build a team around. Pryor – his is admittedly a mystery of sorts at this point – has serious potential. He has better than Cam upside…

  • CDERaider

We need athleticism at the QB position – with Palmer we don’t have it. He has an awesome arm when setting up with a clean pocket but that’s no longer the reality in this league. I say trade him now, sign JC, and get some help on D. We’ll see how it goes…

  • lefty12

Who is down on Pryor?I’d just like to see him preform at this level before handing him the keys. Why do you have a problem with starting a proven very good to elite QB and letting Pryor sit and learn for a few years like Rodgers did in GB?

  • Thec

When it is all said and done, the NATION is going to surprised by Pryor…

  • CDERaider

Big picture, D’Allen needs to build on Hue/Cable started and I think he will – looking at the QB draft unless you’re in the top 25 there’s nothing there and we have a guy who would have gone top 10 had he not sold his jerseys for a frikin tatoo. Cam stole laptops and sold them and he’s a frikin rookie of the year. Really? Having this guy for what we paid is an opportunity.
