ou can get TE’s who are just as good if not better than Boss, in the 2nd-4th round range, pay them around 1 million a year and have more cap flexibility.
    ******************
With all due respect to you, guys like Finely, Gronk, Hernandez and Graham are rare talents at the TE position.

  • Carl Weathers

There are guys making waaay too much money all over the roster. Do you really think Reggie will spend one of the few draft picks on a TE when it’s not a real position of need?

    Here’s his contract:

    8/5/2011: Signed a four-year, $16 million contract. The deal contains $8 million guaranteed, including a $3 million signing bonus. 2012: $2 million, 2013: $3.5 million, 2014: $4.5 million, 2015: Free Agent

  • bcz24

The free agent pool at TE outside of Finely (who will be staying in GB) and Fred Davis (likely to be resigned in Was) includes no players that would be an upgrade for us…

  • bcz24

Boss at $2 million is very fair.

  • bcz24

The free agent Tackle pool likes awfully weak too. IMO Demetrius Bell is the best FA tackle out there this year.

Yeah, that is a deal we can live with, at least for next year.

  • bcz24

The FA guard pool looks much better.

    lol. It’s comical, really.

When Davis started having problems with Kiffin, Davis’s loyalists credited Kiffin’s few wins early on that season to Tom Cable’s offensive line.

When Cable fell out with Al, Davis’s loyalists credited Hue Jackson with the improvement to 8-8.

When Hue Jackson ruffled their feathers by taking control of a rudderless ship, they credited Al Saunders with Hue’s success.

I’m guessing as soon as Saunders angers them with a west coast passing attack and 11 wins, they’ll credit one of his assistants.

I am sure all the credit will go to Herrera, for making sure things remain running “Al’s Way”, despite the new coaching staff, GM etc.

  • bcz24

Curtis Lofton would be a HUGE upgrade over ROMAC at MLB. I would also like to look at Chris Gocong. He is a beast at Sam in the running game (anybody watch when he stuck Mendenhall at the goalline 3 times in a row). Signing him could move Wimbley full time to DE maybe. I would also like to look at Gary Guyton from NE, he is a very solid LB and wouldnt cost much

    McKenzie’s Overpaid Cut Target List

    1. Routt
    2. McClain
    3. Seymour
    4. Wimbley
    5. Huff

  • djohnnyg

John Herrera is an accomplished martial artist and would have easily disposed of Kawakami.

  • http://www.raiderettes.com Sullivan44

Moral of the story, Davis fans will never give the head coach the credit.

Then why was herrera shaking in that video, johnny? He couldn’t even talk.

Not saying all 5 have to go, just one or two to make a point to the remaining slackers. I would like it to be Seymour and McClain personally.

So, you have to wonder if the criticism of Hue Jackson is part of this mentality, blame the head coach for everything, give the head coach no credit, etc. Got to take it with a grain of salt. Same people in here that are critical of Hue will turn on Allen midway into this season. McKenzie too. Mark, even.

Watching non-stop re-runs of the Karate Kid Part II and American Ninja in his office between issuing disinformation does not qualify one as a martial artist.

Could be, but how you know Kawakami isn’t one too? My guess would be what he told Herrera that he would love to own a part of this org if he got punched…but, still!

Packers already had Jermichal Finley at TE, and they drafted 3, count them 3, TE’s in last years draft.

Finnegan, Brent Grimes, Eric Wright, Rashean Mathis, Brandon Carr, Carlos Rogers should be on our CB watch list. Im sure a few will be too pricey, or stay with their current teams, but there is a nice pool of CB talent available.

I would also love to sign Tom Zbikowski at safety for depth and his special teams play. Laron Landry would be a nice pick up, maybe cheap too because of his injury this year.

I only see 2, in the 5th & 7th rounds. Finley was coming off a serious injury so they weren’t certain he’d be healthy.

  • bcz24

Wonder if Le’ron McClain gets resigned in KC. I would love to bring him our way. He is Romacs cousin, maybe he could whip his ass into shape too.

  • weaselbit

Glad to hear some moderation is coming.

    Tweedy definitely has to go.

I played ball in HS and AZFL.
    Wrestled in college.

    Never saw any racism.

It has no place in sports, or sports discussion. Unless it’s an actual topic like the Jimmy the Greek implosion years ago.

Couldn’t believe how racist some of these f@ks were getting. New names. Mostly Tweedy.

Most of us ignored him. You know he just wants a reaction.

What really surprised me was who was agreeing with him. Some Names who’ve been in here awhile.

Anyway, Dmac’s never played a full season and you always have to keep someone expensive who can step in. (Bush)
So cut the cord and get some durable RB’s. they’re out there. You got a line that opens holes and you can just plug a big RB in. already got a good FB.

Remeber Van Egan and Hubbard? Damn that was fun. And they were durable.

And get a second receiving tight end. There’s more out there, since colleges have integrated the receiving gigantic tight end into their offenses. it’s working well for NE.

  • RaiderRockstar

Boss was criminally underutilized by Hue.

Won’t exactly shed tears if he’s not back, but there are worse contracts on the roster.

Keep McClain. He’s only 22 and has never had a real DC that he’s had to answer to. Needs to step up but too young to give up on.

Keep Seymour and get rid of TK. Seymour knows how to win. 8-8 both years as a Raider. 3 SB Rings and a leadership attitude. TK is an offsides machine and we are always abysmal against the run with him.

Wimbley: Move to DE and get after the qb

Routt: Bye Bye or restructure. Not a playmaker. Ever

Huff: Also bye bye. Not a play maker but if he restructures could provide some depth.

  • J Hill

-TE (need a solid TE that doesn’t make $5 million a year)

    ——————————————————

You’re trying to phugg with me this morning, aren’t you?!?!

    Cut Boss.

    Move Reece to TE.

    Gordon is a BEAST!

    Meyers is solid/reliable.

    Ausberry back to WR.

  • weaselbit

Gigantic leaping tight ends with huge freaking hands. They’re cheap.
There’s plenty of them in the draft.
Hell, as long as they’re airborne when they catch it, they can’t get hit till they get their footing.
Can’t be smacking a defenseless receiver.
DB’s get hurt trying to hit them once they land.
    It’s just physics.
    Big vs small.
Seams and shallow crossing patterns all day.
Teams that do it are killing people.

  • J Hill

Tyvon Branch may have played his last down as a Raider.

HE might be your cap casualty.

  • Forrest Hump

    135.

We have several people we should let get away before we let Branch get away. I say let Bush walk and franchise Branch if we have to. He’s about the only guy on our D that could start for a lot of other teams.

  • weaselbit

    132.
You makes some good points about Seymour.

This thing with McClain in Alabama.
The face punch I can understand. But what kind of person fires a gun next to someone’s head just to mess w him?
Maybe he’s salvagable. Got a bad feeling though.

  • weaselbit

    Reese at TE?
    I like that.

    ———————————

I wouldn’t mind anyone on this list. I would love Finnegan, i love his swagger and physical play. He get’s into the head of WR’s, ie..Andre Johnson and takes them out of their game.

Restructure Routt and let him be the #2 CB and let the young guys develope. Everyone has their man that they dislike, Mine is Routt. He irritates the hell out of me but has gotten better. The stupid penalties he commits gets me going. Always holding, grabbing beyond 5 yds. What was it like 17 penalties on him alone? Geesh!

  • Ryan

I think it’s going to take us some time to get rid of the dead weight. It took ten long crappy years to get the contracts typed up, it’s going to take at least three years to get rid of some of them.

  • Macho Man Randy Savage

wow. what happened? who went ballistic? why the reminder to keep it clean?

Forget about restructuring Routt. Set an example and cut him. Give Mclain very little room, he continues being a spoiled brat, cut his ax!

  • Forrest Hump

    Weasel

On the McClain front I have some concerns as well but a couple things stand out.

    A. They never found a weapon. Doesnt mean it didnt happen, but gonna be pretty hard to get a conviction without a weapon.

    B. That picture of McClain. Some see it as the arrogance of a rich guy. I see it as a guy who is so amused at being charged for something he didnt do that he finds it hilarious. At least thats my hope.

  • Macho Man Randy Savage

McClain is not as advertized. That damnned Saban said he was the smartest player he ever coached…Truth be told, the kid is not high on effort and is miles away from reading plays fast enough to make up for his lack of speed.

  • DEATHROW 55

I say we keep Kelly he is a true raider he is top 8 dts and cutting him really would hurt us than not. We need depth so if we can get some rotation guys we will be better off . We already paid him all the big $ so hes not that exp. If McClain was a decent lb and could hold down the second level we wouldn’t be pointing fingers at seymore and Kelly.
