Reminder to keep comments respectful

Some recent comments on this site crossed the line and were downright offensive. This is your forum to converse on all things Raiders. It’s a privilege, not a right. Keep it clean, respectful and within the bounds and things roll along without further moderation.
If things get out of hand, comments will be deleted, posters will be blocked and much-stricter controls will be put in place.
For the most part, you do an admirable job abiding by the groundrules and making this site the most viewed and popular around. Let’s keep it that way.
As always, feel free to contact myself or Jon Becker if you notice something that needs to be addressed.

you can’t label a guy like McClain a bust when he’s playing out of position.

To think an ILB in a 3-4 is the same as a 4-3 ILB is silly.

    ***

    Alex,

Dennis Allen will run a 4-3 Defense in Oakland, so what is your suggestion?

    dump the guy? trade him?

  • alex7

Teams often mix 3-4 looks with 4-3 and 2-4-5 looks depending on down and distance.

The Raiders don’t, because they’ve only been allowed to do 4-3 for the last 2 decades.

    Will be a nice change.

  • RaidingTexas – 1OAKLANDRAIDERS1 Champion

Wow, what the heck happened around here to warrant this post?

  • RaiderRockstar

    Sully,

    talking about base defense?

    Saints = 4-3

    Packers = 3-4

    not exclusively, of course

The Patriots have switched to a 4-3 as their base D this year.

We’re a .500 team with Seymour the last 2 years. Go back and look at what our record is with TK and tell me which one we should keep again. And yes TK has a big price tag as a result of the deal he got 4-5 years ago that was the biggest ever for a DLineman at the time.

    @@@@@@@@@

Look at our offense for those years and compare. One dog goes this way, the other dog goes the other way…

The Giants run the old fashioned out of date Al Davis style of defense where they rush 4 and do not blitz very often they expect their front 4 to get pressure. they plan man and zone in the secondary not much difference between what they and what we did when Al Davis ran the defense.

I don’t want any more “on the job training” guys attempting to develop Rolando McClain. He requires the best in the business and even that may not be good enough to save him from BUST status…

got a name for you. One of the all time overachievers…current inside LB coach for Texas A&M…Dat Nguyen. Coached Vonn Miller. Assistant LB coach for Wade Phillips in Dallas for 2 yrs. Played with Allen in 1995 at A&M. They just changed the coaching regime down there and I would love to see Allen bring him in.

The difference is that the Giants execute it well and they have a great front 4 probably the best in the league. They also tackle well and are well disciplined enough to handle gap assignments.

True but only difference is Coughlin is a disciplinarian and does not institute a scholarship program like AD did. Most of our guys would never be on his roster.

For a multi billion dollar business, they got some of the worst mug shots of their coaches. You’d think they can pay $50 for a decent photo shoot.

    205. Ok I’ll bite. How bout quotes from our own guys when Seymour came aboard. Even Nnamdi said he felt the need to pick his game up when Seymour came aboard. Have you ever heard ANY player say anything complimentary about TK? No. All other things being equal I’ll take the guy with SB rings.

  • hwnrdr

So I guess we have to wait til Monday to maybe find out who is assistants are gonna be?

Agreed. They shape up or get shipped out!

  • http://www.raiderettes.com Sullivan44

Would you guys quit it with Mark’s haircut? Bizarre hair cuts do run in the family. Al had a pompadour in the ’90s, when he still had hair. He was the only notable figure with a pompadour since Grease wrapped up production.

  • http://www.raiderettes.com Sullivan44

Al had that disco duck hairdo a little late in the ’80s, too.

  • Dhidee99

do yall watch da games TK the best we got Seymore living off hype and to keep it real Seymore cost us some games acting like Rondo after a funeral but on da field

  • alex7

    RR

I’m not suggesting anything for McClain, simply stating that you shouldn’t label someone a bust when he is playing out-of-position.

  • The Big Banana

Dennis Allen has a long way to go before his haircut competes with Mark Davis’. You wanna talk about bad do’s, start there…

  • http://www.raiderettes.com Sullivan44

To demand no political speech is a political stance in and of itself. It’s to insist that the status quo is working just fine, and it perpetuates the fear of rattling it.

  • alex7

Both Seymour and Kelly will be gone by the beginning of our 2013 season.

Both part of constant bottom-5 run defenses. Old. Expensive.

It’s obvious and almost not worth talking about, being that everyone knows they’ll be replaced this or next year.

Seymour can at least be moved over to LDE and give us production this year.

Not true. Tolefson was a practice squader here who couldn’t crack the roster, and he is playing a heavy rotation in NY right now.

Now are burdening the site with content restrictions . Anyway it’s your right, The News Group being a corporation with the rights of an individual, not subject to Constitutional muster.

But, I told you once and I’ll tell you again: part of the reason posters become disrespectful is when you and Jerry Mac take too long between article entries.

Whenever you start to see 1000 comments under an article the line begins to get crossed. My analogy is when a dog is left on a chain in the hot sun without food or water, that dog will begin to raise he.l, barking, straining the chain, biting, etc.,etc.

I hope this comment is helpful to you.

Must be another slow football news day … Mark Davis hair?… Really .. Who cares ….

  • doriangray

  • Raider Joseph

I read this blog every day and usually don’t say much about the comments made, because I don’t really think some of you guys even watch the whole game or understand football. But someone wrote that we should cut Kelley because he ” jumps offsides”, it is Seymour who habitually jumps offsides (see Patriots and Packers games). TK is one of the better DT’s in the league, cutting him would be a huge mistake.
