Here were the Top 10 highest paid RB’s of 2011
1. Jamaal Charles
2. Adrian Peterson
3. Steven Jackson
4. Darren McFadden
5. Maurice Jones-Drew
6. Michael Turner
7. Frank Gore
8. Brandon Jacobs
9. Chris Johnson
10. Cedric Benson
***
Mav,
Charles missed the entire year. McFadden missed half the year
Benson, Peterson & MJD had rookie QB’s
the rest of those runners made the playoffs
Steven Jackson is the only guy I don’t have an excuse for, lol! … but he did carry the Rams to one game from clinching the NFC West last year with a rookie QB
^^^^^^^
All of those RB’s have been hurt on and off in their career except for Chris Johnson really.

I dont think Bones was anything special. He had Ford making him look good in the Kor game, and Hue’s aggressiveness with the play calling on STs again making him look good. Brian Billick had some good things to say on 95.7 today in regard to Knapp and how hes a ZBS and WC OC coming to coach where the star running back is better in a power scheme and the QB isn’t a rollout WC type of guy, He made it sound simple, he said if your coaching a RB thats better in a power scheme, well you better run more power scheme, If your QB is more of a pocket guy don’t make him rollout. simple, huh
OK, this is the part I hope he is right about. He also said Knapp is smart enough to know he has to play to the strength of his players. I hope Knapp has become smarter since the last time he was here and has learned some things, like don’t force the ZBS on DMC. Pretty simple right, lets hope so
=====================================
I posted this last night, now after doing more research and reading tweets from John Clayton, I am convinced Knapp will force his schemes on our players, To be honest he sounds like a guy who is to set in is ways, hes just not creative enough to think outside the box, with that said I expect big changes to come on offense, regarding personal and such, almost a complete overhaul. I myself strongly disagree if this is the route he takes, he needs to scheme to our players stengths, thats what good creative OCs do period.
=================
This is exactly what I am worried about. He seemed to try the exact same thing year after year despite having totally different QBs (he had Vick in Atlanta for god sakes and tried to make him a pocket passer only).

Palmer is experienced and good enough to adapt to Knapp;
Knapp is smart enough to have a few power running plays to adapt to DMac’s strengths;
Moore is talented enough and young to be trained in the west coast offense;
Ford is probably better suited for the west coast offense;
DHB’s game- button hooks are not a mainstay and are not suited for the west coast offense.
February 3rd, 2012 at 12:52 pm
New offensive coordinator Greg Knapp is expected to install a zone-blocking scheme in Oakland.
Darren McFadden never flourished under former coach Tom Cable’s zone-blocking scheme, only emerging once Hue Jackson molded the offense to his strengths. ESPN’s John Clayton suggests the Raiders will have to decide whether to re-sign free agent Michael Bush or trade McFadden this offseason. Knapp has been a decidedly run-heavy play-caller, though it’s odd that the Raiders are now installing an offense that won’t cater to the skills of its most dynamic player. Beat writer Steve Corkran suggested last week that McFadden could be dangled as a trade chip for new GM Reggie McKenzie.

Yep.
The hiring of ZBS hack Knapp, doesn’t make sense wit DMC. Bush is more of a ZBS runner than DMC.
If they McK dangles DMC as trade bait, he better get at LEAST a high 2nd Rounder and a 3rd and that’s IF some teamm does not want to give up their 1st and 3rd for him!

Interesting…
Commissioner Roger Goodell announced Friday that Thursday night NFL Network games will expand from eight to 13 in 2012.
NFL Network will carry Thursday night games from Week 2 to Week 15. Goodell also revealed that all 32 teams will be guaranteed at least one prime time game over the course of the season. As long as fantasy owners have access to the internet and/or Twitter, injury updates shouldn’t be a concern for early-season Thursday games.
February 3rd, 2012 at 1:03 pm
62. Reggie might even do something stupid like trade him in the Division thinking “Oh, we’ll weaken them by taking their picks and saddling them with injuries!”
Who ever McFaqdden goes to will use him right and he’ll rule for years.
Guaranteed, he plays 12-14 games a season he’ll domiante. Cannot stress enough what a tremendous talent DMC is. Injuries have been a abberation.

If you people want to trade a WR, then trade Murphy.
###################################################
Agreedwith this. And Maybe Ford as well. He was another guy who didn’t see the field much. Like to see us cut housh, who has nothing left, and sign a top notch veteran WR. Schillens can hang for one more year. we also need to develop our young TE’s. That was a problem area lat year because we had to keep them in to block so much.
********************
Schilens is a FA and will be gone. Murphy never returned to 100% after his injury. He still might bring a 6th round pick. Ford needs to stay. He’s our future PR & possible KOR in addition to his WR duties.
#1 WR – Open
#2 WR – Ford
#3 WR – D-WOW
#4 WR – DHB
#5 WR – TJones – From RB to run the slot
#6 WR – Ausberry – From TE
I’d like to see us get DeSean Jackson in FA as our #1 WR position. He’s a definite play-maker and wants out of Phi.
I’d also like to see us pick up Marshawn Lynch from FA. Bush who now makes $2M will be gone. Marshawn now makes $1M. We should be able to get him for $2-$2.5M per year.
#1 RB – DMac
#2 RB – Lynch
#3 RB/KOR – TJones
#4 RB/ST – Cartwright

The way things are situated pertaining to the cap, teams can technically never be over the cap by moving money to future years or signing bounuses and stuff like that. I tottaly agree with Jerry when a team cries about the cap they usually just don’t want to pay someone. “cap casualty” what a laugh.

Is Clayton operating with a crystal ball? He’s certainly not a coach. Where is he getting his info from?

83. DeSeans a Destraction. He wants a BIG contract and Philly, usually not known for such things face planted after breaking the bank last year.
DeSean may be Philly gone, but Oaklands not a great landing spot for a trouble maker. I like Schilens skillins but the injuries, oy vey…
Murphy? Agree with RNS early last season when they said he’d lost his edge.

February 3rd, 2012 at 1:23 pm
All of the outrage behind letting suanders go, and hiring knapp is down right laughable.
Why would a rookie coach and gm keep hold overs from a previous regime? Think of it, if we kept the old guard i tact and it flopped then we are left with the specter of starting over on offense in year two as opposed to everyone starting fresh together.
Who cares if dmac flounders in the zone scheme. No doubt he was one of my favorite college stars, and when healthy he is open of the best in the nfl, but when is he ever healthy? trading him makes perfect sense now, we already know what life is like without him. the running game will be fine, bush is very good in the zone scheme. If we keep dmac and he gets hurt again, his stock will drop off the face of the earth.
Palmer did not play well in the saunders hu jack system. He was thought to have the tools to do it, but he fell on his face. If he struggled to learn an offense that was made for him, what evidence is there that he will do well learning another offense that doesnt fit his so called skill set? As of march 6th (i think its the sixth) palmer will be the only qb on the roster that i would want to start in 2012. However he will only be a seat warming stop gap, until the new regime gets their guy.
Dmac’s health and palmers picks and lack of ability to run the wco mean they are now on the bubble. Dmac has a more immediate trade need as we have a capable guy waiting in the wings. Palmer may have to wait until 2013 before he gets unloaded. Big mack and allen can either keep him as a lame duck rental for a year or trade him now.
I would package them both and move into first round. Its far fetched but not impossible. Cleveland needs a rb and a qb, take palmer and dmac and give us rgIII.

Who ever McFaqdden goes to will use him right and he’ll rule for years.
Guaranteed, he plays 12-14 games a season he’ll domiante. Cannot stress enough what a tremendous talent DMC is. Injuries have been a abberation.
Amazed by writers who claim “His upright running style to blame.”
For foot and hammy injuries?
********************************************************
What’s funny is that he doesn’t run like that anymore.
I really think the national guys do more guessing and projecting based on the past than what’s actually happening with the team, which is why I take anything but an actual announcement with a grain of salt.
Think about it; whenever you read opinion or speculation from one of those guys about the Raiders it’s usually pretty off-base.
Multiply that by 32, and you get the idea.

I heard on the NFL network that the franchise tag for players could be reduced by as much as 25-30% from where it was at last year, something to do with the new CBA,

We don’t need another WR, that’s one of our best units!
We need a athletic TE and if we can get value for DMAC, trade him.
You don’t win the SB with a top running back anyways. Look at Ahmad Bradshaw, dude is playing with a Broken Foot. I would trade DMAC, sign M Lynch and bring in Bush at 3 million a year. No way we Franchise Tag him.
We need depth on the O Line..

Just want to touch on a few of your points-
To say Palmer did not play very well is not a true statement. He struggled the first few games but he got better and was respectable to say the least. Give him an offseason with his teammates and then judge. I am positive the interceptions will go down with a better report with the wideouts. You and I know both know that Palmer was not the reason we lost to Detroit and San Diego.
The trade DMAC talk is rediculous unless it is for a proven player. I am a big fan of Bush (hence the screen name) But let’s face it he is not a game breaker. Anytime DMAC touches the ball there is the possiblilty of it being a long range score. If you take away that threat it in no way helps us. Could he get injured next year again? It is possible, Considering the options it is well worth the risk.
I say give this team at least 1 year before going and blowing it up. There is enough offensive talent to warrant a longer look.

“I say trade DMAC if and only if you can get a first-rounder for him. Otherwise, he’s got too much upside.”
There is no way we can get a high pick for a guy who is considered to be injured right now. If it were the middle of the season and he was playing and showing teams he is not hurt then maybe yeah we could get a 1st or second round pick for him.
But as far as the other 31 teams are concerned he is still injured and has low value right now.

16 picks in 9 games is horrendous no matter how you slice it. Even his “getting better” as the season went on wasnt good enough. The only differnce I saw from the first game he played in for us and the last game was that the defense did palmer favors dropping sure picks. I would say he played poorly and the numbers bear me witness.
I agree with dmac having upside, but his back side is always on the bench injured. We dont need bush to be a game breaker, the wco is a pass first offense, and your wr group become the focal point. Just give me a guy that moves the chains and can answer the bell every week.
Dmac and palmer are not built for this new offense. i dont see how we can expect palmer to play better with an offseason, its a brand new offense.

As phenomenal a talent DMC is…he’s always had health issues to deal with. He hurt his toes and shoulders in college, but managed to put together a great college career playing hurt a lot.
Problem is…in 4-years, we’ve seen one truly solid superstar-like year put on the board (and it wasn’t over-the-top great). That’s not promising, and it isn’t what the Raiders drafted him for. DMC can have a 10-year career, and accumulate no more than 5,000-6,000 yards…while his team suffers every time he’s out. Risky with all RB’s…but DMC has a history.
If DMC’s feet are healthy enough to pass his physical, I once again throw my hat into the trade-him circle. He’s a great, but fragile, talent. Take a good deal for him if one can be found.

AL Davis was the ring leader of this crew: his genius was giving his players their lead, turning them loose, and in the end receiving the booty and spoils they won.
That was a time of genius, rebellion, and insurrection.
But then the world changed. The merger took place, the NFL was formed and teams became business-like. AL neglected his team and made more money suing the NFL, Pete Rossell, and the city of Oakland than he did winning football games. Meanwhile, the sport evolved economically, and AL was left behind; his style of management just didn’t work as football became a 12 month per year industry. The more he tried the more it eluded AL, until finally he sank into the oblivion of old age and dementia, and then became a laughing-stock.
The players (and staff) the Raiders now have, just don’t figure: the Raiders at their greatest were blue collar, working class players. There would have been no DMAC sitting out 9 games with a sprained foot or an aching toe. Teams would have never run right through the old Raiders. Most every game QB’s would fall and be out for the count. Causing concussions was a good thing back then. You would never see a JC, bottom lip hanging down to his knees, the Raiders settling for a “game manager”. It was attack, attack, attack.
Before the Raiders can transistion to dynasty they have to know who and what they are, players and staff. That may be no longer possible.

you are probably right, im thinking he will stick until 2013 because we dont have qb ready to go under contract. I also dont think his trade value is very high, and his salary stinks to high heaven for any potential suitors. The only way a team takes palmer is if we give them something else along with him. this is why i suggested packaging dmac and palmer
February 3rd, 2012 at 1:51 pm
I like Palmer but if we’re running the WCO and he’s not a WCO guy, then we need a qb who can run it. DMAC has MVP talent and I’d keep him even with his injury history, but if he’s not productive in a ZBS then he shouldn’t be a Raider. Flynn? Peyton? Lynch? Bush/TJ?

Some of the picks were no doubt Palmers fault. There were several that could easily been avoided had our wideout been a little more aggresive or finished running there routes.
Even though there will probaly be a new system in place next year my point is Carson has a lot more time to mesh with his receivers. (like Soup did in the offseason last year) That in itself should make a drastic difference. Palmer and DMAC are high risk high reward, and it’s not time to give up just yet.
Haven’t you waited long enough for a winning season? If we win it makes us more attractive to free agents in coming years, Perhaps even for market value and not over paying like we used to. I try to see the big picture, Unless there are some proven options out there that want to come to Oakland we are better off having the group we have grow and mature together.
Enough with the changes and build around this core.

Three finalists for KC’s OC; Al Saunders, Brian Daboll, Jim Zorn.
Cardinals likely to promote offensive assistant John McNulty to be their next QB coach.
Looks like Hue is still on the market…errr… unemployed.
The curious case of Hue Jackson
February, 3, 2012
Bill Williamson
What is going on with Hue Jackson?
Not much.
In one of the more surprising developments on the coaching carousel the past few weeks, the former Oakland Raiders’ coach is not getting much interest on the assistant-coaching circuit.
Jackson interviewed to be the offensive coordinator in St. Louis and he interviewed as quarterbacks coach in Arizona. He wasn’t hired. Jackson has been bypassed for interviews elsewhere. There are openings in Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay and perhaps Jackson will be in play there. Nothing has developed yet, though.
Further clouding the Jackson situation is the fact that his offensive coordinator in Oakland, Al Saunders, is a finalist for the Kansas City offensive coordinator job. This is no shot at Saunders, but something is going on here. Saunders is a fine coach who has a lot of experience and who is well respected around the league.
But it was Jackson’s offense in Oakland. Jackson called the plays. You’d think he’d get some interest before his lieutenant.
Perhaps Jackson will land somewhere, but for a coach who was unexpectedly fired, you’d think he’d already have a job. The Raiders were 8-8 in Jackson’s one season as a head coach and the offense made great strides under in him 2010 (when he was the coordinator) and in 2011. He was considered one of the bright, young offensive coaches in the league.
Now, he can’t get an assistant job.
Perhaps what helped get Jackson fired in Oakland is what is hurting him getting a new job. Jackson turned off folks with his attitude following the death of Al Davis in October. After the final game of the season, Jackson infamously chastised Oakland’s players and vowed to take on a bigger role in all aspects of the organization.
Perhaps perspective employees are hesitant to bring on personality like that. It’s too bad, because Jackson is a quality football coach who deserves to have a job by now.
February 3rd, 2012 at 2:09 pm

In analysing the value of DMAC consider the following:
Game 1 – Broncos: DMAC 150 yds rushing
Game 2 – Bills: DMAC 72 yds rushing
” 3 – Jets: ” 172 ” ”
” 4 – Pats ” 75 ” ”
” 5 – Texans ” 51 ” ”
” 6 – Browns ” 81 ” ”
Fact is, DMAC had a great games against the Broncos and the Jets. The Broncos were a team in total disarry both defensively and offensively, with a losing season carried over from the previous season. The Jets were suffering a melt-down and were no more than mediocre, with a defense that basically sucked.
The tier 1 teams with winning records, Pats, and the Texans, DMAC numbers were lower-average.
The Bills, were improving and had a vision, only to stifle DMAC at 72 yds, while the lowly, lowly Browns, serial losers, held DMAC to 81 yds.
After that DMAC was injured and out for the season.
My question is this: it seems DMAC ran right through 2 really bad teams at the time, Broncos and Jets, and was handled, and handled quite easily by the other teams. Excuse me if I am wrong, but where is the evidence of MVP talent, best runner in the league, only legitimate all-pro contender, etc., etc.
Personally I see DMAC as a better than average RB (but not great at all), who catches well, is stifled by tier 1 teams with winning records, and can’t get through more than a half season without being injured.
I say trade/cut him and in order to gain maximum value.

throwing over 300 yards is cool, but it didnt produce wins.
300 yards is nice but 16 picks is awful.
If you want to take away ints due to rust , you should then add dropped ints. ================================
throwing over 300 yards is cool, but it didnt produce wins.
300 yards is nice but 16 picks is awful.
If you want to take away ints due to rust , you should then add dropped ints. I dont think the last 3-4 games can be explained away with the stand bye excuse “fresh off the couch”. 9 games means he had his preseason and played in 5 regular season games. i still saw countless balls bouncing off defenders and that is a very bad omen.

All these lame excuses for Palmer make me want to vomit. The only reason the guy was sitting on his couch is because he quit on the team that made it possible for him to sock away “$80 million” in the bank. And they wanted to continue to give the guy $12 million per. Where’s the outrage?? And how long did he sit on the couch anyway? People act like the guy missed three years or something. Nobody in the NFL had minicamps or OTAs. And how much does the starting QB play in the preseason anyway? He missed 6 fckin games! Who the hell cares?? Capt Pick is a turnover machine, period.

hwnrdr, 118, HairyBush 121,
I remember one game in 1977 after the Raiders won the Superbowl. Headslaps against the QB by the defense were banned that year. Normally a defensive player, would break through the “O” line and slap the helmet of the QB. This would stun the QB leaving him vulnerable to the sack.
The Raiders were playing the Steelers and losing. Bradshaw was having a great game. In the 3rd quarter John Matsuzak made a spin move on a guard and got to Bradshaw with a head slap. A disoriented Bradshaw staggered for a second and Matsuzak fully body slammed him to the ground. Bradshaw didn’t move and in time was helped to the sidelines. Matsuzak was ejected from the game but the Raiders won, when the 2nd string QB entered the game and was repeatedly hit, knocked down and sacked by the great Raider D, including the safeties and CB’s too. Lester the Molestor got a few licks in as I remember. (for the record our former great “shutdown corner” Nnamdi Asomugha is and was a midget standing on the shoulders of giants).
I’ll never forget that one. It’s one wonder teams and opposing QB’s feared the Raiders, and bolted, like gun-shy dogs.

being completely honest what we had going from the offseason to through the first 5 games of the season was magic. we had a synergy and a vibe that brought my silver and black heart joy. That was a time when i thought we could compete with any team in the league. it was the best football i have sen her since 2002, and i liked it even better because it was REAL RAIDER FOOTBALL!!!
It was the much maligned davis, with his rag tag bunch of cast offs and so called draft gaffs, ( jc, dmac, dhb) and they were kicking ass!!! It was us against the world in true raider tradition.
Once davis passed the wheels came off and our carriage turned into a pumpkin. now we are rebuilding yet again.

The Raiders in 1976, year of their first Superbowl victory, were anything but business-like. That is what made the Raiders, the Raiders.
It was their swashbuckling, un-orthodox ways, killer hits by the D, bold risky plays by the O, the unconventional backgrounds and tactics of the greatest players in football whose greatest talent was winning football games and a never-say-die attitude.
Most in here are too young to remember those days, and so they get confused as to who and what the Raiders are.
And that is a shame.
==========================================
Yes, they were swashbuckling and unorthodox. And yes, that approach was very successful. In 1976. When Gerald Ford was in office and our current Commander in Chief was attending High School in Hawaii.
36 years later, we see an approach that has not worked for decades. It’s time for a new way of doing things.

Strongly disagree.
In fact, I’ll go as far as saying when DMAC is healthy, he’s an ELITE RB. The best all-around back in the NFL.
Superb combination of speed, power, hands and blocking ability. He’s a game changer.
The best player the Raids have – and it’s not even close.
There’s well deserved doubts about his durability, but there should be no doubts about his ability.
KEEP DMAC.

Smell the fear, people. Do you really think Tom Brady would have been allowed to tip toe through the tulips nice and clean behind his O line and rip the Raiders apart?? No! The 76 Raiders would have rudely dismantled him piece by piece, and put him in the hospital overnight.
Quit trying to match stats, was HueJack a gifted play caller or a pimp? blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. We have to figure what can we do to make Belichick sh.t his pants every time we come upon the field of play.

Heard a cool story from Madden on XM MadDog Radio today…
In 1975 Madden left 7 players at the hotel when the team went to the stadium for the Super Bowl vs the Vikings.
He said some guy dressed like a Raider mascot was outside the hotel bugging him and the players asking about the game, wanting autographs and stuff.
So he told the players to get on the bus and told the driver to go to get away from this guy. He didn’t realize it was 15 minutes early and not all the players were on the bus.
So some of the guys had to take a cab.
The Radio guy says, “Its hard to get a cab in Pasadena on Super Bowl Sunday even in ‘75. Did all the players make it on time?”
Madden says, “Yeah, the mascot guy that was bugging everybody ended up bringing 4 of them in his car.”
Just thought I would share…
February 3rd, 2012 at 3:21 pm
U guys are bugging. 1st hardly anyone trades in the NFL, this ain’t basketball or baseball. They wait for you to cut the guy or offer like a 5th round pick. Anybody getting Dmac would want assurance of a contract extension or deal or it’s one year and he’s a free agent, and nobody gives up a #1 for a one year player.
I am legitimately concerned about the coaching hires outside of the HC. Knapp, not impressed. West Coast offense, not impressed. ZBS not impressed, Letting OL coach Wylie go, not impressed, letting Off Coord Al Saunders go, not impressed. We should have given this offense a year with a healthy Dmac, a Carson Palmer with on offseason under his belt,

BTW I liked Campbell out if college, but I loved Palmer, yeah he throws some picks but he can make up for them with a good def as he usually comes back and gets a score a series or two later. He is a smart QB who believes he can throw better than you can defend. He throws into coverage but that also makes DBs pay attention to the whole field and not just fall off their coverage to converge on the shorter routes

I do. I think suanders comment was taken way out of context. He was complimenting palmer and it was completely independent of what he thinks of jc.
Jc knows the offense and was thriving in it. Saunders and jc would then only need to get to know the players and teammates. Jc has already proven that he can push the players around him and lead them to huge leaps in performance. he is a top notch leader, something they dont have in kc.
Sunders vertical offense is a terrible fit for cassel and orton, jc led our offense to awesome numbers in that system. You put him in the back field with jamal charles, and bowe on the outside, and suddenly that offense is what our offense was before jc went down
I think both would relish the chance to come together and beat the hell out of us, based on the way they were treated, especially jc
Kc is well aware of what jc can do after all jc owned them when he was here. Im sure they wont forget his incredible come from behind fourth quarter long balls to ford to set up the win.
I see this as a very strong yet nightmarish possibility, if saunders gets the gig.

Carson will get an opportunity to prove the Haters wrong or right this year.
I will hold final judgementas it is not fair to compare the 2 just yet.
If Carson continue his Pics like last year after a true offseason, a better run game, a Defense that isn’t the worse ever and most penalized, then I will be the first to slap him around.
Until then, I bet he will play better, with a more disciplined system.
I think Hue was so in love with him, he didnt hold Carson as accountable as he should have.

Campbell is ten games under .500 as a starter, and RGIII hasn’t yet played a snap in the NFL.
If that would be the best QB tandem in football, then Goodell should not be talking expansion. He should be talking about contraction.
=================
no there wouldnt be a more talented duo. football is a team sport and jc played for the most dysfunctional teams in football washington and oakland, and he whipped oakland into shape.
This is opinion, you are welcome to yours

Mystic,
You are taking my point out of context. What I’m trying to say he we saw JC at his best.
He played with DMAc when he was healthy. He had an offseason with his WR’s.
Let’s see Carson this year with a true offseason, healthy running game, a better Defenese, etc.
Time will tell…
February 3rd, 2012 at 4:02 pm
Mistic fair comment. I understand where you’re coming from regarding stats etc., but in all honesty I believe the RAIDERS would have a better chance winning a SB with Palmer than JC. Anyone remember the great Jim Plunkett?

my faukt bra, you are right i missed what you are trying to say. We did see the best jc to date, but i firmly believe he was still improving and has not hit his ceiling. he would have contiued to get better and the team with him.

Well, as a matter of fact, I disagree with you. DMAC should be traded for whatever we can get for him. A a pair of old tennis shoes. A broken down Pinto. He’s always ready to go the week after the Raiders fail to qualify for the playoffs. Just axe Hue.

I have to concede the point here, plunk was my first qb hero, and he was a turn over machine at times. i dont think though that in todays pass happy nfl you can afford to play that way.
Eli manning is a good example of this, when he is at his best he is protecting the ball and they win. When he has those 2 3 pick games they often lose

He was a leader and solid contributor for us, and we have seen a major drop off at the qb spot since his departure. Admitting these truths doesnt mean we are pining for anyone, it only means we are honest.
Until palmer does something that surpasses what jc did i will not accept the instant upgrade theory, or any upgrade theory. Palmer must prove it on the field, and he has flopped in the interim.

Man, that’s a first. I never saw anyone on here quote the Huffington Post.
What the fuk is wrong with you Dutch?

Missed the point…that the story of Goodell expanding the league to 34 teams was on CNN and the Huffinton post and not some obsure football blog.

260. “We have seen a major drop off at the QB spot since (JCs) departure.”
————–
Because our O lost all its speed weapons and had to be retooled for Palmer mid season?
Come on man…

you want him backing up a guy that he out performed?
he should never back up palmer, he is a better player, and recent history bears witness to this fact. believe me his agent knows this.
Bye Jc im sorry hu jack screwed you, but at least this raider fan is thankful for all that you did for us, and your contribution will not be forgotten

265. Right on Dutch. Like I said, looks like we’re the Santa Clara Raiders now…

Well, Knapp-as you say-was a Kiffin hire.
So when exactly was he offered head coach?
And why would he turn it down and then work under Cable who became the head coach after Kiffin?
=======================================
He was offered HC mid-season when Kiffin was canned. He stayed the rest of the season because unemployed assistants are rarely hired mid-year, and a man’s gotta eat.

Mistic 254. If that’s the stats then so it be. However, as another poster stated last week JC at this time in his playing career should re-evaluate his worth to a franchise. For example: go to the browns with heir apparent RGIII, and get the carp knocked out of you for 2-3 years (if that, remember the division they are in). Or sit behind CP as a backup making a good salary, knowing that a large amount of the RAIDER NATION rem embers your good times, and have to to be inserted when CP does/or will screw up. You’re still a hero, making millions, and who knows, have a better chance of winning that SB ring with the Silver & Black.

Knapp was offered the HC job? Was that when we were ditching the ZBS or b4? Was it to replace Kiffin or Cable? I can’t recall
============================================
It’s when Al was ditching Kiffin. He interviewed Hackett, Knapp and Cable, and offered the job to Knapp, who turned him down. Knapp was on Al’s s**tlist thereafter and left at the end of the year, with Ted Tollner as his kind-of-but-not-really replacement.

Come on man!
Are we talking about the same Al Davis?
Think about it: Al offers him HC and he says no thanks, I’ll just keep my old job?
And Al says: Sure sweetie.
Al interviewed many people–always.
That doesn’t mean that an HC job was offered to Knapp.
Maybe someone on here said so but that doesn’t make it reality.

I don’t know about Hue screwing him; I think Hue knew that Boller wasn’t the answer and went out and got the best QB he could find to replace JC. I have to believe that he did that because he wanted to win. It’s not like he cut the man the minute Al passed.
That said, I am with you in thanking JC for what he did do, and that’s bring some semblance of competence back to the QB position in Oakland. He conducted himself with class and dignity, and always gave his best effort. For that, all Raider fans should be grateful.

I hear that.
The Raiders belong there, the ghosts of many greats will walk there..it’s a perfect location…
but Oakland is never-write it down-never going to re-build that stadium for the Raiders.
It’s a dumb stadium built in the sixties when some morons got together and said, hey let’s build a stadium for a football AND a baseball team.
The whiners are going to build a real stadium in the south bay and are willing to share it with the Raiders.
How long before we OWN it?

275&276. Both posts not a truer word was written.
275. I also thank JC for the class and dignity he brought not only to the franchise as a QB, but also as a total TEAM PLAYER. If he does move on I wish him all the best.
276. Only wish some “rebel moneybags” al a Trump or Cuban would love to invest in a new stadium for our beloved RAIDERS, for a minority share in the franchise. Wishful thinking I guess!
