Raiders going stealth for now

Working at the NFL scouting combine covering everything local _ Raiders, 49ers, Andrew Luck and the locals. A light day for Raiders news, with coach Dennis Allen not scheduled to speak until Friday and general manager Reggie McKenzie not at all, although I’ll endeavor to track him down if possible.

Did talk to Rich Gannon informally for a few minutes on a break from his Sirius radio show. He’s excited about the potential change in culture. I asked him if he thought Carson Palmer would be a fit for Greg Knapp’s offense and Gannon said he thought it would be fine with a few tweaks.

Gannon thinks Palmer’s skill set is roughly similar to that of Matt Schwab, who flourished under Knapp with the Houston Texans.

Dude that allegedly killed his wife while scubdiving won his case today.

Ryan Braun won his drug test appeal.

Interesting fact of the day, Scott Piolo said on a KC radio station today that he doesn’t believe Routt has a penalty problem, and most of his penalties wouldn’t have been flagged if didn’t wear a Raider uniform.

Marcel Reece had like 3 carries a game…My grandma would run with more conviction and crispness too off of 3 carries….

    Bleeder,

point is, Reece made the most of his opportunities.
    Bush didn’t.

If Bush’s last 6 starts were anything like his first 3, the Raiders would have made the playoffs

  • Silverandblack666

Like Bcz24 said I don’t think any true Raider fan would want to lose Bush or devalue him or what he has done for us.

We just simply cannot afford him with so many holes to fill.

Worry not raider fans big mack is not going to over pay for any player not named palmer, and the palmer deal isnt big macks fault.

    Exactly.

    ———

He’s simply a product of his upbringing. Dude was a QB his whole life until college and was taught to be light on his feet. I’m a Louisvillian myself but hate that we let Brohm take the QB reigns instead of Bush. Would’ve been something to see if he could’ve developed into a star QB like it seemed he was gonna be.

  • Dakota

I adamantly defended Bush when the Raiders tried to tank his career by forcing him to play FB, so I am happy he now has the opportunity to cash in with another team.

But Reggie will be smart enough to see that Bush should not receive a big contract.

We can replace Bush. Hopefully with a guy his size, but who can get the tough short yards we need and is better in the Red Zone than Bush.

Always been a big fan of Routt and hope he does well there until they see us. Would’ve much rather we paid Huff ignorantly last year and were forced to let him go now rather than Routt.

  • bcz24

Palmers deal isn’t set in stone Mistic. He was due almost 8 million last year when we acquired him, but he played for 2.5 million. I also don’t think that 12 million is out of whack for a starting qb, not in the day and age of qbs making 20 million.

  • Silverandblack666

“Dude that allegedly killed his wife while scubdiving won his case today.”

That was because the prosecution did not have enough evidence to even bring this case to trail and failed miserably. The problem here is that so many times justice is weighed in their favor that they easily get a murder conviction on circumstantial evidence. Which is BS to me. If you are going to convict a person of murder you should have some evidence or at least a body. Some cases are tired and there is not even a body or finger prints or blood.

I myself and glad that the state is not successful at winning these kinds of cases because we would all be subject to their power if they do continue to win these kinds of cases.

I could go into the police station and say Dakota killed Elvis and if they wanted to they could find a way to convict you.

I guess we will find out this year. Why is it a reach to compare them? They both played second fiddle to a better running back, but performed well enough when given the opportunity to at least warrant consideration as a full time starter. Jordan got his chance, and didn’t perform, albeit on some pretty piss poor teams. The jury is still out on Bush until he gets his shot. Best of luck to him (unless he pulls a d1ck move like Routt and stays in the division)

    useless speculation

again i have never heard of a coach completely changing his entire system in fear of the other teams scouting.

The offense remained the same for at least a couple of seasons, you cant change it in such a short time. too difficult to teach and execute in game. this is why camp and preseason are so long, and new coaching staffs get extra camps to install their system.

Bush practically scored for us that first drive getting us down the field! Problem there was our D didn’t show up, so we fell behind two scores early (I wanna say we were down 2 scores in the 2nd qtr) which basically takes a back like Bush out of that game. Or at least it took him out of most of the playcalling for first and 2nd down.

  • Silverandblack666

If Bush is going to get a big payday its coming from a team like the Browns who were going to over pay Hillis until he pooped his pants last year.

Maybe a team like the Jets will bring him in to split caries with Shone Green. But not at 8 million a year.

The pats offense from the 07 super bowl to this years was almost completely different (thats 4 years not 2)

And there is a difference between scouting an offense, and literally knowing every play at the line of scrimmage. Gruden and other Bucs have said in interviews that they knew every play we were going to run. You don’t think the defense knowing exactly what you are going to do played a part in the outcome? Our offense was totally a timing offense, their defense didn’t even cover the receivers they just ran the routes for them and made the plays.

I bet Jason Campbell would have won that game though…
