On Allen, McKenzie
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Friday, February 24th, 2012 at 8:14 am in Oakland Raiders.
Raiders coach Dennis Allen is scheduled to be at the podium at 1:15 (ET). In the meantime, I got a chance to ask Broncos executive John Elway about Allen and Green Bay general manager Ted Thompson about Reggie McKenzie.
Elway on Allen: “I’m happy for Dennis. I think he’s going to be a great young coach. He’s very smart, a guy that is a good leader, and I’m happy for him. I’m sad that he’s in Oakland that we have to play him twice a year in our division because that’s how much I think of Dennis Allen. He’s a guy that I think is going to have success in this league.”
Thompson on McKenzie: “I think they got a gem. Reggie and I are really good friends so I’m really biased in my answer. This is a really good man, and the people there in that building, that organization, are going to appreciate the fact that he is a really good guy. He is part of that group of people that we have always patterned what we do after the training that we received from Ron Wolf. And I think that combination, plus that Ron has a history with the Oakland Raiders, that’s how he’ll go about it. And he’ll do a good job.”

Glad for Reggie and Dennis. Although the jury is still out on both. Saying and doing the right things so far though.

for the short term, he’s hamstrung. The work he does this spring will have Raider fans up in arms and the pitchforks will be out. His job sucks right about now.
***
G123,
Agreed. 90% of Raider Nation will be calling for his head when they evaluate the moves he makes this offseason and what our roster looks like “on paper” on the defensive side
But I expect that to change rather quickly when we start winning football games in 2012. I predict we will DOMINATE the afc west in the rookie years of McKenzie, Allen & Tarver!
February 24th, 2012 at 8:26 am
Change isn’t always good. But in this case change was needed.

2012 is a honeymoon year. His “axeman” year of correcting old wrongs and bursting festering sores. He’s going to make this team over into “his” guys. 2013 will see a lot of old misspent money off the books, and I don’t see him carrying forward bad contracts.

G123,
when can we finally stop paying JaMarcus Russell, Javon Walker, Gibril Wilson, DeAngelo Hall, Kwame Harris, Justin Fargas & Larry Brown?
February 24th, 2012 at 8:30 am

February 24th, 2012 at 8:32 am
Speaking of JaMarcus Russell, I’ve been watching the draft combine shows on NFLN & they had me excited back then, the same way I see RGIII on the NFL combine shows they are running now. RGIII looks like a franchise QB. But glad we don’t have that decision to make anymore.

DMAC was the leading rusher last season before he got hurt. No impact? Lol. Also the JC CP debate always involves people saying palmer never had dmac or palmer will be so much better with dmac. Can’t have it both ways
February 24th, 2012 at 8:33 am
Value guys in the draft:
- CB Trumaine Johnson (law issues)
- CB Omar Bolden (Injuries)
- OLB Sean Spence (size)
- FS Janzen Jackson (Law issues)
- RB Terrance Ganaway (slow 40, catching issues)
- WR Brian Quick (slow 40, 6′3 225)
I think most (if not all) will be available in the 3rd day of the draft.

1st & 2nd = Palmer
3rd = Pryor
4th = Campbell

February 24th, 2012 at 8:36 am
If there are any questions on DMAC’s foot, his trade value is nothing. He can’t be thought of having a lingering issue. You can forget about getting anything for him.
Maybe the Raiders should have a DMAC pro-day to prove he’s healthy again, to increase his trade value. Maybe DMAC would welcome it to see if it gets him a big money extension. One hand feeds the other?

If fans think a healthy McFadden is going to make a difference to the Raiders’ overall record in 2012, or for that matter the Raiders’ long-term success, they’re going to be sorely disappointed.
McFadden, even “when healthy”, is not superman. Good defenses keep him in check or stop him entirely. Elite offenses negate his impact by forcing the Raiders’ offense to throw more.
The Raiders need to build a TEAM. That’s how you sustain success in the NFL. Not by leaning on a single player, ESPECIALLY a running back, no matter how talented he might be.

That said, he’s in the final year (ok one more voidable year left) of his deal and he’s paid like $5M this year. That’s cheap compared to the level of player he is at his position. He’s not the team, but he’s a valuable commodity to own, whether or not you play him or trade him.
I certainly agree that he’s not nor ever will be the focal point of the offense going forward. This is a passing league, and that needs to be developed more going forward. But having a franchise back at a reasonable price is the last of our worries.

February 24th, 2012 at 8:44 am
Raiders fans are preoccupied with the idea of “replacing” DMac.
Few backs have the talent DMac does.
But GOOD football teams use a rotation guys who may not have the measurables or “game breaking potential” that DMac does to keep their offense on schedule. Keeping 3-4 running backs on the roster who have varying skill sets, and rotating them in as needed, gives your offense far more options than, for instance, leaning on one player and hoping he stays healthy (especially if he has a history of recurring foot injuries).
Good teams don’t need an elite running back. If an elite running back made your team good, then the Vikings and Jaguars would be perennial Superbowl contenders.
If DMac is an investment, then the Raiders need to sell high. He’s the only bargaining chip they have that has enough value to give them more options for the future. And his salary is one of the highest on the team – and one of several that does not match the player’s production.

You made a point that DMAC would have no impact on the Raiders record next year. I say you are wrong. Ok, maybe a Super Bowl champ has not come with a top running back leading the way of late, but to say a top flight running back when healthy will have no impact on the record, healthy or hurt, is just plain ludicrous. Now, you argument of winning championships without a top running back is a totally different argument. I was not talking championships, I am talking record. Your assessment is wrong. For example, we did not make the playoffs this year partly because we lost DMAC, in my opinion.
February 24th, 2012 at 8:46 am
As for DMAC getting traded, it is not gonna happen. we would get zero value for him. If we could get a first round pick, I am sure Reggie would do it, but I doubt we could even get a second. Most likely a third.
February 24th, 2012 at 8:48 am
Lets just say they get a first for DMAC ( which they won’t because he won’t be traded ) What unproven player are gonna draft that’s better? I’ll wait for that one. And Steelers rode bettis in Ben’s first Superbowl.
February 24th, 2012 at 8:49 am

————–
PART of the reason the Raiders did not make the playoffs was indeed because of the RB situation. But it wasn’t because they didn’t have DMac specifically. It was because they waited for DMac and Jones to get healthy, while Bush was playing 30+ snaps a game, and the only other running back on the roster was Rock Cartwright. It was poor management of the roster.
Bush NEEDS a change-of-pace back, in particular one who does the things he doesn’t excel at – namely, off-tackle and perimeter runs. The Raiders don’t need a superstar to do those things. They just need another warm body with a skill set that includes outside runs to help them open up the playbook.

26. Thats why this year is different. The raiders were on the up and up. Before all the changes most were expecting the raiders to be a playoff team next season more than ever in like the last 10 years. We were talking a few tweaks not a major overhaul. Standards should be held high. Anything less than the playoffs= fail.
February 24th, 2012 at 8:52 am
And Steelers rode bettis in Ben’s first Superbowl.
————
Bettis averaged 3.3 YPC in 2005, and gained 370 yards. He was the heart and soul of that team, but the reason they got to the Superbowl is because they had a balanced offense and great defense.
February 24th, 2012 at 8:52 am
If we could trade DMAC for a first or even a second and a 4th, I’d do that deal in a heartbeat. We have an exodus of talent on defense leaving the roster this spring, and we are going to be depleted. As much talent as we can get is going to be more of an impact going forward than replacing DMAC. He’s a luxury now. He wasn’t before, but now he is.

Nah, Raiders did not wait. Hue was just feeding the fans a crock o crap. he knew. DMAC is still not 100%. I definitely agree. One of the misshaps of Hue Jax was that he simply would not releive his running backs. He would run Bush into the ground and have no, I mean no reliever come in. Bush would end up fumbling or losing his explosion. If we would have just used a good reliever come in at the right time DMAC might have finihsed the season and Bush wouldn’t have diminished down the stretch.

I agree, but have a different conclusion here. All this proves is that Bush is a nancy who needs to take his 3.8 ypc elsewhere. He got worse as the carries piled up, not better, not even the same. He wore down. 1000 yards is his kryptonite. He’s a big bodied pansy. We need a guy who relishes dishing out punishment in the 4th quarter. Bush isn’t it.
February 24th, 2012 at 9:05 am
Assuming the Raiders can get a 2nd and 4th for McFadden:
They can use his salary to re-sign Tyvon Branch.
In the 2nd round, an impact pass-rusher like Whitney Mercilus or Vinny Curry will give the Raiders the versatility they need to run a defense with multiple looks. Alameda Ta’amu could also be available, and would immediately give the Raiders a much-needed gap-plugger on the inside of the defensive line.
In the 4th round, Josh Chapman or Nicolas Jean-Baptiste will provide the Raiders with an NT, which is something they currently do not have on the roster, and desperately need if they intend on showing more 3-4 looks. Isaiah Pead is a running back who will be available in the 4th. He has a similar skill set to McFadden’s, although is less physically imposing. Has special teams value, too – very solid returner.
Are any of these players “sure things”? No. But neither is McFadden. And considering all of these players will cost much less and give the Raiders a chance at improving the worst part of their team, it would be a mild risk for a potentially high reward.

He’s had ONE healthy season in four.

The whole get rid of Dmac because running backs dont win championships group is missing a major point, yes passing games win championships, BUT how does having an elite running back HURT your passing game? If we get rid of dmac it isn’t going to be in order to upgrade the qb or wr positions. I don’t expect Dmac to carry us to a championship, but when he is no longer the primary focus of our offense and we are more balanced teams will have a FAR more difficult time shutting him down.
*********
I agree, but have a different conclusion here. All this proves is that Bush is a nancy who needs to take his 3.8 ypc elsewhere. He got worse as the carries piled up, not better, not even the same. He wore down. 1000 yards is his kryptonite. He’s a big bodied pansy. We need a guy who relishes dishing out punishment in the 4th quarter. Bush isn’t it.
—————————————————
I can’t really fault Bush down the stretch. If you remember CP was just coming in and Bush had the bullseye post DMAC’s foot. If everyone on the D knows that your gonna run…well. There were also periods where our receivers were hurt and we became really one-dimensional. I still beleive that Bush would have exploded in games if Hue Jax would have utilized another back just to spell him up once in while. Maybe Mcfadden saw the HUEJAX method and decided to sit out the rest of the season
February 24th, 2012 at 9:15 am
Considering Mckenzie is taking over a team that needs a serious overhaul on defense, is over the cap with “out of whack” contracts, and the team has very little to work with as far as draft picks..If the team looks any better than they did last year then Reggie deserves a ton of credit.
Now if it looks like the offense falls off a considerable amount AND the defense is hardly improved then he absolutely will have to face some criticism, even though it will be his first season as GM. And sorry Allen will get some blame also but Reggie mostly because the coaching change was his decision.
With that being said, he obviously gets more than one season to right the ship.

Bush is that guy, but not when he’s already had 20 carries over the first three quarters.
Offer him $3-4 million a year at most. If he thinks he can get better money elsewhere, then the Raiders should go get Mike Tolbert or draft a guy like Terrance Ganaway.
========
Sorry YA, but I have to disagree w/ Bush being a punisher. Looks like he’s scared of contact, because he probably doesn’t want to reinjure that leg.
I do want to see him back at that price range and if he walks Tolbert could be a great fit here.

Interally, you know that Reggie Mac knows more about where DMAC’s foot is right now. If it’s worse, he won’t be able to hide that info should trade offers come in. But if it’s better, how much of a bluff does he pull to reel in the best offer?
Will we ever know on draft day?

Ray rice arian foster rashad mendenhall… If any of those teams had DMAC they would be MUCH better…how do you not see that??? Just like the raiders are way better with him also
===================
And those teams are all stronger in every aspect of the game than the Raiders are. If DMac was the final piece in the puzzle? Sure, take the chance he’ll be healthy in 2012. But he’s a questionable piece in a far from complete puzzle.
And to be fair, all of those running backs produced more than DMac did last season. And when Foster and Mendenhall were hurt? Those teams plugged in replacements who were suitable enough to keep those offenses moving.

it’s that worthless bum McClain that fans say can’t be replaced. They just assume Reggie McKenzie can’t do better than Darryl Blackstock, Ricky Brown or Travis Goethel!
**********************
I’m not saying Reggie can’t find a guy to replace McClain but as of today we are 11 million over the cap, if we cut McClain we are 19 million over the cap. We already have 11 million in cuts to make just to get in compliance, PLUS however much room we need to free up to add in some guys, now you want us to tack on another 8.5 million in room we have to free up? It isn’t fiscally sound, cutting romac hurts this team FAR more than it helps us. Plus, sorry to say, I don’t see Reggie or DA getting rid of a 22 yo LB without at least trying to mold him in their image.

His base salary for 2012 is 5,650,000 w/ a bonus of 1,066,667.
The draft is like shooting craps. You never know what you’ll get. You can draft a stud or a dud.

I agree with #85. Romac is much like the investment made in Palmer. Reggie will give both at least a year to prove their worth.
As far as getting rid of DMAC, I say get him healthy and under the guidance of the new training staff. If he is still fragile in 2012, THEN maybe we think about other options with him…

I actually do not want Bush back, unless we play Sandy Eggo every game, then I want him back. watch the tape, look at how he constantly stutter steps before hitting holes, which by then are usually getting smaller. He has no balls, unless playing the chargers who had numerous injuries on the defensive side of the ball. I would take my chance on someone else. we need a power back to compliment DMACd and Jones. Bush just looks like a power back.

Good/great players are gonna cost money. Good/great players are neccessary to win Super Bowls.
Too much concern over “this guy costs too much” etc. etc.
Raiders might be restricted somewhat THIS yr. cuz of contracts on bad players or guys who aren’t worth it, but eventually if you really want to win you’ve gotta spend $.
The argument of “but where has that gotten us in the past?” is funny.
Does that mean “well since we spent $ on guys that didn’t work out, we should stop spending money”. No, you just start being smarter about it.
You cannot win in this league being the cheapest. Even GB spends the big money on the RIGHT guys cuz they have to.
February 24th, 2012 at 9:28 am
Hue Jax ix a liar and a snake oil salesman.
February 24th, 2012 at 9:28 am
Another problem area has been identified. One of the most explosive backs in the league and leading rusher, when healthy, Darren Macfadden, makes less money than Kameron Wimbley, the pass-”pressuring” outside linebacker than can’t play the run or cover a paper weight
February 24th, 2012 at 9:29 am
The only sure thing about McFadden: He will hurt his foot/toe/ankle/ next year, and he will not play through the pain. But, he’s cheap enough to keep around until he gets hurt and he will probably perform well until it happens. That’s why Either A) Taiwan Jones needs to break out, or B) we need to get someone else (Bush or otherwise) who can fill in after McFadden goes down. Personally, I am betting McFadden doesnt even make it out of training camp this year before hitting the IR.
February 24th, 2012 at 9:30 am
As much as I appreciate having Bush, I’m all for letting him walk. As long as we bring in say, Mike Tolbert!!
Then we could call our backfield ‘Pound and pound a little more’!!
February 24th, 2012 at 9:30 am
Some of you cats are foolish as all get out… When DMC is on the field the D’s are back on they’re heals, whether we’re running the ball or not. In turn this sets up the passing game for wide open WR’s down the field.
Why in the world would we trade a player with DMC’s skill set? We would be left with Taiwan because Bush is a FA and I really don’t think he will be coming back. Trade DMC for a draft pick and get a player that may or may not pan out? DMC is a beast when he’s healthy, he can do it all. I agree that he is a little fragile but we have no reason to trade him considering he, at one point in the season was the best back in the league (until he got hurt). We need to pick up a bruiser and hope that Taiwan gets better.

In terms of yearly earnings (apy), here are the ten highest paid running backs in football:
1. Adrian Peterson — 7 years, 96 million. 36 million guaranteed (13.7apy).
2. Darren McFadden — 6 years, 60 million. 26 million guaranteed (10apy).
3. Chris Johnson — 6 years, 55 million. 30 million guaranteed (9.17apy).

The crap from the 90’s and beyond is more made to be commercial and it is.
I have never watched an episode of Idol I can proudly say as it is the reason music sucks so bad in the modern era. The fact that a legend such as Tyler has sold out to a commercial popularity contest is only tainting his rick legacy.

His message is clear, perform and earn what you are being paid, or you are out. NO ONE IS UNTOUCHABLE OR IMMUNE.
Im sure the next two season will be about turning over the roster, and implemetning new systems. This is a full on rebuild, over haul and purge.
Lots of the fat cat players will be gone this year, and guy that we couldnt cast off this year, will be gone next year if they dont perform up to standard. This includes guys that are too injured to answer the bell, dmac, and ford. This includes guys that are knuckle heads off the field and locker room divas, romac, and palmer. This also includes guys that are over rated and are no longer system fits, like palmer.
Im ok with 5-8 wins for the next two seasons as we clean house and rebuild. Year 3-4 is where i expect to be playoff ready.

so if macs people can figure out what causes these injuries, keep him.
If not, then he should go.
If the line is making holes, hire an rb to go through them.
Rb’s are not indispensable. Lots of them out there.
We need Dmac if we have no freaking line.
As Belicheck says, “Do your job.”
Everybody does their job then the only star you need is a decent QB (the brains) and maybe a linebacker and safety that makes skill players fear for their life.

Mark has stated publicly that one of his MAIN priorities is getting this stadium issue “settled”.
Does it help or hurt his chances if the Raiders win or lose right now?
Winning cures EVERYTHING.
Logic states that an 8-8 team…a YOUNG team basically would be poised to take the “next step”.
It’s a tough sell for Mark to say “Hey look. We are 4-12 but…I promise you that we will be good someday. Maybe in the next couple years for sure”.
Does it help his cause of promoting the Raiders to have 30,000 in the stands, waning interest from an already jaded fan base, and no guarantee of future success?
Unless…the goal is use that waning interest as a reason, or excuse to move the team to greener pastures.
“Hey, it’s obvious our position in Oakland is untenable. The fans don’t even support us anymore, therefore we MUST move to LA, or WHEREVER to continue to exist as a viable franchise. I’m sorry Oakland but YOU were the ones that let us down and shown us you just don’t care anymore”.
My point is LOSING right now (becuz of a massive rebuild)does not seem to support Mark’s STATED desire for a new stadium.
NOBODY WANTS LOSERS.

Mistic, where are you getting that CP is a locker room diva? Sources please. I’ve never heard anything like that at all, all I’ve ever heard is that he’s a exceptional leader and great team mate.
Best QB we’ve had since Gannon, a bit of a gun slinger but I like it! He’s going to surprise the heck out of all these naysayers in here next season. You can take that to the bank my friend! I truly think he’ll be a top 5 QB for sure…
====================
thats easy,
In cicny he went to owner mike brown and demanded certain players be traded or cut, and demanded the firing of head coach marvin lewis. This is classic locker room diva behavior. Further more when he was rebuffed and didnt get what he wanted he demanded to be traded. When that didnt happen he packed his bags and went home quitting on the queen city, and his team, and failed to honor his huge contract that he recently signed with the bungles.
I also saw him throw a pick then blow a chance at an end of half field goal to keep the game close. When time was running out he made a bone headed pass (out of sheer panic) to a guy that was no where near the side line. instead of taking responsibility, and being accountable, he proceeds to get into a shouting match with head coach hu jack as they are walking into the tunnel!!!!!!

If we are truly in rebuilding mode we would trade DMAC but of we want to compete for a title next year and in 2013 then we will keep him.

AP destroyed his knee last year, there is a chance he will never be the same player again… should they trade him? They are rebuilding and could certainly use the draft picks elsewhere.
The main reason you guys want to trade Dmac is because of his history of injuries, but you think the other 31 teams in the NFL will overlook that and give us fair compensation for the guy. Deluded thinking. If we are willing to part ways with DMac, that would be a clear red flag to the rest of the league that there is something wrong with his foot and his market value would drastically drop.

I understand that wanting to keep DMAC (thinking he can stat healthy) is also based on “Hopes & Dreams”, but that’s not the only reason. The main reason is the fact that he is under contract for TWO more seasons, and we can all agree that when healthy he is a top tier RB.

Bottom line you only make excuses for the guy because you are his fan.

DMac’s presence (or lack thereof) will have no impact on the Raiders’ overall record in 2012.
==================================================
Absolute nonsense.
His absence in the 2nd half of 2011 was severely felt.
From the moment he went down against KC, the Raider offense lost a vital component – the ability to score from anywhere on the field on the ground.
You don’t know squat if you think DMAC’s explosiveness wasn’t missed or didn’t/won’t have an impact on the Raider’s overall success.
Obviously, the QB is king – but besides the way Palmer performs – there isn’t a single player besides DMAC whose presence will have a greater impact on the Raider’s offensive fortunes in 2012.
If he’s able to go, the best all purpose RB in the NFL will certainly make a difference.
If he can’t go or is traded, he’ll be severely missed.

McClain held a gun to someones head Palmer has done nothing of the sort. Palmer came in midway through the season and had to adapt McClain has been here and knows the system or should know it.
There is no way to compare the two. Its easy to knock a guy that came in here midway through the season and had to try and carry a team without its star player and a total lack of defense. Sure Palmer made mistakes but give the guy a chance with a full off season and camps to show what he can do.

Hue said he asked McFadden what he likes to do, and installed a few plays just for him, which helped improve his production.
Does that mean that Knapp’s offense was not a good fit for McFadden?
==========================================
No, it means CABLE’s offense wasn’t a good fit for DMac. Remember that when Hue came in, Knapp had been gone for over a season.

Housh on Palmer
Q: You played with Carson Palmer in his prime. You played with him after his injuries and coming out of “retirement.” Is he close to being back to what he was?
A: He’s different — was much more vocal in Oakland then I ever remember him in Cincinnati. That aspect he is different. Throwing the ball, it’s weird man. I thought he threw the ball with more velocity. I’m biased toward Carson, but when we worked out (during Palmer’s retirement) he was throwing the ball so hard — more so than going into his last year in Cincinnati. I think he noticed that. It was hard coming in midway. He said when he went in the first game against Kansas City, he only knew a few plays.
Then they had a bye, but it was harder than he thought. He admitted it to me. I think now, the offense he’s in with (coordinator Greg Knapp) is perfect, perfect, perfect for him. Greg Knapp probably has one of the best playbooks of any offensive coordinator I played under. What he likes to do with his quarterback is perfect for Carson. I think he’s going to do really well.

O,
nothing wrong with paying rent. My parents lived in the same house in Cali and paid rent for 25 years. Problem was, their landlord was a lazy bum who had health problems. nothing ever got fixed and they had to pay for their own home repairs & landscaping. If you add up the rent they paid, they could have purchased the home TWICE and got something in return after my mom passed away and my dad moved to Missouri

Did a google search for Kirk Morrions yeaterday and they may resign him to be a backup, but they might be going to a 4-3. They seem to like former Raiders…
February 24th, 2012 at 11:18 am
McKenzie said he expected to get more out of interview sessions and medical updates than the actual physical drills, which are tests of physical skill which may not have a lot to do with football, and chuckled at the notion that the Raiders may not have the fastest player in the 40-yard dash this season.
“If he can’t play football, then no, I’m afraid not,’’ McKenzie said.
So what are the Raiders looking for?
“The combine will really just tell you what kind of athlete, not what kind of football player he is,’’ McKenzie said. “We’re not looking to grade these guys out as football players. We’re looking to grade them out on what kind of athletes they are, and medically.
“You look at that and see what they do on film, and see if that co-relates.’’
While there is speculation that McKenzie plans on making major changes in the scouting department once the draft is completed, he said the process is going smoothly for this session.
“The communication has gone very well, and the guys have been very good about adjusting to things, and myself adjusting to them,’’ McKenzie said. “We’re looking to get on the same page and that’s what we’re doing.’’
^^^^^^^^
Focus on drafting FOOTBALL players first…and not focus on straight line 40 times!
That’s what I like to hear!

There’s tons of Raider fans that wanted Jano gone too.
Thats why they play Madden instead of GM a football team.
McFadden is staying unless someone throws McK an offer he can’t refuse (not likely.) Bush is not coming back because McK can find a comparable replacement at a fraction of the cost.
I thought Raider fans were excited about McK because he will bring logical football decisions back to the fold… why all this demand for crass, illogical, gambles and reaches?

McFadden was utilized properly in 2010 and stayed Healthy.

In 2011 He was on pace to better 2010 and went down.
McFadden has been suited up for 70% of the games in His career.

Question is, in a WCO (if that is what the Raides will run), how important is it to have two running backs ala DMAC and Bush?
I would think it’s more important to have one good back, and a solid TE, and a 3rd down scat-back like Taiwan Jones (in the mold of Charlie Garner).
I just don’t see importance of retaining Bush when we should be talking about Boss or Meyers stepping up their game.

I get a kick out Warrior fans who are now rooting for Lin to fail….when he won’t.
The W’s screwed up by not properly evaluating him and letting him go prematurely and that lost asset cost them a shot at improving the team by either trading Ellis, Lin or Curry and bringing in a versatile big small forward or legit Center.
The W’s screwed up….AGAIN when it came to Lin.

Can’t agree with ya there my dude. Though I was raised in KY; I’m actually a life-long Knick fan, and seeing what Lin brings to the table (which isn’t amazing, but works for us) and his savvy-ness off the pick and roll which is perfect with Antoni’s (No D) system; I like his chances a lot more than I like Baron’s. Now, was Baron better in his hey-day? By far. But today’s a new day. I live in SoCal now and have for the past half decade so I’ve seen the Baron the Clipps got from the W’s. He isn’t the same guy. He either doesn’t want to play the right way and isn’t fully engaged, or he wants to play the right way but his body won’t let him. Baron will be cool off the bench, and anything he gives the Knicks is a bonus 4real4real.
The best thing for Baron to do now is share stories with fellow old head broke-down body buddy Mike Bibby on the bench on how the Pac-10 used to be a decent basketball conference. No, the Knicks aren’t going to win the East with Lin, but they wouldn’t with Baron either. That has a lot to do with Antoni (No D) coaching, and all the possessions they take off on defense, but that’s a different story. Lin will get ‘em out the first round this year and Knick fans need to be content with that with our recent history. Miami makes a lot of guards look horrible; not just Lin. Baron was 0 for 8 last night too….
