Lease extension could be next

Share

It’s encouraging that the Oakland City Council has approved $3.5 million toward efforts to redevelop the Coliseum complex in an effort to keep the Raiders, A’s and Warriors at home, as reported in Wednesday’s Bay Area News Group publications.

That’s a long, long way from it actually happening, however. Keep in mind the Raiders lease is set to expire next year. If the Raiders are truly interested in seeing how the city’s plan plays out, they’ll get an extension on the current lease and announce it at some point in the near future.

Raiders owner Mark Davis is on the record as wanting a stadium deal “sooner rather than later” and CEO Amy Trask has made it clear the Raiders’ first choice is at its current site because of its superior access in terms of public transportation.

Although the Raiders are often thrown into the Santa Clara mix, the 49ers appear on the verge of getting that deal done themselves and the only way it would happen as if the franchises truly needed it each other for it to come to fruition.

  • You think he was addicted to Codeine, when he won the Manning Award?

The Manning Award has been presented annually since 2004 to the collegiate American football quarterback adjudged by the Sugar Bowl Committee to be the best in the United States. It is the only quarterback award that includes each candidate’s postseason-bowl performance in its balloting.[1]

Because he became addicted, after coming to the Raiders, signing for all that money in an organization, rudderless, with NO leadership.

This was probably the worst situation for Russell to be drafted into. But still, Russell did NOTHING to better himself, learn his trade, get better conditioned, nothing. That is on the player.

Chefs can afford him and Reggie Wayne. With that defense and running game, adding them equals instant contenders. This prospect terrifies me.

Elway is sniffing around about Manning too… no way do I wish him to end up in the AFCW. Because you know with Manning in tow, and enough cap room, the FA’s would flock in like they did when we had Gannon as MVP… terrifying is the right word.

I think the Colts are nuts. Manning too. Doesn’t a team need a QB? If it isn’t about the money, why didn’t they renogiate the thing? Manning should be fixed for life and then some, already. Does he think he will get more on the outside than 28 million? Do the Colts think QBs that can play in the NFL grow on trees? Yes, the Colts stunk last year, but three or four good players can go along way into remedying that along with a NFL QB. Of course, its about money!

  • CanuckRaider

What do you expect from a Canuck on his first rap? That was just in respect to the blog rap master…You know who…

  • Gdog

Anyone know how Denver is sitting for cap room? That team has more of the pieces than KC… especially defensively. You KNOW Manning is going somewhere where he can call the shots offensively (which I bet Fox would let him) a decent team in place, and a team with enough cap room to pack up a quick winner in free agency.

KC has the cap room, but nothing else, IMO.

Holy crap… I looked it up… they have FIFTY MILLION to spend! Yikes!!!

  • Chris in NY

Not to cheese off you A’s fans, but I wouldn’t mind seeing them leave the Coliseum so that we could finally get rid of that ridiculous dirt infield. Most HS teams don’t even have to play with that nonsense.
