Agreed 1000%.
Not the first time this has come up amongst the semi’s in regards to ole boy.
March 12th, 2012 at 7:56 pm
We have an abundance of receiving threats on the squad.
Don’t we need an OLB and Corner?
I hope Hue is talking Mike Brown into trading this years #2 for Ford.
March 12th, 2012 at 7:57 pm
Routt – Out
Wimbley – Out
Huff – Restructured
Seymour – Way too much guaranteed
TK?????????

Live Chats are where Corkran makes his hay.
He can get a little ornery in there, and let his opinions fly around a little.
I will be hammering him with Q’s tomorrow.
March 12th, 2012 at 7:59 pm
If they move Ford they absolutely have to replace him with a playmaker on defense.

Jacoby Ford has 7 total TD’s to 6 fumbles, and averages less than 2 catches a game so far.
He is dynamic, and again not dying to see him go, but let’s not act like he is some world-beater.
He also wimped out at the end of the season, than tweeted about going out partying the night before the biggest Raider game in 10 years, than proceeded to cap our season off by running a poor route that ended with a pick.
********************************************************
And you’re suggesting we can trade him and two late-rounders for a 2nd?
You’re kinda contradicting yourself there, JFB.
March 12th, 2012 at 8:03 pm
I think we have enough play makers on offense we could part with Ford, we definitely have some holes to fill on the D so if we can get someone via draft I think it would be worth it. Party time is over for these fools, they better be ready to come to work and actually put in work.
March 12th, 2012 at 8:05 pm
Watching Lombardi react to Bud Adams’ comments about wanting to get Manning. He looks like he’s trying very hard not to laugh.
March 12th, 2012 at 8:07 pm
And you’re suggesting we can trade him and two late-rounders for a 2nd?
*************************
I think he is talented enough to get a team pretty excited. Plus some of these East Coast teams have more value for a kick returner, due to the cold weather allowing for more kick returns and such.
Pats would make a lot of sense, so would the Ravens.
March 12th, 2012 at 8:11 pm
Was it Jerry who said we’re not making a splash in FA?
Reggie going to do it like Green Bay and Pats find cheap guys hope they over produce.
I think Steve said earlier we would go after some expensive CBs in FA.
Can’t wait to see!
Have a gr8 night Nation!~

He is definitely talented, but do you really think you could get a 2nd round pick for him and a couple of late-rounders?
The Patriots definitely don’t do that for a kick returner, and they have historically gone the veteran route (no pun intended) with their WRs.
The Ravens, maybe, but not for a 2nd rounder.
March 12th, 2012 at 8:12 pm
There may not be any player I could possibly dislike more than Randy Moss already.
Being a 49er puts him in the lead for all-time d-bag.
Hope you flame out, quitter.

League sources tell NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora that the Raiders will formally announce the release of OLB Kam Wimbley on Tuesday.
Kevin Boss’ release actually hasn’t been formally announced yet. Per La Canfora, Boss and Wimbley’s releases will be announced together. Wimbley will hit the market as a 28-year-old pass rusher with 16 sacks over the past two seasons and versatility to fit both a 3-4 defense as a linebacker and a 4-3 scheme as a defensive end. Wimbley would be an awfully nice fallback plan for teams that miss out on top free agent pass rusher Mario Williams.

Didn’t Belechick trade us a 3rd and a 5th for Burgess???
March 12th, 2012 at 8:22 pm
Who do have as big-time play-makers on offense?
DMAC runs right over lower tier, non-playoff bound teams with losing records, but looks average to below average against higher tier, playoff bound teams with winning records: besides DMAC will be out with injury, or on the IR by game 7. Count DMAC out as a play-maker of lasting importance.
We have Moore who, if he keeps developing will be a huge playmaker.
DHB is a force-fed shill, one of Alzheimer’s AL’s scholarship kids, gained a lot of yards but only 3 TD’s, and in a critical “must catch” situation, chokes; his drops costs us several games last season. He is no play-maker; he traps the ball against his chest and can’t catch with his hands, lacks the ability to make big time adjustments to the ball, including the ability to leverage his body to de-position his defenders.
Schilens and Louis Murphy haven’t exactly set the world on fire of late; they are not play-makers.
I assume Michael Bush won’t be back as a Raider; he won’t be a play-maker.
When Reece is used properly he is a play-maker, but only in a limited sense: after several big plays opposition D’s always adapt a defense for him. He is a limited play-maker.
So that leaves us with Jacoby Ford, who made numerous big time plays and is talented as Moore. Last year Hue didn’t use Ford correctly and he struggled through injuries.
The loose talk about trading Ford for a #2 pick, is just loose (and illogical) talk. Ford is a bona-fide play maker and to test the waters trading him for 2nd round draft pick is ridiculous.
Also, the absence of Bush will come back to haunt the Raiders. Once DMAC goes down (and he will go down) and Taiwan Jones doesn’t pan out, we’ll rudely discover just how “easy” it is to find a runner to prevail for us.
March 12th, 2012 at 8:23 pm
Carmelo plays selfish basketball. Don’t think he is a selfish-dude, that’s just his game. Nobody else is involved, nobody gets in a flow, and his defensive is awful. He has to score like 25 a night to be a net gain for the team.
————
Man, they are on a 6 game losing streak. Crazy where they are at now vs a few weeks ago. Common denominator in all these losses…lack of D by STAT and Melo and too much of Melo playing 1on1 bball. He just stops the flow of the game. He doesnt pass when he has the ball and they all just stand around.
I’ve been following them since the Lakers game and 99% of Knick fans are saying the same thing on their blogs.

Warriors just traded monta Ellis to the magic for hedo Turkoluge and two first round picks. Think that is enough to keep Howard in Orlando? I don’t.
March 12th, 2012 at 8:24 pm
I hope we dont trade Ford. Dude is a threat to score any time he touches the ball.
March 12th, 2012 at 8:27 pm
I doubt the W’s will trade Ellis for Hedo and picks. Ellis is a lot like Carmelo. When Ellis gets his assist numbers up, we have a better chance to win like last nite.

He did. Burgess was a two-time Pro Bowler that was coming off of 35 sacks in three years with the Raiders, and missed several games his last year with the Raiders with a triceps injury. When he refused to report to camp due to a contract dispute, the Raiders traded him to New England.
Different animal, I would say.

March 12th, 2012 at 8:37 pm
Yeah, I don’t think you can say that retaining McCann means Ford is going anywhere.
More likely, they’re trying to keep Ford healthy so he can be more a part of the offense.
March 12th, 2012 at 8:38 pm
I forget…did McCann have a good return last year? I know Branch did…
March 12th, 2012 at 8:38 pm
It’s never good to trade away a home run threat. They gave Ford the ball in the backfield and he took it to the house. Both Grad and JC threw desperate passes to Ford and he bailed them out. Ford catches a quick out and took it to the house. You can’t trade away that type of threat. This is the one time Al Davis speed love is right.
March 12th, 2012 at 8:42 pm
AIG, you’re forgetting about Denarius Moore! Can’t wait to see his improvement this year! I guess I’m banking on that one WR coach from USC!
March 12th, 2012 at 8:43 pm

Sources confirmed a RealGM.com report from earlier Monday that the Magic have continued to pursue Golden State’s Monta Ellis as a complement to Howard. ESPN The Magazine’s Chris Broussard reported Feb. 29 that Orlando had targeted Ellis as an ideal player to try to pry from the Warriors as a means of placating Howard.
But sources close to the situation told ESPN.com on Monday that the Warriors remain uninterested in parting with Ellis unless the trade lands Howard in Oakland. Golden State and Houston are at the top of the list of teams willing to go for a so-called “rental” trade for Howard this week with no guarantee that the NBA’s reigning defensive player of the year will stay beyond the end of the season.
In the proposed deal, sources said, Hornets center Chris Kaman is the best player who would have been headed to Golden State, with the Warriors also required to take back Magic forward Hedo Turkoglu while shedding Dorell Wright and out-of-favor center Andris Biedrins. The Warriors, sources said, have no interest in such a swap.
Sources told ESPN.com that the Warriors have been far more focused Monday trying to assemble a workable trade scenario to acquire center Andrew Bogut from the Milwaukee Bucks as opposed to engaging the Magic in trade talks, since Orlando is intent on acquiring Ellis to keep Howard.

March 12th, 2012 at 8:48 pm
Denarius Moore! Can’t wait to see his improvement this year!
———————————————————–
Agreed.
Which is why I ask who folks think the starters are going to be?
If Moore and DHB are the starters, and you factor in Reece and Ausberry as secondary targers, how much of a role is Ford going to have?
If Ford is the projected starter, then yeah you hold on to him. If he’s a backup and we can get a 2nd rd pick for him, I see it as a no brainer.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Hill,
Ford should start for us, just as Moore should start for us this up-coming season. Last year, Hue’s choice of who to start and not start was totally inexplicable, except for DHB, who was force fed upon us by AL.
Hue traded Hagan, a great possession receiver, huge in size with great hands, out performed all receivers on the team, and replaced him with Hous, who caught 2 passes in 8 games.
There was no rythme nor reason to Hue’s action, which is one reason he was released.
I am not against replacing non-starters with starters: who would be against it?? Hue’s rendition of who should start was fatally flawed and no base line from which to judge starters and non-starters.
March 12th, 2012 at 8:51 pm
Ed Teach,
The Magics are offering either Hedo or Reddick to the W’s along with other players. Aint going to happen bro. Those guys are shooters and the last thing the W’s need are more shooters. The Ws should have drafted Shumpert over Klay. Dude can flat shut down the other team’s best guard and he is athletic as heck getting to the rim too.
March 12th, 2012 at 8:51 pm
J HIll, I actually would be shocked if we get rid of Ford, but I do see your point. However, I don’t think we can get a second for him, but you never know! I think all of these guys hopefully will have an injury free year and let’s get off to the races!

Was it durability concerns?
March 12th, 2012 at 8:52 pm
Hwnrdr,
I love Moore. Having both Moore and Ford on the field will create all kinds of issues for the opposing team. Trade DHB for draft pick if we could and pick up a possession WR in FA. That’s really DHB’s role now. Get the short passes because he is not a natural at catching the deep ball.

IMHO, Ford dropped because Spiller was getting all the hype and Ford is a tiny dude compared to other WRs in this league. Look at the splashy big WRs getting drafted high in this league the last few years. Not many small dudes get drafted that high at the WR position. Even a playmaker like DeSean wasnt drafted in the first round.

I was responding to yet another of Dakota’s fake trade posts, Aig. Not recommending a deal with Orlando for shooters, or anyone else for that matter.
I wouoldn’t give up Monta for Howard in any scenario unless it’s a sign-and-trade and they have Howard under contract for more than just next year.

That is true, for DHB’s part. But I seem to think that the WR Coach of the year will improve all receivers this year! At least I am hoping…wouldn’t it be great to see Ford, Moore and DHB just running down the field? Could be crazy…although that would also mean that Palmer needs to release friggen fast!!!

I don’t share the same DHB bias that you have. I think by the end of the year, he showed a lot of us that he was a reliable guy. All pro??? Not saying that at all. Size, speed, and overall physical play says he should be starting. Moore is a no brainer too.
I agree with Thec that Ford should be a slot player.
I also think we need to use Ausberry and Reece more in the passing game.
We have options.
Which is why I don’t see a loss in that area as a big deal. We hit on Murphy and Moore the last 2 years and there are PLENTY of good WRs in the league that were taken in the 4th rd or later.
March 12th, 2012 at 8:59 pm
Just stirring the pot folks.
I like Ford, but I don’t think he is irreplacable, and he is our best option to trade up in the draft, to draft SOMETHING THAT WAS REALLY KILLING US, our defense.
Did Jacoby make that much of an impact in the games he played last year? I can’t even remember what games he missed and what games he played in really. I know he fumbled in Denver to start the season, and returned a kick back against Cleveland. Ran a bad route in the season ender. Can’t really remember much else for 2012.
March 12th, 2012 at 9:00 pm
I like Ford. He is versatile. He has good hands. He wants the ball and will go after it. He seems to be fearless and will go over the middle. His salary is acceptable. Was his injury a fluke? I say keep him. He is better than DHB but not Moore. There was some banter about trading him for a draft pick. Please name me one team who will give up anything higher than a 4th/5th round pick. I know some lunatic will say “you can get a higher pick.” Again, tell me what team.

March 12th, 2012 at 9:08 pm
JFB,
I’ve been following the Knicks every game since the Lakers game. That dude Shump is the real deal. Dantoni is an idiot for not letting him guard Rose or whoever is the other team’s best guard. They let Lin and Davis play at the same time late in the game when they were down. Those dudes are both defensive liabilities. Shump can flat out play. We have too many softies on our backcourt. Klay, Ellis, Curry, and Robinson are all defensive liabilities.
March 12th, 2012 at 9:08 pm

Who does Brady have as play-makers?
It all starts with the QB. If Palmer has an all-pro year,we will have TONS of playmakers… Ford for a hot defensive LB or CB prospect??
I am not only all in… ALL ALL ALL IN!
If Palmer sucks next year, Ford will be irrelevant anyway..

If he didn’t return kicks… I might agree. Al didn’t need to pick Moore because of Ford, but beings he did… and Moore is better, we need to trade him for deeper needs.

You’re right–it’s not happening. He wouldn’t bring much. Look at what Brandon Marshall just brought to Miami. WRs don’t bring that much in draft choices.
The only route that makes sense is an exchange trade, one player for another. That way each team knows what it is getting and the needs of both teams can be met.

Just settle down, everyone! There will be a lot of names out there, after teams cut players to get under the cap. There are many bargains to be had, and there will be many players with a chip on their shoulders. The trick will be finding the right fit at the right price, given the proper motivation – oh, and some good coaching, too!
