Cartwright humbled, then back to business

Rock Cartwright insisted that in the business of the NFL, it wasn’t all that unusual to be receiving an award with a dinner in his honor by a franchise which may or may not want to retain his services for the coming year.

Brown on `Bountygate’

At the Commitment to Excellence dinner Saturday night honoring Rock Cartwright, I got the chance (OK, Paul Gutierrez from CSN-Bay Area was there too _ no false claims of exclusivity) to get about seven minutes with former Raiders wide receiver Tim Brown. Not exactly a wide ranging interview, but with Brown, it doesn’t have to be.

Raiders cut two players, clear even more salary cap space

Steelers offer proof of escaping from salary cap hell

Lease extension could be next

It’s encouraging that the Oakland City Council has approved $3.5 million toward efforts to redevelop the Coliseum complex in an effort to keep the Raiders, A’s and Warriors at home, as reported in Wednesday’s Bay Area News Group publications.
