Change in culture, not uniforms

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012 at 10:25 am in Oakland Raiders.

Raider uniforms will be essentially unchanged other than the Nike logo.

Take a look at this link.

No surprise, really. There was no way the Raiders were going to go Oregon football with the NFL’s most distinctive (and best) uniforms just because the league switched from Reebok to Nike.

Now if these new Nike cleats can keep Darren McFadden’s foot intact, the Raiders will be in business.

Just because I read it online doesn’t make it true young american. The jersey are changing despite what Mark Davis wants. He is not his father and will not fight the NFL. The whole NFL is moving to NIKE Jerseys that in itself is a uniform change. So in my own defense the uniforms are changing.

    =======================

The league is just using a new vendor. There is a new material for the collar, a material that stretches more for the jersey, and a new waterproof material for the pants.

No different than when then NFL switched to Reebok and the design stayed the same. The uniforms will look the same as they always have. The “Combat” and “Conquest” uniform designs were a hoax – concept drawings by an independent artist.

I agree with Jhill in that if we roll with a 3-4 Defense, this is a solid group of DE’s

    Kelly, Seymour, Bryant, Houston

just need a starter quality nose tackle …

if we go 4-3 (again) then we’ll need about 3 D-Line depth players and a few of them might already be on the roster

    73 Jamie Cumbie DT
    62 Hall Davis DE
    95 Mason Brodine DE
    97 Travis Ivey DT

The Seahawks new uni actually looks better. They had some ugly ones up there the last few years. So glad my team doesnt change its uni like the other teams in this league. Something cannot be touched. The Silver and Black is one of them.

The folks at Nike officially unveiled the new jerseys that teams will begin wearing in 2012, and for most teams, the changes are not too drastic. The most significant changes are the Seahawks new look, as they are filling in as an experimental group for Nike. I suppose we can consider Seattle the Oregon of the NFL at this point. The reaction has been mixed, to say the least, but it will be interesting to see how fans view it once they are being used in game-action.

For Oakland Raiders fans, the historic look of the Silver and Black featured few changes. The Raiders have a timeless look that did not really require much in the way of changes. Aside from the swoosh on the left arm, the only significant change is what appear to be bigger numbers on the uniform. That could also just be the angle of the picture. Whatever the case, the Silver and Black remains as it should be. Dark. Intimidating. Badass. What else needs to be said?
