Raiders confirm Tollefson signing
By Steve Corkran
Saturday, April 7th, 2012 at 1:36 pm in Oakland Raiders.
The Raiders announced the signing of veteran defensive lineman Dave Tollefson on Saturday. We reported last night that Tollefson reached agreement with the Raiders and the details were in the process of being finalized.
NFL.com reported that Tollefson signed a two-year contract that guarantees Tollefson $1.5 million and has the potential for a $3 million payout.
Tollefson, 29, is listed as a defensive end by the Raiders. However, he is versatile enough to play outside linebacker, end and defensive tackle, as he did for the New York Giants the past five seasons.
Tollefson also will play a key role on Oakland’s special teams, a role he fulfilled to great success with the Giants.
Tollefson takes the place of departed veteran end Trevor Scott, who signed with the New England Patriots. It’s still conceivable that the Raiders will re-sign veteran end Jarvis Moss at some point.

Again, more sacks than Wimbley last year (if you leave out #96’s four garbage-time sacks against SD) and better run defense at 1/10 the price.
Nice job, Reggie.

No chance. Even if the Mayans weren’t completely full of it (which they were), they didn’t put leap days in their calendar; the Mayan “December 21, 2012″ actually happened months ago.

YA,actually I heard last year where someone broke Romo’s stats down and he preformed better the more the game progressed-ie. he was better in the 2nd than the 1st qtr, better in the 3rd than the 2nd,and played his best in the 4th qtr of games.Hard to believe sometimes when you watch him but that is what the stats say.
–
That’s what I heard too but it’s hardto believe that if you watch him
April 7th, 2012 at 1:47 pm
Bruce Irvin could be a very solid 3-4 OLB, who could move to RDE in obvious passing situations. Probably too small as a full-time 4-3 RDE. Good player if the Raiders intend on being multiple, though.
It’ll be very interesting to see the kind of LBs the Raiders go for in the draft.

5- DE/ OLB: Cordarro Law

That’s exactly where he’s looking. In the late rounds, given the choice between the awesome athlete from an SEC school who underachieved all the time, and some smaller, slower guy from Podunk State who started all four years and had a ton of production, Reggie will pick the latter every time.

It was four sacks against a third-string OT whose number Wimbley had. This is not a normal situation and should not be used as a basis for evaluating his overall performance.

I would much prefer a player be atheltic and fast than unathletic and slow. You cannot coach speed and athleticism but you can most everything else. Just because a player has production in college in some small school does mean it will translate if he isn’t athletic enough. Going from small school to the NFL is a tremendous jump. If his athleticism is not there the chance of making it is next to nil…..to use Veldheer as an example is going the H/W/S angle. Veldheer is extremely athletic and fast for his size from that point you have something to coachup.
Anyone who thinks every team in the NFL team doesn’t use H/W/S as a measuring stick is very naive that is the ONLY reason the combine exist. Incidently the Raiders were the last team to join such combines, choosing to use their own scouting dept until the mid80’s.
Every drill at the combine gages H/W/S and athelticism if you haven’t noticed very little is actual contact or combative drills. It gages explosion balance and other athletic gifts to determine ones athletic prowess. If that is not and interest to a team why go to the combine? Just watch the tape. But the tape doesn’t tell all. The combine plays a large role in determining whether what you see on film is confirmed on a more personal level. That way determine a # of things from technigue to natural ability of the necessary kinds to compete at the next level. Only a small portion of draftable talent is invited the top teir. The rest are brought in to team try outs and prodays. But those exhibitions are critical in the overall evaluation. Because often on team you are surrounded by teamates who may hide your actual ability. It’s all a piece of the evaluation puzzle however anyone who thinks Height Weight and Speed aren’t paramount to any players evaluation by every team in the NFL. You are blind.

True, i think conditioning played a huge factor in that…even before all the injuries! Hopefully with our new “all world” strength and conditioning coaches, that will be fixed!

RAIDERDUCK POST-8,WHO SAYS THE MAYANS DIDNT ACCOUNT FOR LEAP YEARS…
===============================================
https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Gregorian_calendar
Leap Years are a function of the Gregorian calendar, which didn’t come into widespread use until after the Mayan civilization had been conquered by Pizarro.
—
Nobody can predict future 50 years from now .. How the eff can they predict future from so many years far away
———-
uhm,,, the Mayans didn’t have to include the leap year into their calendars. They did their counts with astrological knowledge, which they were the best at, even to this day, many of their calculations are extremely accurate. If not all.
The Gregorian calendar, and the leap year, were introduced after the Mayans, you are correct. But the December 21st 2012 date is a date that represents what the end date of the Mayan calender is according to OUR NEW CALENDAR. SO THE LEAP YEAR IS INCLUDED AND ACCOUNTED FOR BY US. THE MAYANS DIDN”T HAVE TO DO IT, BUT WE DID.
However, unlikely popular belief, the end of the long count in the Mayan calendar does not mean the end of the world. It means the end and beginning of a new era. If people would do a little research they will be educated to the fact that the Mayans viewed this date to be a purification date, and the date that their God returned from the sky. The piece that is missing from their writings is what happens when their God returned. That is something nobody knows, because there is no writings explaining it.
Later this year there will be a documentary that the Mexican government is releasing with information on the Maya and their calendar and end date that they have been witholding for a long time. It’s supposed to have information that has never been released to the public. Supposedly stuff that would affect all of humanity. As to why they are waiting to release this info, I don’t know. But it should be interesting enough to see what they have to say.
The Mayans were not full of crap. They were extremely advanced in astrology, that’s the study of the starts and planets, not the zodiac signs. For those of you who want to be funny about it.

Lefty12 Of course he has to know how to play that is the first order of business. That however does doesn’t gaurantee he can make it at the next level. The NFL grinds out greta football players like so much trash. Even the best players don’t always make it. Because it’s easier to fail than succeed, probably 5% of draftable players even get a chance at the NFL level. It’s about everything coming together for you as much as it is ability. Most have the ability to play football at that level but yet a myriad of things get in the way of success.

====================================
Former Falcons lineman Tim Green wrote years ago that 90% of combine drills reveal little or no useful information on a player’s actual ability on the football field.
A good example of that is having the players run sprints in singlets and track shoes. Who cares how fast they run when they’ll never ever be dressed that way on the football field? John Madden, when he brought players in for private workouts, would always have them dress up in full uniform, including helmets and pads, THEN run the 40. Everybody slowed down, but some would slow down a lot more than others.
Another more recent example is having Andrew Luck do a standing broad jump. When will Luck EVER be required to make a standing broad jump on a football field, and would anyone take him or not take him based on that? It’s ridiculous.
April 7th, 2012 at 2:53 pm

But Veldheer was also super-productive on the small college level. Contrast this to Bruce Campbell who had a better combine (possibly the best ever for an OL), but was very mediocre on the field itself.

But Veldheer was also super-productive on the small college level. Contrast this to Bruce Campbell who had a better combine (possibly the best ever for an OL), but was very mediocre on the field itself.
Reggie would have taken Veldheer, but never Campbell.
—————————————————–
Thats why Veldheer was taken in the 3rd and Campbell in the 4th, some analyst had Campbell going in the late 1st early 2nd because of his ability

I know this is very unpopular with a lot of us fans. Heck, even I don’t like the idea all that much. But do you guys think there’s a possibility that Reggie will trade DMac before or during the draft? Let’s say, to GB for their late 1st and late 2nd?
I don’t know, but I see him doing something like that.
On the other hand, I think that this is McFadden’s contract year, so there might be extra incentive for him to stay healthy and play hard. Which would be great for the team. But then what happens next year? Does Reggie let him walk? Everyone knows what he can do when he is healthy. And given that he is supposedly coming back at full strength, the trade idea in order to get something for him now might not be a bad one. Otherwise we are either looking to pay a king’s ransom for him next year if he stays healthy, or if he gets injured again, we let him with nothing to show for, when we could’ve gotten 2 good players now.
What do you think?

Truth is you guys don’t know who Reggie would take, it’s all speculation becuase you’ve never witnessed his strategy. Yeah you’ve heard talk, that is just talk. Everyone thinks their way is THE way. We’ll see what he’ll draft soon enough. Based on the GB roster he wwould draft many of the same players we have. GB has just as many bust as anyone else based on their draft record. The defense was horrible and they haven’t had a decent HB in years Grant wasn’t much better than Fargas for my money. Some of you are way overselling Reggie. I hope like hell you are right but I doubt he is everything you-all say he is.
This league is full of great personnel men of which he may be one. He isn’t anything I haven’t seen or exceeded anything I expected so far in fact he leaves a little to be desired. I think some of want so bad for him to succeed only to denegrate Mr Davis. IMO that is pointless, let him stand or fall based on his work. This is a tough business and he has a tall hill to climb and the chance he succeeds is 30% IMHO. And I’m being gracious. Players fail in some of the most amazing ways. It wont be because he picked a bad player it’s because this is a tough business. He will pick some bad playeers everyone does. The ultimate test is over time can he rebiuld this team when the time comes…………period

RaidO, if you don’t understand why those changes had to happen then you don’t know a whole lot about football – particularly how franchises sustain success.
Maybe Reggie McKenzie won’t get the Raiders to the Superbowl. But the way he does business is a whole lot better than the way it was done before. The Raiders are a real organization now, and they have a better long-term outlook than they’ve had in years.

Exactly. Notice how we’re able to now sign quality players WITHOUT wildly overpaying. Notice how our GM talks about who the COACHES want to play which schemes and positions instead of what HE wants. This is how things are done in sane organizations. Alas, this is not how Al (RIP) did things.

Hey, after the San Diego game most Raider fans were thinking get DMAC back and get a decent D cord Raiders are playoff bound. It would have been a do or die year for Hue. Failure would not be an option. It’s been a long road since 2003. The last 2 years the Raiders were finally ascending. Now with all the changes “they” have created a it’s ok to “SUCK” again situation. Yeah, blame on the new coaches. Blame it on the player changes. Blame it on the new scheme, etc, etc, etc.

Priest regarding #98
I have been reading your stuff for years. AD drafted JR and I knew that guy was going to be a bust he had a Ryan Leaf profile. Yet he took him… what a disaster. He drafted a kicker in the first round when he could of traded down to the forth. He let Art Shell and BB owner run a team right into the ground – they were lucky the did not go 0-16 that year! Except for the Gruden years he has been terrible since he hired Shannahan as a coach. One of the worst franchises statistically.
Was AD a great GM and Coach – yes but the last 25 years with the exception of Bo and Gruden was almost unbearable at times.
Last I checked GB won a superbowl the year before last and was the #1 Seed last year and has been a perennial playoff team. What have the Raiders done the last 10 years?
I actually like the moves Mck is making on the margins. Routt was overpaid and would have been exposed if he perineally had to cover a #1 receiver like a CB on a normal defense would. Wimbley was great but that was a poison contract.
Since you have been so irrationally positive about Raider teams over the last 15 years why don’t you settle down and give this a chance and look at the moves he is making objectively in light of the salary cap situation.

Has anyone else in history had to do this as a 1st time GM? Of course not because no one ever ran an NFL team like Al the Don. Al did not have much success late in his career but, since he built the franchise, he earned the right to go out on his own terms. Like it or not. R.I.P. Credit card companies don’t have the power to put us in jail themselves, but they do have the power to go to the courts and try and get their money from anything you own. Say like bank accounts and the like. And if you owe enough money, they will come after your house with liens and such. And eventhough that won’t put you in jail, it will put you on the streets.
But when you look back on it, it isn’t really the credit card company’s fault, it is our own fault for keep borrowing and spending more than we can afford. As evil as they are, it is us that ends up giving in to the carrot dangling in front of us.
If everyone stopped borrowing, there would be no more credit card companies.

The Texans averaged 24ppg last season, despite having a rookie quarterback play the last 6 games, and the loss of Andre Johnson for a good portion of the year.
Throwing the ball all over the yard can be effective if you have a Brady or a Brees. We don’t. We do have a pretty good QB, though, and one of the better running games in the NFL. He was smart enough to recognize what he had to work with, and hired accordingly.
If some of you are unable to grasp that, then maybe you don’t know as much about football as you think you do.

While this is certainly correct, and everyone is ultimately responsible for their own financial situation, credit card and other lenders have been sending unsolicited “preapproved” credit to citizens for years. And then changed the terms after the citizens have taken them up on their “offer”. It’s complete bullshi**. And Once again, they only do this because of the conservative mantra of buyer beware and everyone is an island.

Or you send it in on the 2nd, and somehow, miraculously, it does not arrive for 14 days. Even tho it is only going two blocks away. At which point they charge you $35 for a late charge since it didn’t clear on the “morning” of the 15th, and then jack the rate to 29%.

#168 – I do hate those “YOU ARE PRE_APPROVED!” letters. And as much as the credit card companies are at fault for making it seem like we need the money, some form of credit is needed unfortunately. That’s how most people buy homes and start businesses. It’s a very fine balance of co-dependency. But as we learned recently, tilt that balance one way or the other, and the whole system goes corrupt. Lend too much to make a profit, and people will default, borrow too much, and the same happens, don’t lend enough, and people will starve.

Some local governments already have, by declaring Chapter 9 bankruptcy. Sooner or later, states will start doing this as well.
And if we don’t curb our Federal spending by 40% (which neither party is remotely willing to do), the Fed will sooner or later lose its ability to borrow money. Get ready for massive (and I mean MASSIVE) defense cuts, along with Social Security and Medicare being means-tested to within an in of their lives.

First of all Mr Davis’ legacy speaks for itself, it doesn’t need me to defend it one bit. All I’m saying is allow Reggie to establish his without all the proud proclamations previous to his ever even conducting a draft.
Second his allowing Bush to leave angers me to no ends, I don’t think people understand the talent that kid has but you will and this season. All he’s done is cut cut cut the talent he’s brought in IMO is marginal. We may not know what he is for a few years and I’ll give him all of that time and then some. But stop with the early proclamations of greatness until we actually see some.

Bush is nothing special. He’s got a power back’s body and strength, but doesn’t try to move the pile like he should. Instead, he tries to unleash a bunch of shifty moves he simply doesn’t possess.
He’s a decent NFL running back, but nothing more. Goodson should easily replace him.
April 7th, 2012 at 7:36 pm
Duck you are clueless that kid ran for almost 1,000 yards on a bad ankle while DMC was nursing an injured foot. The Bears were so impressed they couldn’t wait to praise his arrival that defense of theirs has tremendous respect for this sorry halfdecent back we threw away. Bush was a heisman trophy candidate for a reason. His one game yardage total is the best in Raiders history…..wake up!!!
Goodson couldn’t carry his jock……….period
April 7th, 2012 at 7:42 pm
Priesttj: The more Bush ran, the worse he got. By the end of the year he was positively pedestrian. This is why the expected stampede towards his services never materialized. When he was the only one left, he came up small.
It’s too bad for all of us because if he had stampeded through the line like he has the physical ability to do, a bunch of teams would have coveted him. We could have franchised him, then traded his rights for some picks. As it stands, the best offer he got was to go to Chicago as Matt Forte’s BACKUP.
April 7th, 2012 at 7:44 pm
He was injured yet he played, a lot of thanks he gets from fans. But the Bears know what they got.
April 7th, 2012 at 7:45 pm
Bush is a good back, but he’s not a feature back by any means. The Raiders’ playbook became very limited when Bush was the only healthy running back. All of a sudden the off-tackle and perimeter runs didn’t work anymore. Bush’s YPC average dropped consistently once he saw 30+ snaps per game.
Honestly, the best (and most underrated) part of Bush’s game are his receiving skills, which are VERY good for a big back.
He’s great in rotation when you can bring him in in short yardage or goal-line situations, or late in the game when the defense is tired. But by no means is he a lead back. That’s why the market for him as a starter was so soft.
Would have been nice if the Raiders could have kept him around, but they would have had to use all of their salary cap space to do so. This team had too many holes to do that. And you can only restructure the contracts of mediocre players so much before you start hindering your ability to make meaningful moves in the future.
April 7th, 2012 at 7:46 pm
McKenzie didn’t allow Bush and Wimbley to leave. They both played a part in that. Bush wanted $7M, and Wimbley refused to take a pay cut. McKenzie’s hands were tied, NEEDING desperately to get under the cap (we were way over and time was ticking), and then had to create more cap room for FA signings and draft signings.
April 7th, 2012 at 7:47 pm
Exactly, YA. Bush is a good hammer at the end of a winning game. But he wanted to be paid and treated like a top-10 back, which he’s not.
April 7th, 2012 at 7:54 pm
It’s hard to believe how ignorant you guys are of a big back and how he must be used. Bush is used in shortyardage and goaline almost 50% of his carries he’s eithe rgetting a 1st down or attacking a goaling. He’s not supposed to make big runs yet he did and he was one the best backs out of the backfield. The best way to use him is with a scatback like TJ the change of pace makes him more effective.
The Raiders have always had a big back and scatback because of the dynamics of course if you only have one it’s more diffcult. But when you have both they are extremely effective bg backs with his skillset are very rare.
This is why I don’t waste my time in here………..BYE!!
April 7th, 2012 at 7:55 pm
I think we all will miss Bush. Regardless of what you may think of him, he was the perfect complimentary back to McFadden. I for one think that we will miss him if McFadden gets hurt. That is of course not counting on Taiwan to be a beast. If he turns out to be one, I don’t think any of us will be here asking why Bush was let go.
I don’t see Goodson as another Bush to be honest. From what I’ve read, he is somewhere inbetween McFadden and Taiwan to me. A speedy back, that can catch. Though he might be better at blocking than Bush. So we might have something there.
Still though, for what Bush was asking, considering our cap situation this year, I think he was a “sorry to, but must let go player”.
I wish him the best.

April 7th, 2012 at 7:55 pm
If anyone is too blame for not being able to re-sign Bush, it’s Al Davis. $3.5 million a year isn’t all that much in the grand scheme of things – unless you’re already paying $8 million a year to Huff, $9 million a year to Wimbley, $10 million a year to Routt, $5 million a year to Kelly, $5 million a year to McFadden, etc. etc. etc..
McKenzie has done a pretty solid job addressing the huge contracts that resulted in mediocre production. The Raiders are in a better situation going forward because of that. I don’t know how McKenzie is going to handle the draft, nor do I know what his offseason plan is going to be like when he doesn’t have to worry about overhauling the entire organization so that it can function like a legitimate business. But I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for now. We’ll see how things turn out. At this point, he’s done nothing that an objective person can criticize him for.
April 7th, 2012 at 7:58 pm

# 188 – good point on McKenzie.
The only thing he has not done is sign a big name to a huge contract. At least not yet. I think this is why people don’t like him. Because he didn’t fill any holes in the team with big money. He just went out and got boring yet fitting signings. This team has lost most of the “all about me” character players. There’s no really big egos and most players at key positions are vets.
Truth be told, this will be a very different team this season. So no one really knows what the outcome will be. And to me, there hasn’t been anything to tell me that the team will regress.
Though to be honest, the only move that worried me a bit, is the Knapp signing. Not sure what to make of that. But since this is a whole new system, with new coaches, and new leadership, I am willing to go along for the ride with optimism.

I like the Tollefson signing for depth and a 3rd down pass rusher but I would of gone after Amobi Okoye if I was Reggie. Okoye just signed a 1 year deal for $2 mil. wiht the Bucs.
April 7th, 2012 at 8:18 pm
Yeah, I’m not convinced that Knapp will work out either. But with coaches, it’s always hard to tell. Even the coaches who are regarded as the best in the league has resumes that are filled with places where they “failed”.
For a coach to succeed, it needs to be a perfect balance of an inventive scheme, finding players with the skills that fit that scheme, and then getting those players to buy in.
So far in Knapp’s career (at least as an offensive coordinator), the only place he’s found that balance is with the 49ers. We’ll see if he can do that here. As I pointed out in the last thread, I think there’s a good chance that his style will bring out the best in Carson Palmer. I also think the Raiders have the right pieces along the offensive line and in the backfield. If the receivers and tight ends continue to develop, the Raiders can make some noise on offense.

Whatup Lefty12! Well I really liked what we had in Bush Left he was rare. You cannot find 250 lbs back with his skillset. No he didn’t break big runs but that isn’ty his job. Yeah you can find a big back but not with his skillset. Probably never again.
Reggie is doing fine other than that and the assumption that Routt is some BUM!

Can’t build an organization by paying decent players as if they’re great. Because of the bad contracts McKenzie got rid of, next time the Raiders find themselves with a great player they can pay him accordingly.
April 7th, 2012 at 9:35 pm
That was Bushes role. But it was a role and if we paid him,we couldn’t get depth at other spots which has been our problem for too long.Once we build up the depth it will be a different story, but right now we need more decent players.
April 7th, 2012 at 9:36 pm
Lefty12 we had great depth last year unfortunately most of the frontline players got hurt and we had yto use the depth way too much. Guys like Boyd #21 and others got us BEAT. It’s not the depth I havew a problem with it’s the letting go of Bush IT WAS DUMB!!..[period

Priest look at what we had backing up at LB last year-terrible players that shouldn’t have been on an NFL roster.Thankfully we didn’t have any injuries on the Oline. We had a guy like Boyd starting.BTW,I agree with you on Routt.Watch what happens next year in KC when he doesn’t get so many bogus calls.

April 7th, 2012 at 9:50 pm
Lefty12 I cannot blame you for that but that doesn’t take away from his rare talent. The only ace in the hole is Reece hopefully the coach will see that he can take that spot. But you’ll need another FB as well.
But let me warn you Left to think Reggie is some magician man. Everyone is looking for depth in time he amy be able to get a lot of it done. But there will always be players you don’t want on the field it’s a fact of life.
April 7th, 2012 at 9:52 pm

It is going to be interesting to see what the new staff does with Reece.Does he stay at FB,become the back-up at RB,play some TE,or maybe be a jack-of-all-trades utility player.I love his talent and know they’d be better off finding a role for him.

sorry, as great of a backup as he was, it would be pointless to pay a backup rb starter money when we didn’t even have enough starting linebackers or cornerbacks. i’d love to have bush back for what he does too, but let’s face it, he was just a luxury til we couldn’t afford it anymore. he deserves his shot, but we can’t afford to be luxurious.

Why can’t we just thank Al Davis for all the talent he left his beloved Raiders with, Players like DMC, DHB, Ford, Moore, Reece, Veldheer, Lil Wiz, Shonasty, Houston, Kelley, Bryant, Branch and the list goes on, all Players drafted by Davis these last few years. Say what you want, but he was getting his groove back.
Let’s show the Man some respect. Why focus on the negative when we can focus on the positive.
All teams hit a rough spot, its how the NFL works, they had back to back 8-8 seasons, the last time they did that it was followed up by a really good run for a few years, Im still expecting that run to happen with Big Reg taking over. Its just to bad Mr.Davis won’t see these players take it to the next level, which will ultimatley end up in the SUPERBOWL once again…

DMAC won’t last a full season and will be on the IR by game 8. I hope we will be prepared for that. Also, DMAC plays great against bad teams, and looks like a regular fool against good/great teams. The best he could do against the Pats was 75 yds last year, and made 2 catches for around 20 yds. Nothing special there.

I think Reggie has done a great job so far given the circumstances. Here’s what I believe are the teams most pressing needs:
#1-linebacker
#2-defensive back
#3- defensive end
#4-offensive line
#5- back up qb
#6-wide receiver
#7-back up rb
I think #5-7 should be addressed through free agency as I think we need affordable veterans for these spots, leaving #1-4,to be addressed through the draft.
I understand and agree with the philosophy of drafting the best possible player regardless of position
April 8th, 2012 at 2:40 am
….regardless of position, however this year due to being in a rebuild and our lack of picks, I think we must address specific positions with each draft pick.
What does any else think about this plan?

It’s hard to believe how ignorant you guys are of a big back and how he must be used. Bush is used in shortyardage and goaline almost 50% of his carries he’s eithe rgetting a 1st down or attacking a goaling.
****************************************
Almost 50%????? Easily the biggest statistical fib ever posted on here.
Here’s his splits. Short-yardage, and 3rd and 2 or less, and 4th and 2 or less looks like it makes up about 15% of his carries, and that’s being generous.

What are the stats of him scoring when he gets the ball on the opponents 1 yd. line?
I don’t remember him doing so. We tend to remember the bad stuff about a player sometimes cuz it sticks out in your mind but I recall at least 2 occasions where he couldn’t even get one yd. With numerous downs in which to do it.

A friend of mine sat and chatted with the great Cliff Branch yesterday at some K-Mart outside San Fran.
He said he was the coolest guy he’s ever met.
It was a March of Dimes event I guess.

April 8th, 2012 at 6:52 am
PFT wouldn’t be doing this Poll if they didn’t like Sapp in the first place.
It’s weird how former Raiders in the 70’s and early 80’s felt a special bond with the Raiders and Al Davis and still do today, but after that alot of players have real negative opinions of the org. Sapp is an example. Gannon another and even Tim Brown.
I think Al Davis must have changed or something.
My buddy said Cliff Branch had nothing but praise for Al Davis; said “Al never played a down in the NFL. It wasn’t his fault they went thru this bad stretch”.
Although Gruden refuses to say anything bad about Al…even sticks up for him, there definitely is no special bond there.
Times have changed.

DJ, if Tim and Gannon had won championships for Al, they would have been treated like Raider legends. Unfortunately, Al’s bad management made that an impossibility. Of course, he blamed the players, and not himself.

Callahan didn’t help much with not counter-acting Grudens obvious knowledge of the Raider playbook.
Did he adjust at all?
I remember seeing footage of Gruden prepping the Tampa D and pretending to be Gannon at their practice’s before the SB. He predicted all his moves, what he’d be looking for, etc.

It’s been way too long since we last won a Super Bowl.
We were in like 4 Super Bowls, and countless playoffs/AFC games thru the first 20 decades.
It’s time we became a fixture again for 10+ years, like recent teams like the Giants, Patriots, Steelers have been doing collecting 2+ Super Bowls.

Since everybody reminds us that the Raiders greatness is so far in the past, maybe people should acknowledge that all this Dallas Cowboy “Americas Team” crap is as well.
In the past 18 yrs. they have won only ONE playoff game.
Raiders have won FOUR in that same time…as bad as we’ve been.
We don’t hear that stat very often.
April 8th, 2012 at 7:41 am
I can’t believe that point Priest tried to make above. What a bunch of garbage. Bush is a goal line back or 4th down back? He is not very good at that at all!!!!!!!!! We used to use of all people Marcus Allen for that and after that we got a guy I think out of UNR who we paid the vet minimum and that is all he did along with special teams. Can’t remember his name but he had a nose for the goal line or the first down marker. (I can’t believe I can’t remember his name – one of the few Raiders I actually met) My point in saying this is McFadden if he wants to can be pretty effective on 4th down or we can get a UDFA or low round pick that can play special teams and handle that role. We do not need Bush for that. Bush was frankly a poor mans feature back when your main one is injured and that’s it. I think of him as the Kyle Orton or Matt Moore of running backs.
April 8th, 2012 at 7:46 am
I’m not trying to remind that the greatness is in the past, just reminiscing that’s it been too long, and time to get back there. Like sometimes in real life we diverge and one day we stop and say, it’s been too long since I got smashed, acted a fool, been too long in this job, relationship, etc. Time for a change.
And yes, America’s Team has been an on-field joke too for about 20 years.
April 8th, 2012 at 7:47 am
By the way I liked Bush and if we had cap room and could get him at a decent but not stellar price that would of been fine. But if you look at what Chicago did they brought him in as a poor mans Matt Forte in case he holds out. Another thing, the day Bush got all those yards. With the way the line was playing etc… I think Gibson probably would of done just as well with maybe a fumble or two. There was a reason it took so long for Bush to get a gig.
April 8th, 2012 at 7:49 am
I have met Cliff twice out here in ABQ, he goes to Wal-Marts and sells stuff for the local children’s hospital.
One time I got a good 10 minutes with him, and asked about Al, Jamarcus and DHB. He was somewhat withheld but did get candid when he asked why so many Raiders aren’t in the hall. He was extremely passionate about the Snake deserving to be in.
Got some cool FB pics out of it, lol.
April 8th, 2012 at 7:53 am
I like Bush, but he is almost better as a starter than as a backup, even though he is not that great of a starter.
He can’t block, isn’t that great in short-yardage and doesn’t play any Special Teams.
He did look good over the years catching screens though and getting upfield quickly. I think that is when he is at his best, in space.
I won’t miss twinkle-toes, but he did play well for us at times. Great 4th round draft pick by Al.
April 8th, 2012 at 7:56 am
Branch should be in there!!!! 2SB’s with 2 QB’s playing a significant role in both. He should be in there before Brown. It is one of the biggest snubs of all time.
April 8th, 2012 at 7:58 am
I think Branch has three rings , and like 4 Super Bowl TD’s.
I am looking at his signed pic right here, of him cathing a TD against the Eagles (roasting Herm Edwards on the play).
April 8th, 2012 at 7:58 am
Due to injuries, we never got to see DMc and Bush used to their combined potential. One position can only cost so much. Reggie Mac seems to be trimming the fat off of the $$$ books first, then getting the best quality football players for the lowest price. I like that he is getting versatile players with special teams experience from championship teams. I like that he gave the HC full control over staff hirings and field operations. I like that he kept Saunders and OG Wiz. I’m looking fwd to seeing who he drafts.
April 8th, 2012 at 8:03 am
I stand happily corrected on Branch even a stronger argument for the Hall!! Better stats than that ballet dancer WR Swan in the same era! Amazing what one catch will do.

The problem with Bush is one of attitude. He has the power and strength of John Riggins in his prime, but he doesn’t see himself that way. He thinks of himself as a bigger DMAC, and he’s not. Unless he realizes the kind of back he is and plays accordingly, he’ll never be more than decent.
If the staff in Chicago can get him to use his power to move the pile, he’ll be great. But I’m not holding my breath.
April 8th, 2012 at 8:53 am
Regarding the short yardage back – the person I was thinking about was Frank Hawkins. Hawkins was actually before Allen and was a 10th round pick: Here is a short bio on him:
Hawkins’ football career began in Las Vegas’ Pop Warner system and continued through Western High School, where he was a star running back. After graduation in 1977, he earned a full athletic scholarship to the University of Nevada, Reno, where he played for four seasons and was a three-time All-American (Division I-AA) at running back, and twice the I-AA rushing leader. His jersey #27 was retired by the Wolf Pack.
In the 1981 NFL Draft, Hawkins was selected at the end of the tenth round (276th overall) by the champion Oakland Raiders. With the Raiders in Oakland and Los Angeles, he also wore number 27 and played in Super Bowl XVIII in January 1984. During that 1983 NFL season, Hawkins and running back Kenny King combined for 1,119 total rushing and receiving yards and 10 touchdowns, winning the final game 38-9 over the favored Washington Redskins. During his seven seasons with the Raiders, Hawkins was the second-leading rusher for three straight seasons, 1983-85.[1]
Nicknamed “The Hawk,” his 5,333 career rushing yards at Nevada ranks fourth all-time in NCAA history behind Ricky Williams (Texas), Tony Dorsett (Pittsburgh) and Charles White (Southern California). In 1997, Hawkins was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.[2]
They used Pete Banasack that way. Zac Crocket was probably the best one of all in the late 1990’s. The point here is they did not have to pay starters money to Hawkins or Banasack or Crockett. All three played special teams which Bush did not.

If it suited Sapps purpose he would embrace his time with the Raiders and that he was a part of it.
When Al passed, it was fashionable to say good things about him for a short bit. Sapp said he used refer to him as “The Great Al Davis” and Sapp made it seem like he and Al were close, when all Sapp has done is criticize the org. every chance he gets.
Sapp is mad that he sucked with the Raiders and thinks his time here will take away from his chances to get into the HOF.

Gee; did anyone appreciae what Houston has done of offense the last two years? And last season they were down to their third string (rookie) QB.
So just look for the Raiders to be more dynamic in their approach. BTW; remember what Houston did to the Raiders in 2010? I believe Knapp (a) prepared the Houston thrid string rookie to play creditably down the stretch last year & (b) contribute greatly to an injury marred (Johnson missed big chunks of 2011) 2011 season. So give the Raiders upcoming offense more of a chance than the knee jerk (Knapp had nothing approaching the talent in his first tenure in Oaktown) run the bum out of town greeting many of you are fostering (pardon the pun). . .
I would rather the Raiders employ a power blocking scheme but it makes it easier to run block. If Barnes again starts @ RT it will conceal his weakness as a run blocker. . .

I don’t think Chicago were suckers. He was the best available feature back left and represents insurance and leverage against Forte. They are making the best out of bad Raiders.
>>>>
I didn’t say Chicago was a sucker for signing him, I said Bears fans are suckers for believing he can be a comparable replacement to Forte.
But now that you mention it, they did overpay for him. A 5th round draft choice could be as good or better than Bush. Why?
He doesn’t pick up his blocking assignments.
He doesn’t hit the hole hard enough.
He is not fast enough to be a threat outside (hence all the teams sticking 8 in the box against us).
As big as he is, he’s actually below average in short yardage, which is almost impossible.
If I were a GM I wouldn’t spend more than a million dollars on him…
April 8th, 2012 at 8:56 pm
Bush is great in short yardage situations, but only when he’s fresh. When the Raiders had him playing every offensive snap, his effectiveness in those situations (and red zone/goal line situations) dropped off considerably.

I am no advocate of paying Bush huge money but he is more than capable of gaining at least 1200 yds on the ground playing an entire season and catching at least 60 passes. This is much better than DMAC has ever done.
Hue used Bush one dimentionally exclusively up the middle so it remains to be seen if he can be an outside threat. He does hit the hole plenty hard as demonstrated in gaining over 900 yds last year. In terms of blocking, even FB’s can’t do that these days, and so I am not sure how important that is.
Point being, when DMAC goes down between game 6 and 8 for the season, with whom will he be replaced? That question can’t be answered, and as likely as not, no one can fill his shoes currently on the roster.

O,
Define “sport”.
April 8th, 2012 at 10:08 pm
Sport (or, in the United States, sports) is all forms of competitive physical activity which,[1] through casual or organised participation, aim to use, maintain or improve physical fitness and provide entertainment to participants.[2] Hundreds of sports exist, from those requiring only two participants, through to those with hundreds of simultaneous participants, either in teams or competing as individuals. Sport is generally recognised as activities which are based in physical athleticism or physical dexterity, with the largest major competitions such as the Olympic Games admitting only sports meeting this definition,[3] and other organisations such as the Council of Europe using definitions precluding activities without a physical element from classification as sports.

He was a 4th LB on the field, plain and simple.
April 8th, 2012 at 10:13 pm
Bush really dropped off the last few games to the tune of 2 yds. a carry or thereabouts.
He’s ok. But we’ve gotten to the point if u find a guy who will actually get on the field and do a few things that they think they deserve a monster contract.
3.8 a carry is NOT impressive. They rank the top 50 rb’s and he comes in at 45 (for average per carry), but just cuz he takes the ball when he’s asked and stays healthy he’s this stud rb.
I think it’s a definite plus that he stays healthy and it’s the big thing i’ll miss about him.
He’s a capable guy. He’s an nfl back.
I give him credit for his toughness and durability and there’s something to be said for that.

Clearly you’re not suggesting that walking is not physical activity, are you?

April 8th, 2012 at 10:30 pm
My definition of a sport — granted, it’s only mine, but one that I get a lot of people to agree with — is that a true sport is such that the actions of a participant can have a direct affect on the performance of an opponent. A sport must also be an athletic event.
Now whether or not something is an athletic event or endeavor is a different discussion. Athletics can definitely involve individual performance against some common objective.

April 8th, 2012 at 10:37 pm
Sport is simply competition. Who’s the best at something.
Physical, yes. But in the sense that you are physically doing something.
Playing cards or dominoes wouldnt be considered sports because there is nothing physical about the competition.
April 8th, 2012 at 10:37 pm

Is a bowler an “athlete”? Guys with beer bellies are some of the best bowlers.
As far as pool is concerned, some of the better ones are old, fat (Minnesota Fats) and they can shoot the ball with a cigarette in their mouth.
With Golf? Tiger Woods strikes me as an “athlete”-with his approach to the game and the shape he’s in.
Then you’ve got John Daly.

Tiger Woods is supposedly an “athlete.” But Tiger is weak. As soon as he faced adversity (his wife), he caved. Tiger was well on his way on possibly becoming a billionaire, and when he was caught womanizing he went all-to-heck. Tiger made Elin; she was a simple nanny for Sweden’s best golfer who was friends with Tiger. Now she is worth $100M. So what if Tiger had some g/f’s on the side? All rich men as powerful as Tiger have that. I don’t care what he did in his personal life.
I don’t know why Tiger didn’t just come right out and thumb his nose at his critics. Elin, was a bleach blonde: platinum bottle blonde with black eyebrows. How sick is that? If you ask me she used him, not vice-versa.
So the Tigre lost his Mojo, and has never gained back his self image because he never had one in the first place. He’s no longer an athlete, he’s a pathetic loser.
I vote for John Daly!
April 9th, 2012 at 2:38 am
Hardline:
Whether you like to admit it or not, it’s still Tiger that drives the sport — it ain’t Phil, Bubba, or Louie! Tiger just let his personal life get the better of him — he’s still got more money than anybody (except for maybe Bill Gates). Maybe he’ll still win another major or two — maybe not. It sounds like he’s getting his life straightened out, which is good. Wish that a certain Raiders quarterback had been able to do the same …!!

The best part of the Mo Clarett story, is when he refused a 416K signing bonus (he thought it was too small) and got a Ricky Williams incentive-laden contract (it had Pro Bowl language and 1,500 yard season incentives) with no guarantees.

Tollefson got 2-years $2.5 million, eh?
I can live with that. My prediction was he’d get 2-years $3 million with the Titans
I guess Dave really did want to play for the Raiders. As long as we’d match whatever other offers he had on the table
Everybody who sits down with Reggie, walks away impressed
April 9th, 2012 at 7:05 am
We had chants like “Blood makes grass grow–kill, kill kill.” (our stadium was much like the Raiders…always had sand and dirt in it)
I once told a reporter that my ultimate goal in the game was to decapitate someone from the opposing team—pick up their head, find their parents and toss it towards them.
I knew because of my size; football would end in college–but I also figured a statement like that would def get me some interviews. The thing is, hitting someone as HARD AS YOU CAN, making them feel the pains a turmoil of your life is the EXACT SAME THING as trying to injure someone–which is why football is so cool, you can assault ppl with out getting arrested. Besides, if you back off or pu$$yfoot–that is indeed when most injuries happen.

If the former players weren’t suing the NFL, than this bounty thing would be laughed off by Goodell.
But since they are, he has to take a big public stance on it. There are billions, with a B, at stake here.

Tollefson is going to be a nice replacement for Scott/Moss. I like that he’s versatile and a good special teamer. Do you think Moss may still be in play, or is he yesterday’s news?
April 9th, 2012 at 7:13 am
Right now, there is no news on Moss, but it was reported, and I can’t remember from who, that Moss may still be resigned!

It’s still conceivable that the Raiders will re-sign veteran end Jarvis Moss at some point – Steve Corkran
Saturday, April 7th, 2012 at 1:36 pm
April 9th, 2012 at 7:16 am
Moss was a major disappointment last year.
He made one nice preseason play, he got Priest to hype him up, than he preceeded to play like garbage 95% of the time.
He was completely schooled by the Bronco’s and Tebow in that home game last year. Him and Wimbley.
April 9th, 2012 at 7:17 am
I like Chapman as our #95 we are thin at lb and nt, the linebackers we have are fairly young but all our hogs are older Kelly and seymore which makes me believe regmac gets us Chapman new young blood.
April 9th, 2012 at 7:21 am
Cool trivia item of the day:
Feb. 22, 1982: the day that both Spencer and Bartell
were born.
April 9th, 2012 at 7:22 am
Can we get Chapman in the 4th round? Maybe if we trade up?
Coming off the knee injury, and being really a 2 down, one trick pony, not sure if that represents good “value” at #95.
The only reason he has some added “value” to us, is because we don’t have anybody like him on the roster. The other teams that do, probably don’t look at him as an option in the first 100 picks.
My threecents there.
April 9th, 2012 at 7:25 am
@JFB
Jarvis Moss is exactly like the rest of our defense. terribly inconsistent. looks really good in some games, absolutely awful in others. Makes it tough for Reggie & Dennis to decide which players to keep and which ones to pitch out the back door imo.

What is Reggie Mck gonna say? He’s gotta hope that CP3 actually costs us another first round pick. That’s the only way that trade doesn’t go down as a horrible trade for the Raiders.
If CP3 costs us a #1 pick, I’d be overjoyed with the tradeoff, even if it’s not a Superbowl berth. I think everyone is pretty much of the mind that we lost a 2nd rounder next year.

AD, may he rest in peace, had a hard time recruiting anyone to come to Oakland unless it was a player on their last legs or he had to grossly overpay to get them. Whatever loyalty leftover from the previous regimes of the Raiders heyday had been replaced by opportunistic goons like Warren Sapp and lazy oafs like JaMarcus Russell. Even the wounded horses like Javon Walker were taking their spot in the gravy train. It was maddening to watch even though it wasn’t mine or anyone elses money. Al believed in these guys, “his guys”, and they weren’t loyal to anything but the paycheck.
Reggie Mck is 5 for 5, batting 1,000 on every free agent that visits him. You can’t ask for more than that. And he’s gotten these additions on a disciplined budget plan. Somehow he convinced some decent players to take a chance on the Raiders for reasons other than breaking the bank or as an alternative to playing in the Arena league.
Props to Reggie Mck this offseason!
April 9th, 2012 at 7:56 am
Wow, Mavs and Odom parting ways….kind of….so the Lakers traded Odom to the Mavs and in return got a pick they parlayed into Jordan Hill, and a salary cap exemption they sat on like greedy buttfks, and the Mavs got a player with a homely wife, fked up Dad, and who simply lost his mojo.
What a monumental trade!
In the words of Vick the Crick…..”Lamaaaaaaaaaaaaar, return to the Lakers……..Lamaaaaaaaaaaaar……this is where your inner warrior can be released!……Lamaaaaaaaaaaar!”
We will always love you with the Lakers Lamar…..and we know you have been through a lot in your life. Come back where you can have success…..but you will have to play of the NBA minimum…..hope you saved your $$$$$.

Raider O,
some of these guys don’t understand. put yourselves in Kam’s shoes. your boss, the man who traded for you and made you a starter and gave you a big contract passes away.
New CEO, General Manager & Direct Supervisor have been hired.
They want to pay you HALF of what you’re making right now, before you even get a chance to showcase your skills in this new defense, ran by somebody other than Al Davis or Chuck Bresnahan. Regardless of “market value” , thats an insult. a slap in the face. Kam was willing to do the same thing that Seymour, Huff, Palmer & Curry did – restructure. He just wasn’t willing to take a paycut. We could have restructured him and saved money against the cap. He was all for that, just didn’t want a pay reduction. who would??
Wimbley was in line for one last payday. Either finishing out the contract Al Davis gave him, or signing with another team and pocketing an extra $6.5 million in the process.
win/win for him. I don’t see how that makes him un-loyal? Kam Wimbley has no history with McKenzie, Allen or Tarver. Who says he wouldn’t have been loyal to Al Davis, Hue Jackson & Chuck Bresnahan?

Wimbley will get 10 sacks this season with Tenn. I’m sure they will not ask him to cover TEs.
April 9th, 2012 at 8:47 am
We traded for him to play RDE, but like ET said, due to our need for LBs, he was moved to SLB.
April 9th, 2012 at 8:49 am
Tollefson adds depth to the DE position, but he can’t replace Wimbley. You don’t bring in a guy with 10 sacks in 5 seasons to replace a guy who has 42 sacks in 6 seasons.
April 9th, 2012 at 8:50 am
Shaunasty gets 12 sacks, Houston another 10 sacks, Kelly and seymore get to the qb and the addition of Chapman as our nt will collapse the Pocket, fugg wimbley he will now be dressed as a smurf on Sundays, real men wear black.

Hwnrdr,
I think Wimbley will prove his worth this season. The guy was asked to do a lot with us. He was asked to set the edge, drop and cover, and rush the passer. Wimbley is not a LB, he is a DE/ nickel pass rusher.

The more I look at the NT position in this coming draft…I don’t think Chapman (316 lbs.) or Alameda (336lbs.) will be there at #95.
We need to start looking at ILB’s and OLB’s position for our 3rd RD pick. We could pick up a NT in the 6-7 RD…like
Nicolas Jean-Baptisie (335lbs.) from Baylor or Hebron “Loni” Fangupo (330lbs) from USC/BYU.

I agree with ET. You really can’t blame that one on Chucky (trust me I tried), but we didn’t have quality LBs capable of starting. We had Groves, Goethel, and R Brown.

Thought this was interesting from the Wheeler Q&A…
Q: How is the defense catered to your style of play?
Wheeler: Coach Tarver told me there was going to be a lot of blitzing, just a lot of mixing up things, not just standing still in Cover 2 like I did in with the Indianapolis Colts for awhile. Nothing against that, we had a great offense that kept the lead a lot. We were able to sit back in Cover 2 and rush the passer a lot because teams had to catch up, and we had two great defensive ends that did that. But I also like to rush the passer and everything from the linebacker position and coach Tarver told me that it would be some of that going on.

Raiders GM McKenzie: Cost of Palmer trade doesn’t bother meBy Gregg Rosenthal NFL.com

He knew that he might have to make the playoffs in 2011 to keep his job with a new power structure arriving in Oakland, so Jackson went all-in.
It didn’t work. The Raiders missed the playoffs despite giving up a first- and second-round pick for Carson Palmer. Jackson was canned, and new general manager Reggie McKenzie inherited a team with no high draft picks and even less salary cap space.
The Raiders have widely been derided for the Palmer move. It’s hard to imagine a methodical personnel man like McKenzie making such a maneuver, but he insists he has no problem with how things went down last season in Oakland.
“You can beat that doggone story ’til it’s worn out,” McKenzie told Peter King in this week’s Monday Morning Quarterback. “But I know this: We’ve got a quarterback we think can win the division and take us to the playoffs. Losing a one and a two doesn’t bother me one bit.”
McKenzie is wholeheartedly supporting Palmer because he doesn’t have a choice. What else can he really say? McKenzie can’t admit that the Raiders gave up too much for a player who too often looks like a league average starting quarterback. This is the hand McKenzie was dealt. We highly doubt he would have made the same trade.
“Never thought, ‘Woe is me,”’ McKenzie said about taking the job in Oakland. “I just figured, ‘We’ll find players.’”
McKenzie has done a nice job thus far making tough decisions and signing some low-cost free agents. His ability to find players, however, is less important this season than the ability of Palmer to prove he was worthy of such a big investment.

thats what we call the marriage scripture because usually you make that vow prior to sealing the deal. I agree with Jhill. agree, with a slight amendment. I could care less what my wife does for work or if she works. same goes for me, she just wants to be provided for, by whatever means necessary. Key point there is having eachothers back no matter what. Gotta support eachother in good times & bad. Cant be fighting all the time, just because you didn’t get your way. it takes some being selfless & humble. I care about my wife and I want to make her happy. my needs are always second to hers, and vice versa. it drives me nuts that she takes so long to get ready, but I know she wants to look good for me. gotta have a mutual respect and treat her like u wanna be treated.

RO – Marriage is not easy but that thought process is not correct brother.
For those who believe in God there are two covenants you will enter. One is the covenant with the church before God, professing to follow Jesus Christ as a Christian. And, two is the covenant that you make before God when you enter the covenant of marriage with your wife.
Both are very important and both get attacked very hard by Satan. I know it is not always easy to love the wifee. There is no way you can love God with your whole heart and not love your wife or your children’s Mother.
When you marry your flesh and your wife’s flesh becomes one body. When you divorce it is like splitting your flesh in half. That is why it takes most people a long time to heal after they divorce.
Search your heart brother! : )

Iagree with others who have said marriage is not easy. It’s not. Maybe the toughest thing I’ve had to do. It’s a grind most days. A lot of work, a lot of sacrifice. You end up being good at one aspect of your life at the expense of another. You try to balance it, but it gets unbalanced in hurry. Sh!t happens, you adjust on the fly. There’s always some collateral damage when you try to juggle it all. You make everyone else happy, and you are miserable. You make yourself happy and someone is going to be mad. Actually, marriage comes easier to some than others. For me it takes a lot of time, effort and understanding, but at the end of the day the rules are the same for all of us.
My marriage became better and my life became better as I continued to search my own heart and deal with the man in the mirror. Most men and women who marry look for the spouse to be more compassionate and holier then they are. It does not work that way. A change of heart comes one step at a time.
It easier for me to give to my family and make sacrifice because God/Jesus did it and does it for us everyday. Plus, my parents done it for me so I just feel that is the way it works. If you/we looked hard enough I bet our spouses would be saying they make sacrifices as well. I no I am not RR but I just wanted to share my two cent brother.

I never quit trying. I do my best and know that I’m not perfect. I know she’s not either. we don’t expect that from eachother. You each give 110% and expect nothing in return. We get in fights and stuff, but we both know at the end of the day no matter what it is we’re gonna make up and be together. We own up to our mistakes and attempt to correct them going forward. like you said, not easy. I don’t rely on her or anybody else for my own happiness. God gives me joy, peace & purpose. As Raider O stated earlier, we humans are flawed and prone to sin & mistakes (call it “human nature”).

April 9th, 2012 at 10:56 am
@588,
RRS, like I said earlier, sounds like both my wife and I and kids could use a good healthy dose of church more often than we do. With the sole exception of religion, our situation is pretty much spot on the same as yours. The difference is this quote in your post:
“God gives me joy, peace & purpose”

@ RRS, I can respect that faith/religion is important to you. I wish I was as religious as my upbringing.
I stopped trying to be that perfect father/husband/friend long ago. Maybe a dose of religions what I need.
^^^^^^^^
That’s the hardest thing about marriage. Constantly sacrificing to make others happy, while the happiness of oneself deteriorates.

Thanks Ed Teach, no apology needed. I am in a sullen mood today. Sorry. Everyone has their own problems. I don’t mean to be a downer. I’d like to think that God is with me now like you say. I’ll be fine. Carry on.

hey now, if I was a single man I’d be looking for a woman like my wife.
tall & thin blonde with blue eyes. great family. same beliefs & morals as me. great cook. she’s a great mom to our son. loyal. trusting. great in the sack. plus her family is all Chiefs fans, but she all about the Raiders since we got married and wants our little boy to be the same way. she never cared about football before we got married. now she wants me to grill on Sundays and watch the games together. booyah!
at times she needs to work on her attitude and temper, but so do I. So I can live with that

The fact we haven’t even sniffed in Franklin’s direction has me convinced that Reggie’s taking an NT in the draft with the intention of starting him Day 1. If not Ta’amu or Chapman, then maybe Hebron Fangupo from BYU in Round 4 or 5.
Even if we’re staying in a 4-3, we still need an actual NT, and Kelly ain’t it.

Got my hot new boy band, 2 Kewl 4 Skool, packed in the tour van, headed to rehearsal in Hermosa Beach.
Today, after we finish blow drying and styling our pubes, we’ll get to work on some sweet dance moves. Everyone’s been fitted with brand new knee pads and jock straps to keep our swag tight
Yo KNOW we got Olive Garden catering lunch, wizzle. Nothing says multi-platinum boy band like dropping humongous Italian-inspired turd pies
I also gotta start actually working on some 2K4S music soon. Got some lyrical ideas floating around I might drop on the blog a little later.

Yeah raiders have other needs like CB and RB. Not sold on the current DBs and if or when DMAC goes down Jones and Goodson?. Jones cant block and Goodson does not hold on to the ball. That is if Goodson even makes it past preseason. It could get ugly unless Reggie brings in another RB. I don’t see Jones carrying the full load like Bush.

Yo, just slightly strained my sphincter on that last dance move. Took a few Advil and pouring a top shelf margarita for healing purposes only
Gives me a little time to bust our some lyrics while the rest of 2K4S rocks the rehearsal room. Yo, their moves suck but our pubes look way tight
Check it, this one is called, “Uh, sorry mom, but that ain’t no ruler”
Whatever, Mom. Gym class blows
Geometry, Chemistry … ah shucks, who knows?
But there’s one thing I got that couldn’t be cooler
Yo, check out the weight of my 12 inch ruler
This song is obviously referring in a subliminal way to a trouser snake. Gots to keep it real, y’all
