Raiders going extra mile for Oakland public schools

By Steve Corkran
Saturday, April 28th, 2012 at 11:09 am in Oakland Raiders.

Raiders chief executive Amy Trask visited the media room a short time ago to hand deliver the news that 10 percent of gross proceeds from new season-ticket sales from May 1-June 30 will be given to the Oakland Unified School District.
“We are thrilled to announce our newest youth and community-based initiative and we are delighted to assist the Oakland Unified School District,” Trask said in a press release.
Quite a gesture from the Raiders, to say the least. It’s even more impressive when you consider the Raiders are donating 10 percent of the gross proceeds before the NFL takes its 34 percent cut.

Wow I bet the Panthers had Burris ahead of Marshall on their board. I don’t think he would of lasted till 13th in the 5th.

    +++++++++=

You may be right…Was a run a lb’s good thing guys like me have zero influence on our big board. Could have missed out on a really good player.

  • ENGLANDRAIDER

Ten per cent of gross will donated by the Raiders to the Oakland USD?!

That’s a great move by the Raiders.
Does that tell us that the team is staying in Oakland?

  • guest123

I think Marv Jones will slip to the 6th

    Trade!

  • DKnight007

Never know, McK might consider trading down here if he gets a decent deal and if there a bunch if players he likes still on the board, that are rated evenly.

  • SharkCatcher

2 for 2 ..so far…The next pick will be a Punter…(lecher 38) ha…..all seriousness Think it .will be a safety to back up Huff

  • beach

Let’s see if we get a surprise pick for the 3rd time.

It says they’re making a concerted effort to mend their bridges with the Oakland populace. Well done, Mark. Money for schools is always a winning issue.

    J Jackson is still available?

    **************
I meant Jags not Panthers… Sorry

  • DKnight007

Mossaqui, Johnson, Winn I would think McK should be considering, but who knows what McK’s GUT is telling him now…he might be hungry.

  • YoungAmerican

Jags were actually really high on Tahir Whithead.

  • RaiderRockstar

I think we can get Fangupo or NJB at #168

I like Kaddu, Sammy Brown, Cam Johnson or Massaquoi with this pick!!

  • Thec

Lots of good players still on the board…the org will make good on ALL these picks…

  • 1960AutumnWind

#63 Burris would have been gone! Jags would have had Burris higher than Marshall – similar teams regions etc.. Burris the better player.

  • beach

Man, the Chiefs may steal our guy.

  • guest123

I’m not too keen on Cam Johnson. Word is he’s got health issues.

Obviously, Reggie didn’t think we could wait without losing the player. Besides, we have CBs (although their quality is yet to be determined). We don’t have LBs (and Burris helps a lot).

  • DEATHROW 55

I bet Kc gets a player we want.

  • Lowdown_in_Beijing

    KC milking it…get on!!!

  • YoungAmerican

    Yep, there goes Menzie.

  • PKRaider

I think we go secondary here. Antonio Allen or Iloka

  • http://000 Bob Marley

David Shaw was my pick for Head Coach, he’s ready and should get an NFL job soon, I like Allen, hope he works out but we missed out on a good one.

  • hellsbells

Ping to be safety from Boise or a nt

  • YoungAmerican

Raiders met with Menzie at the Senior Bowl.

  • beach

MASSAQUOI AT 148. Come on Reggie!

  • RAIDERMAN99

Don’t know squat about Burris but I’m glad we took a LB.

Going into 2012 with just Slow, Curry, Wheels, Goethel and Ihenacho was a disaster waiting to happen.

    As for Leinart ?

    He STINKS.

A savvy QB can get by with marginal arm strength.

Problem is Leinart’s helium balls make Chad Pennington and Kellen Moore look like they’re throwing Nolan Ryan fastballs.

    Hell NO to Leinart.

I’d rather lose with TP and find out what he can do than waste any time on Leinart.

  • nwr8r

    Billy Winn

  • beach

We need d line depth badly, Reggie!

  • Raider Riff

O, I answered your question on the previous article.

    marley, great call on shaw.

boss01, yeah, i’d love to hear romonowskis take on things so far.

  • DKnight007

Billy Winn is considered a high motor, high efficiency tough football who just needs to be coached up on some technique.

Might be McK’s type of player at this point in draft?

  • DKnight007

Winn can probably hold the edge as a DE in 3-4 looks as well.

  • guest123

    Menzie ran a 4.67 40

  • DEATHROW 55

    Here we go

  • JLofty

I’d be good with the DE from BST

  • beach

    83. Massaquoi is my first choice, Winn 2nd.

  • Lowdown_in_Beijing

    Sweet!

  • hellsbells

    Trade

  • YoungAmerican

    Trade?

  • nwr8r
