I have no sympathy what so ever towards NFL players.
===============================================
No, they didn’t know that.
Did they know they’d get beat up? Of course.
Did they know they’d get arthritis early and whatnot? Sure. I remember reading an interview with Eric Dickerson while he was still with the Rams saying “I hope they’ve cured arthritis by the time I retire, because I’m gonna have it big-time.”
Did they know they’d suffer brain injury after brain injury, and either end up with no short-term memory (like Jim McMahon), living under a bridge (like Mike Webster), or stricken with horrible depression and psychotic breaks (Andre Waters)? NO.

DMAC,
My son, 6′5, 240lb, was recruited to play baseball for a major private university in Los Angeles. Being a stand out QB in high school he was courted by that university’s football program, the director of which thought my son might have promise as a tight end.
It was I who made the decision on that because my son was only 17 upon entering his freshman class. Given the risk/benefit ratio of playing college and/or professional football, I denied permission for him to try out. I am glad I did so.

Wang’s parents were both track and field athletes for China at the 1984 Summer Olympics. His younger brother David Wang also plays football for Virginia Tech.
Wang is the first full-blooded ethnic Chinese player drafted by the NFL, and can speak Mandarin. Previous NFL players of mixed Chinese descent include Walter Achiu, Timmy Chang, Patrick Chung and Kailee Wong.

However, and this in no ways attacking you DMAC or JFB…My cousin committed suicide back in 2002! I am still upset about it, but let it pass. My brother in law came to me and said those words and kept on…one of the last times I EVER wanted to strangle someone to death! Like I said, I agree with you all saying that it’s selfish. Until this day, almost 10 years ago (it was in December), I am not sure if the family knows why. Raiders signed T/G Ed Wang, formerly of the Bills.
A fifth-round pick in 2010, Wang was out of the league last season after failing miserably in two training camps and six spot appearances during his rookie year. The Raiders figure to try Wang at guard after the Bills misdiagnosed him as a tackle. He’ll be an extreme long shot to crack the final 53.

tithing is a Biblical principal. God gives you 100% of your income. Your give him 10% back. That usually goes to your local church, if you attend. A lot of people claim to be Christians, but don’t go to church. They watch these tv preachers instead looking for spiritual nourishment.
If you’re not going to church, you’re probably not paying that 10%. thats why these preachers are asking for it. It’s an attempt to get you to obey God’s command, not guilt the money out of your wallet. But i’m sure you are correct in that there some scammers out there. Seau commits suicide. Who really cares? I know I don’t. I will not pass judgement on his mental state or if he even thought of those he left behind. He was a grown man and could definately make his own decisions. If suicide was the right choice for him, the so be it. Its the Seaus’ family business.

Anybody else depressed to see the 2013 Mock Drafts have the Raiders in the top 5 picks?
Don’t think the team will slide back that far after two 8-8 seasons. Offense should be improved even with Bush leaving – esp. if the main pieces can stay healthy. Defense is still a question mark but hey it couldn’t get much worse. Ranked 27th against the pass and run. Plus defensive head coach should help a little bit…

We can all agree that some are mentally tougher than others. Some kids are born and surviving today that they would have died in the years past. But nobody is mocking them for taking advantage of advanced medicine to live and thrive. The same goes with mental strength. Some are stronger than others. Those weak ones need help. If you see a friend or family that shows these symptoms help them. I wouldnt call them a coward. They’re sick.

May 2nd, 2012 at 3:22 pm
I wont go into too much detail about myself, but I can tell you guys first hand that the high from being a paid athlete is like no other.
When the season ends there is a huge hangover and comedown. I used to think that the offseason depression was tough until I walked away from competition and boy did I get a wake up call.
It literally took years to feel “normal” again and to be honest, you never really replace what you had and you never really grow out of it. In your mind, youre always a 24 year old stud and as you get older, watching old tapes or looking in the mirror really hurts.
Seau is not and will not be the first guy that just couldnt handle regular life. He was born to play football and the comedown was too much to bear. Seriously, he enjoyed the game that much. Steroids might not have had anything to do with his suicide.
Im not going to pretend to know a damn thing about the details of his death. Im just providing a lil insight into the mind of an athlete and how hard retirement is. It’s kinda unexplainable. It’s facing your own mortality.
Someone smart once said that pro athletes are the only people on the planet that have to die twice. I feel that is the perfect way to put it. For some, as in Seau’s case, dying the first time was too much to handle.
May 2nd, 2012 at 3:24 pm

Lot of “jaded DMAC’s” out there….it comes with the territory. That’s just their opinion, because none of us “knew” Junior Seau, but we respected him as a competitior, and his loss is worse for the game that has more “jaded” fans now that care little about its history or legacy or feelings.

Always love seeing a Hokie get signed by the Raiders. Wang might be a decent option in the ZBS, since it requires some decent nimbleness and athletic ability.
If I remember correctly, Wang spent his first two years or so at Virginia Tech as a TE, so he is nimble, and can take over those Khalif Barnes redzone looks!
