    Johnny,

Al Davis was the worst GM in professional sports over the past 20 years. Reggie will have to do a lot more than sign a couple of Heisman winners to be as bad as Al. The main difference is that Reggie is building a core team plus the Heisman winners. Al built his entire team on a couple of heisman winners and a bunch of track runners.

Al is the greatest. He left us in great shape. Not being on the field was a tough setback. It took him awhile to learn how to run a NFL team from a bedroom at the Hilton Inn but he was doing it.

Do owners and GMs honor their contracts?
The NFL is a business, and that’s why players have agents. Owners and GMs are trying to save money to increase their profits, and players want the most they can get for their services.

What about the connect on the bomb you left out?

Or the fact that he was connecting accurately on a lot of his passes?

Alex7, how much more do you know than the Raidsd coaching staff???

Seems all the reports from the org and OTA’s regarding TP is polar opposite than what you have been posting….

  • alex7

Aaaaaand he’s still the 3rd string QB.

History. His passing history. Repeat. Rinse. 3rd string.

Cam Newton SEC record-breaking passer he isn’t. Why so hard to accept he sucks as a passer, as his history suggests?

Reece had 5 catches less than dmoore. Blocked just fine for dmac while he was leading the nfl… The fact that he still has WAY more potential than production is a good thing.. He deserves a new deal.

    ****

Agree Reece has great potential and is a fine lead blocker for DMAC–maybe the only lead blocker fast enough for the impatient DMAC. But he would still be a better blocker if he got tougher and more physical and he would catch a lot more passes for a lot more yards if he learned the finer points of being a receiver out of the backfield. He could learn those kind of things, along with the new coaches’ schemes, by getting to OTAs and then he’d be productive and make a lot more money next year. He has no leverage to get more money now. There are smart times to hold out and dumb times and most signs point to this being a dumb time to hold out for Reece. A lot of ERFAs are holding out no doubt, but most don’t have a new coach/regime and much more potential than past production like Reece.

However, I can see why he wouldn’t want to sign a waiver like Bryant. If I were his agent I would tell him to sign the best deal he can get now and get to work at becoming the big producer that will mean big dollars as soon as next year

  • alex7

if you want to be impressed by a 9-route throw, knock yourself out.

and the article talks about Pryor…talking. “Looked pretty sharp”?

Yet we signed a backup QB. Pryor not even having the confidence of the coaches to be a BACKUP qb. Think about the lack of talent in backup QBs. And Pryor not even good enough for that position.

Ahhh yes he is currently 4rd however, based on your past post he had zero shot. 180 degress diffrent than what his QB coach says…

I am glad we brought in another QB. The linert move makes a ton of sense for a lot of diffrent reasons.
Linert knows the knapp O as he has been at it for 3 years. also Linert can help both palmer, and TP as he knows the O from a QB perspective and can provide intel on some of the nuances. Linert will also push TP to work harder…This was a win win IMO…

  • alex7

heard Curtis Painter looked sharp last May.

I’m also glad we brought in Leinert. Not saying I’m not.

But it does say something when you feel the need to sign competition for the BACKUP.

You know Leinert’s winning that #2 spot.

    You know that.

Not great at it, but better than TP. Not to mention maturity, trust of the coaches, more collegiate success, NFL success…

  • alex7

Owen’s on his 3rd team in 4 years. He seems like a tough dude, but wonder why all the bouncing around.

  • Professional Raider Fan

I dont know if I can get behind all that is going on in Alemeda. I love the Raiders because of Al Davis. Now that he’s gone, I dont like to see people tearin down his lifes work. I shared the ups and the downs with Mr Davis, and to see someone come in afresh is await to be seen. People diss on Al Davis cause they are fair weather fans. True fans weather the storm. As long as Reggie and Mark keep Mr Davis in mind, I’m OK with it. But once they start bashin him, then the honeymoon is over.

    Agreed…

  • alex7

the FACTS say TP completed less than 50% of his passes vs legit D’s in college.

Aren’t those the ONLY facts we have to go by as far as his passing skills are concerned?

Has anyone ever been below 50% in meaningful games over 2 seasons as a college QB and succeeded in the NFL?

  • Try Some Reality

Arguing about who will be the backup? lol. Nice to have Palmer around. No question as to his ability and his status as #1.

As for the backup, who cares as long as TP continues to improve and Leinart gives us a chance in case anything happens to Palmer. By all accounts, they liked his progression in Texan land so why hate on him?

  • realtruraider

Sounds like the offense had a good OTA today, I didn’t hear much about the Defense but maybe thats whats expected in OTA’s. Im really interested to hear about the Defense, maybe next time we will hear about some of these new players on defense

  • DJ Johnny

ESPN did a report on the Raiders tonight and then analysis after the camp report.

Schleureth and Merrill Hoge were asked what Raiders had to accomplish to “win” the Palmer trade. Schleureth said “multiple AFC West tites” and Hoge said “Well you’re from Denver Mark so I know it hurts to say it, but for the Raiders to win the Palmer trade the Raiders have to win a Super Bowl with Carson Palmer”.

I don’t care about their analysis of the Raiders cuz I think they bother to do their homework on us. They hear a few things, maybe thumb through a report, but it was interesting to hear mention Raiders and Super Bowl in the same sentence and not have it be a punchline.

  • DJ Johnny

I realize Raiders gave up alot to get Palmer but it seems his name can’t come up without mentioning what we gave up to get him.

Do you guys EVER hear mention of what Chicago gave up to get Cutler?

-TWO 1st round picks (non conditional) AND a 3rd rounder PLUS Kyle Orton.

I NEVER hear anyone talk about the pressure on the Bears to win a Super Bowl becuz of that trade…NEVER.

Noone ever talks about what they gave up.

I guess with Buffalo paying Fitzpatrick 55 million they’d better win one as well, and how much time do we allow Washington before they MUST win a SB for what they gave up for RGiii?

  • realtruraider

Yeah DJ I saw that too. later they picked who would win the AFC West and Hoge actually picked the Raiders and you can guess who Mark picked.

  • http://www.raiders.com Raider O

Mark is a hater and Hoge called him on it.
    Pu$$y!

  • DJ Johnny

RealRaider, I didn’t see that part (Hoge’s prediction)but it was funny when he said that Vince Young would not be able to “surplant” Fitzpatrick in Buffalo.

The word is “supplant” of course. I know i’m nit picking but when someone as cocky as Hoge is screws something up like that i can’t help but find it amusing.

  • DJ Johnny

I give Hoge credit for picking Raiders. He obviously took the time to do a little bit of research on us.
