interesting that Bucky called Miles Burris our most “questionable pick” … when most Raider fans seemed to think he was our best pick!!
    ++++++++++

He looks outstanding on youtube…..but we know how that goes right Michael Mitchell?

I didn’t see much of him covering anyone in that video, and I think he may have issues with that in the NFL….but hey, he is a late 4th rounder…..if he contributes at all, he will be a good addition. (it wouldn’t surprise me to see him moved to MLB and push Slowlando for a job)

  3. bcz24 Says:

We could use another “camp arm” or potential practice squad candidate imo – especially since Leinart is injury prone, as JFB pointed out last week
    ******************
Not so necessary for QBs as other positions. QBs don’t get hit in camp, and another arm is just a guy taking valuable snaps away from Pryor. We may roll with 3 just to get the extra work in the new system… just a thought anyways.

And to those guys hating on Leinart, the Texans were very comfortable making a playoff run with him last year (until he was injured). They didn’t really dump him this season, but they had far too many important free agents to retain/replace to be concerned with their backup QB. I think they would have liked to keep Leinart, as many have pointed out, the kid has grown up and takes football a lot more serious. Anyone doubt that he is a far better backup than Boller?

    Draft Grades

    thoughts ??
    ====================================

It’s pretty easy to see what McKenzie is doing. McKenzie wants versatile guys who love the game. That’s what he got. No longer the HWS specialists who cash their checks and can’t get off the training table. You look at a guy like Jordy Nelson that RM drafted in GB. Guy was not overly fast, just productive and he has been productive at this level.
I think they did a couple of things in their lst draft, got the type of player they wanted, and then asked Wiz who on his Penn State roster he thought could play at this level. Since Wiz has been around the pro game his entire life, he would have been a good person to ask. And then they went and got those guys.

  5. RaiderRockstar Says:

Tony Bergstrom is a big, physical road grader with the potential to crack the starting lineup at guard

As a big, physical blocker with a nasty demeanor, Bergstrom will add toughness to the Raiders’ gritty offensive line. He will vie for a starting spot as a rookie and could be a long-term solution at a perennial problem area for the team.

I hope this is true, because I question whether or not he’ll be able to unseat veteran zbs expert Cooper Carlisle at guard who has only missed 1 start in the last 9 years!!

Interesting debate on the skeptism of the new Reggime last night. With some AD loyalists chiming in that DA’s done nothing yet. And that too many people are hanging on the Reggime’s nuts.

But tell us what we are supposed to do? I don’t think it’s instant loyalty or lack thereof to want a new direction. This team sorely needed it after AD’s death and Hue’s megolomaniac ways. Who knows if Allen is the long term answer. Maybe Reggie has him on a short leash and is looking out for his successor right now?
    ……

I hope this is not the case. The Reggie and Allen have a plan. They need to stick to it. It may take a few years to see the system start translating to wins.

Sometimes it takes more than 1 season to get things rolling.

It’s been such a proud franchise that was the spirit of the old fighting Al Davis for so long. It’s hard to remember a year when we all weren’t confident that Al would make a big free agency splash or trade that would supposedly spark a one-year turnaround.

I get the feeling that the new Reggime is thinking this team is still a few ingredients short of making a good western omelet. It’ll take some time, some picks, maybe some coaching shuffling till Reg gets it right.

I guess you completely neglected to read the rest of my post. Like I said. Houston had cap problems, and a ton of impact players on free agency, they lost a huge amount of talent and had to focus on replacing those starters. Obviously cap concerns played into it, or do you think the chose to go with an undrafted nobody because he was the best option available.

looks like Dakota has already addressed this. Also, I would appreciate it, if McClain could show some leadership. Perhaps a few forced fumbles or fumble recoveries. Some tackles behind the line of scrimmage. body slamming a Rams receiver half the size of Nick Miller, getting a penalty for it and then watching them march down the field for a TD doesn’t inspire me. watch that game again. Mike Huff is laying the wood on Steven Jackson over & over again in the open field. take notes

I was all for trading Bynum for Howard….mainly due to defense and Bynum’s injury concerns….but now it turns out Howard has back issues, and that stuff does not go away.

Not to mention the diva attitude. Oh wait, they are both divas.

    —-

So if they both have injury concerns, both have attitudes.. You take the better one right? lol

    No brainer.

And at least Howard’s issues arent on the court. So that would be a steal for you guys.

It wont be straight up though..

  70. RaiderRockstar Says:

if Hue Jackson had any say, I’m sure Kyle Boller would be the 3rd QB in Cincy behind Andy Dalton & Bruce Gradkowski. Zac Robinson & Tyler Hansen would be on the first train out.

  72. Dakota Says:

Don’t worry, the Lakers are out of money according to Jim Buss, so we will not be trading for Howard, or adding any good players to the team this offseason….we will be dumping Gasol, Sessions and Artest this offseason and just watching Kobe Bryant shoot 40 times a game for the next 4 years in his quest to win the all-time scoring championship.

    Greg Knapp has Leinart.

Knapp just got through praising JaMarcus.

doubtful. Kobe Bryant won’t stand for that. He’ll never keep his mouth shut about the supporting cast.

Lakers should just trade KB to the Charlotte Bobcats in exchange for Gerald Henderson & Corey Maggette.

Maybe they toss in some draft picks, too?

  82. Just Fire Baby Says:

Grove suffered through another injury plagued year, playing in 12 games, starting 10 of them. Don’t usually like to delve into topics other than Raider football… But the Lakers are fakers? Really? Some of you guys are absolute morons. Or maybe you’ve never seen the 11 championship banners hanging from the roof of the staples center. As real as the nose on your face. Get over it. This particular team may be done for the year and it’s fine to hate, just don let your hatred make you look like a joke.

    —-

I think that has something to do with Laker “fans” resorting to bringing up old championships…Instead of the year at hand.

    Just a hunch..

Umm ok, so the same can be said from Raider fans bringing up our decades old championships too…just saying!

    Exactly.

That is something I dont condone, regardless the team.

U think he’ll be re-signed since we just dumped Bomar?

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Don’t know if he will be, but he should be. I’ll say this, if it were up to Greg Knapp John DeFillipo, there’s no question he would be back. I wouldn’t be surprised if JR is Knapp’s favorite player he ever coached.

99% of people here were happy with the Boller for Gradkwoski trade off.

I think J Hill and I were about the only two who called nonsense on that one.

Heck, I was cool with letting Bruce go, but I knew Boller was a massive downgrade.

But we had KK and Priest telling us that Boller can “make all the throws” that Bruce couldn’t.

Well…..he certainly had the pick 6 throw down!!!

    =========================================

You’ll have to make your purchase in Drachmas, though. Methinks they won’t be taking Euros much longer…

  280. DennisAllensVisor Says:

    Criner & Calhoun shining.

  281. Raider O Says:

I told you People!! Criner catches everything in his radius. Great & soft hands, and they are Huge. 10.5″+.

  282. DMAC Says:

Lee and Bogut will be fine, B.
We just need depth at the positions.

  283. DMAC Says:

    No Mcgee?

  284. Raider Dell Says:

    Raider O,

You tell us plenty. How much is correct?

  285. DennisAllensVisor Says:

McGee off to the side with Murphy, must be dinged.

    Losing his roster spot though..

  286. Raider O Says:

Our scouting department has been great the last few years especially in later rounds, so I wasn’t too happy when Reggie fired some of our scouts.

  287. guest123 Says:

Juron Criner is this year’s answer to DMo 17

But we still don’t know who was truly behind our late round picks.

  291. Just Fire Baby Says:

I like Lee as a grinder, and he was what, in the top 5-6 for scoring and rebounding for his position.

Bogut stinks, and we will be lucky to get 100 games from him before we ship him out.

We need a star. This is a star driven league.

Davis is not a star, no offensive game, again a Dikembe type player, just not as big defensively.

He will be a major disappointment to whoever drafts him.

If I got #1 pick, I am taking Doc’s kid. He has star potential.

  292. DennisAllensVisor Says:

Criner/Calhoun would negate the need for a vet WR.

    Cedrice Benson here we come?..

  293. DennisAllensVisor Says:

    ahh…Cedric.

    Monster has me jittery.

Are you sure about that, Portet?

  296. Raider O Says:

    DMAC,

What are you talking about? You said that!

  297. guest123 Says:

Well the Rams are trying to break out of their lease with St Louis. Hopefully they move back to LA and that will cement the Raiders staying in Oakland.

  298. DMAC Says:

The A’s Ryan Cook has some nasty stuff. He’s only yielded three hits and no runs through 17 2/3 innings of relief this season.
He has also fanned 17 batters and is sporting a 0.66 WHIP.
He should be closing already, IMO.

  299. Raider O Says:

Juron Criner with over-the-shoulder catch of deep throw. He catches everything, makes difficult catch look routine. Wow!

  303. Raider O Says:

Criner, Burris, and the 26 yo rookie are going to be starters by the end of this season.
    Print that!

  304. DMAC Says:

Goodson just needs to learn how to hold on to the ball. Good thing we have one of the best RB coach (Skipper) in the league.

Guess what dakota….you keep saying LA Raiders…and it will never happen…someday warriors will be back on top…that’s difference between you and I

    +++++++++++++++++

Oakland will never come up with their share of the Billion dollars it costs to build a new football stadium these days….just a matter of time before the Raiders commit to LA.

Mark spent his formative years in LA. Hired an LA Raider to run the team. Spends lots of time in LA.

    Writing is on the wall.

    %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Team needs a big time investor. Maybe Tiger would like to become the next Magic Johnson / Michael Jordan and become an owner / investor. He’s a Raider fan and he could pay for half a stadium all by himself, even with the alimony.Sell the otherhalf to Zuckerbug , ellison or gates and we’re good. new stadium and the team stays put. Mark you need to come up with a plan.

  306. DMAC Says:

    Vegas,

The Giants need to hurry up and sign Milky to a long term deal, before that asking price goes way up.

  307. guest123 Says:

Funny thing is that within GK’s system and blocking scheme, Goodson could be every bit as effective as Bush was, at a fraction of the cost.

  308. Raider O Says:

    DMAC,

That’s your opinion, and I have mine. it’s a free country, or do you prefer a dictatorship?

  312. Marks hair Says:

    Another anquan boldin me hopes?

  313. Just Fire Baby Says:

The Melk man can rake brother.

He won’t lead the league in batting average, but with him slated to play about 158 games and close to 600 AB’s, mixed with him never walking or striking out, he may lead the league if not baseball in total hits.

  314. guest123 Says:

Team needs a big time investor.

    ********

I agree, but it won’t be something so exotic as a Tiger Woods or Zuckerberg/Gates type. And the plan should be a win/win for Oakland to invest and reap some of the rewards. I think Mark Davis is working on something like that.

  315. Just Fire Baby Says:

Maybe Tiger would like to become the next Magic Johnson / Michael Jordan and become an owner / investor.

I’m sure he would, but I doubt he would be looking to do so in Oakland.

Boldin is washed up now. Maybe a younger version would be nice though.

The last 3 years, we drafted a rookie that made the rest of the WR core look like stiffs.

    09-Lou Murphy
    10-Ford
    11-D Moore

  332. DMAC Says:

Coach Dennis Allen revealed that C Stefen Wisniewski underwent a surgical procedure on his shoulder after the season.
There’s no word on the severity, though Allen did mention that Li’l Wiz isn’t “all the way back.” The implication is that the Raiders’ new center should be fine by the time training camp rolls around.

    Good for you DMAC.
If I was you, my next move is to try to buy an apt complex in a cheap college area (MW). You can buy one for around 100k (in Ohio close to The OSU campus 8-12 units). The place will pay for it self in less than 10 years.
