Co-defendent agrees to testify against McClain

Jaradious Williams agreed to plead guilty of third degree assault and will testify against Rolando McClain Thursday in Decatur Municipal Court, WHNT-19 News reported.

Williams was sentenced to 90 days in jail and must pay approximately $300 in fines.

McClain is charted with assault, reckless endagermenet, menacing and wrongfil discharge of a firearm in a Nov. 30 incident while he was away from the Raiders attending the funeral of a relative.

Besides the criminal proceeding, McClain will be named in a civil lawsuit by the alleged victim, Rishard Tapscott, for damages.

    @JDB

who is gonna give him stitches?? McClain?

ROMAC is a pro athlete. these other cats are probably unemployed dirtbags livin’ on the the govts funds.

McClain has to keep his nose clean from here on out. Not just to avoid jail time, but to preserve his career in the NFL. He has a lot more to lose than these other guys. JW probably knows that famous people catch a break in the court room. More likely Slowlando gets a slap on the wrist than him. smart move.

    @Duck

I don’t think Reggie & Dennis would be comfortable with Goethel & Stupar slugging it out. I think Burris could crack the starting lineup at OLB and they move Curry inside for a few games… otherwise it’s time to add a vet in FA

McClain doesn’t know the new defense yet, either. He won’t be able to come in midseason and act like he never missed a beat.

They may not have good behavior releases in the county jail (where he’ll undoubtedly spend his time).

    DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

A Decatur judge found Rolando McClain guilty on all counts. McClain faced charges of assault, reckless endangerment and discharging a firearm.

Former Alabama and current NFL football player Rolando McClain appeared in court Thursday morning.

McClain is charged in a December 2011 assault case. The victim claimed McClain pressed a gun to his head and fired a shot past his ear.

Video recently surfaced showing McClain and the victim arguing and Jeradius Willingham beating on the victim. Legal analysts said the video may not hold up in MCclain’s case since it never shows him attacking the victim.

McClain went before a Decatur judge along with co-defendant Willingham Thursday morning.

Co-defendant Willingham pleaded guilty to third degree assault and agreed to testify against McClain. Willingham faces 90 days in jail and a fine of $296.

The victim also testified against McClain. Christian Tapscott claimed after he had been beaten, he went to his car to get a box cutter to defend himself. Tapscott said when he went back inside the home to get his keys, McClain said. “I will kill you. I will blow your head off.”

    McClain is out on bond.

    Wow!

McClain found guilty on all charges!

  • hwnrdr

Well, when he comes out, I don’t think that Reggie will keep him! He would have cost us too much money for sitting in a county jail!

  • guest123

cut him Reggie! Just do it now!

  • SR Raider

Looks like McClain is out for the first 1-2 months of the season. May be gone forever. Won’t be in camp and will likely be suspended by NFL for at least 4 games

Might be too much of a cap hit. By the time he leaves the Crossbar Hotel of Decatur, there’ll only be a few games left. We can suspend him for four games, then cut him right after the season’s up.

Even if he began serving his sentence TODAY, he wouldn’t be out until almost Thanksgiving anyway. Then he’d have to learn the defense, get back into game shape, etc, etc.

  • davidon

May be a blessing in disguise now they have an excuse to get rid of him

  • realtruraider

Im sure Goodell will take care of it, if the league suspends him I don’t think we will have a cap hit.

  • SR Raider

Yeah I got 180 mixed up with 90. McClain gone for season. Toast

  • John David Booty

All McClain got was 180 days. Half a year for firing a gun near a mans head. I got people in prison doing far longer for lesser crimes. Not complaining, Im well aware of how the game works. Just still never fails to amaze me how things operate.

  • davidon

They should put a jail clause in contracts..

  • raiderjhawk

Big Reggie will cut this fool and then go after some money the Raiders paid him, I guarantee it.

How is it that the big guy who actually beat the crap out of the little guy rolled over on McClain and got less jail time? They must of had proof that McClain did indeed fire the weapon near this dudes head.

Raiders’ Hue Jackson supports Rolando McClain

Based on the information he has on linebacker Rolando McClain’s arrest in Alabama last week, Raiders head coach Hue Jackson said Monday that he didn’t think a suspension by the NFL would be justified.

Jackson admitted his decision to let McClain play Sunday in the Raiders’ 34-14 loss in Miami was “a close call for me. Very close.”

The NFL is conducting an investigation of Wednesday’s incident in which McClain allegedly put a gun to a former high school basketball teammate’s head and fired a shot past his ear. The linebacker was arrested Thursday on misdemeanor assault, firearms and other charges in his hometown of Decatur, Ala. McClain declined to comment Monday.

Jackson and several players said McClain’s troubles were not a distraction for the team and had nothing to do with the one-sided loss to the Dolphins. Miami had a 34-0 lead before the Raiders scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

When all the facts in the case are known, Jackson said, “I think maybe … we’ll all feel different about it.”

Initially, Jackson had expressed disappointment in McClain’s conduct, but after talking to him and conducting his own “fact-finding,” he said he thought McClain was caught in the wrong place “at the wrong time.”

If the NFL suspends the second-year linebacker, who played on Alabama’s 2009 national championship team and was the eighth pick in the 2010 draft, Jackson said he would “come down hard” on him because “that would mean that someone’s not being truthful.”

In the meantime, he said, “I’m taking a stand behind my player.”

There’s no telling how soon the NFL will rule on McClain. In an e-mail, league spokesman Greg Aiello said, “We are monitoring the law enforcement investigation. Our timetable will depend on the outcome of that.”
