Co-defendent agrees to testify against McClain
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Thursday, May 17th, 2012 at 9:23 am in Oakland Raiders.
Jaradious Williams agreed to plead guilty of third degree assault and will testify against Rolando McClain Thursday in Decatur Municipal Court, WHNT-19 News reported.
Williams was sentenced to 90 days in jail and must pay approximately $300 in fines.
McClain is charted with assault, reckless endagermenet, menacing and wrongfil discharge of a firearm in a Nov. 30 incident while he was away from the Raiders attending the funeral of a relative.
Besides the criminal proceeding, McClain will be named in a civil lawsuit by the alleged victim, Rishard Tapscott, for damages.

McClain’s charges in the Al I think don’t even carry jail time…. He will be back in the NFL by october. As much as we dislike his character, he is still an NFL calibur player, and plenty of teams could find a spot for him, IF we even cut him
==============================================
If there were no jail time involved, why did his co-defendant (who was charged with less serious crimes) just plead out to 90 days in jail?

Slowlando can still get out of this….the jury will be told that his “friend” just cut a deal, so his testimony will be looked upon skeptically. Especially if he told the police a different story at the begining, it will impeach his credibility as a witness.
The “victim” has a financial incentive to blame Slowlando, so his testimony is shaky too….and I am willing to bet the “victim” might have some prior history that might impeach his credibility
too.
Slowlando still has decent chance, just from what is being reported.
Now, the state might have other witnesses from that night too that have not been reported on…..then he might be sunk.
I am still shocked that firing a gun near someone’s head is just a misdemeanor in Alabama lol….in most places that is aggravated assault. It would be an attempt by physical menace with a deadly weapon to put another in fear of imminent serious bodily harm.

If those later allegations about menacing the defendant in March are true, I don’t see how Goodell suspends him for anything less than an entire season.
If Vilma gets a full year for a bounty program, then McBusto should get at least that for not only almost killing a man, but then threatening him before the trial as well.

Jury selection has begun:
Defense Attorney: Juror #6, you have indicated that you are an alumnus of the University of Alabama, is that true?
Juror #6: Yes sir.
Defense Attorney: Now, that might lead some to believe that you cannot be a fair and impartial juror in the trial of Mr. McClain. Is that true?
Juror #6: Hell no, I can be fair and impartial!
Defense Attorney: You understand you have a duty to be a fair and impartial juror in this matter and you can assure the court that that is what you will be during the course of this trial?
Juror #6: Yes sir…..ROLL TIDE!
Slowlando will be okay as long as he has 7 or 8 Tide fans on the Jury panel, the State can’t get rid of them all.

It wasn’t a phone conversation. McBoz approached the defendant on a basketball court and said he’d “come after him” after the trial.
If anybody can reliably corroborate that McBusto approached the defendant at ALL that day, I’d consider it good enough.
There is NO LEGITIMATE reason why he would need to approach the defendant directly to say anything. If, for some reason, legit communication did need to take place, then it should have gone through the attorneys.

Someone assaults you and almost kills you. You go to the police. The police arrest him. Two months before the trial begins, he approaches you, repeatedly calls you “police,” and then says he’s “coming for you” (exact alleged words) after the trial.
Any reasonable person would construe that as a threat, and if the court believes the account, they will consider it as such.

I’ve never did that, and nobody I know has and none of my son’s friends have and if your saying it’s acceptable than your wrong, age has nothing to do with behavior.
At 22, I was probably going to summer school, working in the evening and studying for my finance degree or economics course work. I can’t relate to what Mcclain did, sorry, I have no excuse for his behavior nor should you.

don’t pay attention to the people who complain. You didn’t make any changes without people knowing. They knew the scoring system when they signed up. If they didn’t, their fault for not paying attention. I knew it was a QB driven league and I think QB was the 4th or 5th player I drafted. Guys had every opportunity to make full use of the waiver wire, cuts & adds, trades, etc.
I don’t think many of the guys who made the playoffs are whining, are they? I mean – I got beat by Ryan who started Matt Hasselbeck. Got beat by JFB when he started Tebow.
Just do your thing and keep us informed. Don’t change everything just to please a few guys who couldn’t get it done!

Being an idiot (like maybe drinking, disorderly conduct, marijuana possession, mooching off parents, etc) those things happen to a lot of young people.
Holding a gun to someone’s head and threatening them and then shooting to scare them…..that is a little above idiot level, that is into fk up level.

May 17th, 2012 at 10:30 am
RRS,
You have my respect and I agree to some of your points and realize, that the position we draft, really has an impact on the types of players we can draft and when.
Most of the complaints were not from one or two players, it was broad based.
I think after reviewing the season and how the points were scored, it was heavy on the passing teams and the running game seemed to get shorted a few points.
I have, the last two years of actual games played to finally balance out the league scoring. My personal opinion is anybody can compete in my league and last year the games were closer than the prior year.
I’m still making adjustments and hopefully they will be balanced for this upcoming season.

Since we are all coming clean about our prior criminal histories, I might as well share:
When I was 6 years old, I stole my cousin’s Dukes of Hazard matchbox car set. My mom caught me and I had to take them back and apologize.
When I was 12, I shot the window out of my Dad’s jeep with a BB gun….I then threw a rock through the window, found the BB and removed it, then got on my bike and trucked into town, where I then bribed a friend into vouching for me that I was in town all day, and it must have been some other kid in the area that threw the rock. I have never told my Dad this…..but the statute of limitations has run.
There, I feel better now.

RRS,
The biggest complaint was about JHILL, and his lucky QB play. I don’t think it ws lucky, but he definetly irritated some people.
I’m thinking equal points for pass and run, with bonus points meeting high numbers in certain categories.

Dell,
I will play no matter what the scoring system is…..but the one thing I didn’t like were the scoring bonuses for meeting certain yardage levels….I like the simple point for every ___ yards system.
I don’t think a QB who throws for 300 yards should be awarded that many more points than one that throws for 295 yards……but it really doesn’t matter, as it is fun no matter what.

I shot my sister with a BB gun and my mom took it away from me and chose to hide it. that happened when I was probably 12, too. problem was, her & dad never could find it after that. Dad found it while he was boxing up stuff to move to Missouri. Finally got the BB gun back at age 28, LOL

don’t pay attention to the people who complain.

What was a little strange was that the sound on the video was clearly edited.

I used that exagerated statement delibrately. I believe McClain deserves his fair shot in court with regards to the legal system. BUT the mere fact that he put himself in such a stupid situation is enough for me to think he needs discipline in the NFL arena.
Ben Rothlesburger was suspended for 6 games by the NFL for being in a stupid situation, and he was never convicted of any crime. I don’t hear any outcry for the innocence of the white guy….
Mike Vick lost 18 months of his life, and over a HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS for his involvement in the dog fighting scandel. He suffered FAR greater penalties than his peers who were just as involved, because he is famous and in the public eye.
When you are a millionaire and a public figure you are held to a higher standard, and subject to much stricter scrutiny in the public eye. If you don’t like it, get out of the public eye… in McClains case, leave the NFL.

I dont think so, especially if you only play one league.
Luck plays a big part, if your starters are not injured, for instance and have good years.
You can be competitive and spend two hours a week tops.
Dell does a fantastic job and its a lot of fun. We split the league in two 6 team divisions last year and there were real slim pickings on the wires.
I recomended last year that Dell runs his league with ten teams. And because so many from here want to join he has another league.
Someone else can run the other league/division because Dell has his hands full managing one. If Yahoo allows they can be tied together in some fashion.
But it would operate as a minor league and at the end of the year the winner steps up to the pros and the last place team in the pros moves down to the semis.
It was just a way to get more involved and slim the league back down to 10 teams.
When you have 12 teams and almost all 12 are still working the wire you cant find anyone decent if injuries mount up

I am almost ran the table in Dell’s league last year, and I started Tebow for a few games at QB.
The scoring system is fine. People that complain about it, probably were the ones who drafted a defense and never changed it.
The key to my success. I think I started the defense that played the Bears in the Hanie era for a month straight.

DOW JONES
The U.S. Census Bureau said Thursday that for the first time a slight majority of the nation’s population one year or younger are non-white. Just over 50% of those tots are racial minorities while 49.7% of the population 5 or younger is also non-white.
There were 114 million total minority members in 2011, the Census Bureau estimates, making up 36.6% of the total U.S. population. Four states–Hawaii, California, New Mexico and Texas–and the District of Columbia have “majority-minority” populations, the Bureau said.

You better manage a team better then Mcskinnycalves.
These boys are ruthless and some of them (I wont mention names) stay up till the wee hours on wire night.
Im not kidding. You have all the usual transactions that are plugged in ahead of time (many guys have 4 or 5 of these but I wont mention my name) but you dont always get who you want, so at one minute after midnight the wire is filled with deals from several managers.

The idea of “snitching” and the consequences involved should only apply to those involved in criminal activity.
Example, an innocent bystander, who happens to witness a crime and reports it should not be considered a snitch. That person was merely performing a civic duty, that could very well keep more people from being harmed.
Jaradious Williams is a SNITCH. When you cooperate in dirt, and turn around and tell on one of the people you did dirt in that situation with, you are a snitch, and should almost expect to be dealt with, accordingly. Not saying that I agree with or condone violence, in any way. Jaradious Williams is a grown man who CHOSE to physically beat another human being. Again, that was his choice. He is not testifying to better the situation that was made, he is SNITCHING to get himself out of what HE did.
Snitches do “get stitches”, and again, not saying I agree with the concept, but I do recognize why it exists.

New information about alleged assault by Rolando Mcclain
Former Alabama and current NFL football player Rolando McClain appeared in court Thursday morning.
McClain is charged in a December 2011 assault case. The victim claimed McClain pressed a gun to his head and fired a shot past his ear.
Video recently surfaced showing McClain and the victim arguing and Jeradius Willingham beating on the victim. Legal analysts said the video may not hold up in MCclain’s case since it never shows him attacking the victim.
McClain went before a Decatur judge along with co-defendant Willingham Thursday morning.
Co-defendant Willingham pleaded guilty to third degree assault and agreed to testify against McClain. Willingham faces 90 days in jail and a fine of $296.
The victim also testified against McClain. Christian Tapscott claimed after he had been beaten, he went to his car to get a box cutter to defend himself. Tapscott said when he went back inside the home to get his keys, McClain said. “I will kill you. I will blow your head off.”
McClain is out on bond.

Raiders’ Hue Jackson supports Rolando McClain
Based on the information he has on linebacker Rolando McClain’s arrest in Alabama last week, Raiders head coach Hue Jackson said Monday that he didn’t think a suspension by the NFL would be justified.
Jackson admitted his decision to let McClain play Sunday in the Raiders’ 34-14 loss in Miami was “a close call for me. Very close.”
The NFL is conducting an investigation of Wednesday’s incident in which McClain allegedly put a gun to a former high school basketball teammate’s head and fired a shot past his ear. The linebacker was arrested Thursday on misdemeanor assault, firearms and other charges in his hometown of Decatur, Ala. McClain declined to comment Monday.
Jackson and several players said McClain’s troubles were not a distraction for the team and had nothing to do with the one-sided loss to the Dolphins. Miami had a 34-0 lead before the Raiders scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
When all the facts in the case are known, Jackson said, “I think maybe … we’ll all feel different about it.”
Initially, Jackson had expressed disappointment in McClain’s conduct, but after talking to him and conducting his own “fact-finding,” he said he thought McClain was caught in the wrong place “at the wrong time.”
If the NFL suspends the second-year linebacker, who played on Alabama’s 2009 national championship team and was the eighth pick in the 2010 draft, Jackson said he would “come down hard” on him because “that would mean that someone’s not being truthful.”
In the meantime, he said, “I’m taking a stand behind my player.”
There’s no telling how soon the NFL will rule on McClain. In an e-mail, league spokesman Greg Aiello said, “We are monitoring the law enforcement investigation. Our timetable will depend on the outcome of that.”
