Been decades since I last watched a replay of the immaculate reception. Can’t bear to see the highlight of that play. I was already celebrating and thinking the game was over. What happened live didn’t capture the angle that was later put in the highlight reels. Watching live, there was confusion. You didn’t know what happened until after the refs signaled touchdown. It was bizarre and surreal. I don’t think anyone understood or could deal with what just happened. I shook my head in total disbelief. Like someone had died.

Whatever you do, don’t buy the Raiders LED outside solar light.
Thing was like $20, and it puts off less light than the $3 ones from Lowe’s.
The Raiders waffle/sandwich maker griddle is awesome though. Nothing like an Albuquerque Turkey sandwich, with the shield on it.

Miami is some kind of crazy. Or so I hear. I’ve lived in Tampa 4 years and have yet to visit Miami, and don’t have a good excuse to go. West Palm Beach is nice though. I’m not at all curious to see Miami, but I guess I’ll have to bite the bullet to see the Raiders this fall.

If Brooks is smart, he won’t put Ibaka on him exclusively and have him get sucked out of the paint.
Bosh is 7′0 and one of the leagues best jump-shooters. It don’t matter if you have Ibaka, Bill Russell, or Safalosha on him, he is getting his jumper off.

A Texas father beat a man to death after catching him molesting his 4-year-old daughter in a horse barn, The Houston Chronicle reports. The incident happened Saturday evening near Shiner, Texas.
Lavaca County Sheriff Micah Harmon identified the deceased as a 47-year-old man from Gonzales, Texas. He was reported dead at the scene, however, his name will not be released until his next of kin is notified.
Harmon said the father and daughter were with several other people at the family’s barn to groom and tend to the horses, according to The Chronicle. The alleged attacker was reportedly an acquaintance of the father.
The sound of the little girl’s screams were later heard coming from the barn and instinctually, the father rushed to his daughter’s aide. After reaching the barn, he found a man sexually assaulting his daughter – undoubtedly a dad’s worst nightmare.
After pulling the attacker off of her, the father repeatedly struck the man in the head.

Point is J, if Brooks is going to let Spo run pick and pop with Bosh and he is going to let Bosh pull Ibaka or Perkins 18+ feet from the basket ALL THE TIME, no need in even playing the games, because Heat will win in 4 or 5.
You have to let Bosh shoot jumpers, and clog the lane so Wade and James don’t have free run in the paint (and also for offensive rebounds since the bigs are out by the 3 line).

I don’t see this guy doing time in this case. In Texas he could have shot the guy, but probably didn’t have his piece on him, so he beat him. If he goes to jail, all of Texas will rally around him.

He used to run a car detailing business and wanted to be an entrepenuer. Died at 31 at the hands of police, taken down like a rabid dog…and still 150 people dressed up to pay condolences. WTF is this world coming to?

Saw Prometheus last night. It was pretty good. A bit confusing, but the style and visuals are excellent. A warning though, do not see the movie if you have not seen the other Alien films (especially the first one).

Give me a break! It was pretty dam good for a summer blockbuster. I enjoyed it more than The Avengers.
This is my take. The Engineers created humans. They then regretted that decision and were going to destroy humanity (the gods punished Prometheus in Greek Mythology for thinking that man could be equal to the gods). I am guessing that this is why the Engineers wanted to destroy humans. The created these biological weapons to destroy humans, but the weapons backfired and killed the crew members of their ship. The biological goo then led to the creation of the Alien creatures through a rapid evolutionary process. The Aliens adapt depending on their host.
Anyways, the movie was a warning about messing with nature and trying to play god.

The frustrating thing is that the defense is pretty much the glaring question mark on this team, and they can’t hit anyone yet. We won’t know how good or bad they are until preseason starts. The offensive show kinda tells us what we already know. The offense is going to be good. Can we say anything at all about the defense from OTA’s?

As bad as this story was there is no fricken way the special effects could save this flick. It sucked.
The thing that made “Alien” a classic is the simplicity of the story. This movie had no substance.

They know all the mythological stories by heart, sing the Greek Nat’l anthem, pledge of allegiance, even speak some greek and write greek cursive. I don’t know any greek, but I bet they’d like to see Prometheus. Still, if it’s got any bad words, it’s a no-go from me. They’ll have to wait to learn the potty words.

yeah I know. It doesn’t make it any easier to wait and wait for some first hand information that is not just a bloggers opinion that our defense will be indeed improved. Really we don’t have anything to hang our hat on in objectively analyzing the new defense. It’s a brand new defense, one no one has seen in Oakland in our lifetimes. All we get is comments like “we’re going to be mutliple”. Seems pretty vague. I’d like some more meat and potatoes reports. I’m starving for it.

This is very common. It happens more times than not exactly as you describe when I visit a chucky cheese. Parents drop them off and walk away. Once I flagged an employee to page the parents and they looked everywhere. Finally about an hour later the mom shows up after getting her nails done at the mall next door. Just ups and leaves her 4 yo and 2 yo’s to fend for themselves. She took away the kids with no worries and the kids were panhandling the whole time.

I was disappointed a little bit. I watched the first Alien just as a refresher and I didn’t think it lined up well….the planet’s environment didn’t look anything like the one in the original….the “engineer” wasn’t left in the control seat of the ship, which is where it was found in the original….the alien at the end resembled the original, but wasn’t quite there, but maybe it wasn’t supposed to be the exact alien that the find years later, I don’t know.
The makeup job on the Guy Pierce was horrible….the scene with Theron and her “father” was cheesy, bordering on lame.
I don’t know. It wasn’t nearly as much of a thriller as it was made out to be…..not once did I flinch in my seat. It was okay, just didn’t live up to expectations. I would put it third behind Alien and Aliens in that line of movies.

I agree. I don’t know why they didn’t use an old actor to play Pearce’s character. I am guessing that Pearce is going to be back in the sequel, perhaps as a younger clone. There were a lot of unanswered questions. I also think that the android has a hidden agenda we don’t know about yet.

I am shocked at how some parents let their small children run free. I recently watched some parents at a restaurant let their 3 year old daughter leave the table and walk to the bathroom by herself, which may have been fine had the bathroom been in their line of vision, but the kid had to walk to the other side of the restaurant and was out of their sight for quite some time.
I would never tempt fate like that. That child could easily have been taken right out of that restaurant and never seen again.
We have a friend who lets her 3 year old son play in her front yard, which is about 10 feet from a busy street. I ask her what she is thinking and she says she trusts him not to run in the road…..geee okay, guess it hasn’t happened yet, but why take that chance?
I have also seen children in inappropriate moves with their parents…..Passion of the Christ and your kid is 4 or 5? Really? Saw one kid, probably 8 or 9, bawling his eyes out while his parents watched Signs. Another time I saw some little kid crying during the movie The Others.

When I think great sequel, I think it has to match or surpass the original.
Empire is a good one, certainly better than Star Wars…..Dark Knight is up there too….but Fletch Lives? Decent flick, but it wasn’t better than the original.
I like the Road Warrior as a great sequel…..but I don’t know if it was better than Mad Max. Same with Godfather II…..was it better than the original? Close, but I don’t think so.

I was disappointed a little bit. I watched the first Alien just as a refresher and I didn’t think it lined up well….the planet’s environment didn’t look anything like the one in the original….the “engineer” wasn’t left in the control seat of the ship, which is where it was found in the original….the alien at the end resembled the original, but wasn’t quite there, but maybe it wasn’t supposed to be the exact alien that the find years later, I don’t know.
The makeup job on the Guy Pierce was horrible….the scene with Theron and her “father” was cheesy, bordering on lame.
I don’t know. It wasn’t nearly as much of a thriller as it was made out to be…..not once did I flinch in my seat. It was okay, just didn’t live up to expectations. I would put it third behind Alien and Aliens in that line of movies.

The Dark Knight was definitely better than Batman Begins. I loved Batman Begins, but the acting job Ledger did as the Joker was one of the best I have ever seen. Dark Knight Rises looks to be just as good. I am glad Nolan is keeping it to a strict 3 films, so it doesn’t get all drawn out and cheesy.

I can’t answer your questions, but some other stuff that bothered me…..why does an advanced life-form need to drink a magic potion that kills one of their own in order to spread the DNA on Earth? You would think they would have developed a better way of spreading their DNA lol.
And when they find the egg pods in the original there was a blue light that hovered above the eggs and seemed to alert the egg that there was someone near by….who put that there, or was that just supposed to be natuarally occuring and created by the Aliens themselves?
I assume the eggs in the tunnel were just laid there by the queen that was born at the end of Prometheus, but only Ridley knows the answer to that I guess.

I think why I’m so disappointed is that I WAS expecting a movie with a story as great as “Alien” had. It was direct, not overly complicated but certainly not simplistic and extremely suspenseful. I cared about the characters.
Prometheus had none of that.

This blog hasn’t been great since I have been a part of it, but has definitely taken a down turn since Steve took over. All they do is regurgitate news stories that have been reported elsewhere. The real strength of this blog, and I am sure the reason we all come back is our own discussions. Thats the reason I come in here daily. It would be awesome if Steve or Jerry actually posted their thoughts on the team, breakdowns of positions, team needs, ya know, all the stuff we talk about all day. Sadly, they cut and paste other articles and go about their day.

I’m glad that TPryor is learning from Rich Gannon and that losers Palmer or Leinart! Gannon had his ups and downs in the league, but I think Pryor will learn. Maybe Spuds will unload these losers before the beginning of the season.
