Heyward-Bey ordered back in court July 23

By Steve Corkran
Thursday, June 28th, 2012 at 10:54 am in Oakland Raiders.

Raiders wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey was informed at a pre-hearing conference Thursday that he is due back in court July 23 for his next go-round as a result of his being charged with driving under the influence.
Heyward-Bey went before Judge Donna Little at Superior Court in San Francisco on Thursday morning. At that time, Judge Little told Heyward-Bey that a jury trial will be set July 23 unless the case is resolved.
Assistant district attorney Alex Bastian said by phone that Heyward-Bey was present Thursday and that Heyward-Bey is slated to appear again in Dept. 17 at the Hall of Justice in less than a month.
The Raiders start training camp in Napa on July 29. Raiders coach Dennis Allen last month said that he and the Raiders are keeping tabs of Heyward-Bey’s legal issue.
“It’s a situation that we’re aware of and we’re monitoring,” Allen said. “We’ll see how the whole legal proceedings carry out and then we’ll kind of go from there.”
Heyward-Bey, 25, was arrested and charged with one count of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and one count of driving while having a blood alcohol content of .08 or higher, in the early morning hours April 7. He was arraigned May 31 after blood-alcohol tests revealed 0.12 and 0.13 levels.
Heyward-Bey could not be reached for comment. Last month, he said: “I just kind of regret bringing bad attention to the team.”
He entered a not guilty plea at his arraignment, which he did not attend.
Heyward-Bey’s lawyer, Ivan Golde, said Wednesday that there might be some procedural issues related to the traffic stop and arrest.
“After investigating all the procedures and all the chain of events, it appears not everything was done according to the rule of law, and there may be some questions that need to go before a jury,” Golde said.

W’s should have drafted Jeff Taylor with that #30 pick.

Barnes and Taylor would have added even more valuable assets to the W’s squad.

Fezili is as stiff and will be a D Leaguer. haha

Glad the W’s didn’t do anything stupid like reach for a stiff big man center like Drummond or Zeller at #7.

Best player available was Barnes and he fits a need. W’s were fortunate he slipped to them, now just gotta hope the W’s continue his development and don’t mess the kid up and stunt his growth as a basketball player.

    **************************

YAWWWWWWWWNNNNNNNNNN worry bout ya Lakers….Ezeli was personally picked by Jerry West…..you trippin..Ezeli is some needed size and defense…you know better than Jerry West? Never and wont be a D leaguer at all

You dont draft a SF in the lottery and then draft another SF to player bench in same round knowing you need inside help…you are crazy man

    ^^^^^^^^
You take the best available player at #30.
Jeff Taylor is going to be a better player than Ezeli….watch.

Ezeli was not personally hand picked by West? Who said that?

Ezeli will be a stiff….mark my words. They could have added stiff backup center in FA.

fry two hot dogs and chop them up
    get a flour tortilla
    cover flour tortilla with catchup
    sprinkle chopped up hot dogs
    add cheese
    microwave for 1 minute
Now you got missus beeecham nasty assed pizza, great snack for 230 in the mornin when you just rollin home after closin time.

  • alf_capone

i still wanna see us get a better back up rb and i think our offense will be just as good if not better than it was last yr. the defense should be improved right? surely it cant get worse

  • Missus Beeecham

another trick to growin a big duece:
eat nothin but top ramin for 5 days, delay toilet visits as long as possible, then when the time is opportune, let’er rip.

  • Missus Beeecham

I use toilet paper for my napkins when I have guests over for dinner and entertainment. Just leave a roll by each plate setting. We got nothin to hide in the Beeecham house. Not a damn thing. But I do have a lock on the medicine cabinet in the loo. You just dont want any neighbors plantin some type of fungus or itch cream in there when you aint lookin.

  • Missus Beeecham

My trailer is rockin when the raids is playin on TV. I know how to serve it up. Its like one big giant tailgate right from the couch. dont get no better than that. Gallo wine and raids football, dorritos and lucky strikes. yes, i might be a dreamer but come game day, my door is always open.

  • Missus Beeecham

if the trailer is rockin dont come a knockin.

  • Missus Beeecham

 couldn’t hold that one in

  • raiderfankirk

Hoping we sign Benson. We need two backs that can pass protect and at the same time can be a play treat.

  • http://www.Raiders.com KoolKell

    Don’t need Benson. Need Cornerbacks.

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d82a3ab0b/article/memo-a-sign-of-progress-for-nfl-moving-back-to-la

I don’t get it. Can a NFL team really make it in LA? Los Angeles people are not craving an NFL team are they? They got USC and UCLA for petes sake. You got the Dodgers, Lakers and Clippers. I don’t get it. The Rams moves out of there for a reason, Al Davis got his Raiders out of there for a reason. The Oilers didn’t want it. Colts didn’t want it. Cardinals didn’t want it. Why would anybody ever think the people of LA would support a NFL team? Fck that.

  • pepperjack the smokestack

LA is the armpit of California. Hollywood is as nasty as a town can get. Vile, evil and backstabbing. LA does not deserve a NFL team.

  • http://www.Raiders.com KoolKell

Al Davis jumped on LA, despite a long waiting list for tickets in Oakland.

  • raiderfankirk

Kell you gust made that up. Both cities dupped Al saying he would get a new stadium.

  • raiderfankirk

La when he left and Oakland when he came back. He never wanted to leave. Oakland called his bluff. Al never bluffed or backed down. Al was definitely a don’t fuc with me kinda man. A great man for the sport, and a great man.

I am so glad I am not the only one who thinks that in here.

  • raiderfankirk

Anyone watching the AFL game on NFLN? Still better than watching basketball ball, baseball, and soccer. I started watching the England soccer game and in the end it was like a bad movie. I couldn’t wait for it to end.

  • raiderfankirk

Hmmm wonder who backstage is? LMFAO sad little guy. I’ll ad that one to the list.

  • backstageatapuppetshow

Kirk, it’s spelled with two d’s…

So also add that to your list!

  • raiderfankirk

So Kell why don’t we need Benson? Right now we have two backs we know that can pass protect. DMAC and smidt. If your a d coordinator wich one do you cover every down. That limits dmac’s receiving ability. I think some of the balls Reece gets is because he can’t block and McCfadden has to stay in. Third and short pro set. Two backs in the back field ( thats what Reece has become) . If you wanna run you wouldn’t rather have benson standing beside McCfadden? Play possibilities are much better. Need that second back who we know can pass protect is the biggest reason. Something that bush was not very good at and Benson is upgrade as blocker / runner and payroll. So why do we not need him? Where are these corners coming from.? If reg knew where to get them ( oh wait he did) ?

  • raiderfankirk

Noted and confirmed. Won’t feed that one anymore.

  • raiderfankirk

Srry * we don’t know that can pass protect. Taiwan and Goodson.

  • TxRaider210

    Ryan Grant!

  • raiderfankirk

I think Reece is misused. Why put a guy in the back field thats not a good blocker as FB. Line up out wide like Dallas Clark style he’s still the same mismatch. When he’s lined up in the backfield it should be a surprise run. Say one out of fou.r

  • backstageatapuppetshow

If you knew what you were talking about Kirk you would know that having a RB who can chip and then run a delay route is more proactive than having a back who stays in and protects and does not run a route.

The days of having to have a RB stay in and protect are almost at an end…

Look at the top Offenses in the league and you will see that many (New England, San Diego, New Orleans) all have smaller backs in on passing downs.

It’s a chess match, and having a skill position player on the field who does nothing but block is a wasted move.

Forcing the defense to prepare for a team that has backs in the route/scheme will reduce the number of blitzes because it increases their risk of a breakdown.

Do I agree with you that Benson is a quality player? Yes, on the field he is a beast. No question about it. However, when we factor in that he has been in and out of jail recently he doesn’t seem like he would be in our plans for the future.

    But we will see.

  • raiderfankirk

Grant? Don’t think so. We need a batteringe ram. Rathr have Battle if he’s still available? Benson over.

  • raiderfankirk

Both. Any perspective on Grant’s pass protection.

  • backstageatapuppetshow

Grant is a quality player IMO.

However, he is not a long term solution in any way. He would probably present quality leadership but little else.

He has always been one of the slowest RBs in the NFL….and has benefited by playing in an Offense that passes to set up the run…so his numbers are skewed…

If we need a RB, we need a guy who is going to play ALL special teams because his skill set would dictate that….I’m sure one of the kids on our roster will do…

As KoolKell stated…my concerns are in the secondary, at the corner position. However, I am not at practice and cannot see what these news players have to offer at this point.

I hope Reggie knows what he is doing….for now…I can only speculate!

  • Pepperjack the Smokestack

LA is such a skank town even fruit flies and cockroaches will flee from there in the final days. Rats and maggots will be beating each other for srambling rights to get the hell out of there.

  • raiderfankirk

Benson can’t run a route, screen, delay, or BLOCK?Three options not two. Runs better, blocks better. Ok Reece runs routes and catches better. One trick pony. He’s a receiver. Smart coach’s play to a players strength. Not one scheme based on mismatch. Reece running route on Ray Lewis advantage Reece. Reece picking up Ray in the middle on a run, advantage Ray, as with most mlbs. Catch em guess he’s got a shot, but I like Schmidt’s chances better.

  • backstageatapuppetshow

I never said Benson couldn’t play…just don’t think he would fit into what we are trying to build at this point…

As far as Reece goes, if I was running this Offense….he would play H Back…and would mostly line up at TE…sometimes in the slot….and occasionally in the backfield…

  • backstageatapuppetshow

He would be used similar to Randy McMichael of San Diego…

  • raiderfankirk

Can’t wait to have FB for new Madden. Not worried about the D. They should get better s season progresses. We have always had the players. Now they have to learn their jobs. Can’t get worse. What worries me is fixing something that wasn’t broke. The offence.

  • Raiders for life

Can’t get worse. What worries me is fixing something that wasn’t broke. The offence.

    ###################

Part of the O is broke. Moore, Ford and Murph seem injury prone. If that is true….DHB is gonna have to really step up. Seems like he has been the more durable of WR’s.

  • raiderfankirk

Big receiver? Still mismatch no matter where he lines up. Just ask him to block in limited duty.

  • Pepperjack the Smokestack

The fact that the NFL wants a franchise is LA just goes to show the real character of the powers that be. LA can keep sucking the great tit of Babylon . They are good at it.

  • DJ Johnny

He looked world class against our beloved.

I’m serious when I say this…my main concern while watching the 2nd half of that game was I was praying we wouldn’t suffer the worst defeat in history, or at least earn some other dubious distinction of horribleness.

46-16? There’s been worse thank God.

  • backstageatapuppetshow

    I felt the same way….

  • DJ Johnny

I’ll admit something further. I am a confessed flag waving Carson Palmer fan, but I was getting concerned about him in that 1st half.

He really disappointed me that game.

Should Brett Favre come from retirement and return to the NFL? As a Seahawk.

  • raiderfankirk

Murphy is healthy, traded or released. Tons of depth at skill position. Criner, Steater, and Reece WR. Add Benson and DMAC plays WR. Broken? No. Deeper than I can ever remember. Don’t think we’ve every been this stacked. Brown, Rice, Rison, Porter and crew not better? Maybe? Don’t think so.

Is this based on something you’ve heard rumored?

I’d like to see him back just for fun…but not with Seattle.

  • backstageatapuppetshow

To add something to that Johnny, concerning Palmer:

This was the first game we really tried to run any sort of play action where Palmer turned his back to the defense….

I think the 2 plays when he had his back to the D, he was sacked once and the other he threw a horrible INT….

These types of concepts are exactly what he is being asked to do this season….

    Just Sayin’

Lol. Did you leave the room and try to focus on something else and still find yourself going back to the game? Or is it just my neurotic self?

  • backstageatapuppetshow

Palmer is great on Play Action, so as he doesn’t have to Boot and then set up….

There are many ways to Play Action…players like Jay Cutler can turn their backs to the D, but players like Palmer and Manning shouldn’t….and usually, Don’t.

  • DJ Johnny

Pepperjack… As funny as your response was it did come off as a little harsh on the smuckmeister.

Love some Palmer . Fuc Craft wants team in London. Farve would be better than what they got.
