Heyward-Bey ordered back in court July 23

By Steve Corkran
Thursday, June 28th, 2012 at 10:54 am in Oakland Raiders.

Raiders wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey was informed at a pre-hearing conference Thursday that he is due back in court July 23 for his next go-round as a result of his being charged with driving under the influence.
Heyward-Bey went before Judge Donna Little at Superior Court in San Francisco on Thursday morning. At that time, Judge Little told Heyward-Bey that a jury trial will be set July 23 unless the case is resolved.
Assistant district attorney Alex Bastian said by phone that Heyward-Bey was present Thursday and that Heyward-Bey is slated to appear again in Dept. 17 at the Hall of Justice in less than a month.
The Raiders start training camp in Napa on July 29. Raiders coach Dennis Allen last month said that he and the Raiders are keeping tabs of Heyward-Bey’s legal issue.
“It’s a situation that we’re aware of and we’re monitoring,” Allen said. “We’ll see how the whole legal proceedings carry out and then we’ll kind of go from there.”
Heyward-Bey, 25, was arrested and charged with one count of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and one count of driving while having a blood alcohol content of .08 or higher, in the early morning hours April 7. He was arraigned May 31 after blood-alcohol tests revealed 0.12 and 0.13 levels.
Heyward-Bey could not be reached for comment. Last month, he said: “I just kind of regret bringing bad attention to the team.”
He entered a not guilty plea at his arraignment, which he did not attend.
Heyward-Bey’s lawyer, Ivan Golde, said Wednesday that there might be some procedural issues related to the traffic stop and arrest.
“After investigating all the procedures and all the chain of events, it appears not everything was done according to the rule of law, and there may be some questions that need to go before a jury,” Golde said.

    1 Month til Training Camp….TODAY!

  • Thec

I hope it’s because he competed for the spot and not because of an injury…

Either way…basing your decision on his performance in OTAs this year is skeptical to me…

    ++++++++++=

Thats a good point. I beleive he will beat out one of the starters.

Secondly, I am not basing my opinion on the OTA’s.
I watched a lot of college football, I am a PAC 10 apologist, even though the SEC is a better conf.

My opinion of him was on draft day that he will be a starter.

Although he had a good QB, he made some catches that saved him in some cases.

  • raiderfankirk

Jfb that’s one thing I’m hoping will change. Don’t think Al had proper time to evaluate players in camp. If Al wasn’t set on his guys DHB probably is out of the league. Al’s mo was get the best athletes and teach them to play. That works when players played most of their careers with one team. Al valued loyalty above all else. Unfortunately it doesn’t really exist in today’s game. Hoping Reggie is more of the best players play. Love DHB but everyone knows he didn’t belong on the field his first two seasons.

  • Thec

Only hold up with Benson may be cap space.

  • backstageatapuppetshow

I agree he made some great catches…especially against safeties deep…in some cases beating double coverage…and he showed that he will compete for the ball in the air consistently…

Whose spot does he take in your opinion? DHB or Ford?

  • raiderfankirk

Judging linemen and WR in non contact drills is apples and oranges.

Not sure if that was directed at me, but Pelc was running with the 1′s in training camp (contact allowed) last year, pads and all.

    +++++

    Whew…Tough question Bruh…

Right now the WR starters IMO are DMO, and DHB.

JFORD has to come back and earn his time as he is behind even DHB.

What is going to dictate who plays what is packages of course Down and distance being another factor.

I would feel really comfortable with running some 4, WR sets. DMO DHB JFORD and JCRINER…Thats a tough pill.

I do beleive all of them will get some run, and push each other.

  • Thec

Alan Pelc is still on staff.

  • Thec

    Time to run, had fun….

Question, does it make you cringe when you hear another sports team or franchise try and attach the word NATION to it???

    1 NATION

  • backstageatapuppetshow

I would also like to see some 4wr sets….or even 3 wr sets along with Reece on the field playing in the slot to create some mis-matches…

I don’t see Criner being an outside player….I see him in the slot…meaning he would have to beat out Ford…who…IMO..under performs based on his ability…

Ford has the skill set to be an awesome slot WR…but he isn’t interested in improving himself….he relies on his speed…not his agility…to get open…

    YES!

  • DJ Johnny

Backstage, Since you’ve endured watching it a couple times, there’s been some debate about that Grant run against GB.

In your opinion was that on McClain primarily?

  • mr green

Ya’ll be good to one another. Its been a real slice. I do hope and pray all the purse swinging and cat fighting that goes on in here between some of ya’ll is done in good jest. We all just people, folks. This planet wasn’t put here so we could tear it down with our differences. Check ya’ll in the AM.

    Peace Ya’ll

Love is but a song we sing
    Fears’ the way we die
You can make the mountains ring
    Or make the angels cry
Though the dove is on the wing
And you may not know why

    Come on people now
    Smile on your brother
    Everybody get together
And try to love one another right now

Some may come and some may go
    He will surely pass
When the one that left us here
    Returns for us at last
We are but a moment’s sunlight
    Fading in the grass

    Come on people now
    Smile on your brother
    Everybody get together
Try to love one another right now

    Come on people now
    Smile on your brother
    Everybody get together
Try to love one another right now

    Come on people now
    Smile on your brother
    Everybody get together
Try to love one another right now

If you hear the song I sing
    You will understand, listen
You hold the key to love and fear
    All in your trembling hand
Just one key unlocks them both
    It’s there at your command

    Come on people now
    Smile on your brother
    Everybody get together
Try to love one another right now

    Come on people now
    Smile on your brother
    Everybody get together
Try to love one another right now

I said, come on people now
    Smile on your brother
    Everybody get together
Try to love one another right now
    Right now, right now

  • Raidernationdave

Only got one one the road today burnin’ fuel, an 09 Spectra, that had about a $1500 rack. Don’t know how much the booty was but we’ll see when I get my voucher.

Slinging metal is the best job in the world!

  • backstageatapuppetshow

    I’m pretty sure I started that debate….

Obviously McClain underperformed on that particular play…

    HOWEVER..consider this…

The situation was 1st and 5….and we have 6 DB’s on the field….that was the first mistake…albeit a coaching blunder….

The 2nd coaching mistake was the sideline staff and their inability to YELL out that the Packer only had 6 men on the line of scrimmage…

Despite all of this, the play should have only cost us a first down….except that our 1st round pick, Mr. Huff…decided that he would not even touch Grant on his attempted tackle and instead dive into the ground giving up a huge play…..

A safety like Huff MUST know he is the last line of defense….and on this play….was the worst grade IMO….

  • DJ Johnny

Backstage, that’s scary. A guy like Grant should not be able to shred the D like that.

I say scary cuz Huff is still gonna be back there.

  • backstageatapuppetshow

Huff will get hurt or beat out by Giordanno IMO….

Maybe I’m thinking with my heart and not my head here….but Huff has been one big disappointment to me….and with his recent comments….is #1 on my chit list!

  • DJ Johnny

What comments do you speak of?

  • backstageatapuppetshow

If I was coaching him….he would absolutely HATE me cause I would never shut up about how he under performs….

He blocked me on twitter when I called him out about the play in question….

After he called out Mr. Davis….that did it….

I hope he proves me wrong….I hope he leads by example and shows me that I am wrong….but I doubt that is gonna happen…

He doesn’t take responsibility….and that doesn’t sit well with me….

He should thank his lucky stars Reggie is a patient man…..cause I would have cut him a couple weeks ago….

  • backstageatapuppetshow

His comments about being part of a real defense.

  • backstageatapuppetshow

If Reggie is smart he’ll keep Huff so that way I stay off his back….otherwise I’ll being sending my negativity to our NEW GM…lord knows he needs it….with the WHOLE RAIDER NATION kissing his azz…!

  • DJ Johnny

Ok…I know which comments you’re talking about.

I’m with ya on the not taking responsibility stuff. There is nothing worse imo.

Too bad Jerry Jones didn’t get his man.

  • backstageatapuppetshow

    Was Jerry interested in Huff?

One is better than nothing. I wish they had an Internet sales department when I was working. It is better than working the floor.I sold cars for 9-10 years ( sales, closer, Wholesale).

  • Try Some Reality

What are the commissions like in car sales? Just curious. I’m happy where I’m at.

  • Raidernationdave

Yeah, I’m very fortunate to work internet department. Not only do I get to waste my days away talkin’ to you Raider hooligans, I get to “dial for dollars” and sling Korean metal all day!

I have so much fun I don’t know what to do wit’ m’selv!

PS: I saw your comment where you said that Shane Lectler shouldn’t make anymore money than one of those dudes that slings fruit on the corner.

    Tsk, tsk.

Avg is 20% of the profit, and some people get paid 5% of finance profits (rate, warranty, etc..).
    A good avg is $ 350-400/ car.

I get 25% front end (rack) and 10% back-end (booty). Get it? Rack n booty?! Hahahahahaha!

Backstage, Don’t know if you’re still around but it was rumored that Jerry was interested in Huff last year.

If Huff is genuinely happy that we’ll have multiple defenses than i’m ok with his comments. If he’s simply blaming our deceased owner for his own lackluster play…i’m not cool with that at all.

  • Raidernationdave

DJJ it can be an outstanding career if you work well within the framework you are given to work with.

In other words, a good salesperson has to be aggressive yet personable and work well with clients and co-workers. Do that and be yourself and you’ll sell the shizznizzicles out of anything, cars or ice bergs.

  • http://www.raiders.com Raider O

    DJ,

What are you talking about bro? You are in the business. You made 2K on a 3k car, and you keep all the profit. It doesn’t get any better.
    In-house financing is next:
1- you take $1500 down, so you make $500 from the DP.
    2- 1 year financing @ 25%.
3- you keep the title, an extra key, and you can always repo the car and sell it again (if they miss a pmt).

  • Raidernationdave

    Hahahahahahaha! I feel ya brother!

And fck you too bro, I am special, and I am worth it!!!!!!
