    ODB,

    It’s! LMAO
Too bad it’s not a requirement.

  • RaiderRockstar

LaMont Jordan got a big contract from Al Davis, coming over in FA from the Jets = major disappointment

Justin Fargas got paid after his 1,000 yard season. a year or two later he’s on unemployment and he doesn’t even get a sniff in the FA market

Chris Johnson (Titans) = got paid and played like a 3rd stringer last year!

  • RaiderRockstar

making somebody a Top 5 NFL RB is almost like the Madden Cover Curse imo

some freak injury will happen or he’ll be a complete waste that season.

glad DMAC is still on his rookie contract and we didn’t give Mike Bush starter pay!!

  • http://www.raiders.com Raider O

Foster is 25 yo, so I think he has a few more years.

  • http://www.raiders.com Raider O

M Turner got paid, and he is playing well for the Falcons.

  • RaiderRockstar

Houston’s offense is going to be pathetic without Knapp, Leinart & Brisiel anyways!!

    lol

  • R8ER MIKE

well maybe Brisiel… and Winston. wish we had the cap room to make a move for him.

  • guest123

lol @ RRS for attempting to get his FF leaguemates to pass on Foster in the first round. Nice effort there. Seriously?

  • guest123

Houston also lost Jacoby Jones! Don’t forget about him. That was huge!

  • guest123

Chris Johnson (Titans) = got paid and played like a 3rd stringer last year!

    **************

Taiwan Jones is everything Chris Johnson (Titans) was before he got hurt. Or that’s what he could be anyway. You’re right. RB’s perform better on the cheap. Once they get paid, it’s usually teams paying big money for past performance. That’s a sucker contract for sure.

Somebody (above) asked for SD season predictions:

  • Davy Jones

Still waiting on a Ben Davidson tribute. Not blogging about the death of Raider legend = Radier blogger epic fail. C’mon, guys.

  • RaiderRockstar

SD goes 2-4 before the bye week & 6-4 after it

    sounds about right, no?

  • DKnight007

Chris Johnson hurt himself by missing training camp and playing catch all year long. Plus they didn’t utilize him correctly last year when he was in.

  • guest123

    2413.

that sounds like the same result but flipped backward of what we can come to expect of the Raiders, no?

  • guest123

There is something not right about Chris Johnson. It’s not his speed or shiftiness. He just seems like he lost his desire to shift that extra gear when he needs to. He doesn’t look like he cares about being CJ2K anymore. He’s paid, and then it all changes.

  • RaiderRockstar

    @G123

OAK starts slow and finishes strong in 2012?

wouldn’t surprise me. rookie GM, HC & DC

lots of youth, new faces, new system on Offense & Defense

where do you see us in terms of wins & losses?

  • boss01

Is this DMAC’s contract year or is he signed through 2013? I wonder what he expects to get paid, he better have a big year and stay healthy if he wants Chris Johnson money

  • guest123

    1 – Raiders WIN

    ********

I’ve got them going 7-9. The latter season schedule looks brutal.

  • RaiderRockstar

    @G123

you’ve got SD beating the Saints and losing to the Panthers?

    oof!

    that sounds Raideresque

  • guest123

where do you see us in terms of wins & losses?

    ********

Honestly haven’t mapped it out. Maybe I’m afraid to see what it would be.

Honestly, I could see us going 7-9. Reality is the defense without playmakers could really hold us back. There’s always injuries every year and we can’t afford even one injury, we are that shallow at a lot of positions on defense.

I agree with JFB or whoever said we’d need to put up 35 points a game in the first half to be competitive for a playoff berth. We have a powerful offense, no doubt. And I’m not down on the defense so much as skeptical of the depth and the time needed for it to “gel”.

You know I’m more than happy to see a situation where the Raiders go to the playoffs. But I’m not having high expectations either.

  • guest123

I think the Saints are going to be a letdown this year, with all the sanctions taken against them. No coach Peyton is going to affect them as well. I don’t even see them making the playoffs.

Panthers are going to be a nightmare this year. Imagine they have Cam under center, Stewart and Williams in the wishbone and Tolbert as lead FB. Rollout option would be a nightmare. Dare the defense to stack the box and put it out over top to LaFell or Smitty. TD!

Panthers are going to be good, playoff good team.

  • boss01

You think the dolts schedule is tough, the donks is even tougher, here is my prediction on the donks next year:

    1 – Steelers LOSS
    2 – Falcons LOSS
    3 – Texans LOSS
    4 – Raiders LOSS
    5 – Patriots LOSS
    6 – Chargers WIN
    7 – Bye
    8 – Saints LOSS
    9 – Bengals WIN
    10 – Panthers WIN
    11 – Chargers WIN
    12 – Chiefs LOSS
    13 – Bucs WIN
    14 – Raiders LOSS
    15 – Ravens LOSS
    16 – Browns WIN
    17 – Chiefs WIN

Overall record for 2012: 7-9, 3rd place behind the Raiders and Chiefs, respectively.

  • DJ Johnny

Guest, I wouldn’t count Saints out. They still have Jimmy Graham, Sproles, very good receivers and …Drew Brees.

I think the Saints could still win if Tom Cable was coaching them.

W/o Brees…maybe not. He seems like the real leader of that team…despite his “holdout”.

  • guest123

    DJ,

It’s not so much that I’m counting the Saints out. But the NFC South is a very tough division. Every team has a good QB, not just the Saints. With the Panthers coming on and Atlanta already stacked on offense, they will caniballize New Orleans. Somethings gotta give there. Saints may even be one of the stronger 9-7 teams that barely misses the playoffs. I don’t think they will be bad. But I disagree with the notion that Tom Cable could coach them to the playoffs. Umbaye anyone?

  • RaiderDebo

I think the Saints could still win if Tom Cable was coaching them.

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

    I wouldn’t go that far.

  • RaiderRockstar

I think the Saints are going to be a letdown this year, with all the sanctions taken against them. No coach Peyton is going to affect them as well. I don’t even see them making the playoffs.

    ***

    @G123

suspending a GM means nada. they have 4 other big dogs in the front office.

Head Coach gone for the year, fine. Asst HC/LB Coach gone for 8 games, fine.

the Saints still have a very good, very experienced & very deep coaching staff with guys like:

Aaron Kromer, Pete Carmichael, Jr. & Joe Lombardi on offense.

Steve Spagnuolo, Bill Johnson & Ken Flajole on defense.

Brees playing on a franchise tag isn’t going to flop when he knows he has to play well in order to cash in the following offseason!!

Looking at the Saints roster, they actually IMPROVED personnel during/following bounty-gate. thats impressive. you would think players might want to steer clear following the scandal .. nope!

  • RaiderRockstar

    @G123

the Panthers will be 6-10 this year , Saints probably 12-4

    print that

  • guest123

Brees already has played under 3 tags. One more and it’s a 30% raise or something like $23 million. Of course he wants more than just that. He looks over at what Peyton is getting and is pissed that he has to prove himself over and over again.

I just think the whole coaching and managerial shuffle coupled with Brees issues with the NFLPA and salary demands are going to cause enough of a distraction. Plus, the defense even if it looks like its upgraded took on a lot of changes to leadership positions. I don’t think its fair to assume that the new guys fill in roles automatically.

Plus, what does the new HC do after leading his team to the playoffs? What’s his prize? He gets fired or demoted? That’s a helluva way to reward him. Lame duck coaches never do well.

  • RaiderRockstar

Oakland (prior to training camp) season predictions, anyone?

    here’s mine

    1 – Chargers WIN
    2 – Dolphins WIN
    3 – Steelers LOSS
    4 – Broncos WIN
    5 – Bye
    6 – Falcons LOSS
    7 – Jaguars WIN

    13 – Browns WIN
    14 – Broncos WIN
    15 – Chiefs LOSS
    16 – Panthers WIN
    17 – Chargers WIN

    Overall record of 10-6

  • guest123

    @Rockstar

Panthers will be 9-7 or 10-6, Saints will be 9-7 or 8-8, either way Panthers will win the tie-breaker for the wildcard. Falcons finishing 12-4

    print that

  • guest123

    1 – Chargers LOSS
    2 – Dolphins WIN
    3 – Steelers LOSS
    4 – Broncos LOSS
    5 – Bye

    14 – Broncos WIN
    15 – Chiefs LOSS
    16 – Panthers LOSS
    17 – Chargers WIN

    **************

    Wow!

Objectively, I have us starting super de duper slow….

    but finishing 9-7!

  • RaiderRockstar

what does the new HC do after leading his team to the playoffs? What’s his prize? He gets fired or demoted?

    ***

    @G123

    who are you referring to?

Joe Vitt will miss the first 8 games.

Aaron Kromer will fill in during his absence, unless of course Bill Parcells re-enters the picture

if Vitt does an outstanding job in Weeks 9 thru 17 (plus playoffs) he’s going to get rewarded for it and some other team will snag him as Head Coach (unless the Saints determine he’s worth more than Sean Payton)

there is no “downside” to an interim HC doing well. I doubt he would turn down an HC offer and HUGE pay raise to pledge loyalty to the Saints. most of these young coaches aspire to be their own boss someday and run the show as they see fit.

    That’s optimisitic.

I see Raiders splitting their divisional games at best. If they are playing the Bucs in Tampa, they will prbably lose and then I see them losing to Newton in Carolina.

Best case scenario 9-7, worse case 7-9. Though they could very easlily wind up 6-10 as well.

  • RaiderRockstar

    @G123

your Raiders schedule looks extremely streaky. yikes. I hope those days are long gone. hopefully we can win consistently.

    start 1-4 / 3 wins / LOSS / 4 wins / 2 losses / win

Again, beating the Saints and losing to the Panthers doesn’t compute in my mind. The Raiders have (in the past) struggled against mobile QB’s though … hopefully those days are behind us as well

  • guest123

No way does Parcells re-enter the picture and reset the clock on his HOF ceremony. The man is in his late 70′s. He doesn’t want to be inducted post mortem. He’s got much too big of an ego to miss out on that before he dies.

  • guest123

If they are playing the Bucs in Tampa, they will prbably lose

    TAMPA @ Oakland this year

    ***********

    @ RRS,

I don’t think we can win consistently until we “gel” as a team. I don’t think we “gel” coming fresh out of the gate. I think it will take some time to get where we win consistently.

  • DKnight007

I think Raiders will struggle vs Scam and the Pantehrs improved D. It’s an east coast game as well. Raiders usually blow game they should win

Tampa game is here in Oak, tho that should be a win.

  • RaiderRockstar

Cam Newton will rush for 120 yards & 2 TD’s against the Raiders this year. he’ll throw 1 TD and 3 INT’s (Bartell, Huff & Giordano)

we’ll shut down thier 3-headed RB machine. they will kick 2 FG’s

Raiders win 38-27, Palmer & crew going ape ish on that pathetic defense

  • DKnight007

The defense will need to play much better this year and Knapps offense can’t become to predictable and conservative.

  • guest123

I too am worried about Knapps often conservative playcalling. I don’t think he will have much of a choice but to turn Palmer loose if the defense can’t hold the other team down. If the defense does its job, Knapps offense can churn out 25 pts a game easy. But that might not be enough to get it done. The question is can Knapp find a higher gear for this offense?

Details of potential Dwight Howard trade leaking. Magic get Lopez, picks.

    Kurt Helin
    Jul 9, 2012, 2:26 PM EDT

We start with this disclaimer — this deal is not yet approved. And complex deals can fall apart fast.

But this one is picking up steam and details of what the Dwight Howard three-team trade involving the Nets and Cavaliers might be are starting to leak out.

The deal remains in flux, but Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports (and who you can see on the NBC Sports Network tonight) broke down the details of the trade as of right now.

In the proposed deal, Howard, Jason Richardson and Earl Clark would be sent to Brooklyn, and the Magic would receive the Nets’ Brook Lopez, Damion James, Sheldon Williams, Cleveland’s Luke Walton and three future first-round picks, sources said. Cleveland would receive Orlando’s Quentin Richardson, Brooklyn’s Sundiata Gaines, Kris Humphries (on a one-year guaranteed deal), a first-round pick and $3 million from the Nets. Brooklyn also would send (MarShon) Brooks to a fourth team to get them an additional first-round pick to send to the Magic.

Both teams will want their doctors to examine the other key people in this trade — the Nets want to look at Howard’s back, the Magic at Lopez’s foot.

Even after that there are a lot of questions. Will Humphries sign a one-year deal in Cleveland or will he demand the security of a multi-year deal. Will Brooks agree to sign wherever he might land? What kind of picks can the Nets get for MarShon Brooks?

Then the big one, is this the best the Magic can do?

It’s a whole lot less than the Hornets were able to get back for Chris Paul.

You never get equal value trading an NBA superstar. There are maybe 10 (Bobcats GM Rich Cho will say less than that) in the NBA and you need one or more to win. When you get one, you fight not to let him go. And if you have to move him you never get equal value because you’re not getting another franchise anchor back.

But the question becomes, how much can you get back? What is enough?

That’s the question Orlando’s front office is weighing.

The Nets are pushing for it because if they land Howard to go with Deron Williams and Joe Johnson, they are a powerhouse title contender.

Saints D will suffer, but the offense should be fine.

  • guest123

I live within earshot of Orlando radio. Everyone seems to hate him. Fans, players he fought with in the locker room. Press. Everyone thinks he’s a cancer. But I agree that it’s always a losing trade getting rid of a franchise player. Orlando will be a lottery team for the next few years. It’s sad what an entitled dooshbag like Dwight Howard can do to the fate of a city.

  • RaiderRockstar

we’ll shut down thier 3-headed RB machine??

Tell us just how we do that, and consider that Cam makes it a 4 headed monster out of the backfield.

    ***

    @G123

the Raiders Run Defense will be MUCH improved this season and it has nothing to do with Rolando McClain. It has everything to do with Davis/Bresnahan out of the picture and Allen/Tarver inserted. Discipline. Players put in a position to succeed and utilize their strengths. disguises & blitzes. mixed coverages. being “multiple”. We’re not going to allow any team to physically just pound us into submission any longer.

Cam will get his yards off bootlegs and dropbacks when nobody is open and he runs up the gut for 10-12 yards. then a couple 1 or 2 yard TD plunges over the top or underneath. Am not worried about Williams/Stewart/Tolbert. They should be more worried about McFadden/Jones/Benson or perhaps a “revenge game” from Mike Goodson …
