Raider Nation Celebration all lined up

Those who wish to get their first look at the 2012 Raiders in a game have to wait until Aug. 13, when the Raiders kick off their exhibition season with a home game against the Dallas Cowboys.
However, the Raiders will provide a sneak peek at the 2012 Raiders on Aug. 12 at the Oakland Coliseum as part of Raider Nation Celebration day.
The event runs from 1 p.m.-4 in Parking Lot B on the south side of the Coliseum complex. Here is the press release issued by the Raiders:

The Oakland Raiders will celebrate the start of football this year with the Raider Nation Celebration on Sunday, August 12 from 1 – 4 p.m. at O.co Coliseum, in parking lot “B,” which is located on the south side of the Coliseum Complex.

This family-friendly event is free and open to the general public and takes place one day before the Oakland Raiders kick off the 2012 campaign in the national spotlight, hosting the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night, August 13.

The Raiders have hosted variations of this fan rally since 1998 at a number of locations throughout Oakland, including Jack London Square, Frank Ogawa Plaza and the Coliseum.

The Raider Nation Celebration will be highlighted by the introduction of first-year coach Dennis Allen and the 2012 Raiders and Raiderettes.

The event will also feature an interactive Kid’s Zone as well as autograph opportunities with Raider Legends and Raiderettes.

A number of exclusive opportunities – locker room tours for season ticket holders and a food tasting for suite holders – will also be part of this year’s Raider Nation Celebration.

Those attending the Raider Nation Celebration will be able to shop at special on site Raider Image, the team’s official store, and food and alcohol-free beverage concessions stands will be available to fans.

There will also be the opportunity for fans to select tickets for Raider games in what stacks up to be a challenging, exciting 2012 schedule. The Raiders also open the 2012 regular season in prime time, hosting AFC West rival San Diego Chargers on Monday night, September 10, in the second half of the ESPN double-header.

I wish no ill will on Soup Campbell. I hope that if he gets a chance in Chicago, he puts together his best ball and game manages them to the playoffs. Soup left it all on the field for the Raiders, and has to apologize to no one. Especially shameful is the way he was treated when Hue got his new toy in CP3. The comments Soup endured were out of line and he was a class act through it all.

Having said all that, I’m so glad he’s gone and we truly have a “real QB” in Carson Palmer.

    =============================================
    Yeah, I guess you’re right.

Really don’t want anything bad, like a serious injury, to happen to JC.

I think JC gave it his all and there’s no reason to be vindictive.

Just that I still think he’s a scrub and will be exposed as such if Cutler goes down.

Cleveland takes Josh Gordon in the 2nd round!

FIRST ROUND of Supplemental draft is over. No Picks.

    forget Josh Gordon , re-sign JLH !!

    Cleveland got their guy.

    —————–

Despite the fun we had debating Grads vs Soup in here, truth is neither is equipped to lead a team to greatness. They are both where they should be and we now have a ‘real QB’ as you said.

  • guest123

I’m really amazed he went that high. Cleveland is going to suck for eternity.

That’s all great news for us as our 2nd round pick just bubble sorted by one spot.

Bobcats finalizing deal with Ramon Sessions.

I’d like to see a 7th, maybe even a 6th used for Lumpkin

    why ??

not sold on Goodson & Jones?

    DAV, meet G123 !!

What good does it do to reach on a 2nd round sup if you have no QB? Good ole Cleveland. Bless their heart!

  • RaiderRockstar

now all they need to do is sign both Owens & Burress in FA, and trade a 4th rounder to us for Louis Murphy

Gordon isn’t going to make or break that lousy WR corps!

  • guest123

I agree Rockstar. Our backfield is set. I like what I see.

    DMAC, Jones, Goodson, Schmitt, Reece.

Don’t want more, don’t need more. They will will be weekly rentals and/or camp fodder. We’re good already. Reggie did his homework filling out the RB card.

Cleveland has a 28 yo rookie QB who is going to “learn” the WCO, a stud rookie RB, decent OL, and the awe inspiring group of Massoquoi, Little, and Gordon. Go ahead and pencil them into the top of the draft board for 2013.

DJ Sully Fresh is back, how is the FBI investigation going? I still have not got a call from them or the CIA for emailing you.

Not sure its one of their top priorities protecting a blog troll DJ tosser but hey you never know.

If they pan out, Browns have a really good nucleus of offensive weapons.

    QB Weeden
    RB Richardson
    WR Gordon
    WR Little
    WR Benjamin
    TE Cameron

  • RaiderRockstar

    sorry, DAV

I was thinking of Kregg Lumpkin …

  • RAIDERMAN99

One of the things about JC that drove me nuts…

It seemed like a given that the Raids would blow a time-out or two on their first possession with him at the helm.

I’d like to blame that on Hue, but that nonsense ended immediately when Palmer stepped in.

One curiosity of the 2011 season…

Pretty early on, Palmer was running the no huddle with what appeared to be excellent command. It was almost Manningesque. All of a sudden, that facet of the offense disappeared.

Don’t know why, but we rarely saw the no huddle towards the end of the year.

Kind of baffling, isn’t it ?

  • DennisAllensVisor

Blake Griffin hurt his knee at Team USA scrimmage & is heading back to LA to be examined by team Doctors.

  • RaiderRockstar

as JFB points out, Jason Campbell is a pretty lousy QB in November & December …

is Cutler goes down, it better be EARLY in the season and it better not be a season-ending injury.

otherwise they’ll be watching the playoffs at home on the couch, like Minnesota

You hit the nail on the head and one of Palmer’s great strengths is the ability to make a read at the LOS.

I too have often wondered why that was good point!

I think we’ll see it ALOT more this year. Especially with him having a “FIRM” grasp of the offense and a complete offseason to get on page with his teammates. Good things are about to happen.

I like the Browns, but they need a new GM. Holmgren is a good coach and that’s it.

  • raidertbone

Speaking of Dallas, i’ll tell you all right now – by far the worst color man OF ALL TIME is in Dallas: former never-has-been QB Babe Laufenberg. If you’ve never heard him before, tune in during the Raiders game next month. As much money as Jerry Jones has, you’d think he could get someone who could at least speak and think semi-coherently … not just another Ricky!

  • guest123

One thing I really like and can relate to about Reggie’s first Raider draft pick Tony Bergstrom.

In a recent interview was asked what his X-box handle was. He said something like… “honestly, I’ve not played a video game for a year”. But go and see Wang’s interview and he’s a “gamer”. I like my rookie O-linemen to have football as their hobby, not childish video games. Well said Bergstrom, well said.

  • raidertbone

Bottom line — Bergstrom is a “baller” … truly more of what we really need!
