If Pat Kirwan says it, that’s good enough for me; now, just waiting on all the juicy details …

  • http://www.GodIsImaginary.com RaiderDuck

If this story is true, it’s a little ridiculous that neither Cork, Jerry or even Jon Becker has seen fit to post SOMETHING about it. Were Twitter up, I’d be asking Cork, Jerry and Paul G. about it right now.

  • Marks hair

Jerry & cork ask their own softball stupid questions.. They HAVE to.. Its the same dumb questions..

  • Marks hair

Already problems with the new staff… Sigh..

  • r8eray

Heard he was just packing to head to Napa! Just a story blown out of proportion!

Steve Wisniewski is no longer a coach with the Oakland Raiders.

A source close to the situation confirmed a tweet from Pat Kirwan of CBS Sports that Wisniewski is no longer the assistant offensive line coach with Oakland. He was going to assist new offensive line coach Frank Pollack. The Raiders are moving to a zone-blocking scheme. Wisniewski was the assistant offensive line coach in Oakland last year and he was considered a bright, young coach.

The source said Wisniewski decided not to coach because he wants spend more time with his family. NFL coaches work upward of 100 hours a week.

Wisniewski, a former Raiders offensive lineman, is expected to work with the Raiders is a lesser capacity, perhaps in a game-day role. Thus, his strong relationship with the team is intact.

His departure from the staff should not impact his nephew, Oakland center Stefen Wisniewski at all. He was a standout at guard as a rookie. He is transitioning to center. The source said Stefen Wisniewski understood his uncle’s decision.

  • The Big Banana

ESPN reporting he decided not to coach to spend more time with family, and that his relationship with the team is intact. He’s taking on a lesser role and will be involved in a game-day role.

  • The Big Banana

    Beat me to it, Ray

  • hwnrdr

That is good news to end the riot!

  • Marks hair

Bad sign.. Maybe wiz was on scholarship too? He seemed like he’d make a good coach though.

  • Marks hair

    Thanx ray..
Looks like we’re gonna be a man short..

  • guest123

I don’t blame Uncle Wiz for leaving that 100 hour a week job. What a grind. Week to week work on Sundays sounds like it would be fun. For asst coach pay, that’s gotta be like fast food worker pay by the hour.

Wow, the iron curtain has fallen.

  • Raiderbuck

Twitter is down, good, it’s not just me :)

  • http://www.raiderettes.com Sullivan44

Of course Wiz was a scholarship coach. How many other teams were trying to get him? That’s pretty much the litmus test.

  • The Big Banana

For those of you on the fence, this team is becoming a hot ticket so get in while you can. Expect season ticket sales to be up.

  • RAIDERMAN99

Corky deserves to be blasted for several things, but picking the Raids to finish last in the AFC West isn’t one of them.

When asked about the Raider chances, all he’s ever said is the division is wide open and the Raids should be in the thick of things.

I’d be willing to bet he figures the Raids to be around 7-9, and that might very well have them in the thick of things all season, while finishing 4th.

You want to blast Corky ?

Blast him for never breaking a story.
Blast him for mistakes like ‘DHB is the 6th best WR on the roster’ or ‘Oakland will destroy SD week 17, the Bolts have mailed it in’.

Most of all, blast him for not regularly updating this blog in order to keep the comment count reasonable. We’ve seen plenty of instances of days without a post from Steve and the comment count exceeding 2k.

  • Raiderbuck

Wiz any good at zone blocking? I actually don’t remember. Wiz is a Raider for life, I still have a man crush.

  • Marks hair

We’ll finally get some in depth reporting from practice..

  • TxRaider210

Since twitter is down, if my followers are curious, I’m dropping a mean deuce right now(on the clock).

  • JR

Too bad about Wisniewski leaving as o-line coach.

More and more, the Raider mystique of the past is disappearing.

Al, Jack Tatum, Ben Davidson pass away, and then a great guy like this leaves the staff.

Man, the future better start NOW.
