Raiders’ Wiz resigns as assistant line coach
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Thursday, July 26th, 2012 at 11:04 am in Oakland Raiders.
Assistant offensive line coach Steve Wisniewski resigined his position due to personal reasons, the Raiders announced Thursday.
Wisniewski was retained on coach Dennis Allen’s staff to work with line coach Frank Pollack as the team shifted its philosophy to a strictly zone blocking team.
The club’s release said Wisniewski would continue to assist the Raiders as an “ambassador.’’
The team will not fill Wisniewski’s position on the coaching staff.
Wisniewski joined the Raiders staff last season after previously working as a strength and conditioning assistant on the Stanford staff of Jim Harbaugh. His nephew, Stefen Wisniewski, is slated to be the Raiders’ starting center this season.

Why did Wiz wait so long to de-commit from the grind of a 100 hour a week job that he didn’t complain about last year? Didn’t he interview for this job back in February? Why string out this decision till now?
It looks like Pollack is going to have to make due with less and it’s too bad Wiz didn’t share his job outlook and family commitment issues earlier.

B,just how did HJ do JC wrong? He wasn’t supposed to get the best player to take his place he possibly could?

Really, nobody thinks that he resigned for “personal reasons” to spend more time with his family might mean he is having family drama/problems? I would rather have him resign than be a distraction for the team…

Thank you Raiders for the free tix to Camp. Now I can take the wife to Napa and actually enjoy myself on the outing. Who are these Raiders and why are they so friendly now?

Bummer. Don’t let it drag the interior guys down though.
Lefty, Huge, threw Soup under the bus so far JaJason could have been changing the u-joints. He dis-respected him, that’s all.

Something is not right.

That’s what I was wondering. He’s already been putting in huge hours, and was about to leave for a month of training camp. Maybe his wife threatened to walk out or something…

I’m not buying this 100 hours/ week story. He was a coach last year, so he knew the job was very demanding with long hours, so why now? A few days before TC?
I don’t like it!
July 26th, 2012 at 11:17 am
How did he disrespect him,by going out and getting a better QB that the team desperately needed?Aren’t coaches always supposed to be looking to improve their teams?

JC was pissed b/c he heard about the trade watching TV. Hue denied it.

I’m not buying the 100 hour per week alibi either. I think there some meeting that led to the shakeup. But this organization doesn’t want to air out any drama, they have had their fill of preseason drama with the Tom Cable days. Just tell a story and stick to it. Family first blah blah blah…

AIG,
I thought you were divorced bro. Are you not the one who was trying to convice another poster to consider divorce?
LOL

EXACTLY.

Look, Wiz. We appreciate all you’ve done for the organization, but we’re officially out of the business of hiring our ex-players as coaches, because we’re not insane anymore. But, we’ll let you resign just to save face. Oh, and we’re going to need your office by this afternoon. Thanks a bunch!

Raider O,
Was married at 24 and divorced at 30. Got hitched up again when my current wife got pregnant when I was 35. It’s been 5 years and counting. The second time is better and, just like anything else in life, experience counts. No I dont believe in staying married while being miserable. If you’re miserable in your marriage, move on. Happy parents make happy kids. Miserable parents…well that’s another post.

It wasn’t just trading for Palmer, but all those statements Hue and Al Saunders made about “When Carson walked onto the practice field for the first time, you could see everyone’s eyes light up, ’cause THERE’S a real quarterback!” Also, Campbell’s not stupid. You don’t trade a first and second rounder for a QB to be your backup. He was being shoved out the door and he knew it.
July 26th, 2012 at 11:34 am
I can think of two other possibilities:
1) Al was letting him slide on his work commitments last year because Al loved him and Wylie didn’t really need any help. This year, EVERYBODY’S expected to give the full 100%, and that’s what caused Wiz’s family rift.
2) He never played the ZBS system. Maybe he doesn’t know how to coach it, or maybe his instructions on hand placement and whatnot were running afoul of Pollack’s.

Aig,
Good for you bro, and I’m glad you are happy. You only live once, so you should dp your best to be happy. You are also right about kids, They need a healthy environment.

Wiz is now off the Raiders’ coaches page.
July 26th, 2012 at 11:37 am
Duck-that is professional sports. There is always someone being brought in to compete. If your ego is so fragile you can’t handle it,you should get out.Not a Hue fan,but he did what any competent coach/GM should have done.

Yo O,
Thanks man. Just called the San Jose Raider Image and I plan on being there at 10am tomorrow to get my tix. Yeah Baby!!!
Can’t wait for 8/3.

How many times have we heard politicians say…”I want to spend more time with my family”? That’s what you say when you don’t want to give the real reason.
July 26th, 2012 at 12:45 pm
Maybe Big Wiz has a close family member that is ill and wants to spend time with them? Who knows, guess time will tell…
