Raiders sign Bergstrom, set sights on Criner

The Raiders signed third-round draft pick Tony Bergstrom on the eve of training camp, as expected. That leaves wide receiver Juron Criner as the only unsigned player on Oakland’s roster.
As was the case with Bergstrom, the Raiders aren’t expected to have any difficulty getting Criner under contract and on the field in Napa on time for camp.
Bergstrom is being looked at as a guard for now. He is capable of playing guard and tackle. He was Oakland’s top pick in this year’s NFL draft, with the final selection of the third round.

Criner better watch out, Reg isn’t a push-over and 144k bonus is fair for a supplemental pick.

    34. Its not about shut down corners. Its about dbs that create takeaways..
    ————————-
Actually its about systems that put the DBs into position to get TOs.

  • TxRaider210

He’s comparing his value decline to a normal draft pick, supplementals hold a lower salary value.

  • lefty12

Looks like some of you guys new practice pro bowler might be a diva!Hold fast Reg.

  • TxRaider210

Reg needs to put his agent in place, Criner hasn’t played a down yet in the NFL.

  • aig-raiders

    Duck,
Since 1998, the majority of SB teams won without having a shut down corner. As a matter of fact, you can go back to the Niners and Cowboys as the last teams to truly have a shut down corner in Deion. Pitt, Pats, Giants, and Steelers were multiple SB winners with an avg CB tandem. Shut down corners are overrated. We need to spend money and draft picks on developing our front 7. If there ever was a time for Al to stick to workout wonders, JPP was that DUDE.

  • cranium68

Still, Criner better stay healthy and make some plays… it would be awesome if he could produce in the red zone the way he did at Arizona – think he averaged 11 TDs the past two years there. Shoot – half that production as a rookie would be great. Of course, still a long road to the 53-man roster – nothing is guaranteed.

The guy was a supplemental 5th round pick-essentially a 6th rounder.Be happy someone picked you, sign your contract, and get your ass into camp.

Couldn’t agree more. Does it seem like the NFL diva quotient is split 50/50 between WRs and everyone else?

  • lefty12

    Duck-75/25 with WRs the 75.

    Aig,

I agree with you about the importance of the front 7, but I do believe there is more than one way to build a SB team.
Pitt has a great front 7 and they have a great Ballhawk SS (Troy).
Giants have a great DL that can create presure without blitzing.
    F the pats! lol

See the above article. It’s Criner’s agent that’s being a jerk, not Reggie.

    HOLY CRUD

My inside sources tell me KrappyRat AND Brian the Genital will be attending THE SAME Raider practice on Friday at 2pm!

That means they both got their paws on free tixs and, after all these years of bickering and whining, will finally be able to settle their differences in person!

Hopefully they find a peaceful resolution, but with KrappyRat sure to soil his overalls in an old troll rage and Genital hell bent on proving he’s not just some dork with a dorm fridge, sparks are sure to fly

The Beeech Diggity and the Certified Platinum Posse will be on this story all week, check back often for hella sweet updates

PM PARTY PATROL N FULL EFFECT

I like Branch a lot (one of my favorite Raiders), I think he is a top 10 safety, but I doubt he can be like Troy or Reed.
According to Sreve and Jerry, he has bad hands. I think he is just as good ad Yroy in coverage, but Troy has better hands and instincts.

  • http://www.Raiders.com KoolKell

Yeah, Reggie throws nickels around like they were man-hole covers.

  • http://www.raiders.com Raider O

    Amy Trask has been warned.
    LOL

  • The Beeech Dawg

KrappyRat in the house, what’s up old troll?

The blog is buzzing about your highly anticipated face-to-face meeting with Brian the Genital at Friday’s free practice.

You know he’s going to be there right?

What are your thoughts on the topic, Krapster?

  • lefty12

So do you believe Reggie should give in,KK?

  • lefty12

    Never mind.

Can you believe these 2 blog goofs are finally going to meet in person … at a Raider’s practice no less!

It’s everything the PMPP has been working towards all these months, bong loads for everyone

  • blackandsilverside

Chasing pennies while stepping over thousand dollar bills: you wonder if Criner has any common sense?

Plus, I am not sure the $14K in bonus money is actually at issue; that is just what a reporter somewhere wrote.

  • http://www.Raiders.com KoolKell

I’m just saying. Reggie is a very deliberate man.

  • Marks hair

    52. So I guess namdi had a bunch of picks in his new system? It has nothing to do with hands & receving instincts huh?

  • The Beeech Dawg

My guess is Brian the Genital will clean Krappy’s clock

Unless he gets too scared the troll has a few old fashioned Navy tricks up his sleeve, and stays home to watch Forrest Gump

You all know he’s got a history of not showing up (ahem … Ritz Carlton, marina del rey)

    The plot indeed thickens!

  • TxRaider210

One thing is guaranteed, Criner will lose more than 14k in jersey sales behind a holdout.

  • Marks hair

    75. Yeah idk.. That seem like a bullshlt artical..

  • lefty12

Nnamdi had 9 picks one year playing in a system that fit him.Bums cut by other teams go to Balt and get multiple picks yearly. It is the system.

  • lefty12

    Its article.

  • RAIDERMAN99

So we go from Al convincing Javon to uselessly hang around and collect 10 million to Reggie sweating 14k ?

    Sweet !

Message to Criner: Can’t blame you for wanting to wrestle every nickle out of Reggie. Keep in mind though, you’ve got zero leverage. It would be one thing if Reggie was trying to severely lowball you. Even if you feel you’re getting slightly short-changed, you might want to look at the bigger picture and forget about what amounts to chump change in the long run if you’re to have a decent career. What are you going to do ? Hold out over 14k ? Get real and get in camp.

  • Marks hair

    Its artical when your high

    83. It might be his only contract..

  • DJ Johnny

If Criner holds out for 14k who looks worse? This rookie FIFTH ROUNDER who hasn’t played a single down or a cheap azz GM who won’t pony up a measly 14k?

    This is ridiculous.

I’ve never heard in this day and age a contract dispute/holdout situation over 14,000 dollars.

  • TxRaider210

This would be on Criner and agent, he needs to be at camp and Reg knows more than both of them.

Great point. I think Reggie should give it to him. He is not asking for much, and he is not asking for 3rd or 4th round money.
    Pay the man!!

  • TxRaider210

Reg should give him the cash, after he beats out Streater in camp, if not give the 14k to Streater.lol

  • lefty12

DJ-he is slotted and wants more than he is slotted to get.If Reg gives in other agents will try the same BS.People are always complaining about how we were always in cap hell. Now we have a GM who will fight to keep it in line.Hold fast Reg.

  • Marks hair

Its not a holdout yet.. Nobody holds out for 14k..lol

  • DJ Johnny

If Reggie let’s him walk some other team will snap him up and gladly pay the measly 14k.

I’m sure everyone’s heard of Criners OTA achievements.

Hmmm, where we have heard of Raider GM’s who worry more about saving face and their ego’s than what’s important to the team’s success?

  • Twocents

    My two questions are:
Did Reggie follow league protocol with the other supplemental picks?
Do all other GMs follow league protocol?

Why? So every agent can demand more than their rookie client is due? Criner needs to sign his fair offer and get in here. Overpaying for unproven talent was Al’s way. Al’s gone.

Yes, it might be. Could be he doesn’t even make the team. Might tear up a knee in camp.

    Who knows ?

But what’s he gonna do ? Hold out until camp is over with and hope Reggie is going to pony up some more coin at that time ?

Refuse to sign at all and sit out the season ?

    He’ll wind up signing.

KK Munster, how does a happily married real estate tycoon have time to blog around the clock 7 days a week?

  • TxRaider210

    Yep
If Criner beats Streater, give him the 14k, Streater wins he deserves a small bonus for beating Criner. He needs to be careful because Reg puts team first.

  • Raidernationdave

    Done.

    Whut up beyotches!

  • http://www.raiders.com Raider O

Avoiding distractions and making a player happy is worth the 14k IMO.
I’m not saying we should overpay for talent like Al did, but Al never had a problem signing draft picks.
