Anyone else surprised at Chimdi’s demotion on the depth chart to Pat Lee?
    =========================================

Pat Lee was drafted by Reggie McKenzie and played very well in a Super Bowl. Checkwa was drafted by Al Davis and has done little if anything. Not alot to be surprised really.

Not even a broken leg could stop U.S. runner Manteo Mitchell from finishing the last 200 meters of his relay. With about half a lap of the 4 x 400-meter relay preliminaries to go, Mitchell felt a pop in his left leg. He finished the lap at 46.1 seconds, for a total of 2 minutes, 58.87 seconds, which led Team USA to tie for first with the Bahamas. After the race, a doctor informed him he had broken his left fibula. “I figured it’s what almost any person would’ve done in that situation,” Mitchell said.

  55. mcfadden20. Says:

I’m out as well .. Carry on Nation

  56. RaiderRockstar Says:

Lonyae Miller getting alot of snaps Monday? What have you seen from him during practice?

Impressive back. Runs hard, he’s decisive, deceptively fast and a bruiser.

In your opinion, which rookie will make the biggest impact on the team?

    Juron Criner this season.

How big of a step forward has Khalif Barnes taken in camp?

Khalif looks real comfortable in the zone-blocking scheme, which he played in when he was with the Jaguars. He isn’t jumping offsides much, he is doing real well in the one-on-one drills. Impressive so far.

Pat Lee a roster lock, Cork?

Getting closer and closer to being one, yes. Been impressive throughout camp.

Anything special glimpsed from D. Hamilton, K. Burnett or C. Powell so far? All 3 are intriguing as UDFAs, especially Hamilton

Love Hamilton and Burnett. Haven’t seen much of note from Chaz Powell, though. Could see one or two making the opening-day roster or practice squad, no doubt.

Does Schmitt’s arrival mean the end of Tonga?

    More than likely, it appears.

Who do you sneaks in at the bottom of the depth chart at WR?

Rod Streater, for sure. Final spot between Derek Carrier and Eddie McGee

Conroy Black a UDFA that makes the team? Aaron Henry?

Not sold on either making the team just yet.

Nathan Stupar, Christo or Crawford make team?

I could see all three making the team. It’s not likely, though. Bilukidi has the edge over the two others for now.

How’s Palmer’s chemistry with DHB? He always talks about good chemistry with Moore, but never mentions DHB

That’s because it’s a given based on Heyward-Bey’s production. No problem in that regard.

    Biggest weakness on offense?

For now, I say it’s the lack of a proven pass-catching tight end. It’s up to Brandon Myers and/or David Ausberry to step up and fill that void.

Any camp players under the radar that might explode on to the scene

    Dominique Hamilton, Pat Lee.

I’m not a Pesimist at all but lets remember that this D is going up against a Greg Knapp offense that is without Jones, Moore, now Goodson and probably a hesitant & sparingly used DMC. Along with a bunch of unproven WR’s & TE’s.

As always I have faith, and like all of you’s for the right reasons this year but, lets be real and not hope for gangbusters right out of the gate.

The pieces are in place for something special, how often does anyone do it over night?

Ya the Effin 9ers did last year and the Lions the year before so it CAN happen!

Let’s enjoy the presason without godly expectations and perhaps the team we all believe can show up, does so when it counts.

    —————

First year under a new coach is unpredictable, but I can’t wait to see a modern, multiple defense

Do we have the right personnel? Maybe. Shaughnessy could be a beast if healthy and we have some interesting linebackers, maybe McClain makes the leap this year.

Lots of questions at corner but I feel pretty good about our safeties. Huff & Branch have been solid, maybe they’ll reach the next level this year

Offensively, lots of question marks as well. What kind of chemistry does Palmer have with his receivers and maybe more importantly, do we have a legit starting TE? Someone has to emerge from the group.

Our O line at least has some answers – we know Veldheer and Wiz are young, potential Pro Bowlers. Carlisle is stopgap.

Preseason will give us a look at chemistry, but I don’t think we’re going to know what this team or coaching staff is made of until we get to week 3 or 4

If things go right and McFadden and Moore hold up we could be looking at playoffs, interested to see how Manning does with the Donks

Absolutely. Defense is all “Attitude”. And defenses tend to take on the personality of their Captain “MLB”..

    Beeecher

Nice post on the Raiders man, good to hear your insight on our guys in Black n Silver. I think the O will be just fine, would like solid defense and penalties fixed. As you mentioned though, having guys healthy will be the key.

    ——————

I’m wondering why Huff hasn’t made the switch to corner, I keep hearing about his coverage

I’d feel better if he locked down one side and DVD, Bartell, etc. battled it out for the other. Loser gets the nickle

Guess Mitchell isn’t ready yet to be an every down guy or Chekwa isn’t versatile enough to make the switch

And when is the Pryor at QB experiment going to end? Hopefully Carson can give us another 4 or 5 years, he’d be sitting anyway. Might as well run with the TEs

Athletically he could be the next Antonio Gates, holla

  94. TxRaider210 Says:

    Beeecher

Dude, if healthy, don’t worry bout Bartell..he’s big and physical and will show up imo. I think Huffy has good closing speed, so they keep him out there for that reason, but he is decent at CB. Pryor will show us on Monday what he has, maybe a few hiccups, but he will run and stiff arm guys all day. Freak of nature athlete

  95. TxRaider210 Says:

Gonna check out RG3, will report back in a bit.lol

  96. TxRaider210 Says:

    RG3 bad hand-off for a turnover

  97. Just Fire Baby Says:

Was RGIII under center for the fumble?

That’s the thing with these college QB’s these day (almost all of them), they are in shotgun so much of the time, that handing it off is actually something they have to learn to do.

  98. DJ Johnny Says:

Check this out. I’m listening to Chicago 670 AM (Sports station) to ‘Bears All Access’ and the guests are Bush and JC.

Lemme tell you it’s a total freaking Raiders and love fest..from both of them..including the host.

I even took some notes to share w/ u guys.

The host intro’d them and talked about covering the Bear Raider game last yr.

“You guys..coming from Oakland played in the infamous black hole. Let me tell you, you can say anything u want about Philadelphia and other places but the scariest place in the league BY FAR is the Oakland Coliseum. I’ve never been more scared and nervous at a stadium than I was walking down that tunnel.”

Bush: “They call it the black hole for a reason. The fans are great. Some guys when they leave a team say bad stuff about the team they came from but i’m not gonna say nothin bad about the Raiders or the organization or nothin. I loved it there. When you’re winning there aint no better place to be. The fans where those halloween masks and all that and they try and intimidate the other team and anybody with that team”.

Host: “Haaaah. It works” (laffter). Tell me Jason about your time in Oakland”.

JC: “It was great. I wouldn’t trade my experience there for the world. We had a good young team and we were heading for the playoffs for sure, but…we just came up short. I got injured..other guys went down and it hurt us. I loved it in Oakland but it’s just time to move on and make the best of this opportunity”.

There’s more i’ll tell u about…but they went on to talk about Al…(all positive) and it was just a big love fest.

There was more praise and respect for the Raiders on Chicago radio than i’ve ever heard from bay area media, and to come from two former Raiders…it was kind of weird.

Nothing but love and respect from JC and Bush toward the Raider org.

  99. Raiders for life Says:

    Right on DJ!

  100. DJ Johnny Says:

One of the things I came away with from the interview was JC and Bush acting like it was “cool” to be from the Raiders. They talked about Raider “mystique” being real and valid and spoke highly of “Mr. Davis” as both referred to him.

Seriously, you’d think they were just signed by Reggie and doing their first Raider presser…not Bears.

There was no laffing about Al or “dysfunctional” talk…complete opposite.

I have a new respect for how classy they both were and the host was cool as well.

Shaughnessy is a strong guy, but he lacks speed and burst, and he has health issues since he was in college. I think he can get us double digit sacks, but IMO he is a Better fit at LE. He can play the run well, and he can rush the passer, but his strength is playing the run.

Yep. The protection was very good. Manning’s footwork within the pocket is superb. He will slide around in the pocket or step up to avoid the rush. Knows where his guys are. Knows where the defenders are. Gets rid of the ball quickly when necessary.

Hope his arm falls off bcz he’s going to be trouble.

    Hate the fkng Mules.

Randy Hanson’s first season as an assistant football coach at Cal Poly is possibly over before it ever really got started.

Hanson, who made headlines when he was an assistant coach for the Oakland Raiders in 2009, was arrested Sunday morning for his alleged involvement in an altercation in which he allegedly struck a person with a beer bottle.

Hanson, who was brought in to coach the Mustangs defensive backs in the secondary this past April, was suspended indefinitely Monday.

“All I can do right now is confirm that Coach Hanson has been suspended while we gather information on the incident,” Don Oberhelman, Cal Poly’s athletics director, wrote in an email Tuesday.

Hanson was reportedly arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after an altercation broke out the early morning hours of Sunday, Aug. 5, at Harry’s Nightclub & Beach Bar in Pismo Beach.

Police arrested Hanson after he was accused of striking someone with the bottle after a fight broke out at the landmark bar located on Cypress Street in the heart of Pismo.

Hanson made bail after he was booked into County Jail.

In what may or may not be a coincidence, last Sunday’s incident occurred almost exactly three years to the day that Hanson, 44, alleged former Raiders coach Tom Cable violently attacked him when he was an assistant in Oakland.

He did step up in the pocket and throw a nice one on 3rd and long but there was not the usual Manning “zip”.

He overthrew a guy in the endzone then on the next play (on the int) the ball WAS well behind Stokely.

I’m not just drinking kool aid on this. Of course he concerns me; it’s Peyton Manning..but all in all I don’t see what everyone’s raving about as far as what he did tonight.

From what I read about his performance BEFORE I saw this replay I honestly expected him to look better.

If the defender catches that easy int. Manning doesn’t drive the field. It should have ended right there.

    Somewhat.

After all, it was the acquisition of Campbell that facilitated kicking JaMoron to the curb.

We should be eternally grateful for that.

However, Jason will primarily be remembered as a decent game manager, in the sense that he did a pretty good job avoiding throwing picks. There were extremely few, if any, games where an observer could say JC’s stellar play carried the Raids to victory.

When Jason stunk, it was really bad.

His games against the Titans, Rams, Steelers and Whiners were classic examples of pure ineptitude.

You know how you can tell that a guy is a total scrub ?

When you can release him and have absolutely no concern that he might come back in another uniform and beat you. In fact, as a Raider fan, I’d always relish the opportunity to face off against JaMoron or JC.

    Almost a gauranteed W.

Impossible to read too much into Peyton’s first game with the Broncos. He threw like two times, but one of them could have been easily picked. Had forever in the pocket, but I agree that won’t be the case in a full regular season game.

The “experts” may bluster and fart about how bad the Raiders are going to be that year, but I’d put that lineup against any in the AFC West.

Hey guys, was talking to my pops last night and my lil sister got an offer to play starting QB. It’s some type of full contact women’s league and she’d play in Nebraska or Wisconsin I think. I’m pumped for her, my dad says she’s benching like 250. damn!

  352. Bob Marley Says:

I watched Manning, the guy is not all the way back but he seems on his way, even if he doesn’t get there, Peyton at 80% is still better than most QB’s, specially when it comes to the mental part of the game, making adjustments at the Line and all that stuff.

It remains to be seen if he can stay healthy the whole season, Denver’s RB’s are average at best and I’m not sure they want to put everything on Peyton’s arm.

Overall, Denver fans should be happy, but man I don’t know how they can go all season wincing every time someone gets near Peyton, it’s going to be a stressfull season for them and I don’t think it’s gonna end well.

The mental part is the huge advantage to Mannings game. However even with all of that, if I could only choose one QB to go to war with, I’d take Carson over Peyton any day. I think he’s just flat better all around than a declining, but still good Peyton. One is ascending and the other is descending.

Also, on their “travel report” section about going to every camp, they listed the most impressive players they have seen thus far in training camps.

Our very own Carson Palmer was THIRD (!!!!) behind only Brees and Brady. Peyton was 5th.

I agree, he’s the one Chargers defensive player I’m really really worried about.

Chargers got a steal in that kid. I LOVED him coming out of the draft to the point I would’ve taken him over any defensive player in the draft except Morris Claiborne and maybe Mark Barron. I realize I was probalby unique in that position, but man alive that kid is impressive.

Not surprising. All the local beat writers have been raving about Carson. Only speed bump so far has been Bucky Brooks report where he saw half of one practice and mused about Carson being inconsistent in Knapp’s mobile WCO. So far so good. 5 stars to Carson, who will prove himself to be the best QB in the AFC West this year.

“Bears All Access” w/ Zack Zademan should have been “Raiders All Access” last night.

Really classy to hear Bush and J. Campbell rave about their time in Oakland.

The host (Zademan) is petrified of the ‘Black Hole’ (funny) and Bush and JC were treated like the “cool guys” coming from bad boy Oaktown, and they played it up like that.

I’ve never heard former Raiders talk so glowingly about their time here. No laffing about “dysfunction” or “Mr. Davis”. Bush went out of his way to say he’s not gonna say anything bad about Oakland, he loved his time here and the same w/JC.

Zademan: “Tell me guys about the Raider mystique”.

Bush: “It’s for real. There’s something about Oakland…the fans, the organization…it was great”.

The only negative thing was whn asked about the Bear offense compared to Oakland Bush said “it’s more polished”. JC agreed.

Talk about bad luck for Ryan Mathews, first carry and lands on his shoulder with one or two guys above him, that was a freak injury, not that it rarely happens because it often does, but you can’t fault a guy for that kind of stuff and the clavicle will remain tender for a while, might hinder his entire season if he rushes himdelf back.

But seriously, Knapp’s offense is not very explosive, one of our young weapons might break a big-play but this offense needs to get in a groove and Knapp is a progression play-caller, he’ll try to establish the run and work from there, it’s methodic and it will drive a lot of us crazy but if executed properly it can be very effective.

He’s been around AWHILE and didn’t look too stunning. I’m hoping Pryor shows a little something, I mean he had the game of his life in the Rose Bowl 2010, and won the Sugar Bowl the following year, and it’s NOT because they had STELLAR receivers or a hiesman running back. Because that San Diego WR did get hit fairly well(it was the kid Brown), but he hopped right up and later caught a TD pass.

It would be nice if Ronaldo was a more violent banger, but I’ll settle for a reliable tackler at this point.

Having a defense of reliable tacklers on the 2nd and 3rd levels will help limit some unnecessary long gains, but you still want a guy that offenses fear.

    An intimidator.

Can’t have too many Mike Puffs. Doubt he’s ever knocked anyone out.

But I think it’s way overrated in contrast to having a technically proficient defender who meets the carrier at the point of attack and brings him down. We need a little more heady brainy tactician play and a little less “bully” play. The suplex looks good from time to time, but it’s not as effective as smart consistent play that forces consistent 3 and outs.

I thought Manning looked very good last night.

Off a little on some of his throws but I expect that to improve once the rust is gone and he gets better acclimated to the WR’s.

Didn’t see enough to be convinced the arm strength is where it should be, but the pass to the left sideline got there with more than enough steam and was on the money.

On the 3rd and 15 conversion, he stepped up and delivered a strike.

He might not have looked great, but it was a solid debut and I didn’t like seeing it.

I thought Peyton looked pretty decent.

Of his 3 incompletions, one was a flat drop, one was in the corner of the end zone where the timing was off by a fraction of a second, and the INT which was thrown a tad behind the WR and the DB made a great play on the ball.

Good, not great, but a decent baseline if this is his floor.

If you are going to have an intimidating defensive presence, 99% of the time it will come from your MLB or D-line.

A nickle safety (like the Missile) isn’t going to intimidate anyone, nor is a DC/HC.

    ===============================================
DC/HC won’t intimidate but they can have offenses bamboozled, confused and looking for stuff that isn’t even there.

A safety like Tatum will have Wides thinking twice when going over the middle. Alligator arms and intimidation drops are wonderful white flags to see the offense waving.

Now that he is at least able to cope with his loss, and appears to be on the right track when it comes to diet and exercise, he is free to let his game and talent come to the surface. I love the idea of prepared meals and a former raider, as his shadow. I think all of you that have hated on no.2 to this point are in for a shock, and those that have supported him will be pleased. i think the kid is getting it, and is continuing the maturation process that started for him last year after being benched.

JC is same ole guy. Short passes and dumpoffs.

It’s what he does. A formula that has been somewhat successful for him.

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

It was definitely successful for us.
    ===============================================

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Hilarious!! Hue gets us to .500 for only the 2nd time in the last 10 years, and you have the nerve to talk about “guaranteed wins”??? Sht, Matt Moore and Tim Tebow beat us like we stole something last year. And in case you don’t remember, Campbell put a beatdown on us in Oakland in 2009. Funny thing is we kicked Palmer’s ass that same year.

  582. RaiderDebo Says:

I think the sheep on this board better start curbing their enthusiasm just a little about Palmer. Training camp reports are fun and all, but the regular season is a totally different story. Palmer has put two straight years of bad tape out there. The guy has a lot to prove. I’d be a hell of a lot more excited about our MVP, McFadden. If that guy gets hurt and Palmer starts airing out, we could be picking in the top 5 next year.

This is a fantastic post my Mistic. The guy was on track to get things turned around. He was proclaimed by the media during the 1st minicamp practice as “the best QB on the field”. In his last two games for us the previous season, he beat Denver in heroic fashion and played pretty damn well against the Ravens with zero protection from the O-line in either game. The benching and getting back Chaz obviously helped the guy tremendously. It’s been a few years, but I still don’t get why Al caved and cut him.

Not quite. Never said the report meant he was going to come out and have a great season, or that he would even start. But never in a million years did I think he would get CUT at that point. #1 overall pick and paid almost $40 million?? If the guy just shows up breathing, he should at least have made it to training camp! JaMarcus “regressed” in only his 2nd year as a starter after getting a downgrade in OC and QB coach, no running game, rookies Louis Murphy and DHB at WR, and Mario Henderson at LT. Your damn right he deserved a “fresh starts”, espcieally since he showed improvement at the end of the season. Carson Palmer, on the other hand, is going into his 10th year. He flat-out quit on the Bengals, a team that immediately got better with his departure. And his piss-poor play doomed us to yet another year without a playoff appearance after JC got us off to our most promising start in a decade. Palmer got his “fresh start” last year. There’s no question the guy was a top-tier QB like 5 or 6 years ago. But that’s been my whole problem with the trade from the very beginning. Fact is the guy’s been on the decline for at least the last 3. And we still gave up so much to bring him here to continue the downward spiral. Pay the guy all the money you want, but I hate seeing this team blow off high draft picks for players like him. You call me a “Debbie Downer”, I say I’m a realist. Anything is possible. He wouldn’t be the 1st guy to turn his career around and he has what many, including future HOFer Champ Bailey, calls the best back in the NFL behind him. But even if all that were true, the guy made a very strong push to redeem himself 2010. I just don’t agree with cutting him off at the knees when he’s putting forth the effort and had an improved coaching staff and supporting cast waiting for him.

Why would they move to LA when you know they’re going to sell out every game this year?

    Optimism is in the air.

Let me ask you guys this…seriously!
IF Mark Davis either moves the team back to LA or sells the team to whoever and relocates them back to LA…would you all still follow?

And in the near future you will also have the Chargers. Will you SoCal guys constantly fill this OAKLAND Raider board with Charger chatter when they return home?

  730. weaselbit Says:

    I would.
But only if they stay in California.
    Prefer Oakland.

I’d still follow the Raiders, but I’ll put it this way…please let it be the Dolts.

watch a little of the Bears/Broncos game last night. In looking at Josh McKown playing, it just reminded me of how low we set the bar in some of our past years. Oh yes, in addition to Soup & MBush, they also had McKown & Ware. A lot of Oakland back-ups & rejects. What are they becoming, Oakland’s farm team?

    patrol car

By Associated Press, Published: August 7

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Police in Arkansas are investigating whether a man fatally shot himself in the head as he sat in the backseat of a patrol car with his hands cuffed behind his back.

    C’mon now.

    ++++++++++=

The guy had “special powers”. How else could you conceal a weopon after being serched twice, sit handcuffed in the back of a police car and then shoot yourself in the back of the head.

I don’t believe somebody still wants to make excuses for the big fat guy with the fur coat that used to try to play QB for the Raiders.

    Nothing better to do?

I hope its not the old black and white thing again, but I’ll try to put it in black and white for you: the guy was no good.

  737. r8eray Says:

Raiders defensive lineman Richard Seymour is worried about the replacement officials the NFL has hired, questioning whether the league has taken care to hire people who not only understand the rules of the NFL, but will apply those rules fairly.

“I think the integrity of the game is at stake,” Seymour told USA Today. “You never know who they know and who they’re connected to. And who are their favorite teams. To just say we’ve got some new guys coming in, who knows? They might admire Peyton Manning.”

It seems rather unlikely that some official who’s a Peyton Manning fan would consciously decide to make calls to help Manning. But it is a concern that the NFL has apparently relaxed its normal standards in hiring replacement officials while the regular officials and the NFL are involved in a contract dispute. Seymour says he’s worried about second-rate officials making big mistakes.

“It’s just the unknown,” he says. “I’m not a fan of the replacements. Our regular refs, they work so hard to prepare themselves all throughout the year. They put in a ton of work to compete at the highest level. I want the best of the best.”

At the moment, the best of the best are watching NFL games from home.

Bath salts are synthetic forms of Cocaine, just like this Spyce stuff is snythetic THC.

Having smoked a boatload of the Spyce stuff before struggling to kick it, it is no bueno.

Pretty much oregano sprayed with formaldehyde and rocket fuel.

I wonder what would happen if you sprinkle some bath salt on top of some (leño) Spyce?

Debo, I get that you believe JaMoron was a victim of circumstance and that this, more than anything, led to his demise.

I get that you believe the Raids gave up on him too soon and should have continued to try to salvage something out of him.

I’m still not sure what your explanation for JaMoron apparently being done at the age of 26 or so is.

There’s got to be a reason there’s been virtually no interest in him, and if there was – why hasn’t he made an attempt to resurrect his career ?

I’ll check back later for your response. This should be good.
