Fans urged to enter Coliseum early

With new league-wide security measures in place, Raiders fans are being urged to get into the stadium early to avoid missing the opening kickoff or more.
As described in this Raiders.com story, every fan will through through a medical detector. The good news for Raiders fans is it is a walk-through detector, rather than the wands which take more time. Still, it could cause a problem if too many fans wait too long to get in the stadium.

There’s no question the Chiefs D will be nice out there; but Cassel is Cassel, and the backups ain’t no better. I’m not worried about the Chiefs.

Palmer turns 33 in December and has already retired once because he got his feelings hurt. He doesn’t need the money.

Talented defense, good RBs (Charles & Hillis), PB WR, and a capable QB.

great to finally see football again. i havent watched any other games been enjoying the california beaches and the california summer in general. but now it is time for raider football. yes!!!! well im very excited to see pryor tonight. all i want to see is him look like he nows what to do and i have a lot of happiness. he is a major talent if he can focus like gannon he would be very dangerous. but honestly the matchup i am most excited to see is our db’s against the cowboys wideouts. they have big fast strong highly talented wide receivers. im looking for the way our safties and db’s work together communicate and cover. because this is the biggest key to our season being a success is our secondary playing at an elite level

the raiders also need to work on the our linebacker communication. we cant have tight ends running free down the sidelines and running back always open in the flat ya know as much as i didnt like our defensive scheme our players blew a lot of coverages and anybody could see that. we need to hit stick rip and strip on every play and platy an aggresive raiders style defense. what i mean by that is we need to intimidate like lewis and the ravens or harrison and the steelers in fact we shou;d start tonight and then continue crushing when we play those two teams later in the year. i love football thank god its monday and i hope heeler hits other players like he hit goodson start with romo

Banana and O – I’m almost with ya on the KC positives except for QB and I’m far from believing Cassel is capable. He is terrible; and I mean terrible, and that’s going to continue to hold them back. I want to say I heard on sports radio somewhere that the 2nd half of last season he had one of the worst QB ratings ever for a KC qb; but screw the numbers, he just looks terrible every time I watch them. I really don’t think we need to worry ’bout them kids…

The Los Angeles times reports that the Lakers have signed reserve wing Jodie Meeks on a two-year, $3 million deal. The signing fills the last position of need for the Lakers, adding a shooter that can play two-guard behind Kobe Bryant, with Metta World Peace needing to spend most of his time at the small forward position.

Huge signing Rockstar…Meeks isn’t that great on the ball; but doesn’t need to be on that team. He’s an excellent catch and shoot guy, and is still good for a few dribbles if needed to get his shot off (so it’s not like he’s Trajon Langdon or anybody and can’t play off the bounce at all). Though I can’t stand the Lakers, I have to admit; all they need is another backup big and they’re as good as in the Finals.

I’m amazed Cassel is as bad as he is. Yeah, we knew he was unproven as a true starter in a non-Belichick system, but still; after that year of filling in for Brady; he never gave the impression he would go out there and completely blow games, and he’s done that several times over in KC. Ha!

Which by the way is a great reason to be optimistic about Palmer. It’s not a paycheck, it’s his passion. Deep down inside, he wants to win a Super Bowl or two before going out. He wants to be in the discussion for HOF status someday.
And though he could go five years, I agree that he probably won’t, but it will be his choice. It won’t be the franchise or the league forcing him out like so many also ran veteran QB’s that hung up the cleats a year or two too late.

Rookie cornerback Morris Claiborne, their first-round draft pick, will not play because of a sprained left knee, and also out will be two-time Pro Bowl receiver Miles Austin (hamstring), Pro Bowl nose tackle Jay Ratliff (foot), defensive end Jason Hatcher (groin), linebacker Anthony Spencer (hamstring) and center Phil Costa (back).

raiders are looking explosive on offense. very fast and strong team. its very impressive and mark my words you will see us in a five wide set before the season is over. i think we actually have the talent to run that set now. of course not all the time because we have darren mcfadden great day to be a raiders fan. not worried about the past its the past injuries? what injury? thats the past playoffs are in our future though believe that.

Cassel is average quality QB surrounded with weapons. All he has to do is get the ball to his playmakers. It would be unwise to underestimate the Chiefs because of Cassel. He’s not bad either. Worst QB in the division, but that doesn’t make him inept.

Let’s start with ONE.
Had to laugh at the original ‘AT LEAST 4 OR 5′.
Let’s be realistic here.
The Raids will be LUCKY to get 3 years out of CP.
We’re talking about a 32 year old that’s had reconstructive knee surgery. An elbow that almost required TomJohn surgery.
Make no mistake, CP will walk away from the game:
1) If he feels he isn’t playing well or can’t play as well as he once did, or up to his own expectations.
2) If he sustains another significant injury.
3) If he doesn’t think the Raids can win or is unhappy with the direction the team is going.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again…
Matt Lice is a waste of time.
By the end of 2012, Raids have to make a determination whether TP can develop into ‘the man’ or not.
If the organization does not see TP as a viable answer at QB, then a high draft pick or maybe several draft picks will have to be expended to find a QB.
This is a QB driven league, and although it would be nice to think CP provides even 3 years of stability and good play, that is something that can NOT be counted on, or even assumed, and the Raids must start grooming a successor ASAP.

I hope PM does go down.
I hope CP does have 3 or more excellent years ahead.
But the Raids must do all they can to avoid finding themselves in a Mule like situation, where they’re totally fcked if PM goes down.
I look at the Raid QB situation like this -
CP figures to be the best the Raids have had since Gannon.
But frankly, CP has NOT played well for several years now.
I think it is just as likely that Palmer will have an average or disappointing year as it is that he will have anything approaching an ‘elite’ year.
Raids must prepare for life without CP, ASAP.

That being said, my favorite victories the last few years have come over the Chargless.
Best Raid win last year ? IMO, the win in SD.
The SWEEP the year before was sweet. Branch returning River’s fumble to seal the deal. In SD, the Raids physically BLASTING them and DMAC absolutely TRUCKING a punk on his TD run which eliminated their sorry asses.
Year before that, it was memorable to see JC actually play a decent game and the two long 4th qtr TD drives that they couldn’t stop.
Have to set the tone for 2012 by beating them senseless Week 1.

I have high hopes for Pryor (you know that) , but it’s his first live action in 19 months and he struggles against our own 3rd stringers in OTA’s & camp. needs to work on footwork & consistency. Give him time. I dont expect him to set the NFL world on fire tonight. In fact, he’s a natural playmaker to speed to burn. I expect to see him get shaky & nervous. Maybe not so patient in the pocket, waiting for his guys to get open while 300 pounders are chasing him. He will complete a few passes, but I’m guessing about 50% of them at this point

It is finally here and there are a few things i am dying to know. Of course the biggest question mark in my mind is qb. In the nfl if you dont have at least a decent qb you have no shot. i am very curious to know if palmer has improved over his god awful season last year. everything i have read says palmer has been up and down in camp, and if he is up and down without any defense hitting him what happens when the bullets really fly? Last year palmer came unglued in the face of pressure either from the score board or the defenders. many have written it off to rust and lack of familiarity, although some have pointed to a pattern of flawed play going back to his days in cincy.
Not only is he going to have to play to validate the billing he gets in certain circles, but i dont think he can have another season like last year and believe his job is safe for next year.

Im kinda gona miss the days of then talking sh;t about the Raiders being a laughing stock, being that we’re going to win the division this year with 11 wins. What is the status of pryors development? i did not believe he would be a top qb in the nfl because of his erratic passing. However i have slightly been more optimistic about his potential based on what i saw tebow do last year. i also felt that the intermediate and boot leg heavy offense could fit well with pryor, because fo the raiders ability to stretch the field horizontally with speed.
pryor will show us this preseason if we need to draft for the future next year.

Plus, it comes down to probability. Being the home team and therefore playing on it more often than visiting teams do (just once each), we are at a much higher probability of suffering injuries to our players than the visiting teams. I’m not a fan of the dirt, especially with our fragile stable of horses.

After watching both RGIII and Cam newton torch the college game i was convinced they would be excellent pros and redefine the qb position. so far early returns are outstanding!!!
I would love for the raiders to get a guy like this and there are a few guys that will be coming out next year that would fit the bill beautifully.
EJ manual, geno smith, and logan thomas are guys that we may need to draft next season if palmer falls flat and pryor doesnt deliver.

Unless they practice on the stuff? Then I’d be willing to entertain this argument. Practice on it and learn how to play on it without slipping. Now we have an advantage.

Mystic1 welcome back we all missed you.
Pryor has made some progress but he still throws an awkward pass at times but coaches see the potential and are being patient with him no reason to rush him along and no reason to toss him to the curb at the we are paying him.
He is in a development stage and he is showing steady improvement but he is not yet ready to pass Leinart in the depth chart yet. I hope that comes tonight I hate Matt Leinart.

Well he cant help but be better right? i mean it wont take much to improve on what he did last year. I expect carson will look decent in pre season because i dont expect him to play a ton of snaps. we know that palmer can look good in spurts but he cant seem to shake those painfully ill timed picks that come in bunches. I wont take the pre season to mean much in his case
