Ford on crutches, Leinart hurt

With the Cardinals leading 31-24 in the fourth quarter, Oakland’s biggest problems other than preseason mistakes appear to be an injury to Jacoby Ford (he’s on crutches with a foot injury) and quarterback Matt Leinart, although his finger injury was on his right (non-throwing hand).
Scrambling on deadline for print products, will update if possible . . .

What was the point of playing lienart after his td drive? He has proven all camp that he is executing the offense better than any other qb on the roster. Not only did we miss a chance to let pryor play, but lienart also got hurt.

Arizona had looked horrible coming into this game but the Raiders make em look like world beaters tonight.
It’s just preseason but I see NOTHING to give me any smeblance of optimism.

Mike Goodson is now damaged goods for sure. He will not recover mentally from his debacle.
Did you guys see his body language after first fumble. Other players kept holding him nd talking to him saying ok snap out of the funk. And sure enough he fumbles nd gets injured. Why did the coaches not see that no get him out before further damage to team and himself??????
Taiwan and his bad hami and his horrible blocking and east west running style ain’t the cure folks.
Now we gotta pick up another team’s trash for our important #2 RB position. And for sure they won’t have time to pick up offense until mid season.
Other than that Leinert out played Palmer who keeps throwing into double coverage. His INTs are very costly and get the game outa hand fast and then it’s over since we can’t make up a huge gap. Come on Palmer you’re supposed to be an A player not a C player.

CP3 – not playing like an elite QB now. Leinart has looked a whole lot more in rythm out there and prob cuz he knows the offense.
DVD – Can we put that myth to rest pls. Dude couldnt even keep the starting CB position in Miami and lots of Raider fans think he will be good in the nfl. Dude is junk.
Ford – too fragile.
DHB – Well. Nothing has changed. Still can’t catch in critical situation.
Streater – KEEEPPEERRRRRRR. Kid is so smooth. He’s a star in the making. Bigger than DMoore and faster than DMoore. But just as sure handed and smooth. Imagine having both of those guys on the field at the same time.

Can’t wait to see this game in it’s entirety.
From what I did see, the defense looked OK, but that was against Kevin Knob. Raids were doing a nice job pressuring him though. Didn’t like the way Williams was running on us early. The first AZ TD run and the 2 runs before that looked way too easy. Keep waiting to see Slo actually plug a hole and tackle a RB. Might happen eventually. Sometime before JFB’s Slo-mania wears off please.
Offensively, DMAC is a monster. Best all-purpose RB in the NFL.
TIM almost opened the game with his specialty. Made a few nice tosses after that. Didn’t get to see his pick, but from the sound of it, a careless overthrow to Goodson. If TIM doesn’t practice ball security, this team is going nowhere fast. This remains, by far, the biggest concern on offense.
As far as Knapp goes, don’t like the Houston offense style of play or the ZBS. Will reserve judgement on his play calling until I see the entire game, but I’m not enthusiastic about using TIM on roll outs.
Thought DA should have gone for it, instead of taking the FG for the first Raider points of 2012. Janikowski doesn’t need practice kicking 18 yard FG’s (although I must admit we’ve seen some bad snaps on the FG attempts). Also thought he could have challenged whether DMAC got 2 down in bounds. No sense in taking your challenges to the locker room.

I’m actually encouraged by what I saw tonight. Guys are constantly in position to make plays, especially on D. Offensively, its the classic case of 10 guys executing a play perfectly but 1 guy messing it up. Esp. on the two dropped TD passes and the INT by Palmer.
I know it’s hard to see, but our team is building a very strong foundation for success.
Knapp has his work cut out for him. Ive been very skeptical of him since we hired him (the one move by Reg that made me raise an eyebrow)

There is no tangible evidence whatsoever that this New Era is any better than the previous regime…so far or that Reggie is any better than our previous GM.
-Goodson. Reggie KNEW he was a fumble machine when he traded for him and decided to forego getting Benson.
-DA. He’s done nothing VISIBLE to show that he is any better than Hue Jackson…NOTHING. Penalties are down..whoopdee freaking doo.
It could all change and things get better…i’m not saying it can’t, but yeah “it’s only preseason” and all that but right now…I see no visible evidence we are any better off than we were before the saviours came.

I love what I see from the Defense, 1st team D played solid even though they were put in bad situations from both the Offense and Special Teams. The turnovers and special teams play is what got me heated, a fkin preseason game got my blood boiling

Whoa there. That’s actually a HUGE feat. Remember, we’re on the heals of a record breaking season for penalties. To go from penalties in the teens to what you saw today is incredible. This will put us in better position to win, no doubt.

I’d say DA has delievered on what we expected him to improve. But again, it’s only preseason. Let’s see if it translates to the regular season.
Now, the offense…not gonna lie. Not liking what I see from Knapp but I will reserve judgement until the season starts. The production was there, we just need to limit mistakes and improve red zone O.

It concerns me that we got worse from game 1 to game 2. Shouldn’t we expect that a team heading in the right direction would improve? If only slightly?

At halftime, we outgained zona 184 yards to 53 and 21 minutes time of possession to 8.
3 things that prevented this from being reflected in the score…
1) Turnovers (INT & fumble)
2) Failed red zone opportunities
3) Blocked kick returned by zone for TD (wouldn’t have happened in real game as King appeared to hold onto the ball for too long)
1st team D was very good, including recording a safety. 1st team O moved the chains but made big mistakes.

Seems from what I’ve read so far and reading comments that the offense is still a work in progress.
However, camp is HARD WORK. Add to it 2 games in 5 days and it has to be taking a toll on these guys.
Hope they get it together for the season opener.
Remember this… the Giants were on the verge of not making the playoffs and went on a run to win it all.
It make take several games for this offense to gel.

Offense is new to everybody except Lienart , which is why he looked smooth out there, Our O won’t get in high gear until 3rd or 4th game of regular season , good thing our D will probably stop 1 99 yard D once this year lol

I want to blame coaching on the special teams units, I mean they all look bad, but how could a pro bowl snapper all of a sudden suck at it? IDK

The same confused, chaotic, and nasty mess we saw last week: just where we left off last season.
Same as I predicted, Jack-Azz Jacoby injured again, with CP throwing another bone-headed INT.
Of course Leinart is injured, and Goodson the fumbler prevailed.
C’mon Reggie, you are starting to look real stupid, along with Mark (who is as dingy as AD in his latter years). Allen and Greg Knapp look like Abbott and Costello, while DMAC didn’t do much.
I always said we would rue the day we let Michael Bush go. As I said before, we should package Moore, Ford, Seymour and Goodson and try to get either a decent CB or RB.
This won’t be fixed, and what you see tonight, you’ll see on opening day.
Finally, Carson Palmer, blew it again tonight; he appears to be as mediocre as I have been saying he is.
Overall, we are in a deep hole here.

Before tuning into Raider v. AZ I watched the first half of Ravens v. Lions. It was a good game. Both teams put together cogent, productive drives. Both defenses made great plays.
I also watched the 4th quarter with the rookies and 2nd and 3rd stringers; both sides put excellent drives together on O, and stopped the other side with excellent D.
Why can’t we do anything right?? Why do we look like total amateurs playing the Keystone Cops out there?

Is Goodson fumbline 3 out of 8 carries a surprise? It shouldn’t be. Reggie knew full well what all the reports were about him. He can’t say “Wow. I didn’t see THAT coming”.
Did he think Goodson was all of a sudden gonna change who he is after a stern talking to from DA? Or becuz he put on a silver helmet?
And DHB? Still dropping TD passes I see. Do we need more patience with him?
Bad special teams. I’m sure that will magically fix it itself “when it really counts”.
In fact how can we doubt that the whole team will all of a sudden not fumble, not drop passes, block better and make less mistakes when the heat is turned up when the team plays for real.

Lets sign Chad Ochocinko we can get a good steal on him. Leinart should be alright to heal for a back-up position. Besides Palmer needs all the reps he can get until he can show some kind of consistency running this offense. DMAC is a Beast so is Killer Kelly on Def. We should see what Huff can do playing corner. Streater can come in as the Second rec. if Moore is not back in time but definitely can be the third if we dont sign anyone to the team.Criner as back-up. Do we have the talent? yes, Depth? No. Hopefully Taiwan Jones gets healthy can’t see goodson being behind DMAC. Goodson probably a better third down specialist.

i just watched a replay of M. Bush running it in from 8 yards out. Used is Marcus Allen type nimble feet to tip toe thru the defense! I bet he would have got it in the end zone. BTY Streater and DHB both dropped TD’s, so it shouldn’t have come down to DMAC!

This blog is a psuedo-pole of the fans outlook for the Raiders 2012-13 season. Based on the consensus of all you bloggers, the Raiders will not when any games out of our division and we will be stretching it to say they win 3 games within their division. Oh well, maybe next year? After-all the preseason games are the best predictor of the regular season? Right? Any statisticians out there that can back this premise up?
