So tell me again how a white family has no complaints while there daughter works, while her black husband brags that she takes care of him?

Would you rather have Calvin Johnson, Andre Johnson and AJ Green over DHB too?
    ===============

you are making point fool, i would take certain qbs over palmer BECAUSE THEY ARE BETTER PLAYERS, IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SKIN COLOR.

you are a world class slap

  5. J Hill Says:

DVD needs to learn how to tackle!!!!!

Specifically, he needs to learn how to not completely whiff!!!

We are going to see how serious Allen was/is about that last line of defense thing he was preaching early on.

  6. Silverandblack666 Says:

    is Kolb starting tonight?

    Faux John Madden ‏@FauxJohnMadden
Raiders think they can have a Top 5 defense based on overconfidence from seeing Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart in practice everyday.

I hear ya! Got a 30 pack (maybe more) in the garage fridge!

  10. Just Fire Baby Says:

I’m sure you would rather have Terrell Pryor over Matt Ryan, or at least you would think about it and argue it on here, and that’s about all I need to know.

In fact, you have basically said you are ready to bench Carson after 4 games and go with Pryor, which basically blows your “better players” theory out the water.

But carry on, if you most. Maybe you can sing us another lullaby about Troy Smith, Jarrod Johnson and EJ Manuel while your at it.

  11. Silverandblack666 Says:

    R8ER MIKE whats up?

I am getting ready as soon as I get out of the office!

Do you know if Kolb is starting?

  12. J Hill Says:

I think it’s really telling that Mike Huff came out as the starting NB.

What does that say about Allen’s confidence in DVD, Chekwa, Lee, or the other corners?

Is Giordano or Mitchell really better than these guys?

  13. hwnrdr Says:

I believe Kolb gets the nod tonight!

still trying to speak for me? If palmer flops and we are out of contention, then i said go with proyor so we can evaluate him, it is a common practice in the nfl.

Yes I am a huge ej manual fan and I hope we can draft him in 2013

No, people like Klas. Who are your friends? I don’t see many.

  26. Dakota Says:

Sounds like the Raiders and the NFL held a secret meeting to discuss a new stadium for the Raiders, and it sounds like that stadium will be in LA, not Oakland.

    Interesting.

    Your ventriloquists puppets?

  31. Dakota Says:

“The Raiders “must develop a [stadium] option,” an NFL spokesman said, but a sharing scheme with the 49ers at Santa Clara as well as a return to Los Angeles, where the Raiders played for over a decade before their Oakland redux in the 1990s, are also options.”

Brien, would you want the Raiders to play biotch to the 49ers in the 49ers new stadium, much like how the Clippers are the secondary tenants at Staples, or would you rather see the team move back to LA and dominate?

Those seem to be your choices, because Oakland sure isn’t going to build the Raiders a new stadium.

  32. lefty12 Says:

Dream on.You’ll be rooting for your LA Chargers one day soon.

  33. hwnrdr Says:

    Haha…nice try Dakota!

  34. Dakota Says:

  35. Klas Tjorborn Says:

Raiders should move to Stockholm. I would get the season tickets.

  36. Klas Tjorborn Says:

Raiders won’t move to L.A. NFL won’t allow it. Mark Davis doesn’t have the balls to match his hair cut.

  37. lefty12 Says:

I’d rather see the team dismantled than move back to la-la land. The franchise was ruined when the old man moved them there and is just now fully recovering.

  54. Sullivan44 Says:

As far as overall play goes, I’m expecting another sleepy defensive affair. Poor offense on both sides. I think our defense is for real. I think this season is going to resemble the ‘98 season. Solid defense, poor offense, with some excitement and a real chance for a wild card, especially if we land Plaxico.

    =====================

let me be clear i was not a pryor fan in college and was very skeptical about him becoming a good pro qb. however i couldnt be sure if ti was ohio state that failed to develop his talents or if he just wasnt that good.

However monday he showed me he does have natural talent, but the game was just too fast for him at this point. This could be a result of rust after a 20 month lay off, nerves trying to do too much and inexperience.

i did notice that he only threw into single coverage minus the hail mary of course, and that was encouraging. i also noticed that he got better as he settled in. i say he is definitely worth an extended look, and that accuracy will improve as he becomes more comfortable with his rout trees and team mates.

    ==================

dont know much about football do you?

Knapp runs a wco genius, it is designed to stretch the defense horizontally. It doesnt take a major overhaul to add in a “spread element” in fact we already see it in philly and gb. Im sure knapps play book has plenty of shot gun and 3-4 receiver sets in it, and this is the part of the playbook that should be in play when tp gets in

Basically the only thing he’s not raging against is the privileged elite he’s groveling in front of for campaign contributions.

I had to bring up palmers performance so we could have a bit of perspective. the stat line for pryor in his first nfl action isnt nearly as alarming as the stat line posted by our starter a 10 year vet.

There were two things about Pryor that jumped out at me. lst was he hasn’t even been on a field in two years. 2ndly after the game he was VERY upset at himself. If he thought he did alright, I would be concerned. He knows he has to play better. And he will.

But, we don’t have the RB equivalent of Kurt Warner backing our guy up…Just sayin’

Our 2nd team defense should be challenged pretty well tonight, with Skelton going as the #2 QB tonight (and Kolb starting; according to ESPN).

Going against a starting QB, albeit not a great one, but a starter nevertheless, should be a good challenge for some of these guys.

    The DVD’s, Chekwa’s, Burris, MM34, etc.

Rewatched the Cowboys game, and I know you can’t put too much into it, but I would like to see #47 Kilgore play a little more earlier in the game. He was clearly one of the better players on the field in the 3rd and 4th quarter.

I didnt get a chance to put in my 2 cents about last week, so here it is…

Palmer looked decent, nothing special though.

McFadden looked solid. If he can stay healthy, he will have a good if not great year.

Ford looked rusty as helll. Hopefully he will bounce back this game.

    starting Oline looked ok.

L.Miller didnt impress, I think if Goodson doesn’t show us anything this is the position we need to address on offense asap.

    TEs looked ok.

D looked solid for the most part. except that I am a bit concern about our CBs. This week should be a good test for them and we should have a better idea of what we have back there.

Overall, last week’s game had all the makings of a first preseason game. The fact that we didn’t score any points is a bit concerning though, and that is taking into account that we missed 2 FGs.

On the other hand, Dallas only scored 3 points, so that could say something abbout the D. Could it be improved?

This should be a good game to get a better idea where our team is.

    GO RAIDERS!

I think we all are, but we should consider that the guy is gonna have to play sometime and will be taking a pounding weekly once the season starts. Also, he’s playing with other starters on the defensive side. These are guys that are mostly entrenched in their status and arent out trying to prove something. I’d be concerned if he played against the backups out there trying to make an impression.

What are the odds MJD signs late and has a year like CJ did when he sat out the preseason and a game or two, I think.

    ****************************

    Not touching him this year.

I really liked this Ryan Williams kid coming out of school on AZ, but he blew out his knee last year in the preseason.

I think he can be a quality back in the NFL still though, not sure if he is playing tonight.

If the Raiders dont score on their first possession, its not the end of the world. Every team starts the season 0-0. I noticed some of the posters in here are very concerned about this. Just lookin to see a smooth team, all three sides of the ball.

  220. Just Fire Baby Says:

Cam is a freak athlete, but the most impressive thing from him is that he makes most of his plays within the confines of the offense.

He isn’t out like Pryor, running around, eluding DE’s and all that.

He stands tall in the pocket and throws darts. When he runs, a lot of times they are designed runs.

  221. Plunketthead Says:

Miami, I would like to be watching that game.

Everyong will be ready for Cam and the panthers this year but he may just be all that and then some. Has the potential to be one of the greatest ever

The starters will probably play into the 2nd quarter, Im sure they will have a few chances at scoring some points, if your going to worry that if we don’t score with the first possession that our season is in jeopardy, well you obviously haven’t watched the game that much or atleast preseason games

  246. lefty12 Says:

Funny Rock as I was just getting ready to comment that I hope we still use Ford on the ‘trick’ plays-reverses.That is his biggest asset because it allowed him to use his speed..Someone earlier mentioned he hoped we keep those type of plays still in our arsenal.

  247. Just Fire Baby Says:

Lou Murph has always been great running those reverses!!!

  248. RAIDERMAN99 Says:

This NFLN coverage, where they switch from game to game is pretty good.

I was impressed by Carolina’s offense. To be more specific, I was impressed by Deangelo Williams. That’s one shifty back with good power and speed. Forgot how good he is. They’re going to have a good running attack between Williams, Stewart and Kimmy Newt.

Also liked the pace of their offense. Will expand on that next post.

  249. RaiderRockstar Says:

    Dennis Allen likes Rick Gordon.

Will Ausberry or Humphrey shine tonight and show the staff they are serious about competing for the starting TE job?

If Gordon doesnt do much in the next 2 games, I think Brandon Myers wins by default. Same could be said of Miles Burris. Aaron Curry will be starter the day he’s healthy enough, unless Burris does something positive to catch the coaches attention

    Wasn’t my fault! LOL

  253. zopi Says:

This is exhibition time, a time to watch and evaluate the team, but for teams and players who have underperformed for so long this is the time to start showing something different and better than what we’ve seen. Especially for veteran players who have not played to their billing and salaries, Palmer in particular. I mean for Palmer to have his first long throw intercepted is a bad sign, because that’s been his signature, if he’s to be consider a winner he has to take the show on his shoulders. Leinart as well, he has to show that he can do much better than what he has shown so far, who knows how soon he’ll be called to take over.
No more excuses, get it done or get out of Oaktown.

  254. RAIDERMAN99 Says:

OK, here’s what I liked about the pace of the Panther O.

There was a play where Kimmy completed a pass for a nice gain of about 15 yards that ended with the ball carrier going out of bounds.

There was no pounding the chest, head bobbing, fist pumping or any celebration whatsoever.

No. The Panther who made the play, flipped the ball to an official and then turned to run back to the huddle.

This tells me they’re a well coached squad that understands it’s important to get back quickly, get the next play set and give the QB as much time as possible to look over the opposing defense.

Sometimes a little flip of the ball to an official and the pace of an offense can be quite revealing, especially in a pre-season game.

Which leads me to the third part of this post, which I will put up shortly…
