Practice notes from Wednesday

By Steve Corkran
Wednesday, August 22nd, 2012 at 12:15 pm in Oakland Raiders.

Here is a list of the players who either weren’t at practice or weren’t practicing during the 30-minute window permitted the media today: wide receivers Jacoby Ford (foot) and Denarius Moore (hamstring), fullback Rashawn Jackson (hip), linebacker Aaron Curry (knees), center Stefen Wisniewski (calf), tackle Ed Wang (shoulder), tackle Zach Hurd (head), tight end Richard Gordon (unknown), defensive tackle Richard Seymour (unknown) and defensive tackle Jamie Cumbie (foot).
The Raiders are practicing for another hour or so. At the conclusion of practice, the media are slated to interview offensive coordinator Greg Knapp, defensive coordinator Jason Tarver and numerous players.
At that point, I will provide a lengthy post about coach Dennis Allen’s take on the portion of practice — full-team drills — closed to the media, as well as other topics of interest.
The Raiders practice in Napa on Thursday for the final time. They resume their preseason work Monday in Alameda at their year-round facility. They are off Friday and Sunday, with a game against the Detroit Lions on Saturday night at the Coliseum.
The Lions game marks the final game with the Raiders for 12 players, given the first roster cuts are Monday. Teams are required to be at a maximum of 75 players by Monday afternoon.
The final roster cuts are Aug. 31, when teams are required to pare their rosters to 53. Players cut that day are subject to a 24-hour waiver period. If they clear waivers, they can be signed to the practice squad Sept. 1, provided they meet the criteria.

Geez,do I have to look up the stats again? Last 4 or 5 games last year with playoffs on the line Palmer played mostly outstanding football.

Was this a post to say that there is a new post coming?? Is that kinda like calling into work on Sunday to let them know you will be at work on Monday, when you are supposed to be.

That’s exactly why I’m not judging him based on last season alone.

Nope CJ Legend, I think most of us would agree. I do think he was probably a good influence on the rest of our DL, but the amount we’ve paid for him…

  18. big pep Says:

I posted my concerns about Palmer and his picks/bad preseason play so far, this past weekend. Only to have somebody get all over me about whining. I just dont buy the whole “trying some things” bullschyt from him. he looks bad so far this preseason continues to throw picks and under throws the ball alot. I hope he proves me wrong as a U.S.C. fan, but damn.

  19. MistaBrown Says:

Cj I called out R Seymour over 1 year ago. You are way late on this one, nice try! Before R Seymour I called out #21, before #21 I called out SeaPerch and then he straightened his game out. I see you in my rear-view keep peddling your tri-cycle

    GTFO amateur.

I guarantee that if they could cut him and save just half his salary he would have been one of the initial cuts. Sadly, the team is stuck with his fat contract.

I think he’s a pretty good runner, maybe even a decent returner. I will not tolerate turnovers. We already know Carson will make some stellar plays this year but with that will come some INT’s. that eill be enough turnovers for me.

It’s getting aweful close to “GO” time…. and as of right now, we got Nobody behind DMAC. Jones has 2 games to display that he’s healthy and can be the playmaker we all Think he can be. Goodson just layed a GIANT TURD in his bed of opportunity. He’s gonna have to be spectacular in Detroit to offset AZ IMO…..My impression of our RB stable went from “Solid” to “Oh SH*T” in a hurry. I’ll be watching closely the next 2 games. Sure hope for some re-assurance from BOTH those guys. The name “Grant” is sounding mighty good right now….

Campaign spokeswomen Jen Psaki was coy about whether the hoops junkie President would join the game. “The president does love basketball, but I don’t have anything to report yet,” she told reporters this week. “I’ll just say I feel pretty good about … how the president is going to play tomorrow [Wednesday],” she added.i

  153. JT Says:

    Some thoughts.

Raiders problem are due to this.

1-Greg Knapster. ZBS works, see other teams running it with success. Ravens, Packers, Saints, etc. The problem is our OC. He simply is not suited to be a playcaller. Simple as that ladies and gents.

2-Injuries to key players. Jacoby Ford, D Moore. These players miss a lot of playing time due to their smallish body type. They are prone to getting injured by larger defensive players.

If you put those 2 items together, we are looking at a inconsistent offense.

Im not concerned about the D. Tarver and Allen will make it work.

  154. Twinkle Says:

TxRaider210….hell they’ve gotta have a year or two at the helm before we’ll have any idea if they are on the right track.Couple of drafts down the road and we’ll all know for sure.

The Beeech Diggity circulates his hot tracks in the underground scene. My strippers hand out demos to customers in 3 piece suits getting lap dances

Eventually one of these jokers will have major industry connections and start begging the Beeeech Diggity to sing a huge contract with upfront $

That’s that way Billy Ocean conquered the world, shout out to the U.S.A.

Opinion : Coach a shld put in alil of the zone read 4 TP…

I mean that alone giv defenses fits last season and coach A was there to see first hand how it can work in today’s game.Is it a NFL offence? NO…Iz it room for it on the league???see it catapult the donkeys to the top of the league in rushing!!!

It least show it early in the season just to make defenses prepare 4 it even if we don’t even plan to use it ever week

I mean come on look Wut TeBozo and MsGayhe did in it and u don’t think TP and RunDMc and I dose of T.Jones wldnt be hard to contain

Pretty funny, considering everything that people in here have been saying about him, that Seymour is about to come on NFL Network to talk about how the “Commitment to Excellence” lives on in Oakland.

Stay tuned to see if he mentions his commitment to days off..

Never understood why they delay preseason games if people don’t show up. I mean it’s preseason….games that don’t count. It could just be me because I live in Tracy but it seems like the games are on at the same time regardless if they sell out like last game or not
